Rep. McHenry gets scolded over Green Zone video
By John Amato Tuesday Apr 08, 2008 11:01amLeave it to a wingnut Republican to post a video from inside the green zone after an attack. I would think that's a no-no, but I'm not a Republican in Congress.
The Pentagon told a North Carolina lawmaker Tuesday that he couldn’t re-air a video he'd shot in Baghdad after accusations surfaced that he breached operational security in detailing enemy rocket attacks. Rep. Patrick McHenry, a Republican, traveled to Iraq with other lawmakers for the first time on March 22. The video was the second incident stemming from that trip that has drawn unwanted attention to McHenry.
I wonder if he had on his lapel pin? Here's a golden oldie?

Barney came down on McHenry for breaking the rules and trying to implement an amendment. It's a new dawn in the House and the Republicans will not like it all that much…
He cracked me up when he said his past behavior was not relevant…Hilarious.

Primero?
Evidently...past behavior is only relevant if you're A) Democrat
B) Black... or C) Female
Not necesarily in that order.
Rep. '2 bit security' Patrick McHenry favorite past time is belittling american troops
"It’s a new dawn in the House and the Republicans will not like it all that much…"
Yes, it's a new dawn alright, and we've got to be grateful for small victories. A year of Democratic Congress and we're still in Iraq, still torturing, still imprisoning people without habeas corpus or due process, still spying on Americans, still not impeaching a war criminal who lied us into a war and authorized torture in violation of international treaties and hence the US Constitution he swore to uphold, but, hey, at least the Republicans don't get to win on procedural technicalities... Victory is ours!
Well, at least he got to look verrrry important for his constituents, so perhaps it will help get re-elected. And that's all that matters, isn't it?
He looks like a total geek.
Reich-wingers....always on the wrong side of every issue.
The people from NC are nuts to vote for this whinny, belligerent little piss-ass. From the way he smirks he reminds me of the style of Rick Santorum, who crashed and burned in 2006. These are the Republican guards of Republican Revolution in 1994, you know, the type that will question your patriotism and yet will never serve in the military. Chicken Hawks, all of them.
As someone from NC... I couldn't agree more with this scolding.
And as someone who is gay... this guy's wide stance may need to be checked into.
What was it Michael Weiner Savage said?
Where's the Sargent-at-Arms when you need them?
I honestly believe they do this to see "that gay guy" throw a fit. They think it is funny.
Another reich-winger providing intelligence to the opposition.....good job, Patty.
Rick Santorum did the same thing in 2005. He used classified documents on Faux News to try to bolster support for the war. Idiots!
Isn't McHenry the guy trying to claim a DC Homestead credit yet lists his residence as some swanky lake house in NC?
Or do I have him confused with some other Republican criminal?
Shit is Shit ... even if it is classified...
Which I think was the lesson of the day for that one...
tallerghostwait, I think all of them are criminals. Once they get to D.C. they become inhuman, greedy, and indifferent. It must be the water.
I love Barney Frank.
I shutter at the fact that if Republicans start acting like Republicans I may vote for one.
Until then I will vote to increase the Democrats majority in the Senate & House since it seems Republicans do not make any sense.

Shit...I'd vote for a republican no prob if they acted like a real republican...alas...their party has been hijacked by xtianofascist warmongering criminals...won't be voting for a republican for a looooooong time to come.
Patrick is another closeted, self-loathing gay who is very sneaky and possibly corrupt. Yes, he's the same one who is trying to get a real estate exemption on his property.
I think if his constituent's knew of his behavior in DC, he'd be back selling real estate in NC.
He was peripherally involved in a case last year in Florida that involved some friends of his who were gay and 2 were murdered and the 3rd committed suicide. I think one was a former campaign staffer of his. You can google him and it should pop up.
One of these days though, he is going to shoot his mouth off and he will get his dimpled ass kicked all over DC. He is a pathetic little jerk.
I have no idea what that video contained but it must have shown some pretty good stuff on it for the Pentagon to come down on McHenry. Right off the bat I bet that video showed guard positions inside of the green zone, possible locations for ammo dumps and the like. There is a lot of intelligence that can be gathered from a video like that and McHenry gives it out to anyone that bothers to look. I guess they don't teach OPSEC to Republicans.
liberalHUSSEINmoderation @ 19:
I don't even know what a real republican looks like or what they should act like or what they believe in. I can't really imagine voting for a republican, even an apparently "good one" because I wouldn't be able to trust one to the right thing once they got in office.
(Argh...when I think about the average politician, dem or rep, the irony of that second sentence just chafes...)
You can dress him up but you can't take him anywhere.
I say waterboard his ass.
I love Barney also. He knows how to handle a "two-Bit" closet case like McHenry.
I saw Barney when he was on Bill Maher's show. The man is absolutely hilarious and entirely grounded, it would seem. We need more men with brass like him to be taking charge.
Phil @ 9:
Nothing of value ............
Bonkers Hussein @ 22:
Well...ya know...now that I have thought more on this subject...I too don't think I could ever trust any politician calling themselves a republican...please strike my previous comment from the record...
Next time, why doesn't McHenry go all out and just give the anti-occupation fighters a guided tour of the green zone. He could point out where U.S. troops and other personnel are housed, where the Iraqi leadership stays, possible points of entry, guard posts to avoid, etc. I mean, why doesn't McHenry just cut to the chase and save those fighters the trouble of gathering that intelligence themselves. After all, he has probably done it already by airing that video.
The video is hilarious and screamingly entertaining - I've been doing Robert's Rules of Order since I was 15. Any idiot knows what the Republicans should have done here to solve their problem. But like usual, instead they just resorted to throwing the rules out the window just to get what they want. Sounds familiar, doesn't it?
Bonkers Hussein @ 22:
Well, I USED to be a Republican before Reagan. But hten the party started to change.
The Republican Party used to be the party of LESS government intrusion into States Rights and Personal/Moral life. The party of strict rules on Spending.
As you can see by what you've seen in the last years (since the Eighties, the Republicans have gone to the dark side of that. Now they want to intrude on every side, force THEIR moral ideas on the rest of us, and run wild without any ethical behavior.
They are having a very difficult time not having the power they had for the last 12 years.
They can't understand that they can't just run amok any longer without any over site.
now the will Whine for the next few year as the pendulum is on this swing.
While most politicians are undeniably arrogant, unethical, greedy and shameless, it's apparent that most Republican politicians are also stupid.
sulphurdunn @ 31:
And closeted. At least Barney came out and his party and constituents STILL appreciate who and what he is and stands for.
Lindey Graham and Craig etc. on the other hand ... well, you figure it out.
That is one angry homosexual.
Randy @ 33:
I don't think he was angry, i think he is just doing what needs to be done and that is stop the stampede over the rules that the Republicans have gotten used to. They can't stand that the party is over.
reminds me of the good old days when thet said all the f-time "all we want is a up or down vote"..
Now they threaten to filibuster anything they don't like.. What dollar store tools..
I like the fact that you guys go on DST this time of year. I can stay awake long enough to enjoy the West coast crowd as they get on line. But it is still late here, midnight to be exact.
I hope Patrick McHomo enjoys the last few months of his term. Tool.
katie @ 37:
Please, Homo is not bad ... not being able to come out to let your party know you are IS.
The republicans would shit if any amongst them came out of the closet. They are all "Theist" and supposedly follow the bible. (a book written by people who thought the world was flat and the center of the universe.).
I would like McHenry to explain his relationship to the male hustler/murderer that lived with him for a year. It's not clear how this man killed one of his staffers and yet there has never been an explanation of McHenrys relationship with these men. I'm more curious about that than his heroic weekend in the Emerald City.
I'm not a republican... but I am for broadcasting every second of video from the "war" in Iraq. Show every rocket and every bullet on a repeating loop.
♣Bangkok Bob♠ @ 30:
I think Limbaugh is a big factor in the radicalization of the Republican Party.
He took the Conservative idea of responsibility for ones own life and actions and started blaming everything, EVERYTHING on Liberals. That has spawned an industry unto itself. He's twisted conservative ideology completely out of shape.
And these are the guys who accuse of treason?
He musta studied under Geraldo.
♣Bangkok Bob♠ @ 38:
Maybe his semen has been homogenized.
I remember as a kid feeling a tad nervous pouring homo milk over my Tony the Tiger flakes.

Don't forget Gingrich.
ysbaddaden @ 44:
No doubt about it.
Anyone my age(50 or older)probably remembers how the Liberal "brand" started to really take a beating in the late 70's (Carter anyone?)early 80's (its morning in America!)and how lovely folks like Morton Downey and Limbaugh took the proverbial ball and ran with it.Gingrich of course,is a force(farce?) unto himself.
I'm sure McHenry thinks a scoldings incomplete without a spanking.
McHenry is a complete and utter midget asshole. I'm wish Frank would've berated and slapped him down harder.
William @ 47:
Sounds like Monty Python's Elizabethan pornography Gay Boys in Bondage.
I'd pay a dollar to see that!
ysbaddaden @ 42:
I'd say that would be very accurate. About the only thing McHenry didn't do is get up and show "Aim here! Aim here!"
♣Bangkok Bob♠ @ 38:
I agree, homo-ness is not bad in and of itself, but I think it's hilarious/sad that someone so obviously in the closet likes to keep himself there. No harm meant, apologies if offended.
Joe O. @ 49:
No he only says that when he's nekkid and on his arms and knees.
Not to give McHenry a pass (he is such an anal opening), but if the Green Zone has one Iraqi working inside you can bet the bad guys already have a detailed map of the contents.
wvng @ 11:
Which "gay guy" are you referring to?
Barney Franks is awesome. I'm not always on the same page with him, but I think he'd be great dinner company.
There were those before RL, but he patented and marketed the idea. The charges they use now have been used throughout history by some of the worst offenders. Savanorola was the spiritual progenitor to types like RL and SH. The Spanish Inquisition, Salem Witch Hunts, Red Scare, etc. Even the initial hate of rock music and the furor over Elvis in the 50s comes from the kind of thinking RL and his ilk provide in copious quantity.
I would include Gingrich as an important pusher of the movement, but not the originator of it. All the messages they have been sending since the 60s began their modern forms back then as well. All they've had to do most of the last 40 years is keep repeating their phrases to make them seem true. They are of course nearly 100% wrong on just about anything, but that doesn't count if people are used to believing things simply because they've heard it 1000x from 100 different people.
And don't forget that people like Irving Kristol (Bill's dad) wrote their intellectual underpinning in the 50s. This stuff goes back farther than people think.
Rufus @ 52:
Thats probably very true. However, I see no reason for McHenry giving them a helping hand either. About the only thing he didn't do is point to rocket impact sites inside of the Green Zone and then look into the camera and say, "Just shift your fire a little bit to left and you'll hit the Green Zone staffers sleeping quarters! You'll kill lots of Americans then!" If McHenry keeps this up he might get a job offer from Al Sadr or maybe even Osama Bin Laden himself.
What ever happened about that weird love triangle/roommate murder a year or so ago in Florida I think? and one of the guys was either working for McHenry or living in his house?
It was all really weird and there was never any follow up about it???? Was this at all true??
http://downwithtyranny.blogspot.com/2007/08/wholl-be-next-republican-hyp...
Damn, it's like watching children bitch over whose hand was raised first in Kindergarten.
And did I see the right clip? It seemed like there was some complaint over American Samoa being exempt from some legislation, not a thing about the Green Zone video. Maybe I just wasn't paying enough attention.
Now if the democrats had balls on Iraq then I would be impressed?
That prick McHenry, has gay written all over him!
Patrick Closet McQueeny is way out of her league dealing with Barney Frank.
Ruthless People @ 60:
True. Frank gave a manly beat down to the closet queen.
Aww...he's so cute. Mattel should come out with a "Lil'est Congressman" Action Figure.
The repugs should read the rules any bylaws of the House. This was an example of them trying to strong arm Congressman Frank.
And he would have none of it.
Why is Congressman Frank the one who routinely slaps the indignant repugs down?
Why can't the rest of the Dems just take a stand and fight back like Congressman Frank?
I know some of the dems take a stand, but Congressman Frank is head and shoulders above all the rest.imo.
Studied under Geraldo. Good one. Show em' what they hit and what they missed so they can adjust their aim. What a doofus!.
"It’s a new dawn in the House and the Republicans will not like it all that much…"
Well, I'm a Democrat and I'm not liking it that much either! Why? Let me go through the list:
1.) We're still in Iraq.
2.) The Republicans are still blocking any meaningful bills.
3.) Pelosi has taken impeachment 'off the table.'
4.) Despite his backing a Republican candidate for President, Joe Lieberman, according to Harry Reid, will still hold his seniority and committe charimanships, EVEN if the Democrats win a sizeable majority in the next election and they won't need this Neo-Con in Democrat's clothing to keep control of the Senate.
Shall I go on....?
Darth_Romney @ 65:
I agree completely. Is it so much to ask Democratic leaders to just grow a pair?
Barney is one of the few people who make C-SPAN entertaining to watch.
I'm still trying to figure out why a Rep from NC is interested in whether American Samoa is exempt from the minimum wage bill (or at least I believe that's the littlest wingnut is whining about).
Pursang @ 68:
Because the Chinese and/or clothing manufacturers are paying him to do so.
He's obviously a friend of Tom 'the criminal' Delay and Jack-off who lobbied long and hard against the interests of 'guest workers' in American protectorates and for the benefit of the big money men. These protectorates import (mostly female slave) labour from various Asian countries and are allowed the put a 'Made in the USA' label in clothing. They are worked long hard hours, in horrible conditions and given shitty hellholes in which to 'live.'
This is a bit bizarre, but McHenry has been around long enough to know the rules. McHenry is a complete scumbag who's sold out his own constituents to suck up to the GOP leadership.
I must have been watching a different video.
All I saw was Rep. Frank cutting off and interrupting somebody who wasn't even identified.
Green Zone? All I heard was "American Samoa," over and over.
I like Frank, but he seemed like a bullying, blustering fool here.
Again, maybe I was viewing a totally different clip.
If somebody could elaborate or elucidate, my thanks.
Elections have consequences.
This is a very old video clip.
Not sure why you're posting this in April 2008.
Incompetence I guess.
I think he was being scolded for not properly using parliamentary inquiry. I don't know the first thing about it, but I even understood that. He was trying to get information about some motion concerning American Samoa, which he can't do with parliamentary inquiry. In order to get the information he wants he needs to read the bill (a Congressman actually read a bill??), or ask someone directly involved with it for the information. Parliamentary inquiry is to ask about the rules governing the assembly itself. In other words, don't be asking me to do your homework for you and don't waste the assemblies time while you're doing it. Either way, Congress is worthless but it was still funny.
Point of Inquiry- How much does the fucknut from Texas get paid for his position?

By posting footage from the Green Zone on his website, Patrick McChichenhawk was probably trying to show that he is a manly combat veteran.
YA @ 4:
Exactly. The Democrats still fail, miserably.
No wonder nothing gets done. Hopefully this year they'll be replaced by some grown-ups.
D.G. Bowman @ 71:
There's no video on this post for his most recent fuck-up about showing the Green Zone damage to anyone who might benefit from knowing our military tactics.
This clip is from a while back to show exactly what a little "I don't have to follow the rules" snot McHenry is. Unrelated to the current fiasco.
And for those chastising Barney Frank, he was the only one in that clip following parliamentary procedure, no matter what his volume level was. The guys you're feeling sorry for did the same thing but worse when they held the gavel.
joeedugan @ 66:
To be fair, a great many Democrats have been working hard - not only to see Bush's administration held properly accountable for numerous broken laws, but to provide better support in New Orleans, proper support for veterans young and old, ad infinitum. I'm not sure what can be expected of this Congress if Bush still chooses to veto every other bill. Although it should be noted that as it stands, the President has far more power now than the Founding Fathers certainly intended.
God i'm so sick of these slimy sons of bitches neo cons, nazi bastards.
katie @ 81:
Thanks, Katie.
They don't want the details to get out because they don't want people to know that these are handmade bombs they make from used shells and not bombs sent from Iran.
Fuckers.
It is so overwhelming to see what a young Newt Gingrich might have looked like in his early years of a zombie eating brains to stay alive in congress. This young Newt of today, you guessed it. McHenry..........
Randy @ 33:

Ah Florida, what other state can claim the magical ability to make dead bodies and murder investigations disappear - when a Republican career is at stake, that is.
Like the investigation into Lori Klausutis' death, the investigation into the "murder-suicide" in Orlando just quietly went away........Lori Klausutis was Congressman Joe Scarborough's aide, her dead body was found in his office, and the murder suicide victims were connected not only to McHenry but to Jack Abramoff, Tom Delay, Tom Feeney, Ric Keller, Ed Gillespie, Ralph Reed, Karl Rove and a host of other corrupt GOP politicians.
Notice that the worm is trying to get an amendment to allow corporations to pay American Samoans less than the minimum wage. (Why would the brown savages need to make minimum wage anyway?)
Am I the only one who finds this reminiscent of the Delay/Abramoff/GOP scandal in the Marinaris Islands? Same corrupt bullshit; corporations want a "Made in the USA" label on their products so we can feel good about buying them, but the corps. don't actually want to make them in the US and have to pay a living wage, so they try to lobby and buy exemptions to allow sweatshop and slave labor in American Territories where they can avoid unions and worker's rights, or even having to pay a livable wage to the workers who make the goods.
That's what McHenry, who, as a US Congressman now has free medical and a guaranteed pension for the rest of his life, was trying to do: deny minimum wage to workers in an American Territory, so his corporate supporters can make more profit at the expense of the workers and, at the same time, foster an illusion of support for American workers with a disingenuous "Made in the USA" label.
Lies upon lies upon lies. And murder. And corruption. All to keep their profit and power to themselves.
People like this are why the French invented the guillotine.
The Huntsville Times is reporting today that a colonel and two other GIs were killed in a mortatr attack to their gym in the Baghdad Green Zone two days ago. Does anybody know if this is the same gym McHeny wasn't allowed to enter because some "two bit security guard" wouldn't let him in? If so, does he now have blood on his hands?
