Notice Anything? John McCain doesn't wear an American flag pin on THIS WEEK
By Nicole Belle Saturday Apr 19, 2008 11:01amLet's call Nash McCabe. I don't see a single lapel pin between them, do you?

Why isn't John McCain patriotic? Does he hate America?
But it's OK when Republicans and the media [asking about flag lapel pins] don't wear flag lapel pins. Because we all know they're patriotic. It's just not OK when Democrats don't wear them. Then that's news!
No more "In Memoriams", crooksandliars! Please don't put them up anymore. They were the only good things this hack with the unspellable last name ever did. But the only thing in memoriam now is his credibility.
Anyone else notice that Steph looks like he hasn't had much sleep in the past few days?
Well, welll, welll George "Sneakey" Stephanopoulos, you are up to your old games, aren't you, chap! I could barely stomach that pathetic love fest with John McCain this morning. I am just thankful that Charlie Gibson wasn't around to give a big slobbery kiss to John McCain to thank him for promising not to raise his precious taxes. I tell you if that 3 way ganging up on Obama in the debate backfires and Barak wins the Pennsylvania primary, I will be happy as a clam! I will be as happy as a hippo in a hammock! George Stephanopoulos, in the words of the ebullient Rev. Al Sharpton, "YOUUU SHOOOULDD BE FIREDDDDDD!" Also, dear friends, I would like to recommend a couple of good political articles. Here is a good article on potentially the most masterful political mind on the web today...a young man named Chistopher Humphrey:
http://jviz.blogspot.com/2008/02/chris-humphrey-gives-us-answers.html
and here is an excellent article for both fans of politics and music as Elton John and Cat Stevens speak on some important social and political issues:
http://jviz.blogspot.com/2007/09/deep-thoughts-from-elton-john-and-cat.html
George Stephenopolis, Pumpkinhead, Tweety, Shit Fumes, should all be "brought to justice" for war crimes along with the Government
Oh, the Stephy/McCain love fest was this morning? I missed it, darn. [snark]
So did Stephy ask McSame any of the tough questions? Just asking.
Tweety can be okay sometimes. Sometimes he surprises me. George Stupidpoopsalotsis ("Do you think Adolf Hitler loved America as much as you do, Senator Osama... er Obama?") and Charlie Gibblits ("don't all answer at once... errr... I have no idea how to conduct a debate... Zzzz... McCain took my pills....Zzzz") have no redeeming qualities.
To be fair, Nash McCabe already ruled out voting for John McCain. It said so in the same news report that initially stated she had trouble supporting Obama. The problem is that she was an obvious Hillary shill, not that she was a Republican.
Leslie [Bitter Elitist Hussein] @ 7:
Nah!
Ratface @ 10:
and I was hoping to be surprised... [snark]
Covering TV again?
"They started it!" - C&L
"And that's supposed to make it OK?" - anyone with half a brain
These traitorous freaks in the media MUST be called on thier lies and partisanship.
Get fired up!!
Alright. I'll shut up.
Once again I would like to thank all the people who watched this shit, so I didn't have to. Thank You Again...
my gawd, which of these 2 hates America more!?!
Without their fawning and trivial distractions, pundits would have nothing to talk about but the pressing issues of the day. Eeeeeeewwwwwwwww!
They hate America and all it stands for.
.. but we already knew that ..
.. sigh ..
Ah, the flag as a tool for subjugating the weak-minded....
Very Nazi. Very republican.
Nixon loved flag pins.
George is NOT a Real American.
Sean Hannity's going to be mighty mad at his Lapdog Puppy for not wearing his lapel pin.
Leslie [Bitter Elitist Hussein] @ 2:
not all Dems, it seems to follow only one candidate
McSame and many of his party members do not wear pins on a regular basis. this all stinks of rove to me. make a big issue out of tissue and slober on it often enough to make it stick. if anyone had the time and inclination to actually count and or record all the weapos of mass distration we have been given since 2000, the number would probably astound us.
Stephie gives prostitutes a bad reputation.
WOW, John McCain looked so uncomfortable every time he opened his mouth.
Our only chance to beat him (with the media love fest going on and on and on about him) will be during the debates in the fall. He looks and sounds as if he is lying.
Americans still care about lying? Right?
Why was McCain all giggly this morning? Not very Presidential.
If Obama shows up to an interview dressed like an Uncle Sam recruiting poster, would the media call him patriotic or a pimp? Enquiring minds want to know
Bit NOLA @ 20:
That's the way I see it too. Good point.
Here's what I noticed during "This Week with Curious George" during his round table discussion. I noticed that HE was being defensive and circled the wagons. He had all of his usual regulars pat his little head and tell him that he didn't do anything wrong. Cokie never seems so animated defending his little George "Charcter Matters!" she kept saying. I was even surprised that Donaldson didn't understand the revoltion many of us had at the 'gotcha' questions at the start of the debate on Wed.
So have the MsM media gotten the message? I think they did, actually, loud and clear. I just think that it fell on deaf ears. I think the MsM think they know what's good for us and think that we should be focusing on News-tainment topics rather than real substance.
Quick! to the idiot mobile!
we must inform the losers!
You know who loved flag pins? Mike Logan on Law and Order. He was a democrat, too. And he had a habit of punching out politicians...
Go ahead...google McCain in images mode. You won't find one single picture of him with a flag pin unless one has been added since the debate.
They are anti-goofey goobers
You know, if the "tough questions" weren't asked, then I guess the issue of "electability" doesn't apply to McCain. What that means in the minds of ABC, I don't know. But the corporate media have found their champion....Old John. Keep that in mind.
crazylikeafox @ 25:
You would think but I'm afraid they only care about "their enemies" lying not "their candidates" lies.
And when did Stephanopoulos' head get so much bigger than his body, I never noticed before today.
BTW I love the ad about McCain and his trillion for polluters. Saw it on tv only once but it made an impact.
Did Georgie ask McCain about the flag pin? It is the issue voters want to know about. (snark)
soullite @ 9:
That's a good point. I've always felt (and I think the "debate" the other night proved this)that the "Obama's an elitist who isn't patriotic and hangs out with terrorists" bullshit was being generated by Hillary's campaign. She and her people have, thus far, run one of the sleaziest, dirtiest campaigns I've ever seen. Nixon would be proud.
Stephanopolis has been exposed for the political hack that he is. To take directions from Sean Hannity, to talk to Sean Hannity, is unforgivable.
It is hilarious to me seeing george stephanopoulos try and be a journalist and a serious journalist to boot!
Being a white christian means never having to show your patriotism.
MCcain. "Pin?, Oh I must have left it on my other $10,000 suit." Fucking Elitist.
Hey McCain! Hey Stephanopoulos! Where the fuck are your flag pins, guys??? Oh, I get it! It's only important that the black guy proves his "patriotism"
Jeffrey Stewart @ 39:
There's 1,000 times more Bill Clinton jizz in his belly than Monica's.
Bob Sheafer had a good closing on his show today with a take on the flag pin. Patriotism is not about a piece of jewlery on your lapel, but what's behind it, in your heart. As far as boy George goes, he's proven he's willing to be play the role of Robin to any Batman that comes along. He exemplifies the meaning of sycophant.
JSM @ 26:
Meds...
steve @ 23:
Bingo. Which means that every time that this issue is brought up, whether it be by a right-wing attacker or by a left-wing hypocrisy-pointer-outer, it ends up hurting Obama among the pinheads who have already bought the core story.
Got that, C&L? Silly little gotchas do not work when the core issue has already been used to tar one side. Anyone with half a brain is ignoring both the original non-issue and any subsequent findings of petty hypocrisy on the same. The only people who give one sh*t about these things are the pinheads and it's too late to change their minds, and rubbing their noses in it will actually make it worse.
"Stop hurting America." - J.Stewart
how DARE they....fucking traitors....
No one wore a lapel pin at the Philadelphia debate.
PLEASE make the health care issue about McCain's lifelong coverage by the American taxpayer and his cancer that would make him insurable through any private policy to any Republican you speak with.
Say it over and over and over.
Remember, that's how the propaganda sinks in.
crazylikeafox @ 49:
Sorry, UNINSURABLE
diamondmc @ 45:
Actually this man is actually an idiot
odanny @ 27:
If Obama said that the sky is blue, they'd say it shows his "elitist insensitivity" - "There were clouds over many parts of America today, including states the Democrats need to win in November. He completely ignored millions of Americans."
(quoting from In Major Blunder, Obama Says Sky Is Blue )
No flag pin? But 9/11 is only a few months away. Clearly McCain is spitting on the memory of those who died.
No lapel pin ! They hate America ! Just shows you ( if one has a brain ) what a sham this lapel pin " issue " is . Karl Rove Republicans and Karl Rove Clintonites , one and the same .#40 Filthy Harry sums it up nicely .

interesting that the first thing outta McSame's mouth was how people are angry and want change.....i guess he doesn't even believe his own straight talk BS. Hmmmm, secret Obama voter me thinks.
Andrew C @ 3:
I totally agree with you on this.
Mr. George has shown his true colors. IMHO, he is using and has always used the deaths of soldiers to give himself an air of reverence, an air of decency.
He is an indecent HACK. His performance last week was unforgivable.
Find another way to honor the dead, C&L. Many of us will now sneer at the mention of Mr. George's name. You might as well have O'Reilly doing them now.
Republicans have never quite understood the Goose and Gander thing.
Steffie, John, why do you hate America? Can we get McCabe in here to grill them?
*
You know Lollimom, I remember when 'Nightline' with Ted Koppel took serious looks at the Iraq war, and tried to interview different segments of Iraqi society, the soldiers and their families, and the very nature of the war. It was depressing as hell, yet very honest (at times) as well as being revealing. I dont think for a second ABC wanted that. And then Koppel left. What replaced 'Nightline' is todays version that NEVER mentions Iraq. It's the censoring of any serious or objective look at Iraq
The lesson here is that anyone on ABC is not to be trusted as the script barely changes no matter who's looking into the cameras.
If Wednesday's debate raised question, then listening to George's three, unapologetic, media whores today on "This Week," should provide an adequate answer. One other thing, when is McLaughlin going to give us an honest pronunciation of Barack?
Obama brought attention to this himself by making statements that some see the flag as a symbol of oppression and aggression...or something along those lines. Point being, this won't get any legs because Obama's reason for not wearing one was a protest and statement....the others have stated no motive behind not wearing one.
I have the feeling this is the only time you'll hear the corporate media challenge Mccain on anything. This scrutiny about him will die after today. I bet the NYT's won't even say anything else about it. That's how the corporate media operates. If it's somebody they want in office, they will not drag a story out like they will if it's Obama. If you notice the at the same time they're talking about Mccains temper, they're ramping up the talk about Obama's associations.
soullite @ 9:
Those pants suits Hillary wears have lapels. She does not wear a flag pin. Obviously that is not a problem for Nash.
Chris Wallace on FnS mentioned the Flag Pin debate this morning. Can anyone provide me with the clip?
Something you didnt mention, Nicole - the subtle ads for abc that litter those shots. (you cant use a still or clip from any 'news' program without implicitly promoting a product)
I bet you are thinking - whats wrong with that, its their show? That is pure marketing which is one of the MAJOR problems with what is presented as news these days. Fair and balanced isnt possible when you are branding. Actual news cant be measured by profits.
But we are mind-locked on the notion of - profits. To question profits is to question america, motherhood, god ... arms industry, prison industry, expatriated jobs, corporate police and intelligence services, economic policy that serves business at the cost of workers and more.
Profit is good - profit is the point ... in all things.
Don't be un-american - keep you eye on the lapels and off the logo's.
BTW: If anyone missed it, Bob Scheiffer really put the "flag pin" nonsense to bed today.
They have red, white and blue boxers on courtesy of Charlie Gibson.
It's getting to the point where every time I read or hear the phrase "lapel pin", every time I see or hear or read about George Stephanopoulos and/or Charlie Gibson, I think of a guy named Tim Donaghy.
Make the call, you crooked bastards!
Andrew C @ 3:
Actually, the entire interview with McCain was very good. Stephanopoulos asked some of the very questions we posed yesterday. McCain was clearly very uncomfortable.
However, I'm going to continue to use the In Memoriam segment, if for no other reason than I would feel terrible if the weekend that we opt not to do it is the one where one of our C&Lers discovers the name of a loved one on it. We have many family members of active duty military frequenting this site. That's who I care about, not George Stephanopoulos.
Maybe we should gather up all the pictures we can find of McCain and Clinton without flag pins. There are thousands I am sure. Then send them to Russert, Stephanopolous, Gibson, Hannity and anyone else who has been harping on this issue. These stupid accusations by the MSM need to be stopped. Sadly too many people believe everything the media feeds them. And sadly too many people are basing their opinions on the candidates on flag pins, orange juice, bowling and whatever diversions they can come up with. Apparently the MSM think the public is too stupid to understand the real issues so why tell them about what is really important. Unfortunately the MSM is right about a number of the voters.
I don't wear one.
I don't care whether Obama wears one or not.
I don't care whether McCain wears one or not
It was dumb when Stephanopolis asked about it.
It is just as dumb for it to be brought up here.
I didn't get to see the nonsense because I have given up ABC (All Bullshit Channel) as a policy after the hatchet job of last Wednesday by those two oh-so-serious "journalists" Charlie Glibscum and George Stepinawfulstuff.
I do believe that virtually all prominent members of the current "administration" wear flag pins and we all know how well that worked out. So much for lengthy experience…
Nicole Bell @ 71
If you noticed, McCain talked faster and faster trying to not answer directly the questions Stephanopolous asked him. And giggled a lot too. What answers McCain did give were such lies that anyone would become confused trying to sort out what he is for and what he was for before he was against it.
BTW, appreciate the In Memoriam segment.
Sorry Nicole....you were at 72
What I wanted him to ask McCain was, Did you have sex with that lobbyist who looked exactly like your wife but only younger and happier?
McCain giggled and looked uncomfortable? Maybe he's amazed that he got to this point, and is thinking of that saying, "Be careful what you wish for, you may just get it".
That old fart forgot it, just like he forgot to wipe his bum!!!!.
Did McCain just say the American people are ANGRY? What an elitist. I demand an apology.
Nicole Belle @ 72:
[...]
We have many family members of active duty military frequenting this site. That's who I care about, not George Stephanopoulos.
i was hoping you'd say that... good on ya...
They made sure that Katrina vanden Heuvel of The Nation wasn't on the show today after the spanking she gave Cokie Roberts last week. I bet McCain insisted on nixing Katrina for his appearance.
rewinn @ 53: Thanks for The Spoof link. Comic relief is always welcome.
To everyone on this thread: thanks for the intriguing and thought-provoking comments.
liberAL @ 75:
I agree. He just kept spinning and lying faster and faster.
Perhaps the most telling moment in the show was when Cokie kvelled about being asked to ride with Bush in his limo this week. It is the height of irony that the fawning suck-ups our so-called journalists have become make judgments on who is an elitist, when they themselves try so hard to become one. Elitist journalist like Judith Miller valued their status more than the truth and used the NY Times to pitch the Iraq War to America. I say judge "This Week" by their defense contractor / agra-business / big pharma advertisers and consider if truth is ever what they are after.
Not to put a damper on the "conversations", but does anyone remember when that question about Obama wearing a flag pin originally came up? I remember it being a long long time ago and something about he didn't have to wear a flag pin to show he was patriotic but rather went by his actions (or words to that effect)??? I am just wondering if that original comment ages and ages ago has festered in the minds of some people who do choose to wear a flag pin, and is now resurfacing after the bitter comment?
Those fucking traitors to America.
The funny thing about calling Obama elitist is that's a better sobriquet for the Stephanopoulis and Gibson's abyssmal performance at the debate the other day.
Want to know about what they'll do about spiraling fuel costs
Price gouging and war profiteering at the gas pumps
The cost of health care and lack of medical insurance in this country
Stagnant wages, lost jobs, and so many jobs cutting back on hours
The restoration of Civil Rights in this country?
Tough, we're going to ask about flag pins.
Funny thing, but if we pinned an American flag on our Air Force uniforms we would be considered in violation of the UCMJ and the out-of-uniform regulations.
johnnypunchclock @ 70:
I have red, white and blue buttocks everytime I visit a dominatrix.
Patriotism is the last refuge of a Republican.
By the way- has anyone ever discovered where these flag pins are manufactured? How ironic would it be to learn that they are being made overseas by non-union labor.
not that i care about this issue as there are more pressing ones, but you would think they'd be wearing those little stubs of metal on their jackets to get their point across: "I'm wearing MYYYYYY flag lapel, LEEEEBERALS!" haha, cons must be getting senile along with The Cain.
Paladin55 @ 92:
http://bp0.blogger.com/_dU1mFxzlRNA/SAo1Q1U9NmI/AAAAAAAAANk/mbW8mypKnQ4/...
No flag lapel pins? Why do George Stuphitupyer-popoulis and McSame hate our country so much?
Paladin55 @ 92:
They are most likely made somewhere in Asia are Latin America.
Republicans are ALWAYS Patriotic and therefore, McCain not wearing a flag pin doesn't matter.
Besides... he's old... he forgets stuff.
It's am outrage! What an unpatriotic sack of crap!
I heard someone suggest that Obama open a company that manufactures American Flag lapel pins, and still not wear one!!! It's an adornement, I remember the pin that looked like 3 people standing hand in hand back in the 70's. I never would've thought that a flag was required adornement. I was an Eagle scout, US Marine, and I don't even own one, although I do fly both flags every day. I just don't wear one, it would be ruined in one day on my job. The RW and the CW (Clinton Wing) don't want a real person to get the WH. That would really fuck up the corporotist agenda we are all victims of.
mccain has proved his patriotism on the field of battle, tell me libtards, if he were to wear all of his military ribbons and medals, would you somehow see this as too patriotic? he may or may not be our next president,[i hope not], but you cant question his patriotism. on the other hand, what has hildabeast or b.hussien obama ever done that benefited anyone but themselves?
Umm...mccain was in the air, not any fields.
Unless you count the one he crashed in.
if you don't think the 'air' is on the field of battle you are an idiot, as over 10,000 american airman lost their lives in ww2, and , just so you know, he was shot down, he didn't crash. trying to talk to libtards is like trying to talk to a 1 year old, neither understands.
Actually, I was in the Air Force 1978-1982, Top Secret Clearance, Edwards AFB CA, 1925 Communications squadron, working in the Telecommunications Center with a Top Secret Clearance
And you?
103 jim
By your logic you would have had to have supported both Gore and Kerry who were in Vietnam over bush who was in the champagne assignment stateside that he eventually deserted.
Additionally your World War II stats aren't relevant unless you think mccain fought in World War II and not Vietnam.
The library is about to time me out.
usaf, 1969-74, baudette afs, mn., tan son nhut ab, so.vietnam, chanute afb, rantoul ill. and extended my enlistment to upper heyford, england. and dont make me defend mccain, hes an idiot, but dont question his patriotism.
jim @ 106:
Just why on earth is his military service that important for who is he is now? Hitler had experience from WW1 and that did not automatically make him a "good" patriot. I'm only saying that since having military experience does not in any way guarantee proper patriotism and leadership. For me he is instantly out of the list for supporting the modern day imperialism that the neocons have formed their program after... stury PNAC if you're unware. He seems to have no problems sending people to a country where they have no place being in in military uniforms.
Can you imagine an Iraqi trying to survive and make a living and take care of his family in Baghdad, seeing the news about our scrap over flag pins? Can you imagine how stupid, navel-gazing, and self indulgent we must look to outsiders? This is shaming, and it's not Obama who is being shamed. It's all of us.
bush, mccain, and i'm sorry to say, the clintons are passing the presidency around like a beer bong. very undignified.
and who says i voted for the imbecile bush? i didn't. perhaps i did vote for gore and kerry, just so you know. i now go back to my question, what has clinton or obama ever done that didn't benefit themselves? and certainly ww2 is indeed relevant, to prove the point that the air is indeed on the battlefield. idiots, you are all idiots. you try to take one thing , out of context, and use it to somehow change the subject. common in lawyers, and liberals.
Stephanopolous should aspire to Bob Schieffer's competence. Schieffer gave a brilliant commentary about label pins this AM on Face the Nation http://www.cbsnews.com/sections/i_video/main500251.shtml?id=4029456n
Silly me, I thought Stephanopolous just might set McCane straight in his false comments about Obama's "close friendship" with 60's terrorist William Ayers. These are the facts as reported by both FoxNews AND the Washington Post,
http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/04/17/fact-check-obamas-relationship-w... http://blog.washingtonpost.com/fact-checker/2008/02/obamas_weatherman_co....
Ayers DID donate $200 to Obama's election to the Illinois State Senate 17 years ago. Obama's predecessor in the Illinois State Senate DID ask Ayers to host a "get-to-know-candidate-Obama" gathering at his house -- which is in the same Hyde Park neighborhood as Obama's in Chicago. But they are not friends in the sense of Homer Simpson and Ned Flanders. Also Obama and Ayers DID serve as members of the board of the "Woods Fund of Chicago," at the same time between 1998-2001. It is... not a subversive organization, not a terrorist cell, not an underground group seeking to overthrow the US government.... but an ANTI-POVERTY CHARITY.
The old "honorable" guy made it sound as if Ayers is a close advisor in Obama's Presidential campaign and that therefore Obama should denounce his asssociation with "terrorists." Stephanopolous' job is to present the facts and not allow McCane to go unchallenged when he makes false statements. Saying that McCane has his own associations (Hagee) to denounce, without clarifying Obama's associations, is not enough.
The flag pins are made in China. Probably made with lead and painted with lead paint.
I was just about to buy a garden tool the other day. For some reason I happened to read the fine print on the label. It said Made In China. Product contains lead. Wash your hands after every use.
My theory is that we've been absorbing and ingesting so much lead from Chinese products that we've collectively lowered our IQs and damaged our brains to the point where we create huge controversies over things like flag pins.
1984 @ 107:
so now you are comparing mccain to hitler, there is a difference. i agree with the rest of what you said.and , no matter how hard you try, you will not get me to vote for mccain. the reason the dems don't often win the white house is that they mostly make fun of such things as family values, patriotism, christians and the military. wise up, don't talk, and then the dems may get the white house. the more you talk, the more you lose.
I liked "patriotism on a stick." Best phrase, not sure who coined it.
Hanniopolis , you should have asked or challenged McSame about this " special fund ' for pre-existing health care problems , since he doesn't include pre existing conditions in his wonderful health care plan and playing the Hanoi Hilton card AGAIN , is getting real old McSame , along with the other bumper sticker attack on Canada and UK's health care system , advancing the myth that they are so bad .
What's weird about McSame is , he only seems comfortable with his memorized bumper stickers and not explaining in DETAIL how is health care system is suppose to work . Notice how he lights up and giggles when ever he brings the Hanoi Hilton " there was a time when i didn't get good health care " , what the HELL does that have to do with people dying here in the U.S. Get Real , because of bad or no health care .
jim @ 106:
McCain's not a patriot because he's not wearing a flag lapel pin. Oh, and he wants to destroy America by engaging in a multi-trillion dollar three-front war.
Poor Nash: a seemingly unwitting stooge, used for propaganda and tossed aside. I doubt she meant anything by it. (I doubt she's evil: working her ass off to keep a roof over their heads and all.) Collateral damage of the war machine.

Serioulsy. Tell the GOP attack machine. Not us.
it would seem i have stumbbled onto the only site that could possibly allow me to vote for mccain, just to spite some of you. look at the comments, healthcare? be a man and provide for yourself. where in the constitution are you entitled to that? oh thats right, you don't care about the constitution. it would seem this is a site with the far left socialists in charge. this middle of the road democrat will depart this thread, and perhaps the democratic party as well. as i said before, keep your mouth closed and the dems may win, keep talking, mccain will. oh, by the way, who really wants the government in charge of healthcare? name one thing the government, any government, does well. if the government takes over that, your final thoughts will be ' i was wrong' instead of them being about your loved ones.
Jim (120), you're an idiot. You're posing as a tough guy here. "Be a man...."? Please, go outside, take a few deep breaths, and relax.
Where in the Constitution are we required to have health care provided? Nowhere. Where are we required to have safe air travel regulated by the government? Safe drugs? Safe drinking water and healthy air? Nowhere. Are you suggesting that the Constitution literally enumerates all the instanced of federal intervention? Go on, take a few minutes and think as hard as you can. We'll wait.
To say that Democrats "don't care about the Constitution" is no doubt a cheap thrill for your primitive brain.
No dude, get outside and get some air. You've been sitting in your trailer breathing Fox Fumes for too long.
Oct.4 2007
http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2007/10/04/obamas-lapels/
In a television interview on Wednesday, Mr. Obama was asked why he wasn’t wearing an American flag on his suit. “Is this a fashion statement? Those have been on politicians since Sept. 12, 2001.” a reporter for KCRG-TV in Cedar Rapids said.
“The truth is that right after 9/11 I had a pin,” Mr. Obama replied. “Shortly after 9/11, particularly because as we’re talking about the Iraq war, that became a substitute for, I think, true patriotism, which is speaking out on issues that are of importance to our national security.
“I decided I won’t wear that pin on my chest,” he added. “Instead I’m gonna’ try to tell the American people what I believe what will make this country great and hopefully that will be a testimony to my patriotism.”

120 jim Says: it would seem i have stumbbled onto the only site that could possibly allow me to vote for mccain, just to spite some of you. look at the comments, healthcare? be a man and provide for yourself. where in the constitution are you entitled to that? oh thats right, you don’t care about the constitution. it would seem this is a site with the far left socialists in charge. this middle of the road democrat will depart this thread, and perhaps the democratic party as well. as i said before, keep your mouth closed and the dems may win, keep talking, mccain will. oh, by the way, who really wants the government in charge of healthcare? name one thing the government, any government, does well. if the government takes over that, your final thoughts will be ‘ i was wrong’ instead of them being about your loved ones.
==================================
I take it back. Nuh-uh to you Jim. Just nuh-uh in general. Have some more Kool-Aid and go hang with your asshole friends.
No flag pin! NO FLAG PIN! Burn him at the stake!! BURN! BURN!
Jim what you need to ask yourself is what good has the goverment done for anyone but the rich since George W Bush took office. Democrats dont care about the constitution?????????? WTF your spin has made me so dizzy I must get off the merry go round
This is a nice attempt at analogizing it to Obama, but Obama specifically stated that he would not wear a flag pin on his lapel because he didn't think it was true patriotism. Who would ever say something so silly?
Do they love the flag as much as they love Karl Marx? As much as they love Satan? As much as they love puppy sandwiches?
I thought not.
I GIVE UP. YOU DID IT, I WILL NOT BE VOTING FOR A DEMOCRAT IN NOVEMBER. I TOLD YOU IF YOU KEPT TALKING THIS WOULD HAPPEN. CAN'T YOU FIGURE IT OUT? YOU LEFT WINGNUTS FROM MEXIFORNIA ARE LOSING THE CENTER OF YOUR [OUR] PARTY. YOU ARE LIKE HILLARY AND BARACK, DESTROYING EACH OTHER SO THE REAL BAD GUYS CAN WIN. YOU HAVE MANAGED TO DRIVE THIS MODERATE DEMOCRAT AWAY. KEEP TALKING, MILLIONS MORE WILL COME WITH ME AND IN NOVEMBER YOU WILL WAKE UP, NOT BELIEVEING YOU LOST THE WHITE HOUSE AGAIN. MY PARTY HAS BEEN STOLEN BY A RADICAL , FAR LEFT FRINGE GROUP THAT WOULD MAKE STALIN PROUD. REMEMBER THIS WHEN YOU WAKE UP IN NOVEMBER, THE DAY AFTER THE ELECTION, AND YOU CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHY THE DEMS LOST, YOU LOST BECAUSE YOU DROVE ME, AND MILLIONS MORE LIKE ME, AWAY. BYE=BYE, AND BYE=BYE TO THE WHITE HOUSE.

So I guess this means that McCain isn't patriotic enough to get Nash McCabe's vote either?
E @ 134:
it is true that the government does all those things, which ones do they do well?that was the question. national defense? remember 9-11? welfare? ask anyone on welfare if its done well. travel?been to an airport recently?cdc? the last ones to know about anything.education for free? 1st, its our taxes that pay for free education, 2nd, its not very good, especially in our big cities.clean water? why do so many of us buy it?trash pickup, once again not free, our taxes at work. i agree with you on one thing, tax collection, that is done well by local, state and federal governments.regulation of our air-waves? censorship you mean, don't you?invention of the internet? ah, i believe that was private enterprize that capitalized on that.YOU FORGET THE QUESTION, it was what does the government do well, not what does the government do. see the difference?so, all you lefties, sit around, make fun of me, a union man who makes 40k a year, tell yourselves how lucky i am to have so many elitist people like yourselves look after me, and are trying to make things better. the problem of course, is that i don't want you taking care of me. i have done it for 60 years, and by the way, i never voted republican in my life, and won't in 2008. i will find a 3rd party to vote for.you see how i, a part of middle america, have been made fun of here? you remember 3rd parties, nadar in 2000? cost my man gore dearly. i believe the poor and disabled must be taken care of, i believe our education has to be as good in our cites as it is in the suburbs, i believe that our prisons should be clean and safe, serving decent food. i believe bush is an idiot and should be impeached. but in the end i believe he is a patriot, one that i disagree with, one who i think is out of touch with me, as many of you are. so make your little jokes, so that you appear witty, tell me that i need to be pitied, that i dont 'get it'. that you have a better education then me, so therefore will take care of me. you no more fit into my world then i do yours. but you stole my party from me, you think my voice is worth less then yours, afterall, you are smarter. but there are more like me then there are of you, and you are driving all of us away.we don't want to be taken care of just because you want to feel better about yourselves. improve the government services to the needy, the disabled, the sick, does tat sound like a republican ti you? i think not. but, don't make fun of me because i go to church, that i don't want 'free' healthcare, that i ocassionally wear a lapel pin. keep making your jokes, just keep them to yourselves, if you don't, mccain wins.
[Deleted-Sitemonitor] CNN: After All the Major PA Newspapers Shun Her, Clinton Boasts of Support by Richard Mellon Scaife's Conservative Pittsburgh Paper. Pathetic. "The New York senator famously built a relationship with former critic Rupert Murdoch, whose New York Post frequently blasted both Clintons. The Australian-born media baron even hosted a fundraiser for her during her second Senate run. But over the past few months, her presidential campaign has taken its apparent embrace of former media adversaries to a new level, sending reporters articles that praise Clinton and attack Barack Obama drawn from conservative outlets including the National Review and the American Spectator, and quotes from Republican pundits like Ed Rollins and Grover Norquist. And former President Bill Clinton made an appearance on talker Rush Limbaugh's show the day of the Texas and Ohio primaries - contests in which the conservative radio host had urged listeners to vote for Hillary Clinton as a means of sabotaging the Democratic nominating process. 4/21
Hillary Clinton got an endorsement from the same guy who is suing her for having the Elton John fundraiser and is behind the vast right wing conspiracy stuff.
Sounds pretty kinky to me. Or very desperate, like someone is under someone's thumb.
Much more interesting is the Rolling Stone article "The Queen Of Pork." I didn't know she and Calvin Butts were so connected at the...um, yeah...butt. She got him money, he gave her an endorsement for 1.5 million dollars. Wonder what she gave Scaife?
And please, someone who taped it, let's count the number of times McCain blinks as if he's either very nervous, or very very angry. Especially during the Hagee question. Happy hunting!
I think the lapel pin issue is a code, and not a real issue. It is a way for people to pretend a genteel way of questioning Barack Obama's patriotism, as a smear and put-down and for no other content reason.

It looks like you chilled out, but after your earlier rant, I have no interest in reading what you typed out. I suspect it's... (no way to win friends and influence people)
(bitter & angry 67%) Edwin Hussein @ 141:
what a witty thing to say. hoe very open minded of you.
And as expected, Stephanopoulos doesn't question McCain's patriotism. Thanks for proving what a retard you are, George.

Whatever. Try no using a cudgel to get your point across, next time. It's not working in the American quest to "spread democracy to Iraq," and it won't work here either.
(bitter) Edwin Hussein @ 144:
yes ,whatever.and i have no idea what a cudgel is, as i only have a high school diploma. too bad that us democrats can't have an exchange of where our party should be. i have already surrendered, the far left, lunatic fringe has won. you are in charge. i'm sure your instinct is to instruct me on what a cudgel is, but i don't care. i express myself as best i can, thank you for pointing out my inadaquact way of doing so. you are so superior to me. give me your e-mail, this way i can contact you and you can tell me what to do as i encounter problems, it will make my life easier if i can get you to make decisions for me. isn't that what you really want?
soullite @ 9:
OK - Ask McCabe about Hillary's flag pins. I did not see Hillary wearing a pin during the debate, and to be honest I do not remember ever seeing her wear one.
Is it hard for them to walk through doorways with those big arrows attached to their shoulders?
