fish and flush

In honor of ABC News and their absolutely worthy-of-flushing questions in tonight's debate, may I present the fish tank toilet bowl from FishN'Flush, a.k.a. "the whimsical potty." Hey, is it too whimsical to name my fish Stephanopoulos and Gibson? (h/t LU)

Fuck ABC.They won`t let you say fuck on their comments. First?

Obamafans are upset that ABC didn't offer Obama a pillow!!

It's not ABC's fault that they asked questions he will actually have to answer if he is the nominee.

And we saw again how bad he is at debating.

Hillary rocked!!!!

xoites defends Constitution's picture

"Hillary, as a former employee of your Husband when he held the office you are running for, would you mind if i asked you a tough question?"

"Fire away! Just don't be surprised if I pull out the AK-47 my Grand Pappy taught me to shoot back in Scranton, PA and blow your head off if it in any way challenges me!"

"Oh. Ok then. Mrs. Clinton, when was it exactly that you learned from Homeland Security that Senator Obama was a terrorist?"

enor's picture

I am 1/2 hour into the debate and they have asked the LAMEST questions...

NOTHING yet about the real issues.

The REPUGS must be so pleased they are not talking about how the administration have completely F'd it all up!

ABC should be ashamed!

What do the fish eat? Wait don't answer that.
Anyways, Hillary did a good job. I think Obama fans think he should have been drooled over. Give me a break! If you can't put up your A game get out of the way.

Also, Stephanopoulos loaths Clinton you could hear it in his whiney voice.

Only Hillary fans and reich-wingers care whether Obama wears a flag-pin.

Did Sean Hannity or John McCain write the questions for this debate?

I mean seriously, that Weather Underground group questions seriously harms both candidates going into the Fall. You know the question is loaded when Barack pointed out that he couldn't associate with any of their members if Bill hadn't pardoned a couple of them and Hillary doesn't have a response. This was a great night for the Republican party because they spent the first hour ripping into each other about NOTHING.

If ABC didn't waste the first hour trying to create the news, then everyone wouldn't have missed the big story that Hillary may be more hawkish than McCain when it comes to military intervention in the Middle East.

helga's picture

Flag pins, that was the woman's question????!!!! Where the hell was her flag pin since she thinks they are mandatory attire? The economy is going to hell, gas is $4.00 a gallon in some places, and lest she forget there is an occupation going on right now and people are being killed, and she asks about flag pins and ABC actually uses the question. What a waste of time.

How in the hell can you perform well in a debate where you're asked to "prove that you're not a member of a sleeping terrorist cell because you don't wear a lapel pin every second or every day" and "what is Reverend Wright feeling this exact moment?" He is already going 3 (hillary, bill, chelsea) on 1 in the primary, why does he have to go 5 on 1 in the debate?

Mister Anderson's picture

This debate did NOTHING to help either candidate. Clinton supporters should not be taking a victory walk being that The Weather Underground group received pardons from Bill and Hillary's answer about protecting Israel sounds more hawkish than anything a neocon has ever said. Even Pat Buchanan said she will face a Constitution crisis if she tries to follow through on her broad promise of intervening militarily anywhere in the Middle East where one of our allies are in danger. Imagine if Bush actually had that type of authority to strike militarily where ever he wanted just to protect a ally?

The winner tonight was John McCain and the Republican Party.

It amazes me how anybody can scream with glee that Hillary won a "debate" moderated by an ex employee who asked irrelevant questions. Is this really your idea of making America better? If so are you sure the Democratic Party is for you?

After all, there is another party available. One that panders to the lowest sensibilities of the American Public as long as it is expedient and attains their goals. They are willing to destroy this country in order to save their portfolios and it is free to join, which is right up your alley. All you have to do in return is to give up your values, your Constitution and your rights. No need to stick with people who care and pretend that you do. There is a wealth of shallow rich people just aching to take you for all you are worth. Why wait?

i'm watching the debate now. to be perfectly frank, i was never in either one of the candidate's corners. However, obama has quietly surfaced as my candidate. Hillary is just too much of a politician. Neither one of them is bright enough, courageous enough or perhaps articulate enough to put these media whores in their place. i insulted my black lab puppy a bit ago when i compared his sniffing around for food to the media whores who mediate these debates and sniff around for something anything to fuel the fire. i apologized to lincoln, my puppy. they have been the real negatives for the past eight years, because bush and company did what they were divined to do, the media however has always held the precious responsibility of pointing out the truth. Sadly, our media sold out...completely. i equate them with joe lieberman, a traitor to the ideals of true journalism.

why do the candidates at this point allow these media whores to focus the debate not on the economy, not on the war, but on obama's preacher. we need iverson, "that was practice, not a real game, but practice."

I think Obama needs to talk to Rachel Maddow on how to explain this issue. In 2004, didn't the Republicans put that "ban on gay marriage" amendment on the ballots in most states because they thought it would be a close race and they wanted to increase turnout? Gay marriage is a religious issue. He didn't say religion was wrong. He was saying that politicians will exploit cultural and religious issues to earn votes when their policies and promises fall flat.

I know newspaper endorsements usually don't matter, but I know from experience one that does with the locals and that's the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, which endorsed Obama today. That was a shock for even this former Pittsburgher. The last paragraph says it all:

Pennsylvania -- this encrusted, change-averse commonwealth where a state liquor monopoly holds on against all reason and where municipal fiefdoms shrink from sensible consolidation -- needs to take a strong look at the new face and the new hope in this race. Because political business-as-usual is more likely to bring the usual disappointment for the Democrats this fall, the Post-Gazette endorses the nomination of Barack Obama, who has brought an excitement and an electricity to American politics not seen since the days of John F. Kennedy.

I know what you mean, but I don't know if I agree. I'm inclined to think these media conglomerate news (in the loosest sense of the word) behemoths, could do less damage if instead of fighting them to do their jobs correctly, rather allow them as much leeway as they'd like and slip, unaware to them, into inconsequentiality. Now that we have the internet and sites like C&L anyone who WANTS to know the details of life can find out.
Fighting them to change will just draw out their inevitable slide into irrelevancy. I say let it happen as fast as possible so we can get it behind us.

Roger Waters of Pink Floyd put it best in "The Final Cut" from the song "The Fletcher Memorial Home"

and build them a home a little place of their own

OxyCon. Let's put this in perspective. When has Hillary been confronted with Whitewater, FBI-File gate, the Monica Lewinsky scandal, etc., etc during these debates? Because that would be the only parallel to the shit Obama confronted tonight. Obama comported himself just fine tonight, but I can not say the same for the media. Hillary, of course, seeing a political opening, picked up the knife dropped by Brutus and stabbed the corpse a few more times. I've never seen a more pathetic, grasping performance in my life. I will admit, that when Hillary turned from the GOP talking points about Obama to policy issues, she shined. But her performance overall is impacted by her ruthless, cynical political attacks.

Biased much?

I bet you really liked the part where Obama said HE never questioned Hillary's honesty, and Charlie Gibson immediately reminded him that his campaign does it all the time.

Talk about being out of freaking touch!

It was as sickening a gang-up on Obama as that notorious beatdown video those teenage girls made last week. No one said that Obama knows all the answers, but this was a corporate media hit job that was meant to prolong the nomination agony for several more months of ratings, plain and simple.

But historically speaking I don't know that a grassroots effort is going to make the MSM (specifically since they really are no longer media outlets as much as they are figures in global multi-billion dollar corp's spreadsheets) suddenly become responsible journalistic outlets anytime soon. Perhaps if allowed to sink as fast as possible, unchecked to the 'lowest common denominator' depths that they want to sink to, their influence would evaporate quicker than if forced to change?

Obama's retort to Charlie, unlike what has been GW's excuse, "i do what my generals say." obama stated, the buck stops with the president. it is his responsibility to set the course and then support the military in fulfilling that course. my only thought is that at that point he should have turned it back to charlie, "you know, charlie, it's surprising to me that you as a newcaster for a major network you didn't know or you feigned ignorance that the generals do not set the course or mission the war, it is incumbent on the commander in chief to set the course." Good Government minimizes the problems of it's citizens which increases economic productivity. It avoids S&L catastrophies and Preditory Lending Practices which the Media has misnamed the Sub Prime Mortgage DISASTER!

All of our problems would be minimized and manageble if we had regulation (Ooowe! Bad word!) and tax monies going to the greater good instead of arms dealers and prison builders (who, of course, build fortresses to keep us locked up with our own tax dollars).

Obama's parsing his own words in his closing comments was the saddest part of the debate.

He didn't have the courage to come out rightagainst the lobbyists, but has to qualify it with the "federally registered" crap.

The man with the soaring rhetoric in front of a tele prompter, fell flat when he has to rush through memorized lines, being afraid constantly that he would forget some thing, instead of being honest and speak out from his heart.

Well what do you expect from the MICKEY MOUSE network. Known in L.A as Mouseschwitz. Mickey and Minnie could of done a better job hosting. Doesn't Gibson look like Goofy and Stephanopoulos Jimmy Cricket? What a joke!

You want it both ways, don't you? If he says what he thinks or if even someone he knows says what he thinks the media goes into a frenzy. If he tries to be careful about what he says you call him a coward.

If he is afraid that his true colors will show if he speaks from the heart, and will turn off the Ozombies, then he is a smart man, just not an honest one.

Why wait?

LOL! Amen brother!

Obamafans are upset that ABC didn't offer Obama a pillow!!

It's not ABC's fault that they asked questions he will actually have to answer if he is the nominee.

And we saw again how bad he is at debating.

Hillary rocked!!!!

Really? Which debate was that? The one where Obama was attacked for not having a flag lapel pin? (Incidentally, neither did Clinton, nor Stephanopoulos, nor Gibson, for that matter.) For being Black--just like the big, bad Weather Underground? For using the word "bitter" when he meant "pissed off?" For having an outspoken pastor--even though Obama didn't agree with what the pastor said?

Yeah, Hillary rocked, especially when she didn't have to face any of the controversies she, herself, has created. More than that, though, the questions of Obama won't matter a damn a year from now. What a wasted opportunity this was. I would've liked to hear the two of them go head-to-head on trifling little matters like, say, oh, the economy. The war. Torture. Gas prices and energy policy. Engaging Iran and Cuba (or not) and why. And health care, Health Care, HEALTH CARE.

But no. We needed to find out why Obama doesn't wear a flag pin on his lapel. This is crap. Our country is in a lot of trouble. And this is only compounded by the fact that we have a "press" (and I use the term derogatorily) that cares more about being "Inside Edition" and eating donuts with John McCain than it does finding out what our prospective presidents would do to start digging us out of the whole our current president has created for us.

Regardless of whether your beloved Hill becomes the nominee or not, expect much the same treatment when it comes time to share a stage with John McCain. If you're not "bitter" now, I'm sure you will be.

Well here is what i think. I think the media is afraid of Obama and is trying to destroy him. In my opinion that in and of itself is an excellent argument to support him.

But i see a lot of other reasons to support him as well and i will continue to do so.

This country's media that is the government's b*tch, has turned it into a pile of sh*t.
And the public sits on it's a$$ and watches it happen.
They all deserve exactly what's happening.

Truly, remarkably irrelevant.

I know, I apologize. I hit submit before I made the comment. I was so annoyed by that damn link of some idiot. Sorry I will remember to actually write something before I hit submit.

Hah! There comes the Ozombie Voice. And here I was, wondering why there aren't any insults yet.

Your not the only one that thinks he doesn't speak from the heart. He only had twice the percentage of what Hillary had in who thought who was honest

She had specifics: First I woould do this, then I would do this....
He had trouble even speaking in generalities. He practically circumnavigated the eaerth to come up with a simple yes or no answer.

She completely humiliated him with her knowledge of the issues....my gawd he is so unready....embarrasing

there is a strength no one talks enough about. She has her failings, we all do. When all is said and done and when things are in crisis she has that intellect to fall back on. Obama does not. It's why her husbands tenure was so successful. There is no replacement for it. Our country desperately needs that kind of intellect or things could get much worse.

Don't let the Democratic Party off the hook, they are not too different from Republicans & just as crooked, both have the same pay-master ( Corporate America). They just take turn screwing us over, while covering-up each other's crimes.
