The Daily Show: McCain touted his accomplishments-missed by media: Oh, and the Hiltons might want their money back
By John Amato Thursday Jul 31, 2008 1:20pm
The Daily Show exposed the McCain hypocrisy in full detail. Their recent attack ads against Obama that included Paris Hilton might make the Hiltons a little unhappy since they donated the max to McCain's camp. Attacking their daughter wasn't so nice. Then Stewart takes a look at all the uppity remarks that McCain has made about the McCain Presidency.

It's another brilliant segment on the election. The GOP knows that anything they float out there will be debated by the media like "Is Obama arrogant?"and they will fail to look at McCain's own arrogant behavior when Obama hasn't actually been arrogant.

WTF?!? Are there issues in this election?
I mean besides an extra half hour fur lunch...
This needs to be seen. By all. Everywhere. ASAP. But I am not holding hopes the "liberal media" will cover it. /snark
This only shows the fear the MSM has if Obama becomes President. He might actually reinstate regulation of the FCC and anytime remarks and failure to report real news gets broadcast, they might either get hit with massive fines or actually get their licence to operate yanked.
Works for me.
What are the Hilton's gonna do to mccain
Make him appear in Paris's next internet video?
That would be hott.
The Political Junkie @ 3:
Yeah...I'm ok with that.
This segment was an instant classic. As George Carlin said, sometimes I think I'm not supposed to understand it. What liberal media? I don't see it.
EliteLemming @ 1:
Where's our m****r-f***ing iced tea?
Now, if we could only get about 40 million more to watch The Daily Show.
Start by sending this clip to your unenlightened republican friends and relatives...
$520 Ferragamo Loafers...
i just like writing that
I am so very disappointed in John McCain and all his supporters. I'm disappointed in America and I am not ashamed to say that we have lost our way. This entire country is arrogant beyond belief and the self-importance we exude is disturbing. American's are selfish, greedy and small minded.
Shame on all of us and shame on those who rule our governments. What a complete letdown this entire American experience has become.
Maybe everyone in the left blogosphere should print out a picture of McCrazy and Ms. Hilton with "JOHN MCCAIN IN CELEBRITY PORN SHOCKER" -- or something clever -- printed in huge lettering across the bottom, and staple the copies to every telephone pole in America. Hey, they lie... why not use their tactics against them?
Brilliant, just brilliant. Bravo, TDS.
Samson- @ 9:
Try wearing them and feel like a republican.
Another Media Cover-Up: CBS Replaces McCain Interview with ‘Matlock Rerun’
The Daily Show is the antidote to Faux News.
J² @ 11:
Paris hilton? Try Mae West. More his era.
enor @ 13:
i could so that... or...
i could hire illegal immigrants to tend to my sprawling lawn, as i keep an eye on them like they are cold-blooded murderers, yet smile to their faces. all the while raging on in the media and on the floor of the house about our open borders and how mexicans are destroying mom, god and apple pie...
hola, rafael, don't forget to trim the hedge by the west lawn gazebo!
/snarl off
oh, mitt romney, you know i kid you.
i know you didn't smile at them
me@17
should read:
"i could DO that..."
and i know that romney was never a representative...
oy, nevermind. this is what happens when non-funny people try to be funny.
Would it be such a stretch for the Obama media peeps to make a cheap ad, either for television or the intenet, ridiculing McCain with footage featuring both him and Britney Spears praising Bush, and noting his ties to the Hiltons?
If it is, then this race is going to the wire.
Arugula? It grows like a weed in my yard. So am I hoity toity?
I sometimes put horseradish leaves in my salad too!
uk visa @ 15:
Well, I thought blogs were the antidote to the media distracting from real news and issues. Not so much anymore.
Weaseldog @ 20:
uhm, ignore the Poke Salat that's taking over. Don't want to go cliche'....
Weaseldog @ 20:
That's cool :D We have wild onions growing in ours. They grow naturally all over around here so when people cut their grass it smells like fresh salad. Mmmmmmm!!
How anyone could make a vegetable "elitist" is beyond me. Unless you're talking about mcsame. There's an elitist vegetable if ever I saw one.
EXACTLY!!! The media bias (I think there was a study on it) is obvious...OVERTLY obvious
Nada @ 23:
Don't forget, these are the same people who think that ketchup is a vegetable so anything you can't find on an off-the-shelf Whopper w/cheese is elitist to them.
Nada @ 23:
It seems strange that McSame's crew disses fresh food when Cindy is busying copying lobster recipes from the Food Network.
One of the thousands of conventional wisdom's that are not true that I wish we could settle once and for all is the idea that you can increase revenue by lowering taxes on the top 50%. That will not work, it has never worked and will never work. I am really sick of hearing the Fascists say that crap every election cycle. I am also sick of the media just letting them get away of saying it like it's true.
Weaseldog @ 20:
What about cannabis in brownies?
[Deleted. Off topic-Sitemonitor]
Jon Stewart also had a great piece earlier this week: TDS showed a clip of Wolf Blitzer saying Monica Goodling "may" have broken the law by just hiring Republicans to work in the Justice Department. Stewart pointed out that it wasn't "may" have broken the law: she did break the law.
I don't know why the MSM is so timid.
This clip was made of awesome. I don't know how Hannah Montana could top it.
Unbelievable how stupid this election can quickly become with the help of the "media."
Just turn off your god damn teevee's out there. This country is so thick in the skull when it comes to TeeVee. Just because something is on tv, doesn't make it true, and doesn't make it honest. I just wish this election would stay on the issues instead of floating to US weekly-type gossip.
I used to be an AZ resident and respected McCain once upon a time. He has become so so low and NO SUBSTANCE any more. If we get him, this country is going to really see what it means to take a dive. This man has no interest in the future. He's so god damn old -- why would he? Most old people don't give a flying fuck about the next generation. So it's very telling that this guy is way up there and has no plans for how to fix problems that are going to send us into some very difficult times in the very near future.
Americans are so stupid.
Johnny-Boy could have gone a little farther slamming McCain's ass-tacular add. I one has seen "Farenheit 9/11", there's a great clip of Britanny Spears doing some fuck-tarded hero whorship of George W.
you would think the msm would be embarressed by this clip. but obviously theyr'e not because they will continue to embarress themselves every day. they have no integrity whatsoever, and will do everything they can to put that dumb old man in the white house.
Samson- @ 18:
Just stay strong Samson, stay strong!! :)
Samson- @ 9:
Yeah but to be fair, Obama's not exactly walking around in a pair of flip-flops he picked up in the clearance bin at wal-mart.
The Larry King bit at the end was le piece de resistance!
Lyon @ 36:
this is true. very true. Buuuuuuuut, if he did i'm sure Jason Furman would be there to defend such a choice.

Saint Augustine, i knew getting this crew cut was a bad idea, nyuk nyuk nyuk, but seriously folks, what is the deal with airplane food? (another poor attempt at humor)
seamus @ 33:
Can't slam him too much, he's going to be the next warmonger in chief.
cg @ 31:
She could wear a flag pin and eat some freedum fries ......

I'm surprised Paris parents don't want their money back from the charm school they enrolled her at as a little girl.
flowers: Have to disagree, only HALF, of the "entire country is arrogant beyond belief and the self-importance we exude is disturbing. American’s are selfish, greedy and small minded. Shame on all of us and shame on those who rule our governments. What a complete letdown this entire American experience has become."
Unfortunaltey for the rest of us, they are the more powerful half. The corporate controlled and funded few who control the moronic half. Those of us with any brains, education, common sense, faith, hope and charity etc are frowned upon. It's all about the money baby, the rest of you get f*^% out of the way.
Makes me weep
Today on CNN they had a caption "Is Obama TOO Fit To Be President?"
WTF!!!
uk visa @ 15:
I'll second that!!!
Stewart and the Daily Show crew nails it once again. Instant classic.
What a riot! Is there anyone competent in the McCain camp?
RJ @ 42:
Meaning 60% of him should be obese to be representative ?
Though being too fit for the position isn't that hard against the back drop of what the US has become now.
Is this not INSANE??? And brian williams, king of the suck asses, is going to be his guest? WHY??????
We have our Pravda. We have control of the masses. We have shredded the Constitution and turned our cuntry into nothing more than the 21st Century Soviet United States. Why must we patronize scum balls that are responsible in part for this deterioration of our society?
Damn williams to hell, where he belongs. Let's start a revolution if Obama doesn't turn this sick nation around, because it's going to hell in a hand basket otherwise.
PorridgeGun @ 19:
I see your Spears and Hilton. And raise you Heidi Montag.
It is interesting to read all the posts here though there is absolutly nothing constructive discussed. I think that most of you are to lazy to show up on election day. I will worry the day we can vote online.
GO MCCAIN!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll vote for McCain when he can shit me a $100 billion golden egg.
You think that Obama is going to make you rich? Maybe you would have better luck voting for Jon Stewart.
GOP Supporter @ 50:
It's not about being rich troll; though you wouldn't have the capacity to understand that, back to your bibles and guns.
uk visa @ 15:
No doubt. This was a brilliant segment.
GOP Supporter @ 48:
*yawn*
so lazy... can barely raise my fingers to respond to your criticism... must fight laziness
well, if we had online voting that would mean mccain wouldn't be able to vote... since he couldn't figure out how to do it
zzzzzzzing!
now, i must rest my lazy fingers on my apathetic legs, which are attached to my hebetudinous body. so sluggish. so torpid. so phlegmatic.
*yaaaaaaaaaaawn* num-num-num
Jerry @ 51:
So it is the name calling that is going to solve all your problems. Good old dems and the idea hard work and success is bad and should be punished, welfare and laziness is good we should tax more to protect the paychecks of those that do not work. Idiotic!
GOP Supporter @ 50:
hmmm, you must have missed the GOP mailer--for the past 8 decades...
ya see, the GOP doesn't want the likes of us to be rich. if they did, why would they skew our economic policies to favor the rich?
contact GOP HQ and see if General Gilded can get you back on the mailing list
silly bobo
GOP Supporter @ 54:
damn! why do i have to leave just when the rubes show up to play? i would love to sink my fangs into your lack of comprehension, but DRAT i have to go.
craptacular luck i am having today.
someone, please, try to edu-ma-cate this poor soul
GOP Supporter @ 54:
And nobody understands the value of hard work and success than a chronic fuck-up who spent his entire adult life riding on his father's coattails, and Grampa McCurved-Talk who married his way into wealth. Which of the two candidates got where he is today through hard work and success, again? Which of the two candidates is ready to raise his own taxes so that YOU can get a tax break?
OMG! That was funny.
This is why I love TDS. They have more credibility than the "real" news. And that's damn pathetic.
Oh, and screw you Larry. Retire already.
GOP supporter that's against welfare because the recipients have such a wonderful life in the ghetto that we forced them into. Not to mntion one way or another we will pay for qpressing the poor.
I love the complete juxtaposition of the Madman on Meth, "I will follow Osama Bin Laden to the gates of Hell!!!", with the peaceful Buddha-like invocation of sovereignty.
I can't comment on this, because the video doesn't play.
Even if there was no Democrat running for President, I'd vote for Ralph Nader ahead of Cynthia McKinney... I'm sure almost everyone here would. So a vote for McKiney would still be a wasted vote that would contribute to putting another anti-choice neocon lunatic in the White House with a couple of Supreme Court Justices to appoint. But you go ahead.
GOP Supporter @ 54:
So are you arguing that George W. Bush's success is due to hard work?
Where would his drunken ass be without daddy's connections?
When you see a fratboy douchebag like that become president, it makes you pretty fucking cynical about the Horatio Alger narrative.
Calling the poor lazy is class warfare.
thomas @ 2:
You've got that right! I'm saving the permalink to include in my responses to every single one of the ridiculous forwarded e-mails that I usually ignore from those moronic anti-Obama cretins.
GOP Supporter @ 54:
The clutching to the bibles and guns must be cutting of the blood circulation to your brain, the last thing I am is a dem. Though that you attempt to incite the typically ignorant american understanding (or lack there of) of socialism and attribute that to a americon democratic ideal is hilarious. With people like you about it's easy to see why the US ranks the lowest in the western world in education and why the country is the laughing stock of the world.
Mission accomplished.
Canuknotusa @ 62:
Canadians (and others dickishly blocked by Comedy Central) need to go to www.thecomedynetwork.ca for all your DS/CR needs.
GOP what a hypocrite, much like all Repukes. What about all that corporate welfare. You Repukes really talk a good show about the open market, but as soon as the banks and corporations get their ass in trouble the gov't bails them out. And that is a shitload more welfare cost than what is distributed to those in need.
And just in case you think I'm all about welfare let me tell you, I and my wife have worked all our lives. From mid teens to our retirement and I don't sweat the taxes because that's the way the world should work. It's not just I've got mine Jack the rest of you f*^^off, which is the Repuke mantra.
Video doesn't work for Canadians.
If you want our perspective, post a version that we can see.
Canuknotusa @ 70:
The Quicktime and WMP links work for us. Look a couple posts upwards for your ticket.
I think everyone in John McCain's campaign should be locked in a viewing room to watch this video. When they see what a McCain Presidency would REALLY be like, I have no doubt they would then cast all their votes for OBAMA!
Canuknotusa @ 63:
Right-click over the wmv or mov download option and then choose 'save link as'. It wouldn't play for me either until I was forced to keep a copy for myself using this novel technique ;-)
This needs to be seen. By all. Everywhere. ASAP. But I am not holding hopes the “liberal media” will cover it.
McCain is really totally our of his mind ... a frightening possibility if we can't get people to see through all the media false adolations. They don't think for themselves and believe anything and everything these biased news casters say.
