Exxon John does a photo op at an Exxon oil rig

I guess the only plus for McCain on this trip is that there wasn't an oil spill.
Sometimes political attacks materialize all by themselves. John McCain is set to board a helicopter today and travel 150 miles off the Louisiana cost to host a campaign event on the Genesis Project oil rig.
The overarching point is to stress the Senator's newfound commitment to offshore drilling. But the stop also plays into a meme critics have been pushing for weeks. The oil rig on which McCain will be speaking is partially owned by Exxon Mobil. According to the website RIGZONE.com, the energy giant has a 38.38 percent share in the Genesis Project, topped only by Chevron's 56.67 percent.
the DNC sends out an email hitting McCain for his oil rig visit, adding, among other things that "on that rig, it took 10 years from the date oil was discovered until the rig he will be standing on today produced a single drop of oil.
What, 10 years you say?

At least he wasn't piloting a tanker. Or a plane.
All in all, McRandy would still rather drill lobbyists. It just doesn't pay as well.
Same old drill.
haha! grab those pics and tie him to exxon in every way, shape and form!
If we play our cards right, oil can be obsolete in 10 years.
[Deleted. Off topic. It's a great link, Michael, but you should post it on an Open Thread. :D Thanks! Site Monitor]
Classic! At least McCain isn't in front of a green screen. Sometimes Karma kicks ass!
So if we drill, drill, drill as the Repugs and McLame will have us do, in ten years Exxon, etc will be able to start marketing their newfound black gold on the open market when oil is around, oh, $350 a barrel, and American consumers will continue to vote against their economic interests based on fear and lies.
he´ll be dead and gone before they get oil out of that rig... what the fuk does he care... what a hopeless hack elderly shill...
McCain has baggage, Wendy Gramm author of the Enron loophole and wife of Philip Gramm , McCain's BFF.
wanna see how McCain is linked and is a friend of the commodity scammers.
If I were a reporter in the liberal press covering this event, I would have to inject my personal opinion that McCain is acting like an elitist into my report.
None of that oil will go to heat homes or run the family car here in the U.S.
And chances are good the oil will be sold to other countries. Right now, oil from the US is being sold overseas. PPppfffftt!
WTF is this genesis project oil shit??? Sounds like some kind of lame star trek knockoff..... McCain luvs him some oil money ehh... Fine, fuck him and his oily boyfriends! Don't slip and bust yer hip poking around on that derrick lookin for a photo-op old man.... You ain't some young 'weak'-gun wrecking jets and chasing tail in Nam and the P.I. anymore you old fart. On second thought, yea, go ahead slip and fall on yer ass asshole.....That ought to make a good photo for newsweak. But don't die, I wouldn't want ya to up and croak fucker. That wouldn't be nice of me.... I'd much rather see you stick around and have your ass handed to you by the voting public this november.. Then maybe you will take your tired lookin ass, and your trophy wife and your jerk-talkin express and all your 'married into' money and trot your pompous butt off the public stage for the last time and just go back to Arizona or some other locale and just be old....Old and retired once and for all. Crap, I'm about as sick of looking at your bloated mug as I am of looking at Chimpy. There's not a piss puddles worth of difference in either one of yas.....JD
I'm not a great one for nationalization, but I keep hearing that we are not drilling American oil. Well if it belongs to Americans why don't we insist it only goes here and is priced without profit?
Sure pay the drillers for their work, but in the same way we pay a mechanic to fix our car.
Will old John McDrill soon be chanting, "Exxon, Exxon, Exxon America?'
Nobody wears ties on an oil rig. What a pussy. Unless he sucked down 6 dramamines and took the 12-hour crew boat ride in Fay-chopped seas, he's just another freeloader. There's no room for freeloaders out there.
On the up side, the roughnecks probably got really good food that day.
No worry. If McCain wins/steals the presidency we won`t see a drop of any oil from here.My guess is that we won`t be around ten more years if this fool wins.
Did he have a "Mission Accomplished" banner hanging behind him?
McCain just took the real age test. Turns out he is really 82, which means the oil is ready now.
For the record, I worked in this industry until last year. My employer did a pile of work on the Genesis rig. 10 years is accurate. It is also typical of deep water (over 1000 ft) developments.
Continental shelf development is a lot faster. Nobody in our crappy news media has bothered to make that distiction or ask McSame how deep the water is where he wants to drill.
10 years...Same amount of time it'll take McCain to locate the border is between Israel and Iran.
The current price of gasoline is so high that businesses that have catered to, if not literally defined, the so-called 'higher standard of living' that Americans like to brag about are either filing for bankruptcy, or going out of business completely. So a good place to hold a campaign event is aboard an oil rig!?!
Why is this man even running? He clearly has no intention of winning! Is it his 'ol lady's idea? She's been nagging him about being First ('Ol) Lady for so long that, now, he just goes along with it to get a little peace, but had no idea it would ever get this far out of hand, is that it!?!

Gee! I always wanted to quote my own comment... Please, for those paying attention to detail, please omit the is from my previous comment...
Exxon John and Pharma Cindy.
Ruthless People @ 25:
Corporate cousins.
Jack @ 14:
Cool yer jets. You sound like an O'Riley poster.
Genesis is just the name of the rig. Rigs are named like ships. Shell has Mars, Norsk Hydro has Troll. Get over it.
Genesis was Exxon's first foray into deep water production. It's a production platform, as opposed to a drilling rig. It will stay in place until the field is "dry." Drilling rigs make holes and then move somewhere else to make more holes.
At the Evangelical Church - Obama kinda gave McCain a hug. Maybe he wanted to frisk his back in order to feel if there were a rectagular device, ya' know like connected to an earpiece (that feeds him info). Let's say that-at the debates- Obama really were to do that and really were to discover a box inside the back of his suit jacket and he then very mildly assaulted McCain in order to stop McCain from fleeing....thus exposing the fact that McCain was cheating. It becomes clear that McCain was wearing a device in violation of the rules of the debate (and therefore deceiving the public before the Presidential election).
What would the reaction from repugs on TV be ?
"OH MY GOD !! OBAMA IS SO UNETHICAL AND DECEPTIVE !! LET'S BE HONEST HERE FOLKS !! HONEST WITH OURSELVES ABOUT THIS. OSAMA, I MEAN OBAMA WENT TO GIVE JOHN MCCAIN A HUG ,SUPPOSEDLY GIVE A HUG. THAT'S WHAT WE ALL THOUGHT . THAT'S WHAT EVERYONE BELIEVED,RIGHT? NOW WE KNOW THAT HIS REAL MOTIVE HAD NOTHING ! NOTHING !! TO DO WITH COMRADERIE ! IT WASN'T THE WARM NON-PARTISAN GESTURE WE ALL THOUGHT IT WAS. WE WERE DECEIVED. WE THOUGHT 'WOW ! WHAT A GOOD SPORT OBAMA IS. ' HE WAS PLAYING MR. DETECTIVE. HOW CHILDISH !! HOW DISHONEST ! I ASK YOU FOLKS - DOES THE AMERICAN PUBLIC WANT A STEALTHY PERSON LIKE OBAMA TO LEAD THE COUNTRY??"
These are the tactics they have been using and will continue to use. These tactics will be effective. Why ? Because a large percentage of Americans are into dog-fighting, beer, cock fighting, whiskey, Christianity, pick up trucks, Britney Spears life, on-line pornography, wars, hating brown people, not caring about people over there in them other countries, etc. etc.
fastfeat @ 26:
Exxon John gets money from big oil while Pharmaceutical Cindy gives it to the drug companies for personal use.
mcgramps is for offshore drilling because his wife the beer baroness is against in-bed drilling.
However a little boinking in the pool cabin with Gerardo the pool boy is all good!
Thank God Obama's not taken in by the "Drill Our Way Out Of It" nonsense...
Ooopppppssss.
19 kilo@27;
That's a good one.. Never been compared to Billo... hmmm. Maybe I'm being a meany to gramps but I didn't know what the Genesis name had to do with.. And it does sound like a Star Trek storyline. So thanks for the edumafication.. Ya might have a point and I'll cede you know more about this oil industry and its naming conventions than I... But I stand by my view regarding Bush and McCain.. Not a piss puddles worth of difference.. Maybe that works for you but not me.......JD
"Coast." It's spelled "coast."
Its Me Ya Krazy @ 4:
The Right is so twisted at this point they think showing up on an oil rig someone means the price of gas will go down if they elect McCain. They are f*cking crazy but I swear that's what they think.
Genesis?
And God said, Let there be oil: and there was oil
And God saw the oil, that it was good: and God divided the lighter fractions from the heavy ones.
And God called the light one Gasoline, and the darkness he called Tar. And the kerosene and the naphta were the first refined.
And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
And God called the firmament Offshore Rigs.
10 years? I don't care if it takes 100 years!
Wasn't the Genesis Project from Star Trek: The Search For Spock.
Interesting that Exxon chose to name it with a biblical reference. If Exxon relied on any of the junk science that the religious right espouse, they would be out of business. I mean, geology totally proves that the bible is bullshit.
Is that one of those Chinese/Cuban rigs?
moniker @ 38:
What's a little outsourcing among multinational crooks.
crazylikeafox @ 34:
So true.
And unlike W's unsuccessful "begging and blowing" junket to persuade the Saudis to pump more oil, the MSM will portray the friendly pandering here as proof of of McCane's "negotiating skills". And Joe Six-Pack will drink it up like a Hummer sucks gasoline.
Jay@36;
Yep, I do believe you are right..... I knew it was some kind of Star Trek thing...
Not sure if the oil rig naming guru was a trekkie or a Jesus freak... Guess it really doesn't matter that much. We all got bigger fish to fry.. Like why oil anyway??
At this point seems like a suckers bet to me. If its gonna be five to ten years before dick happens anyway, why bother? Why not just sink the R&D money into what we all know has to happen anyway??.. Develop a viable replacement.. Hell even T. Boone Pickens, big shot rich fuck knows the deal.. We need to get the fuck off oil.... Christ, a heroin junky seemingly can get off that shit easier than we seem to be able to get off oil... Talk about not willing to admit ya got a substance problem... What's the holdup? Do we need a seven step program for oil addicted nations or something???? We're running out of time here....JD

This is old news and besides even if he would back it, he would only do so if it would brings revenues for alternatives fuels research. He has maintained his position on alternative fuels since the primaries. McSame's true colors should be quite evident especially after the photo-op event.
just dont put an EXXON your ballot anywhere near the name
JOhn THE BuSH REPUBLIcAN MCcAIN
What I don't understand about ExxonMobil is how they are raking in record profits, and yet not show as much in the stockholder share prices.
I sold my ExxonMobil shares several months ago when it was about $15-$20 more per share. Today's closing price was $77, and I sold it when it was around $93 per share.
All in all something's really fishy when it comes to the discrepancy between shareholder prices and ExxonMobil's record profits.
While the big corporate gas giants are there to make billions and billions of dollars, which I see as the cause, they're only using GOP politicians to keep their profits rolling, and not have to be investigated under Bush's (or McBush's) watch.
Why is everyone talking about drilling? The really problem is we do not have the refineries. I think we have not built a refinery in ten years.
Gail @ 45,
Actually, I think it has been over 30 years.
Why is it these fools continue to lie to the public and say that the majority of American people want these idiots to do more drilling?
We are all communicating with thousands of people, all over this country and there has been few that think we should be digging up more of our precious land for these lying dogs.
I hope that Nance sticks to her guns this time and refuses to allow this crap on the table. She needs to just run the clock out, would be her best deed.
Like everything else they do. They are lying like dogs in heat
By the way, I love this video. It fits the old 73 year old, lying ass fool.
What a slimey, diseased little whore McCain is. This ought to be good for many millions in additional campaign contributions. Maybe even good for deposits in off-shore personal checking accounts.
31 Johnny2Bad Says: Thank God Obama’s not taken in by the “Drill Our Way Out Of It” nonsense…
Ooopppppssss.
I think Obama is saying that he is willing to budge a little. He never wrote it off. A comprehensive plan is needed, and every plan needs a little wiggle room. McAnus wants us to believe that drilling is the only option, and he is the one not willing to budge.
The Guardian had a nice piece on this trip the other day. It's a wonderful example of the truth having a liberal bias. For example: "Jointly owned by Chevron and Exxon Mobil, the rig represents an environmental risk great enough that the US coast guard has set up a "safety zone" around its perimeter to prevent accidents." As usual, they manage to write a brief article that's loaded with facts and gets to the point better than most long articles from U.S. news outlets. Exxon John indeed.
