Mike's Blog Roundup

Balloon Juice: The White House has declared a "major victory," thanks to 105 sellout Dems and...(cough) 'leaders' Hoyer, Pelosi...and Barack Obama. This is "change you can believe in?" Reprehensible. Oh, and they caved on the War Funding bill, too.

The Hill: Darth Cheney gets the last laugh as congress concedes another defeat to the Bush Crime Family. And they also stiffed 'em on this one.

Liberty Street: All religious conservatives want is a total explanation for everything. Kinda like my children when they were four.

The Existentialist Cowboy: How Bush helped establish a corporate "New World Order."

Vagabond Scholar: Right-Wing Cartoon Watch

The Daily Banter: A wide-ranging interview with Rolling Stone's Matt Taibbi.

Obama is proving himself to be an establishment politician.

That religious Conservative article really had me thinking about a possible Psychology research project that I could do. Currently, I am participating in several psychology research projects at my university in order to gain credits for my class and in each one, the researchers doesn't tell you what they are studying or what you will be doing. They just have you stand outside of the door until you are called.

I can do a similar research project myself. I'll just go to a Republican/Conservative Christian convention and say that I am doing a research project and have them stand outside of the door. Of course, I will give them the standard notification form of any risks. Then, I'll call them in one at a time and hand them a Army recruiter's business card. I'd love to study the reactions on their faces.

Obama is weak. Shill, fooled you all well not all of us...he may be able to give a good speech but he's got no spine like the rest of them and before you jump down my throat with excuses for your new messiah all I can say is Russ Fiengold HE is the one with integrity and doesn't get on his knees for BushCo. pfft so much for 'change'

Government of the corporations, by the corporations, for the corporations… and their buddies.

I will think of something new to say when something NEW happens.

I love Russ Feingold because he's my Senator and the last Democrat in the Democratic Party. But Russ Feingold will NEVER get elected President of the United States.

Why?

You have to run to the be President of the United States and not the President of the Democratic Party. You guys have been cheering like crazy for every new House and Senate seat that the Democrats pick up in the South without caring that most of the Democrats are running on Republican issues except on Healthcare, Economy, Environment/Energy, and the War. Now you're shocked that Obama had to pivot to the center during the general election?

Welcome to politics in the United States. You have to compromise more here then you do in your marriage. Like marriage, if you're not willing to give to get, then you shouldn't be involved with it in the first place. I don't like Obama's decision either, but from a political standpoint, pissing off the left on a issue only people on the left truly care about (the right and independents don't lose any sleep over it whether they agree or disagree) is brilliant.

The establishment will not let a non establishment candidate in the game.

It's all about personal superstitious belief and monetary acquisition.
It's never been about justice.
That's America.

The vast majority of people are not politically awake and are all too easily manipulated into voting against their own interests.

The challenge is to inform them. It is a very tall order given the Corporate ownership of the media.

It is a challenge that must be taken.

I wonder if the religious right conservatives believe in the new or the old testament? and if it's the old do they hunt and peck on what to espouse?
Yep, I guess no one told obama that it's easier to pass a bill into law than to get it repealled . To make amends when he becomes president all the laws that chimpy wanted passed should be on the fast track to repeal they really had nothing to do with security but more with surpressing the citizens at home that disagreed with his lame ass policies.

Well, I canceled my monthly donation to Obama and sent a note explaining why. Silly me, thinking we could get a candidate who would stand up for us and not USA, Inc.

Silly me, I thought the bill was passed in the House yesterday. And I also thought that Obama was a SENATOR.

I guess 'm STOOPID.

The general analysis of this is that he is going to fight to strip the immunity provisions out of the bill because he does not support those. And that grandstanding to ultimately NOT DEFEAT this bill will not get his party behind him when he isn't even the nominee just yet.

This is a war. The FISA bill is one battle that he apparently believes he needs to limit his "political capital" to just his vote as Senator. I certainly wouldn't presume to dictate strategy to him. The prize is the election in November. If you are so pure that you can't look to the big picture, I recommend you get yourself comfortable with a McCain Presidency. McCain has never declared he's against immunity. He is taking money almost exclusively from mega-rich donors and corporations. And he will continue sending our kids to war and burning their money in a fucking furnace.

I hope it's worth it to you.

He is the presumptive head of the Democratic party at this point. He has been MIA on this issue after "standing with Senator Dodd" on the filibuster several months ago. He chose to remain mum on the matter. This is effectively a retreat in the face of Bush's unitary executive paradigm. Will he "fight" to strip the immunity provisions out of the bill. Why should I believe he wont do the same 180 he's done on the rest of it? And speaking of the big picture, is the Fourth Amendment part of the big picture for you? Maybe I'm "stoopid," but it's a part of mine.

Its the new new gospels they believe in, the four 'books' written one after another by the plagiarizing (of the preceding) four authors of the respective gospels.
Which texts are radically different from the early authentic xtian articles and letters.

Jesse! Says: Man, you people sure are alarmist.
