Temper, Temper
By Nicole Belle Sunday Apr 06, 2008 11:45amNot to put too fine a point on it, but if you marry someone of means and use her family money to launch your political career, perhaps it's best to not call her the c-word in public. The first time my husband used that word to me would be the last time. Got to know which side your bread is buttered. I'm just sayin'...

This is as relevant as Clintons blowjob. Instead of a story based on anonymous sources (gossip), you should hammer the guy on his horrible politics - and only that.
McCain's probably blown any chance at a blowjob from her thanks to that comment.
knud @ 1:
Ayup...this is just counterproductive.
knud @ 1:
knud, you're right in theory, but the sad truth is, more people will be offended by his reported use of the c-word than they rightfully should be over his support for the war, his lack of support for the soldiers, his lack of knowledge about who's fighting the war and why, his complete lack of knowledge - and lack of desire to learn - about the economy or educational issues facing our country, etc. And while I'd suggest Obama is too much of a class act to overtly use it, and Clinton's grasp on the big-buck donation-givers is making the funding of 527s on our side problematic, this could get out there & shape opinion much the same way Obama's relationship with Wright (not to mention his piss-poor bowling, SHOCKING!) did.
As far as what he called his wife...well, to be fair, she DID make fun of his thinning hair. b*tch was asking for it, if you ask me.
Of course, I'm bald, so my opinion IS biased.
I'm sure that he said it with love. Just ask Sean Hannity...or Brit Hume...or O'Reilly.
I'm sorry Bongo... I'm strictly butter side up.
I heard he called his mom a 'skank.'
knud @ 1:
Completely agree ... I think this is irrelevant ... at least when his temper is directed at his family.
Discussions on how his temper might affect his capacity as a president are NOT off limit however ...
hey, by the way, what"s with the big fork in the picture ? anyone care to enlighten this poor clueless european ?
Slappy is right. Our moron population will be outraged at this - probably consider it worse than his continual foot-in-mouth political mistakes he made on his little tour to Iraq.
Hopefully there will be enough outrage to cost him a few votes? I'm not an 'end justifies the means' type of person but I'm getting desperate here!
He sounds like an elderly ex-Senator George Allen.
It's relevant to fully paint this guy as he truly is. You want someone who is quick to anger, a bully and someone who can't control his anger and his words to have his finger on the button?
I agree what you guys have to say. But lets look at the big picture. The Repugs are going to dig and make mountains out of molehills. They will take any situation, any phrase and twist it to suit their needs. Anything. They will use Rovian tactics at every turn. Remember Obama's (gasp) bowling score.
hey, by the way, what”s with the big fork in the picture ? anyone care to enlighten this poor clueless european ?
It's meant to evoke/parody the classic painting "American Gothic." As we all know, the GOP is well known for effective parody.
La Parisienne @ 8:
It's for 'catching' seal pups.
I think its a reference to "american gothic", you know that picture with the zombie looking dudes?
Anyway this is bs, if he did call her a c*nt at least tell us the where and when so we can know if this is lies.
[Raw Story has the details. Click the link. That's why we provide them-Sitemonitor]
liberalHUSSEINmoderation @ 3:
I think his temperament and control (or lack thereof) are very much an issue.
When we vote for a president, we ARE voting for the whole package, bad temper, mental defects that may come with age and all. Temperament and age, as in how well both are handled are very much an issue.
Now if they were bitching about the cost of the guy's haircut, or how he dresses, I'd totally agree with you on it being unimportant and counterproductive.
But this goes to character and the ability to work efficiently and smartly under fire.
Of course, McCain may have been foolin' around with female lobbyists at the time, so he may have already lost all respect for his wife.
How are all you family values folks out there, gonna spin this? The msm has spent 100's of hours on Obamas minister, and how that plays on Obamas judgement, well. what about McCrazy's judgement? Is this the repugs idea of a family values guy? Any women who would vote for a pig like this need their head examined.
Family values?
Love the photo! Classic. I also love it, Nicole, when you quote They Might Be Giants.
From the little lighthouse in your soul,
Macon D
How he talks to or about his wife is no business of mine, BUT ... to use an excuse like "it was a long day" shows serious lack of control and judgment. Every day in the Oval Office will be a Long Day.
Don't give John the button.
It is important because he wants women to vote for him.
It would be like him saying "All you bitches should vote for me."
(Bill) Clinton would have said, "All you lovely ladies should vote for me. There might be a little something extra in it for you."
diamondmc @ 16:
Spin it?
They'll ignore it. They'll never bring it up.
this is good. it does give a glimpse as to what McInsane is capable of. just imagine if he called merkel or some other foriegn leader a c*nt or even worse...
Nah, that'll only help him with his base -- Here's his REAL Problem
diamondmc @ 16:
Hey, as long as the dude can break triple digits in his friggin' bowling score, I'm all in. I mean, that IS the true test for manly leadership is it not? :P
"Whaaaaaat...you...you...YOUR gonna protest to the U.N. about my placing MY missile defense system into former Soviet satellites?!?! Who do you think you are. Do you know who I AM!!! I'm the President of the *!%$&* United States. I'll incinerate your balls you %(*^ lowlife m*%&#%$k%$&*$#r!!!"
That's why it's relevant.
miss_kitty Hussein @ 21:
Well, with sites like C&L, hopefully they won't be able to ignore it.
gee, that's important news (not).
thanks!
This is very relevant. Dropping the C-bomb on the wife shows his almost complete lack of control. The only other person who I know who called his wife that to her face was my brother, and his wife left him. It's a sign of serious personal problems. The guy has serious self control issues, not good for a guy who's finger is on the button.
miss_kitty Hussein @ 14:
If his temper is relevant (which I to some degree think too), then let's start by looking at some REAL stories. All C&L are doing by linking to stories quoting anonymous sources, is throw away their own credibility. Remember, according to anonymous sources the Clintons murdered Vince Foster.
bryancri @ 26:
I think it says alot about how McCrazy thinks about women.
This will probably help Mc100yearwar gain support among reich-wingers.
Don't forget "trollop"! Well, that's a different image than what he and his press buddies are selling, isn't it?
Grandpa should try a stool softener. It might make him less angry.
Oh come on!
A rumor, when McCain called his wife a "cunt".
Guess what - in the heat of the moment, people say terrible things. Didn't all of you say to somebody: "I wish I could kill you" or words to that effect?
We can hammer McCain on his political speeches, his political stance but lets leave the private life out of this.
For the record, I do not care if my president cheats on his wife, has orgies, has snorted coke and had sex with a pony.
I DO care if my president lies the country into a war which we have not needed to be in.
La Parisienne @ 8:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Gothic
the media will cover for him. that's what their paid to do.
knud @ 1:
knud = a reich-winger attempting to act concerned. Exposed.
Rastignac @ 33:
Dr. Hussien Matt @ 36:
Damn....let me try that again:
http://www.areavoices.com/charliezma/images/thumbnail/greenacres1.jpg
i can't believe that many here think it's ok that McJerk called his wife a c*nt in public, that it isn't important. It is important, not only because of his lack of judgement but it exemplifies his attitude towards women. He obviously has no respect for women.
McCunt
i do agree with knud on this. focus on the important.
Other than this incredibly important news [ha!] any word on the KBR rape [non]investigations? How about getting Rove and Meyers to testify? How's that telecom immunity thing going? Any deaths or violence in Iraq today? Is there any movement on the impeachment front? Since this seems to be another 'open thread' on nothing I thought I'd ask.
She would not be the first woman to stay with her husband after he publicly humiliated her...
Every guy gets angry and says this and every woman gets angry and says asshole, its happens...
Dr. Hussien Matt @ 35:
I am definitely not right-wing/conservative. I just want facts, to me that is not anti-left. Try reading Chomsky, to see someone always arguing from verifiable sources - and making a strong case. Why would you put any credibility into a story based on anonymous sources? I don't know the guy. Still, to a non-us citizen like me, I don't think calling your wife a cunt is as bad as being proud of bombing vietnamese peasants.
She is helping to finance the most anti-choice candidate for president -- I'm sure many other women feel the same way about her.
I think the phrase "not fit for duty" is appropriate for the senile codger.
Well this is a charming story.
McCain,to flip his wig and call his lovely young wife a "cunt" because she mentioned his thinning hair problem, obviously has an enormous ego.
The "age issue" probably really picks his ass.
One can't help but wonder if his anger issues extend into the area of physical violence.
Does he beat his wife? How much gets reported by the fawning press?
If elected to the office of President will he call (for example)the PM of Britain a "cunt" in a fit of pique? The German Chancellor? I shudder to think.
You guys slay me, reallly.
I guess this means Hillary gets no votes from the C&L faction if temper is a disqualifier.
Cliff Schecter, Pulitzer Prize nominee someday maybe- I'm surprised it's not on Drudge Report right now.
I can see the question at the first debate; Senator Obama, John McCain has taken a great deal of heat for an anonymous source claiming that he muutered the C-word to his wife one late evening. Can you tell the American people that you have never muttered that word too?"
Obama: "No, TIm. I can honestly so I haven't as a matter of fact. I started to once in the heat of the moment, but the words were never formed on my lips. Or at least the words were not audible- I was able to inhale them back in".
'Batshit McCrazy' ..........YEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I personally think he was in his right for what he said, even if I disagree with most of his policies. It sounds like she publicly teased him about his thinning hair, which is sensitive issue for about 99.9999% of men. She probably thought it was cute, but that is tantamount of publicly telling a woman she is fat, flat chested, big-assed, old, etc. Any woman would get pissed if you embarrassed her in public, so McGrouchy was in his right to tell her off.
It would be one thing if she mentioned his balding in private and he flew off the handle, but mentioning it in front of other men in his campaign is an insult to his manhood.
Most men would cheer him on for this. It shows he is not some pussy-whipped wimp who bows to his wife's every whim. She should have never embarrassed him like that.
BTW, I hate McCain and I would never vote for him, however this story, if it is true, is a non-issue.
Sorry guys, but this is ENTIRELY relevant. This man speaks like that to his wife, not only IN PUBLIC (one only wonders what he's like in private), but in his WORK PLACE. What does that say about his level of professionalism (not to mention level of sanity)? It shows a serious lack of judgment and an instability that we don't need in the oval office.
I just looked up the word "c*nt" in my Webster's Ninth New Collegiate (1983) dictionary and here is the definition: (Yes, it's true. Every dirty word is in this particular dictionary...the one William Safire uses as reference in his "On Language" column for the NYT):
"kotze..prostitute; akin to OE cot den) (14c): the female pudenda; also; coitus with a woman -- usually considered obscene
He just lost every female vote in this country for that crack (even though he might be right about her...drk, drk). Oh, never mind. I forgot. Diebold's doing the count.
Dr Rogaine @ 46:
\
Oh, so it's ok that instead of using his superior wit with a comeback, he presses the red button and goes nuclear with the C-word. Personally, he scare the crap out of me as a presidential candidate.
Big deal. Many men have uttered the word (and regretted it), but they stay married. Move on.
I don't mind "fuck" or "shit," but "P" and "C" are OUT!
Abbybwood @ 48:
Did you REALLY have to say crack? LOLOLOL!
Sorry...couldn't resist.
It's just as bad as if he'd called Condoleeza Rice the 'n-word' because he was having a long day.
It shouldn't be tolerated.
miss_kitty Hussein @ 14:
I agree wholeheartedly. Poor judgment, lack of control, disrespect for others around him, especially women -- all incredibly important.
Even more important, and thus far not mentioned is his overall mental health. He was "McNasty" when he was a kid, but just what exactly happened to "McNasty" after spending 6 years in that POW camp?
This looks a lot more like a manifestation of PTSD rather than just bad manners or an ill temper. Look inside and I think you will find something more akin to a boiling cesspool of rage, hate, paranoia, and bad judgment with a serious lack of control and tendency to overreact.
Ultimately, I believe McCain could be far more dangerous even than GWB sitting in that office.
It would be great if for once the MSM took their jobs seriously and actually looked into the possibility of this man being far too unstable to perform the duties of President...
rk
So, I guess it's ok to call him a cranky old dickhead.
I think I'll just refer as COD from this point on.
For example, do we really want to put a COD in the White House.
Do we really want a COD to be Commander In Chief.
If we really want to elect a COD why don't we just write in Dick Cheney.
Vinny Hussein @ 49:
So the next time your significant other says "Hey Vinny, you got a small penis and you only lasted about 10 seconds during sex last night" in front of your colleagues I expect you to just laugh it off and say "you are right honey".
Teasing a man about is baldness and international diplomacy are two different things.
BTW, did you not get the last line were I said that I would never vote for Grandpa McCain? Reading comprehension really works if you use it.
American Gothic they ain't
Unless you counting Dynasty.
What a coincidence. Because I am convinced that John "Get Out Of My Yard" McCain is a dried up c*nt himself. If the GOP gave out prizes for Cuntlery, he'd win King Cuntastic. I can't stand that guy.
Oliver and Lisa Douglas are looking terrible now days.
Liberal AND Proud @ 55:
Why not, boosh wore a codpiece on the deck of that destroyer.
So for those of you without access to the patented Wingnut Equivalency Machine (TM), here's the breakdown.
Marry a Beer Baron Trophy wife to advance your political career = Good
Marry a Ketchup Heiress for same = What are you, some sort of French half fag?!?!?!
Flackman @ 50:
Flackman, I can't help but think that many of the people here who are trying to slough this off are paid flacks sent to this site like Mr Clean in Pulp Fiction.
And if you're trying to parse the word, the word is not the issue. The word is the expression of the character of the man who spoke it. This isn't about language. Any man who calls a woman a c*nt is likely withnessing her continued frustration at his having created by ommission an emotional environment where she has to become the other half of the half a fucking man he is.
McCain ofrers change we can count on. Another four years of a boy in a man's job.
Is this being blow n out of proportion? Maybe it's a pet-name between them.
Other pet-names for Cindy, John uses: "Gravy Train", "Bottle Blond" and "Number Two."
She calls him: "Meat head", "Grafty" and "Crash"

Ah if only that first sentence were true. Relax Dennis we're just having fun with the Ancient Aviator you wingnuts have crowned as your king. Now run along back to your troll cave.
For those who remind us that everyone snaps from time to time and uses a "naughty" word? Its not just about that. This is about a candidate for the highest office in the world with an on-going anger management problem.Let's face it:if he was a Dem,Limbaugh would want him committed to a mental institution.
RK @ 54:
I agree wholeheartedly. Poor judgment, lack of control, disrespect for others around him, especially women -- all incredibly important.

Hmmm...okay...I see your point...but I still think we should be focusing on his non-familial outbursts...I think this stuff is between his wife and and him...
Howard Hussein Beale @ 61:
Actually they asked us to promote this one, Flackman.
McCain, "strong on national security"? He can't even protect his wife from himself.
Well if he did in fact call his wife that name
and she stays with him and puts up with that
kind of verbal abuse then she is pathetic as well.
Typical repug family unit.
Peter G @ 64:
Dennis is a typical Repub hypocrite. If this was Obama or Hillary, troll boy would NEVER let this die. Now that McFraud and his vampire looking wife are finally being vetted (since the barbecue loving MSM won't do it), he wants progressives to "take the high road". Dennis, you don't set the rules. If you don't appreciate the subject matter, take you and your Republican bullshit guilt trip back to Drudge.
It doesn't look as if W will ever get his come uppance, but maybe Teflon John will, BEFORE November!

wow. I dislike McCain a great deal (well I don't even think he warrants that much emotion from me) But I have a hard time believing this story. It could be true but I just have a hard time with it. I want to see these people making the accusations. If its true then stand behind it
anneyhussein @ 73:
Codswollop!

knud @ 1:
Yeah, this is a waste of space. What is this, the drudge report?
Is that his daughter?
What is the point of this story? You get on the media for spending too much time on Obama and bowling, but you feature this nonstory. I've really seen some stories on this site lately that make me wonder what direction C&L is going.
Gotta love her bleached out hair and heavy mascara. All she needs is a cigarette and cut-off jean shorts and she'd look like every 50 something-year-old I've seen in the lovely South.
Jacksonville called, they want their over-the-hill ho back now.

Ho...ho...ho.
If the hubbinator was ever stoopid enough to say it to my face in anger, I guarantee it would only happen once, he'd be occupied with picking teeth out of his esophagus for a LOOOOOOOOOOONG time after.
I think this level of discourse is indicative of a lack of respect not only for his wife, but for those around him. Like another here has pointed out...if he speaks to her in public this way, how must he behave in private. This language is abusive and incredibly inappropriate regardless of the venue, but the fact that he uttered it in front of "teh press" speaks to the fact that he has very few, if any, filters which could spell disaster for US foreign relations abroad.
The POTUS speaks for the nation...McAsshat doesn't have what it takes to speak for me.
BigSky @ 79:
Again, I can't imagine that these entries are not spin control sent to this site to dismiss this "nonstory". Honestly, I have trouble believing someone could possibly say this doesn't matter. What's the motivation for saying this doesn't matter?
"Nonstory"? Calling your wife a c*nt in front of people is not relevant? Maybe if you're deeply entrenched in the "women are cunts" sector of society this is "just the way things are" "Oh well, boys will be boys." Problem is, we're looking for males who know how to be men in a boys will be boys world. Thank god I grew up with a good father who taught me respect for women. But that's not a sentiment you hear much about these days over burgers at Hooters and beers at "gentlemen's clubs". McCain's a mean spirited dinosaur living in a pre-911 a.d. world.
People, please, please, let's get a leader who understands the need to respect human dignity in all he/she encounters, ESPECIALLY a person with whom he takes a sacred oath to honor.
knud @ 1:
Moron, you may not think McCain calling his wife a c*nt is relevant, but ask your wife, ask your mother.
Ask your daughter what she thinks about McCain calling his wife a c*nt.
You, knud, are really, really stupid if you don't think this is relevant. Odds are, though, you are just a politically motivated liar.
Plus, getting OJ'd by the Commander in Chief would be a hell of a way for Helen Thomas to have to end an illustrious career.
Abbybwood @ 48:
no he didn't, unfortunately, there are enough women in this country who will let it pass because he's not a (gasp) democrat who wants to convert our children into gays, abort the rest, force us beautiful subservent God commanded women into men hating/god defying feminists.

...maybe she is..
I'm sorry to have to point out, all posters upstairs who are w/the justifyin', that calling your wife/girlfriend/sweetheart (?) a c**t in public might just lose McCrapHead the race, if only this was well known & documented, & framed properly. Repubs would have a field day w/this info were the sitch reversed, & you know it. It'd be on cable news 24/7.
So, let's widely disseminate this heart warming McCain-to-McTrophyWife exchange, shall we?
A woman of her means is still with him after being called that?
Shame on Cindy !!!
chris @ 41:

who cares. And why do women get this magical word that no man can say?
women can roll off name after name and men should just sit there and take it, but men say the c word and they are evil?
no way. grow up women. sticks and stones.
I don't need this story to see Mr McCain is a hot head that should not have the launch codes.
McCain is great @ spinning his ignorance & confusions on the Iraq war, etc. Don't we all want to hear his spinning this on Fixed News-
"Well, I usually only call Cindy that term of endearment at home. But I was tired that day so, it just sort of slipped out. Heh, heh.
HEY, I went through a lot in 'Nam. I'm a war hero, I get to call my wife anything I want..."
An Average Joe @ 92:
That all depends on what the meaning of is is.
I don't imagine anyone gets out of 5 (6) years as a POW without some psychological damage. Anger management issues is just one of a myriad of symptoms. Personally--I can
admire him for strength that I certainly don't have but I sure don't want him to run my country. Another extended stint of Republican rule and the United States will either rightfully be considered a country of sociopaths or it will implode. Either way....it don't look that good.
This speaks to this mans character, his respect or lack of respect of Women, 51% of the electorate and his temper. All relevant. I don't need another angry man from the bottom of his educational class leading our country.

It's abuse. Spousal abuse. Emotional spousal abuse. and it was done in front of a group of people, reporters and his aides. So it's also a public humiliation thing too.
The "anonymous source" were 3 (THREE) reporters.
Quit defending and being apologists for the old cranky McWifeabuser. To call his wife a "painted trollop" and a "C*nt" was abuse, pure and simple.
And those of you that think it's okey-dokey or a private matter are abuse enablers.
Joe @ 97:
Why do liberals suddenly get so sanctimonious about language on the part of conservatives? Like Bush calling the reporter a "major league asshole," and Cheney telling Pat Leahy to "go fuck yourself," most Americans (the people in between California and New York) agree with these sentiments.
Regardless, no one's going to believe the McCain story. It just sounds too staged, too hatched.
Joe @ 97:
* Somehow, my comment got added as a a part of the clip-quote, so, herewith, again ....
Dude, read a book on debate rules. Let me gently return you to the context of the argument, as you are obfuscating the issue by couching it in mommy issue resentments of how women get to treat you. This isn’t about what women can get away with.
This is about the word being used as a form of assault on a woman. The word was the vehicle he drove to run her over.
(that’s a metaphor, btw) Again, it’s not about the word in any context other than it’s intent. It was abusive, intending to intimidate, to rashly retaliate for a slight, however real or perceived. I am guessing she didn’t mean it mean-spiritedly and was blindsided by his reaction. It was also an over-reaction. The salient question here is, “Do you want these characteristics in your leader?”
miss_kitty Hussein @ 106:
McCain sounds just like my abusive ex.
Absolutely. Next question.
I must say I love how you "guess" that she didn't mean it mean-spiritedly and was "blind-sided" by his reaction. You've got quite the active imagination for a guy dispensing debating tips.
I swear, I will get the knack of posting a comment quoting an entry without getting swallowed up by the quote.
Anyway, well said miss kitty. The issue here is respect for humanity.
I don't have a problem with people calling him John McCunt from now on.
"I am guessing" was an aside to the argument. That's why I stated it as conjecture. Tell me what rule of debate it broke.
And, imagination is what seperates us from the animals. And the Republicans.

knud @ 1:
Knud is right. And these are not just any anonymous sources. Three "journalists."
It's one thing when a source speaks on condition of anonymity. But what journalist of any character or quality would speak on condition of anonymity? One who wants to stay on McCain's good side? Who thinks the story is worth repeating as gossip, but not worth actually "reporting."
This account does no credit to the teller and is not credible.
Howard Hussein Beale @ 116:
Why do we want to be separate from the animals?

Nailed it.
LibVet @ 93:
Moron, idiot, politically motivated liar? That's a lot of name calling. Since you ignored the second - and most important part of my argument - I repeat: The story is based on anonymous sources, therefore unverifiable. In other words - It might never have happened. Some republican could write the exact same story, "oh rumors have it, Obama is..."
I have an excellent book called "A Rulebook for Arguments" by Anthony Weston. It gives the basics for how to build a proper argument for a case. #3 is to start from reliable sources. The McCain article does not do that, and you fail to see it. #17 is to avoid ad hominem. Both you and Dr. Hussien Matt in #38 tries this tactic. Please give a more mature response next time. Thanks.
Smartpatrol @ 124:
Nailed her too.
ysbaddaden @ 123:
Hilarious. Thanks for the light touch. I have to go to work now. But anyone who thinks it's okay for McCain to treat his wife like that, please feel free to continue to speak your mind - regardless of how much it might limit your conversation.
If it is not captured on video it did not happen. McCain will dodge this attack and it will be spun back around to the Democrats and make them look like they are spinning baseless lies. Imagine our outrage if someone had 'claimed' that Obama did what these 'unnamed sources' accused McCain of doing. I hope this isn't pushed any further than these blogs.
Bad form in my opinion.

This man wants to be the President of the United States. Shouldn't we expect something better than this foul mouthed SOB? We are getting rid of two foul mouthed repugs (Bush & Cheney) let's not put another in the W.H.
Wow! even on my worst days , I would never call my wife that. Shit, I've never called my wife a bitch( cause she's not).
I've never used foul language directed at my wife, never, not once in 21 years.
When we get pissed off at each other, we get quiet for awhile.
McCain saying something like that to his wife is inexcusable.
This shows how he respects other people.
Alfredo @ 14:
Like I said it doesnt provide the who (anonymous), where (a senate campaign stop somewhere) when (1992 sometime). SOunds like gossip until someone stand up and says "I was there, heres what happened".
you never see any closeness between them-I never see him ever look at her or touch her-what did such a beautiful & rich
woman ever see in him? he is described as looking like the guy who makes the keys at your local hardware store-LOL
Meaningless crap. Where's the beef?
This can't be good.
I wonder what he will call that German bitch if he has had a long day.
I dunno, maybe she likes being treated like dirt./
In fact I wonder how he refers to Hill.
Fuck this limp dicked penis head old man.
Leave the tabloid shit to Drudge and the Huffington Post.
Next question to McCain should be "When did you stop beating her?"
Captain Kangaroo @ 142:
here you go Cap'n
1) My ex-husband used to unload this sort of vile temper on me (one reason he's an ex), including 'c***', claiming the usual sort of excuses - tiredness, uncontrollable outbursts, etc. Usually, however, in private. Then he did it very publicly, in front of embarrassed friends. Later that evening, I told him if he ever used that word to refer to me again, ever, he would have to sleep sometime, and I would make use of our cast-iron skillet in a manner it wasn't intended for. He believed me - as well he damed well should have, because I meant it - and his 'uncontrollable' temper miraculously became controlled.
2) The current occupant of the White House also has a notorious temper, reportedly so bad that junior aides have suffered attacks of nausea if required to transmit any bad news to him. As a result, the American people have had to put up with being 'governed' by Bubble Boy, so out of touch with reality that he is not only dangerously deluded, but easily manipulated by others.
I think we've had enough of spoilt children running the country. Or rather... ruining the country.
This thread says *at least* as much about C&L as that story does about McCain imo. Rushing to the defense of his wife while referring to her as a "vampire"? Ok.
Not Gabe Kaplan @ 145:
Where did I call her a vampire? If you're referring to the comments, that's not C&L. Those are commenters.
And I'd rush to the defense of your wife if you had the vulgarity to call her that too.
He probably needed therapy after those five years in the Hanoi Hilton. But, of course, he would be too macho for that.
Trust me, I'm not a messenger sent from spin control central. I'm a radical liberal who thinks this is a ridiculous story. What he calls his wife is nobody's business but his and his wife. Get over yourself.
Hoard Hussein Beale @ 92:
Dale @ 21:
I too thought it irrelevant at first, but well put, Dale.
Nicole Belle @ 146
Obviously i'm referring to the comments. In *your* three sentences i didn't come away feeling that you were rushing to Mrs. McCain's defense (nor calling her a vampire) so i wouldn't have been talking about you specifically.
When i say "this thread" i'm of course referring to *this thread*. It's not a 'thread' without comments; it's not an online community without the community. I would hope/assume that C&L.com's decision to allow commenting is an invitation for participation in discussion ala "come join us" and "what do you all think?". However, if it's "WE're C&L and YOU are all *commenters* here" then that kindof sucks.
In my opinion this *thread* is a tabloid thread and it's something we (us, the "commenters") have lamented previously [understatement]. I think there was something recently involving Glenn Greenwald, NEXIS, and the MSM...
