For a preview of what's to come with Biden on the ticket, today he fired back at McCain's multiple homes with a nice little gem.

icon Download | play icon Download | play

This was such a powerful way of working McCain's housing problem from this past week into the current economic situation facing America. Biden delivered it perfectly and the crowd loved it. You can bet the right wing is ready with a counter strike, but I don't think that will faze Biden.

Obama's and Biden's full speeches available here.

Attack dog, was it?

Love it!

Keep hammering, Joe, and don't stop until McSame is sitting in a rocking chair whittling sticks on the front porch of one of his McMansions.

The Straight (Jacket) Talk Express got its stupid , lying ass kicked today by the Straight To The Chops Express ............

Not so fast. Joe Biden knows somebody who owns multiple houses (i.e. Mc-I'm-A- POW). So, Biden is the elitist.

time for some blue collar style ball busting.....

I can't remember the line verbatim, but besides the "kitchen table" line (which will have the most resonance with John Q Public), my favorite line was when Obama introduced Biden as (paraphrasing here): "what others pretend to be...a true statesman who is actually tough rather than just chest-thumping sloganeering" (something like that)

Biden is exactly what this campaign has needed for a long time. He talks straight and fair and isn't afraid to level with his audience or the American people. I also liked it when he referred to his wife and then spontaneously commented on her beauty. It's stuff like that that connect with Americans and show him to be authentic.

If you read Obama's speech, it kinda gets to ya. I didn't like the idea of Biden at first. Now, he seems fairly well suited.

He sure as shit will blow the doors of McCain and crew. LOL thank god HRC was not chosen.

What has me hottest right now is the BULLSHIT double standard that kept Sebelius off the ticket, and by that

I mean ONLY HRC could be veep, no other woman, cause it would piss of the HRC harpies. Fuck that and Fuck them.

Attention all HRC harpies, you can go back to making your husband a miserable wretch instead of the whole NATION!!

AHHHH!

Make sure that everyone that you know is registered to vote. Here are the deadlines and links to voter registration in your state. PASS IT ON!

http://www.rockthevote.com/voting-is-easy/important-dates/

McCain's campaign brought in Rove and the negative crap began to fly.

Obama needed a heavy duty attack dog and Biden fits the bill.

The line on kitchen table... to paraphrase was, "Most Americans go home at night and sit around the kitchen table trying to figure out how to make ends meet with soaring gas, food prices, and how to afford college tuition for the kids.

John McCain goes home and the only problem that he faces is which one of the seven kitchen tables should he sit at!"

GO Joe GO! This guy ROCKS.

To all the deligates- Welcome to Denver.

Kitchen Sink, Kitchen Table what ever Democrats have they need to throw it at McCain starting this week.

Haha. Awesome!

7 kitchen tables... that's assuming that there is only one kitchen per house!

I couldn't get the media to play. Is it corrupted?

And that's not counting the dining room tables. And I'll bet those things aren't cheap.
I'll bet they have one that costs over 30k .

Three years.

There were just three years between when Biden passed the bar exame and when he got elected Senator at the age of 30.

How the hell did he do that?

Today's announcement has my spirits up again. Thanks, Obama/Biden.

It's fine.

This is great. One for soaring rhetoric and one for the one-two punch.

7 kitchen tables… that’s assuming that there is only one kitchen per house!

The kitchenettes for the maids don't count..

Looks like Biden is kicking a$s! I like it.

Let's be careful that we're staying on message - it's not the 7 houses that's the issue, it's the total apathy towards those that have 6 or 7 fewer than that.

did you hear joe say i'm here for you people in pennsylvania....scranton who have been forgotten.
that addresses the 'guns and religion' line

I don't like the selection, although I don't know who would be best for VP. Biden is too chummy with the entities that are making life more difficult for americans, like the banks. I think Biden represents all about Washington that Obama says he would like to change.

I love the the fact that the rightists only path of attack is to praise Biden. If they say that Obama has such weak foreign policy experience that he had to choose Biden, they are also saying that Biden's foreign policy skills are commendable. Plus, they have been criticizing Obama on foreign policy for months. No doubt they would have continued to do so no matter who he chose. Are Repubs suggesting that he should have chosen someone less skilled in foreign policy?

What a joke they are. Get ready to slam McCain for being ignorant of economics when he chooses Romney.

cg @ 22:

yes and it's directed at mccain pointing finger(s) often and early at obama being an elitist. he needs to look in the mirror....money can always be brought into the elitist framing

I am creeped out by the idea of changing a VP who represents big oil for a VP who represents big banking.
I will never forgive Biden for the bankruptcy bill. Never.
Obama thinks this is a safe choice. He is wrong. What does Biden bring, besides his willingness to campaign in a way that Obama claims he will not?

Mrs. Language Person says, you mean it won't "faze" Biden. (Not "phase.")

who do you think is a sure bet/perfect v.p...?

Here is a list of our enemies...

1. The military industrial complex

2. It's PR company called the Mainstream Media

3. The low info, high cholesterol, racist, sexist, redneck American public

4. The US Governement

Does Obama/Biden belong in any of those groups?

It was Biden who delivered what may have been the best single line of the whole campaign up till now (and the one that helped blow Rudy out of the water): "Every sentence out of his [Giuliani's] mouth consists of three things—a noun, a verb, and 9/11."

PS: It's "fazed" not "phased."

Too much Star Trek?

Brilliant.

I actually saw this on Fox, who played that soundbite. The drone that was on was adamant about mentioning that the 7 houses aren't, in fact, John McCain's but Cindy's and that the issue of ownership is more complicated than how Obama and now Biden are framing it.

It sounds like they are trying to fit in that Rove memo about how this whole thing is some kind of an attack on the wife of a candidate.
Weak.

I can't wait for Biden to demolish the Republican nominee for VP in a debate, and for him to shove the Republicans' b.s. back down their throats. Whether or not you agree with him on everything (I don't), Biden is the real deal. And he has his own character-building tragedy to humanize him. He's not rich, he didn't try to "marry up". I do think he can be verbose, but at least he's intelligent when he riffs--just try to listen to, or decipher, what George Bush or McCain are saying when they attempt to string together more than two sentences. Yet Biden is approachable, and easily passes that ridiculous "but can you have a beer with him" test that's slithered into our politics.

That's fuckin awesome.

Hot damn! I'm fired up again! Yippee Ti Yi Yay. Go git "em! Knock one out of the park! Let's have a win so big the Dibold "errors" won't make a difference.

From the man who delivered us "Rudy Giuliani is a noun, a verb, and 9/11". If nothing else Biden will find us that one liner that can give us something to rally around, and take it straight to McCain. Its nice to see the democratic party pick a VP nominee who will go straight at the republicans instead of backing down and taking it. Nice!

Zak44 @ 33:

...PS: It's "fazed" not "phased."

Too much Star Trek?

Just a phase, I'd bet.

Did anyone catch Biden's new last name for Barrack Obama? Now he's Barrack America. Love the guy. Seriously, Biden is exactly what Obama needs right now. Let's kick ass in November!

Don't piss on the parade. The vice prez isn't the pope or Jesus Christ. Obama is the man and he chose Biden. That's good enough for me.

1. Biden is one of the few members of congress who is not a millionaire... so he ain't one of the club.

He doesn't live in DC, he still lives in Delaware, drives his own car and takes his own garbage to the dump. He came from a blue collar family and he reflects and lives their values.

2. Obama needs Biden's expertise in the Senate to get his agenda through the gauntlet. Biden knows how to get things done and get bipartisan support.

You didn't think that Obama had a magic wand to make all the blue dogs and repugs fall in line with his agenda did you? Biden's experience in the senate is a crucial addition to his efforts.

3. Obama needed an attack dog. McSame brought in Rove to run his campaign and it went negative to the point of outright libelous. He's not comfortable with that kind of campaigning and Biden has a reputation for his outspoken verbal assaults on the senate floor and judging by his speech today... he relishes the opportunity to smack the piss out of McSame at any opportunity!

4. Obama needed someone to balance out his ticket with extensive foreign policy, national security, and a real depth of experience. As he said, "my VP has got to be able to push back on me, not a yes man. He has to be my last and best adviser. In Biden he's got that!

5. Polls showed that Obama was not connecting with older women voters the way that Hillary did and he needed help in this are because they are the most reliable voting block in elections. Biden does extremely well with this group and "working families" as well.

Biden's work with the "Violence Against Women" Act makes him very useful as a women's rights activist and again popular with that demographic.

the argument that biden represents old washington politics....is weak at best. first and foremost obama is the
boss. secondly 'change' will come with a good understanding of the past.....biden has that understanding
i believe biden wants change himself. i curious to see how the (R) spins this and how some people on this blog react.

Doesn't Biden have his own reputation for misspeaking in public?

A lot of people know who Biden is - they see him on interviews on the morning national "news" programs. I've seen him on the Today show (via satellite) probably a dozen times this year. When he's on TV, he's clear, direct and straight to the point, and he seems to get along with the interviewer, is very gracious and has a nice smile. Even if the masses don't know anything about him, he's a face & voice they recognize. I think that counts for something.

Great pick for Obama, and someone that can stand up and take what the right is going to throw at him

Nice relaxing afternoon now, with the news, and even more enjoyable watching the neocon talking heads having a gigantic hissyfit of EPIC proportions.

IMHO the only way the Democrats will be beat in November is if the repugs steal another election. Have we removed all of the bugs from Diebold yet?

What's with the Oil here advertisement?

ysbaddaden @ 51:

The corporate right wing mainstream media loves to misinterpret and quote out of context. Biden is known for making "articulate" an insult:

“I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”

I hope he flays McCain like that every single day. THANK GOD we now have a barracuda on the job at last!

I am a big fan of Westley Clark but I am more than satisfied with Biden. Now let's take back our country.

I like Hillary, but I really like Biden. He's got experience, confidence, wisdom and humour. Obama chose well.

They will make a great team.

If elected vice president, is Delaware reliable enough to vote in a Democrat as his successor? I think Illinois is. Otherwise, a presidential win could mean the loss of two seats in the Senate.

And the way things are going now, with the anger at everyone in power, I don't know if any area could be considered reliably anything anymore.

I'm into vice.

Well skippy we ARE truly fucked if we think change in this country is going to come from the top down.

Our only chance is that Obama and Biden will be receptive to the People’s issues when they take office. We know what McSame’s about, chances are Obama/Biden won’t be worse but are they going to save us? No way sport, we are the only ones who can save us. Buy less, get out of debt, voluntarily lower your “standard of living”, support local networks of merchants and services……if all of us do a little and set a positive example it WILL add up to a lot. Make sure your own house is in order and support those who you have influence with to help them do the same. It is the only way and the only hope for real and meaningful change.

If we don't do those things it won't really matter who wins because it will remain "business as usual."

'nuff said sport, now you can go back to your usual weekend activities. Me, I'll go back to harvesting organic produce and getting ready to deliver it to town Monday. Got to help feed the people.
