American Family Association boycotts Hallmark for Gay Marriage Greeting Cards

Oh geez, the christianist group American Family Association has their panties in a twist about Hallmark Cards and their new line of Gay Marriage Greeting Cards.
I have to agree with AFA on one point: "Hallmark is a private company obviously driven by greed." Duh. Hallmark is not selling a lifestyle, they're selling product. These cards sell because people in love with each other are getting married!
But would the greedy wingnuts at American Family Association, whose website accepts donations in all kinds of plastic, turn down a "generous contribution" made with the Rainbow Visa Card? I think not.

Wow, imagine that, a for-profit-company willing to do anything to make money. Sure am glad those benevolent, caring, socially aware and concerned oil companies are above that sort of behavior. Boy could we be in trouble if they stooped to such churlish behavior.

Down here in San Diego we have a nice reversal. Doug Manchester, owner of the Manchester Hyatt on San Diego Bay came out publicly against gay marriage to his own detriment. So far, the hotel has lost two large conventions. There's so much new business there, get over it wingnuts.....

From what I remember learning in Sunday School, Jesus would kick AFA's ass out of the church for turning the church into a money making operation.
Well, if the AFA is so determined to stop what Hallmark's doing, then let the AFA BUY those cards, as opposed to hypocritically whining about the "free market" system the AFA supports in all other cases-except when that "free market" system sees a buck to be made from the wallets of gay consumers.
Really, why is it God wants no financial sacrifices from those who claim to act on The Lord's behalf when it comes to anti-gay and anti-choice fueled boycotts?
I mean, if the AFA's boycott of Hallmark is SO righteous in God's eyes, then surely God will provide for the AFA knuckle-draggers so they don't go broke doing what they consider right, in this case buying cards as opposed to expecting Hallmark to give up a successful financial stream and market at no cost to the AFA.
So come on, AFA, BUY those cards, don't be expecting a free ride from a profit-driven corporation solely so you religious extremists and radicals can "harrumph" in satisfaction.
Something tells me Hallmark executives probably aren't losing much, if any, sleep over a bunch of repulsive fossils angry that their homophobia is speeding towards it's rightful, proper place, on History's rubbish heap.

I attended the most wonderful same-sex wedding over the weekend.
a lovely couple that will make a difference for the better in their community.
unfortunately, this issue will take time to correct itself.
I believe that the next generation of leaders to come along will see it pragmatically: let adults make adult decisions on their own (w/o govt).
in the meantime, let's keep our voices out there and enjoy the farcical outrage from the right.

That has prompted many many Yahoo gay groups to get their members to respond to Hallmark, congratulating them on their initiative. That is tens of thousands of members, worldwide. A great response to those self rightous fools in the AFA. It doesnt take much to get the gay community together and into action these days.

My beliefs, by the way, are in total support of free speech. That being said, I find it in poor taste to take what others hold dear and use it as a means to an end - that of humour - when it costs me nothing to find other things in this content-filled world.
