Campbell Brown: Explain to us why you think Gov. Palin is ready to be commander and chief?
By John Amato Monday Sep 01, 2008 12:00pm
CNN's Campbell Brown ripped Tucker Bounds on Palin's national security experience in a way that was pretty stunning. Brown rightly notes that John McCain's whole campaign revolves around national security and it would appear that Sarah is mighty thin when it comes to that topic. Does she instill any confidence in you if she was to take over the White House? My good friend georgia10 alerted me to this as soon as it aired, but I didn't have a chance to make the video. She's got a post up about Palin's AIP roots.
I'm asking about her foreign policy experience...
You're not answering my question...you set a different standard...
I've heard you guys say this a lot. Can you just tell me one decision that she made as commander and chief of the Alaskan National Guard, just one?
Give me one of those decisions, I'm just curious, just one decision she made in her capacity as commander and chief of the Alaskan National Guard.
Campbell, certainly you don't mean to belittle every experience, every judgment that she makes as commander of the National Guard.
I'm belittling nothing, I just want to know one judgment or one decision, I would love to know one decision was, I'm not belittling anything Tucker, I'm really not. I'm curious
Yea, She makes the decision as how to equip, how to command the National Guard of Alaska...
But Tucker, those are the Pentagon's decision, that's Gen. Petraeus, that's the White House. No Governor makes decisions about how to equip or deploy the National Guard---when they go to Iraq...

Campbell surprised me... she usually has her nose up GWB's Butt... but she let this clown have it!
I cant believe what i just watched on cnn Ms Brown commenting on the lady that called Osama a Arab and this bitch said so what if he was a Arab or a Muslim excuse me this hank needs to wake up the last time checked it was for the president of the United States not Iraq or Iran Pakastan this bitch needs to go oh my god
Here are the Top Ten REAL Reasons McCain Picked Palin
http://satiricalpolitical.com/?p=2792
I saw this and was astonished. I have never seen Campbell Brown go after anyone like that. It was as if she were going to say, "Stop the bullshit! Name one!"
He was like Ralph Cramden going, "Hamina, hamina, hamina..."
Excellent!

Campbell Brown is married to Dan Senor, Bush Loyalist and former employee of The Carlyle Group.
Gov. Palin and Iraq
Presumably, John McCain would only select a candidate for vice president who shared his supposedly clear-eyed vision about Iraq, who had also called for -- or at least thought it was a good idea -- to push more troops into Iraq in 2007.
Well, maybe Sarah Palin thought the surge was great, or maybe she didn't. It's hard to tell what, if anything, Palin thinks or thought about the surge of troops in Iraq, or the decision to invade Iraq in the first place, for that matter. A clip search doesn't show any substantive comments from Palin about Iraq during her short term as governor of Alaska, in 2007 or 2008, or at any point prior to that. That includes instances when she was specifically asked about the war.
In an interview with Alaska Business Monthly shortly after she took office in 2007,
"I heard on the news about the new deployments, and while I support our president, Condoleezza Rice and the administration, I want to know that we have an exit plan in place; I want assurances that we are doing all we can to keep our troops safe."
Seven months into the surge, she still either had not formed any opinion on the surge or the war or just wasn't sharing. "I'm not here to judge the idea of withdrawing, or the timeline," she said in a teleconference interview with reporters during a July 2007 visit with Alaska National Guard troops stationed in Kuwait. "I'm not going to judge even the surge. I'm here to find out what Alaskans need of me as their governor."
That's a little weird, since Fort Richardson, near Anchorage, has dispatched countless soldiers to Iraq, including many who did not make it back. And Palin's own son, Track, is an infantry soldier who could go there any time.
Also
In a recent BusinessWeek interview, Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) admitted that she believes the Iraq war was fought because of oil.

I guess she dosen't believe John McCain's view of fighting terrorism in Iraq.
Do d-bags like Tucker Bounds just grow on trees in red states?
...well, Bummer! I was watching and when I heard the mention of Tucker Bounds coming up next I turned the channel, figuring it would just be a big fluffy hug for the ol' Maverick. I hope I can find a YouTube clip...
Gary @ 4:
Since when is trying to get an honest answer instead of spin being a spokesperson for any political party. This is what we as viewers are looking for, real answers.
Tucker Bounds got the talking points down. To bad he does not have any substance to work with.
That's the first sign of life I've seen from
Ms BrownMrs. Senor. But Tucker Bounds shares some personality traits with that other Tucker (Carlson).America's Barack
Gary @ 4:
Asking somebody for an example of something they claim is partisan? It only gets spun that way by the people being asked when they can't produce.
If I tell you I can hit a golf ball farther than anyone and expect you to promote me based on that claim, can I call you a partisan hack for asking me to produce anything at all backing my claim?
Gary @ 4:
Can't say I agree. When I saw this I was overjoyed - finally a journalist who insisted her question would either be answered or this guy would flat-out state he wouldn't answer. He was sidestepping and she wasn't having any of that. I only wish we'd see this kind of thing more often.
I want to see journalists do their jobs, not act as paid shills.
Sarah Palin is qualified to be the VP because her daughter is pregnant, and that's the only reason.
So much for "Country first". McCain & Palin are putting the evangelical vote first, by exploiting Palin's pregnant 17 year old daughter.
Shame on John McCain and shame on Sarah Palin.
Ya, I saw this, and she really let him have it...man he was squirming
[Deleted. McPoster banned-Sitemonitor]
You equate outright lies and spin , which is all FAUX Comedy Channel does , to Campbell Brown wanting a reasonable response to a legitimate question she posed ?
Are you drunk ?
Typical Rovian tactic, as soon as a hard question is asked...it becomes. "belittling".
We are talking about the second highest office in the nation...a breath away from the highest.
Went to far?
Bullcrap she called him on it because he told her an out an out lie. the governor does not control the equipping or managing or command decisions of the NG . It is all federal, the equipment, the decisions on training, deployments other than when the governor can call out the guard for in state emergencies, but even then He/she does not control how the emergency is handled. the mangement and maintenance of the armories is carried out by people who are federal(civil service) employees. So she had every right to call him for his blatent attempt to lie.
A great job by Brown. More journos need to follow her lead and don't let the Repubs avoid the question.
In other Palin news: LOLZ Palin
tucker bounds is truly laughable although he has mastered the republican style of twisting what you say and play the victim. too bad for him, brown pushed back. others would have just let it slide.
dems should also try to learn the art of interrupting and talking over interruptions. frequently, repubs cut through dems' answer times by not letting the dems finish their comments and/or talking over as if they hear nothing until the time is up. moderators usually let this happen.
The Repugs are certainly having to stretch to account for "command" experience in EITHER of their candidates. As valid as any questioning regarding Palin's experience would be questions regarding McCain's experience, as he has NO "command" experience, 26 years of being an unprincipled bullshit artist in the Senate does not "command" experience make. Tucker is one smarmy little parrot. Thanks Campbell for a refreshing attempt at finding ANY truth from the GOP camp. This is all just getting better by the day.
Gary @ 4:
I know it is easy, under the circumstances that have prevailed for the last near-decade, to assume that 'objectivity' in the press consiste in nothing more than stenography, and that any criticism of the Gods of the GOP is partisanship, bias, prejudice, and the rest. But that only goes to show how deeply you, Gary, and the rest of your lot, have been lulled to sleep.
Wake up, now, and smell the roses, because i can assure you, it if the Great Mocha Hope's 'elected,' the stenography will cease for the foreseeable future...
I've got MSNBC on now and I'm considering starting a tally board for the word "Maverick". I would love to see one of those Daily Show mashups of all the times people say Maverick during this convention. It's really starting to get silly.
One thing I'm noticing this time around is the weariness of words and talking points. It's weird. Usually the GOP is so successful with their message discipline. Their constant repetition of talking points sets the foundation for their message, and even clearly untrue things start to take on the sheen of truth. I don't think it's working this time. Something is different, particularly with the word/concept of Maverick. It's not just that it rings hollow, the word is actually starting to lose meaning as they parrot it over and over again, now about Palin as well as McCain. It's starting to take on a mantra-like quality in that it is disappearing into meaninglessness.
These talking points games almost always annoy me, partly because I have to grudgingly admit they are effective. But I cannot recall them ever becoming as irrelevant and meaningless to me as this word "Maverick" has become.
Wow. They should be proud. They've rendered both a powerful POW story and a cool word from Top Gun impotent. Nice work guys!
<blockquote? Gary @ 16 says :
“Real Answers”… seems she wasn’t trying to “get to the truth” she had already decided “what the truth is” and then proceeded to argue and debate the guest…. This wasn’t hard-hitting journalism in the traditional of Tim Russert… but rather a drive-by in the tradition of Michael Moore.
He didn't answer her question ; it has nothing to do with your dishonest and ludicrous assertion that Campbell Brown had what she wanted to hear already decided in her own mind...........
Do you GOP backing simpletons even have a hint of impartial behavior within yourselves , ever ?
@Gary - Why is it that someone becomes the spokesperson for the other's opponent when they ask pertinent questions and highlight falsehoods/holes in the proposed argument? Perhaps you should take into account her frustration at the utterly poor choice of VP.
Hey, Gary -
Everyone here's playing nicey-nice with you. I'm telling you to take a hike, you freakin' GOP troll. You can't REALLY believe what you're talking about, because if you do, you are either a) lying or b) completely and totally incapable of rational, intelligent thought.
Which I guess explains why you're stumping for FAUX NEWZ and Sarah Palin.
Actually Gary, you are right ,she already knew the truth read her response about the Pentagon, she was trying to get ol lying tucker to also admit the truth instead of blantantly lying to her and therefore showing disrespect to her.
Gary @ 4:
Oh dear. She didn't set him up a Tee-ball question which is all Republican fart catchers have come to expect. Welcome to our world sonny. She actually dared to ask a question? Appalling.
.
This clip is an incomplete clip...
HERE is the complete clip...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqKYO7jzqBg&feature=related
When Campbell Brown says, "Alright Tucker, I'm just gonna give it to ya, baby," was she pulling punches or letting him off the hook, BABY...?
.
Gary's idea of "fair" is never questioning Republican talking-points, and doing so is "biased."
IE: IOKIYAR.
He's looking more and more like a shameless troll (if not a plant).
Gary must believe that the truth is all a matter of opinion and that opinion can be substituted for the truth at any time. Gary must also believe that "news" shows should be used by political parties to convey their messages and journalist should report exactly what political parties say just like good stenographers. It is up to the voters to research the facts, because that is not at all what "news" is for. Oh what a world, what a world.......
Gary @ 4:
Oh come on...She wouldn't have gone that "far" if he had answered the question.
He had no answer, because Palin has Zero foreign policy experience, and McCain Campaign won't admit it.
So much for "straight talk", that is quickly becoming double talk.
Give me one of those decisions, I’m just curious, just one decision she made in her capacity as commander and chief of the Alaskan National Guard.
She made the decision to shoot the moose out in the parking lot. It was a Russian moose.
Sarah Palin doesn't have the experience to be Vice President. Bottom Line.
Somebody call that poor man an ambulance! I am sure a good surgeon will be able to sew his nuts back on......
The MsM has a their work cut out for them.
They have take a steaming lump of poo (not the Governor, but her nomination as VP) and they have to gift wrap it.
They have to fight...
1. Her membership in the AIP, Alaskan Independence Party, which hates America SO much they want to secede from it.
2. Her teenager is knocko by an uber redneck
3. She hassled her ex brother in law...bigtime
4. Obama has been running for president longer than she has been Governor
5. She was almost recalled as mayor of the 9500 population metropolis...well it does have a super Wal mart
6. She ran Steven's 527
Must I go on...
Tucker was spinning so quickly I'm surprised he isn't dizzy. The truth is Gov. Palin has no executive experience and he couldn't give one example, not even during a time of emergency when she would have had control of the National Guard.
And the idiot knows that the governor of a state has no control of his/her National Guard when they are deployed under the command of the President.
What it comes down to is the McCain campaign has no control over its candidate and he chose someone for his VP for who is less qualified to fill the role of Commnader-in-Chief (if it comes to that) than any candidate in recent memory.
Gary @ 16:
Well, obviously she wasn't going to get truth from the douchebag she was interviewing, though SHE WAS TRYING. Face it, Palin does not possess the experience and the neoCONS are doing their utmost to spin some into her history. McSame's handlers really screwed the pooch on this one and voters will figure it out. You want the truth?1? You can't handle the truth!!
I love how they talk up "executive experience" and point out that Barrack Obama has only legislative experience in government. Exactly the same as John McCain.
Gary @ 4:
I don't know if you're aware of this, but during interviews reporters ask QUESTIONS. What Campbell did, is NOT what Fox News does.
You're too used to watching Fox New Pundits make 'talking points'. Those aren't interviews. Those are propaganda, with right wing actors trying to tell you what to think.
Fox news is nothing more than a NeoCon tool for spin, lies and half truths. Sometimes they do even worse... like tell their watchers they should go out and kill people who aren't Right Wing nutcases.
It's not like you can't say I'm telling the truth. Remember that their comments are on record.
I'd love to see your response.
Dick Armey is on MSNBC right now and he tried to make some asinine point about Sarah Palin's experience making her more prepared than Barack Obama. Yeah. Right. Tool.
But then he goes on later to say something even more telling. Andrea Mitchell asks him if John McCain needs to do more to separate himself from the policies of Bush. Armey responds with,
"John McCain, more than anybody else has shown that 'I'm about myself, what I will do...new beginnings...the past is the past...'"
Yes, Dick. I think we all realize that John McCain, more than anybody else, is about himself.
Thanks for letting the truth come out.
Campbell Brown: Explain to us why you think Gov. Palin is ready to be commander and chief?
Because she speaks softly and carries a big switch?
I never thought I would say this, but... I kind of feel bad for Tucker Bounds. He's trying so hard to make something out of nothing. Ultimately, though, unlike the princess in Rumpelstiltskin, Tucker simply spins straw into more straw.
Also, as a former Military man I can tell you that Tucker is dead wrong about Gov. Palin having "command experience" because she somehow controls the Alaska National Guard.
From Allhapundit and HotAir-
How would the VP coverage have gone if Obama hadn’t run, Hillary had won the nomination, and then surprised everyone by tapping him as VP? Wright and Rezko and Ayers and infanticide in rapid succession: Clearly, our media would conclude that this dangerously untested ingenue is too unknown a quantity to be a heartbeat away, with Tom Eagleton comparisons gleefully invoked starting, oh, 72 hours in.
Anyone want to pretend to be able to objectively answer how your reaction to this scenario would be any less disconcerting?
sounded something like hannity but for democrats. you know what im talking about, the curious person that just wants to know. we need more of her. lulz
The Repugs are in a panic! :)
king of the asshats
Something I haven't heard anybody say ... is it possible that McSame put Palin up to appease the Right Wingnut loons, only to know that she would eventually fail and withdraw her name. And in doing that so McSame could then choose a VP more to his liking and be able to say to the wingnuts, 'well, I tried, but it didn't work out.'
Speaking of asshats .....................
Here's , dennis !!!!!!!!!!!!
Sarah Palin Wanted To Ban Books From The Library
I'm just shaking my head. This kind of blatant attempt at censorship enrages me. Sure her base loves it though. I just scoped the article, but she does not go over well from what I can see.
Stein says that as mayor, Palin continued to inject religious beliefs into her policy at times. "She asked the library how she could go about banning books," he says, because some voters thought they had inappropriate language in them. "The librarian was aghast." The librarian, Mary Ellen Baker, couldn't be reached for comment, but news reports from the time show that Palin had threatened to fire her for not giving "full support" to the mayor.
Troopergate or Librarygate?
In 10-15 years, Tucker Bounds loses his hair, picks up two or three chins and gains 100 pounds. Any bets?
Forget about the other shoe dropping, the whole shoe closet has collapsed! http://www.huffingtonpost.com/
"36 Orangutan. Says: Sarah Palin doesn’t have the experience to be Vice President. Bottom Line."
But..but...she only has to attend funerals and break ties in the Senate.
Even she could do that. Have you no confidence in this person? It's because she's a woman right...right...saaaay it...saaaaay it!!
Ladies and Gentlemen, this is the essence of "political debate" in this country, thanks to years of Lee Atwater and Karl Rove. This is where our country is now.
Orangutan, I'm just jerkin' with ya to make my point.
Now, now, let's not all bash Gary for its obvious GOP lackeydom, for its whining when the McCain campaign can't answer some very simple questions then plays the "oh, poor us, we at the McCain campaign are so unfairly picked on when we can't answer questions in ways both logical and positive for our candidate."
Oh, all right, let's all bash Gary, reminding it all the while just how massively unpopular the Bush Jr Administration and Republican party are with the majority of the voters.
If Bounds had just answered the questions at the start, then he wouldn't have looked so increasingly desperate as Mrs. Dan Senor had to press him harder, which just made Bounds look even more pathetic and whimpering than usual.
And regarding the "Maverick" meme, that's an appropriate moniker considering how much horse shit the McCain campaign throws around on such an active basis.
I was just flipping through the channels yesterday, very rarely watch CNN, MSNBC or FOX, because they don't usually press the GOPtards for anything other than its usual cotton-candy thin spin, but happened to catch this interrogation, and was so stunningly surprised, especially considering how Brown is usually such a reliable Republican lackey herself.
Good job Campbell Brown, do it more often.
.
I sense that Sarah Palin costumes will be all the rage this Halloween...
http://www.buycostumes.com/Naughty-Librarian-Plus-Adult/20892/ProductDet...
.
" Palin made decisions of trops sent to Iraq " ???
Yeah, Palin made the decision to follow orders of the federal Gov't ordering out troops?
McCain Campers will never be able to answer these questions if they never get asked them..
Then as Tucker bounds can't talk in support of his candidate. He immediately goes into trashing Obama mode as an answer.
*Why didn't he use the " Alaska Proximity to Russia ", as Govenor qualification??
They holding that qualification back as an ace up their sleeve?
ysbaddaden @ 44:
Sarah Palin, Hockey Mom
McCain aides whose judgment I trust are impressed by Sarah Palin. One was particularly amused by this exchange: A nervous young McCain staffer took it upon himself to explain to Palin the facts of life in a national campaign, the intense scrutiny she'd be under from the media, the viciousness of the assault that she'd be facing, etc.:
Palin: "Thanks for the warning. By the way, do you know what they say the difference is between a hockey mom and a Pit Bull?"....
Gary @ 4:
Gary what are you talking about? She was asking a completely legitimate question. he was evasive and she went after him. Surely the role of journalist, no?
And it's nothing like Fox. The problem with Fox is that they don't ask questions, they simply make stuff up. 'a terrorist fist jab?'
#53 Move on people, nothing to see here,
... and how many wives later?
Sarah Palin looks like Laura Rosen on Battlestar Galactica. That should be enough for anybody!
Gary @ 16:
What, did she not give Mr. Bounds ample time to answer her question. Face it, the right will do anything to get air moments to attack, never defend. Right into Obama this, Obama that.
It clear, they can't be positive, always negative, always somebody else's fault, some other fear. It simply is not in their DNA to do anything positive.
hey dweeb
Explaining how the freshman governor is ready to be president day#1 by telling us how obama is NOT as ready
to president on day #1.........nope not answering the question.
MCMetal @ 51:
Take a stab at it. McMetal. C'mon, you don't usually take a stab at anything, more the mouth breather type. Give it a shot.
Fortune favors the bold.
the dems are doomed
dennis, you can play out all the scenarios you like.
Bottom line...we are discussing the REALITY of the GOP.
We have our candidates...involved, committed to public service, believers in the American dream and that America is about ALL the people, not just the lucky few of us, they are experienced, they have shown that THEY have been right on the issues (in case you hadn't heard...the IRAQIS have asked for a timeline and are holding to that demand...it is not negotiable).
What does the GOP have...back room politics to agree on a VP nominee, failed policies, candidates who don't even know the correct layoff of the modern map, have been on the wrong side of every issue, voted literally 100% of the time with a President who's policies have led to 4,000 needless troop deaths, the killing of tens of thousands of innocents, illegal invasion of a country, the undermining of basic human rights and American rights, the destruction of our economy, the wholesale selling out of the American worker, the dividing of our people, the destruction of American prestige in the world, reductions in worker protections, endangering American children with bad healtchare policy...do I need to go on?
Give me ONE...ONE real reason that ANYONE should vote for the GOP.
The way I see this video is that they both agree that McCain has foreign policy experience 'hands down' over Obama. This is brought up a few times in the 4minute GOP commercial just in case you didn't hear it the first time.
In the end she allows Tucker to summerize by stating that together McCain/Palin have more experiance than Obama/Biden.
I know it "sounded" probing and challenging but in the end McCain is Mr. Experience and Obama is the foreign policy lightweight.
She is a very cagey GOP operative.
Palin: “Thanks for the warning. By the way, do you know what they say the difference is between a hockey mom and a Pit Bull?”….
A pit bull eventually spits it out?
Clinton had no experience and he left this nation with peace and prosperity. McCain's experience is voting with Bush 95% time in destroying the Clinton legacy. Is this the experience this asshat is referring to in John McCain he wants for our country?
He still dodged the question that the McCain campaign are the ones, not the Obama campaign, who made experience and issue and then nominates an 18 month governor...more like 12 months if you back out her pregnancy...of the 3td least populated state in the nation that isn't even connected to the US mainland, Palin's way out there both literally and figuratively!
still waiting for a good educated answer regarding
comparison between Biden and Palin to be commander
and cheif day#1
More "talking heads" are realizing that what they are saying about Palin will either make or break their own careers based on the "credibility factor" alone. It could be that Campbell Brown, media whore extraordinaire, is either playing "bad cop" right her and setting up the position that everyone already knows and that is that Palin's control of her own national guard is tempered by the Pentagon (duh!) OR that there was plenty of negativity directly toward Campbell Brown as an anchor of a supposedly "credible" news station - people calling for her ouster actually following her nonsensical blather during the democratic national convention. I'd love to see the numbers for viewship of CNN versus CSpan once Campbell brown "outed" her true intentions. Everyone I know wrote scathing letters to CNN management and watched the remainder of the convention on CSPAN.
Besides, it's high time we began formulating our own impressions and thought processes based on fact as it unravels. We certainly don't need media whores spewing their propaganda based on a paycheck in our faces. It's time to boycott CNN just like we've done to Fox News. It's also time to boycott every last one of their sponsors where it hurts - in the pocketbook.
If today's journalists and media puppets want to maintain a shred of credibility, they need to begin speaking the truth. Fake support for McCain's crazy, demented choice of Palin illustrates just how "lowly" each one of them feels themselves to be. They KNOW without a shadow of a doubt that this woman is unqualified; hell, any one of them would be as qualified or more qualified than this woman.
It's "truth time" for our media and time to begin reporting accurate poll numbers. People are having none of it and thanks to the internet, are no longer watching their programming or purchasing newspapers.
We've been propagandized out the whazoo and are damn sick and tired of being played like a mouth organ (sorry Sarah but I couldn't resist the pun!**snark/snark**). Our news media have become the laughingstock of the world!
BELIEVE NOTHING YOU HEAR ON THE FASCIST PROGRAMS OR VIA THE AP! It's all happy horseshit.
The other day I was snarking and bitching about Campbell Brown letting herself get spun by the McCain campaigns Michael Duhaime. She got all tripped up by the right wing tactic of asserting an amplified version of a nonsense position and trying to fight them back down to just the nonsense level rather than pursuing all the way through to reality.
My apologies to you, Ms. Brown.
I haven't been here for quite a while and why I left has just been reinforced. So C&L now thinks Campbell Brown is a hard-hitting journalist? This is just pathetic. I watched that interview and she looked like more of an idiot than the idiot she was badgering. You guys need to pull your heads outta Obama's butt and take a deep breath. Has Ms. Senor or any other talking head ever badgered Obama or any of his surrogates for answers to any questions like this? You would all be outraged if that happened but, of course, it won't.
I'm a life-long Democrat and disagree with McCain/Palin on about every issue but the morons that have taken over the Democratic Party have killed it and made us no better than the Republicans. Many of us long term Democrats are just disgusted with the political discourse and unseemly behavior by those who are supposed to be on "our side".
Watch. When Palin drops out because of the GOP's incompetent vetting process the narrative will be it's the fault of the Democrats, the blogs and the Obama campaign. When was the last time a "personal responsibility conservative" took responsibility for anything?
Well with the help of the American people the US could have a President who's only experience is winning a Miss Congeniality contest. Yes McCain can't remember what he eat for breakfast so he quickly losing his mine and Sarah Palin could be the Commander-in-Chief. The Middle East Leaders and those around the world will be coming to the USA for Sale because Sarah is clueless and dumb. I hope Sarah's younger daughters get a Mother before what happen to Bristol happens to them as Sarah is to busy with her career and her husband is fighting his drinking problem. As long as the Church gets RNC kick back money they will bless all the sinful actions of the GOP while attacking others who might not have done anything. Money is ruling the USA and Satan is in charge. When a Mothers pushes her daughter of on another kid because she doesn't have time to be a Mom and says this is the example of Family Values we should teach our own kids. Teflon John says marry a rich woman and live off her for the rest of your life. Sarah's resume is Miss Congeniality and Todd is in the bottle because he can only get hand outs and favors because of his wife. Now Levi could marry Bristol and do the same and he to might be hitting the bottle to kill the paid of being a male failure.
wait a minute Governor Palin was able to RAISE taxes
on oil co. profit....bigger checks for the legal residents of alaska.....like social welfare program. when obama talks
about windfall profit taxation he is ridiculed
simon @ 60:
I think you're both wrong. It was a scripted interview made to look like Joe Schmoe being asked a serious question. It's the network's way of diluting the intense anger and scrutiny which the american public is directing toward Campbell Brown. Campbell Brown won't be long for network news programming unless she's hired by the comedy station, Faux News. No one watches these morons.
I was shocked to learn the number of viewers who wrote to CNN regarding the overt cynicism and whoring sycophant-ism of Campbell Brown. She's a cunning, sly hypocrite and this "fakery" we just saw was right out of a soap opera script. Look beneath it all. Campbell Brown's fighting to save her professional life at this point. Now we also know her role in the presidential debates was bogus as well. Her personal credibility and career is shot.
Cameron Brown needs her own show! You go girl!!
LOL -- well I'll give him credit for not starting to cry.
Look what happens when the press does its' job!
I like her.
I've always been suspicious of women who constantly refer to themselves a a something-Mom, i.e. hockey-mom, soccer-mom, cheerleader-mom. This having an identity through what you kid does is way past kinda creepy. You see the stickers on the back of the Escalades and Suburbans. "My kid got student of the month at Wilsona High", "My kid did made District all-stars", "My kid got pregnant faster than yours and according to our religious beliefs has decided to keep it"... well why not, aren't you proud of her.
ysbaddaden @ 69:
So, not a man you can have a beer with, but......what? A rabid dog? A trained animal?
Bluesage @ 74:
Right on! This was a total scripted piece by CNN and Campbell Brown in order to dilute the lies about Palin. Palin's experience with the national guard is about as significant as mine. Give me a break here and people...open your eyes. It's all about the typical "smoke and mirrors" of the slick, filthy Republiscum. Look between the lines. Do not be so easily fooled. Campbell Brown is a card-carrying Republiscum who is using her position to further line her pockets with gold. What is her background anyway? What are her "true" connections? Let's dig deeper because there is little doubt that Campbell Brown has much to fear in terms of her own skeletons. She's got them, trust me.
SFnomad @ 50:
I was tossing this around with Mr. G last night for a while and it is entirely possible. McCain clearly favored Pawlenty or Romney (even though it is said he can't stand Mitt). But he needs votes and has desperately been trying to pick up those women for Hillary and the Christian right. McCain pandered to that right by declaring himself pro-life, but his past marriage and treatment of his current wife make him a pretty unappealing choice to women. What better choice than a woman who is pro-life and has the personal background to prove it? Pregnant unwed teenage daughter who is keeping her baby? Excellent!
The problem is Palin really doesn't bring much electability to the ticket outside of those small, special interest groups. In the longer view her background will do more harm than good. So... bring her on board and let the cheering begin from those fringe groups while her family/troopergate/other skeletons are kept in the closet for as long as possible. When they're loosed and the shitstorm hits, convince her to 'resign' for the good of the party and bring the usual white guy on board. That way McCain can appear that he "tried" to diversify the ticket and, hopefully, keep those votes from the fringe. He may not care for Romney but MI is supposed to be an important state this year and repubs salivate like the dogs of Pavlov here when the name of Romney is mentioned. Pawlenty might be enough to lock up PA.
A positively Rovian plan, no?
Gary @ 4:
She asked for one decision Palin had made as Gov Of Alaska concerning the national guard and if McCain's staff had vetted her properly they would have that answer on the tip of their tongue.
Fanon @ 82:
She doesn't spit it out ... she swallows.
He dodged. He obfuscated. He repeated talking points instead of answering questions. Bounds should not be invited back on the show.
Move on people, nothing to see here. @ 81:
From what the local Alaskans say, her little hubby deserves the moniker of "Mom" far more than she does. Mr. Mom in the White House - how cute! Every man in this country now sees his stature relegated to "surrogate Mom' and "First Man"....this is hilarious and fodder for a best seller.
Who would be first to stop sniffing crotches, a pit bull or sarah palin?
Marvin El Canucki @ 80:
And this is the spokesperson for the McCain campaign. He supposed to have his
shittalking points straight. She's lucky it wasn't gramps himself . CNN Breaking News: "McCain loses control and calls Campbell Brown a trollop c*nt in interview." .Liberul Media....my aching ass....this is what a good reporter is supposed to do! Ask the tough questions, and get the truth. If Tucker Bounds and his ilk have made claims that Palin has more experience than Obama and Biden combined, they damned well better have specific answers than vague, bogus replies.
Way to go, Mrs. Dan Senor!
I could have given a good example of Sarah Palin's "executive experience...." She sold a state-owned airplane on E-Bay!
sophya @ 83:
Whaa? What office is she running for?
Gary @ 16:
OK Gary -- what was the answer that Tucker gave her?? Do you feel he answered the question?
Sarah Palin's nomination is the Toilet-Plunger-Handle-Up-The-Ass from the GOPhuqing fascisti to the Republic, a final act of disrespect by the oppressors, an ultimate admission of the irrelevance of our institutions, and the consumately insulting way to say: "Fuck You!"
many of the round table type journalists/media types/authors know this is a very RISKY pick. some of the intellects/strategist on the (R) will admit to it. it's obviousbut your robot(R) talking point idiot will speak this nonsense and look ridiculous.
she had a newborn 5 months ago. this is a Down syndrome newborn....she is one hell of a leader carrying a baby 9 months out of 19 months as governor and last 5 caring for a newborn...in addition to all these routine executive level decisions. i hope she shares how she does it and share parenting of 3-4 other children
Actually this Palin VP pick is a very interesting and great choice for the media at large...
There is so much fodder to choose from, it is literally a smorgasbord of scandal, questionable quotes, and ill conceived talking points…
Bravo McCain, considering the other potential more experienced and media vetted viable GOP VP candidates you could have chosen…
Looks like McCain's hail mary pass may have been intercepted. Game over?
Vic @ 35:
Ever read Bloom County? They used the Bassalope for a weapons delivery system.
Palin is a distraction. Be ready for Martial Law. This has been in the plans for years. McSame and his pathetic campaign is just what they want the public to see. The question remains, when will the false flag attack come and martial declared? During the convention, when they can blame it on the 50,000 prostesters? Or will it come before the election, so that they can cancel the election? Or will it happen right after the election when Obama wins by a landslide and they weren't able to siphon off enough votes for McSame? There is no way these criminal will give up the power they have stolen over the last 8 years.
Gretchen the aspiring elitist @ 84:
Well, the bets are coming in.....and the market watch which predicted Joe Biden's selection is also predicting that Palin will either renege or not be confirmed. Imagine how the stock market would squirm if/when Palin had to take over in the probable decline of McCain due to his cancer?
This may be the GOP's trial balloon when all is said and done. It may be a Rovian trick but somehow I doubt it. I found it interesting that yesterday when the GOP was saying that the Chimp was in Texas, his own father outed him on the Limbaugh radio show with their "call in". Where is Chimpy anyway? The WH said he was watching over the hurricane area - yeah, right - he was bombed out of his skull (and managed to get in the "oil drilling meme" even in his drunken slurred stupor. Hope everyone heard it or was it also "scrubbed" since he was partying with Jebbie and Pappy in Kenny? In flicking the stations, I happend to catch it in it's entirety. Clearly, there's a division brewing now between Bush and McCain - a real schism which even the anchors are chatting about. McCain's ad that "we are worse off than we were 4 years ago" is a get even move for the castration he received from Bush during the primaries of 2000. Now Bush is lashing back with a "remote" appearance instead of taking the time to come to the convention. How pathetic! The GOP can't use the theme of caring about the hurricane devastated people now and those stuck at the convention look like they've lost their least friend. Guiliani has been scratched as keynote and Ron Paul's kicking up a fuss as McCain tries to eliminate him from the convention. What a total disarray this pathetic party is in right now. They're going to lose percentage points and the "GOP bounce" (name for a new song?) will go to Obama instead. Can't say they don't deserve what they're getting after praying for rain for Obama's speech. Be careful what you ask for!!
sophya @ 88:
Sounds like solid material for a sit-com!
"The First Daddy"
That Tucker boy did some mighty fine weaseling. That was some of the most agile question avoidance I've seen since the last time a Republican meat puppet was actually asked a question. All to no avail, of course. To his misfortune he was faced with that most feared of all Republican nightmares, a journalist who insists on an answer.

If this is true, the american people need to know about this. Is this perhaps how she was able to afford her personal family plane? Was wondering.....There will be a new scandal for her tomorrow - no doubt about it.
Game over, indeed! McDouchbag can now retire to each of his 7 homes to live out his life with his Botox Queen! If this wasn't so pathetic, it would really be a hoot! You can't make this shit up, that's for sure.
According to wikipedia the Alaska Army National Guard is composed of approximately 1850 soldiers.
I went to high school with more people.
I'd like the MSM to ask questions about the police raids.
LOL. He really pulled that foreign policy experience out of his ass.
Peter G @ 102:
Just goes to show that Tucker Carlson's a "lady" - a total "weanie wimp". And, I might add, with two left feet and zero sense of rhythm. When I recall his abysmal performance on the dance show, I am reminded of every clodhopper who would ask the girls to dance and then get laughed out of the auditorium. That's why he wears the bow tie - Mama's Little Girl/Tucker Carlson. He has zippo stature and credibility now for anything he spews.
I'm outta here again. You people are insane. I sure wish you would stop calling yourselves Democrats and Progressives. You are neither.
I am a little surprised too. However, this must look like a last chance to get out from under the right-wing idiocy that the media has been subservient to for the last eight years. Like someone unlocking the dungeon door.
Palin is such a loony surreal choice even the Campbell Brown's can't swallow it whole - of course if elected, they will have no choice for the next 4...8 years or more. Now's the time to at least try for grabbing a tad bit of integrity.
Every time the Right use the "as much experience as Obama" defense... when they argued Obama's lack of experience disqualifies him... they are (by extrapolation) saying Palin is "too inexperienced", if BY THEIR OWN STANDARD, she has "as much experience as Obama."
If A = B, and B = C, A = C. We learned that in Junior High.
Loonie @ 105:
YES!!
sophya @ 107:
Somehow, I don't think you are paying attention. Move up to the front row of the class.

There are no Rovian tricks involved here. This was bad judgment, weakness (by caving to Dobson), and incompetence (not vetting Palin until after) on the part of McCain. It's more of the same hasty decision making we're so used to.
He would have been better off with Lieberman, Romney, or Pawlenty. But either way, he's screwed if he keeps Palin, and he's screwed if he pulls an 'Eagleton' which would be the mother of all flip-flops. The republicans are failing in their campaign as they are failing this country.
-
It wasn't anything he said about governor Palin that struck me, but when he said "both our candidates have 'command experience'"
It was Wesley Clark that pointed out the fact that McCain has no "command experience" he was a fighter/bomber pilot, got shot down, came home, ran for congress on his experience as a POW. He was never an officer, never commanded anyone has as much "command" or "executive" experience as Biden or Obama.
If I were Campbell I would have said "without using the words "McCain" or "Obama", please tell me what foreign policy decision Sarah Palin has had to make.
Someguy @ 104:
Yeah, but did you lead them in preparation for an attack by the Ruskies? :)
Not outside the realm of possibility, EarthAbides.
Bluesage @ 74:
They haven't had to question Obama or his campaign people like this because none of them have dared to weasel on such a breathtaking scale as Tucker Bounds.
What these right-wingers don't seem to get is, I want to know every little detail about this woman. I'm sorry if it seems I'm being picky and while I don't believe that Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin have a snowball's chance in hell of being elected, they might be AND with the elder senator a mere three or so years away from the average age of death of an American male, I want to know his VP's every little detail. It all comes into play now just the same way it would if Sen. Obama picked a hockey mom, pta member, barely 18 mon. in office govenor not that he would since he has better judgment.
LMFAO..
Repiglickens are so absurd...
You guys should join the conversation about this on The Horn... I am sure Bob Kincaid (6-9 PM EST) and gang are going to be having fantastic talks regarding this whole debacle.

And changes his name to Karl Rove - still number 2 on the FBI's "Most Wanted" list.
Three months before she was thrust into the national political spotlight, Gov. Sarah Palin was asked to handle a much smaller task: addressing the graduating class of commission students at her one-time church, Wasilla Assembly of God.
Her speech in June provides as much insight into her policy leanings as anything uncovered since she was asked to be John McCain's running mate.
Speaking before the Pentecostal church, Palin painted the current war in Iraq as a messianic affair in which the United States could act out the will of the Lord.
Interesting--- at the lower right of the screen is a little flash sign that says "Campbell Brown, Election Center, No Bias, no Bull "
In the full You Tube version she let's Tucker Bounds off the hook at the end and then brings in GOP deep-throater David Gergen for his "analysis".
So, did she do her job as a reporter ? No, because she let him off the hook.
Is this journalism ? No , it's theater because there's a sign that flashes " No Bias, No Bull " while she let's him off the hook for spewing bullshit the entire segment, then brings on Gergen to massage the message right after him .
You're being played , folks .
From the phoney polls to the phoney reporting, you're being played .
This whole mess could have been avoided if this conversation never took place:
McCain Aide 1: "Did you vet Palin?"
McCain Aide 2: "Oh, you bet I vetted her. I vetted her REAL GOOD!"
McCain Aide 3: "Senator McCain, word is back from the field. Palin's been vetted. She's good."
"I'm just trying to point out to you, Ms. Brown, that i have no idea how to answer this question and therefore John McCain has more experience. Sarah Palin has as much experience not calling out the National Guard in her state that all of her predecessors do and that adds up to decades if you think about it."

She totally is in with these folks. She addressed them as governor to express her solidarity with them.
"Commander of the Alaskan National Guard" ROFL
If military commander experience is so very important why is John McCain so exceptionally qualified to be President? Commanding a training squadron for one entire year? Wow thats really some exceptional experience.
Basically McCain has as much "executive experience" as Biden or Obama. In fact by that criteria one could argue Palin is by far the most qualified to be President because of her years of "executive experience" being governor of Alaska and mayor of Wasilla (pop: 5500).
Here dennis , you GOP/Chimpy sycophant suckhole ..........Here's my "shot" :
In this particular instance ..........................The pit bull is overwhelmingly more intelligent ....................And has more political experience , it would seem.
How was that , jackass ?
I found that scary. The interviewee stuck tenaciously to his script and never gave an inch even though his position was absurd. A redneck watching that would be nodding his head, saying, 'Good answers, he's really nailing that Obama-loving MSMer lady'.
I Googled Tucker Bounds, but there is no entry for him. I wonder if this guy is the product of a right-wing religious school, where they learn partisan rhetoric and debate methods.
With all these new revelations and an obviously paper-thin resume regarding candidate VP GOP Palin I'm wondering if she is dropped from the ticket who would want to take her place as second choice for VP GOP candidate?...
I'm wondering if McCain was thinking with his little head rather than with his big head when he decided to pick this woman for VP....
Wow, I'm floored by Campbell, usually she's got no backbone at all. Is Tucker Bounds the father of Bristol's baby? He is quite possibly the ultimate moron and liar in the McCain campaign. How are these people not ashamed of themselves?
Surely you mean Commander-in-chief not 'commander and chief'?
And yet another 'Dismiss Sarah Palin at Your own Peril' article. This one from The New Republic.
The Case Against the Case Against Palin
A very good friend, who is a lifelong Alaskan and one of the smartest people I know, offers this word of caution to those (yes, like me) inclined to take Sarah Palin lightly:....... read on.
She's toast. Why all the buzz?
Record-shattering blog traffic being reported in numerous places.
Baffling.
Wow, what happened to Gary? I bet he's locked the cellar door and changed his name. I think he's just broke dennis' record for rapid and sustained response on off the wall claims.
Gary, come back...... there's things to learn here, so you too can be "fair and balanced."
[No. Gary don't come back. If you want to play with your food, do it on another site. Don't beg trolls to post here-Sitemonitor]
Campbell's approach should be used by all reporters. They usually don't challenge anyone and cop out by implying "well that's what they said, what can I do" instead of "OK I'm giving you a chance to amplify your opinion, but DO IT"
knowing what we know so far what seems less risky?
*so let me see if i have this correctly if mccain gets elected 01/09 and let's do a hypothetical he becomes ill
let's say 06/09...palin would step in as commander in chief.
*let's say obama wins the election 01/09 he becomes ill
06/09....biden would step in as commander in chief.
now what i've actually heard is that palin will learn the presidency let's say there is no time. this scenario happens 06/09......she has NO foreign relations experience. obama has been studying foreign relations
and has been around people with a lot of foreign experience for many months.
when you compare the above situations Biden is ready
day#1 and obama may do some learning. obama has been scrutinized by the public/media for about two yrs.
palin 5 days. obama has talked with several committees/petreaus....met with foreign leaders. that all said the people have NOT had a say about palin stepping in to be commander in chief day#1. if obama goes down we have Biden...if 72.5 mccain goes down we have a palin.......you make the choice.
Whoa.... Tucker Bounds is really dense.
MCMetal @ 128:
Weak, but not the challenge I was referring to, McMetal. The one post @46; the one no dared take an objective stab at; the scenario had it been Barack Obama that had just been chosen to be Hillary's running mate, what would the liberal media's reaction have been to his relative inexperience then? Would Campbell Brown have been embarrassing herself with Howard Wolfson about Hillary's choice and decision-making ability, and what relative experience Obama was bringing to the table just a heartbeat away from the Presidency?
Go ahead, be the first.
... I’m back from lunch. Obviously I’ve pissed some of you off.[Deleted. And the one you DON'T want to piss of is the site monitor. But too late, you have. McPoster banned-Sitemonitor]
what's less RISKY Biden or Palin stepping in as commander in chief if either one president Obama or McCain would not be able to serve 06/09?
Whoa! Damage control needed! http://www.mailonsunday.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1051519/Proud-f----...
Where do all these Tuckers come from?
Maybe their parents are to blame for their conservative idiocy.
Really who names their boy child Tucker?
Or Jonah for that matter.
They had no chance.
Poor Tuckers...poor little Tuckers.
Thanks for your time.

Gary @ 4:
That's just moronic. You can't distinguish between objectivity and neutrality.
She asked for answers, and got evasions and obfuscations. She pressed for answers and got none. That's all you saw. She asked for facts.
It didn't make the McCain/Palin camp look good. That does not mean it was not objective.
Fuck, people are stupid!
I think the fundamental difference is that we have had a good chunk of time to get to know Obama... and according to most polls... over 50% of the voters are going to vote for him.
Palin was picked by McCain in a last minute frenzy to add some spice to his ticket. Nobody voted for Palin. Nobody went through her records. McCain just listened to his gut and now, we face the prospect of seeing her elected.
Without that kind of intensive, white hot scrutiny that Obama has been treated to... we just don't know anything about Sarah Palin. And what little we do know seems to fly in the face of the McCain camp's spin about her.
Voting is based on the idea that citizens can make a choice... and Palin seems to be the wrong choice. But worse than that... McCain didn't even bother to check her out before dumping her in our laps.
obviously tucker bounds gets all his information
from the next stall in the men's restroom at the
minn. airport. this c*cks#cker is so full of crap.
typical response from the repugs is no response
that is appropriate to the question......
we already have one empty headed bastard as president
we don't need another regardless of gender.
Yeah , because everyone equates someone who is an Eskimo , to be a veritable fountain of information and a potential Rhodes Scholar.
You're a dope..........The "buzz" surrounding Palin is 90-something % negative ; just like McDepends' voting record.
Being the Governor of the remotest state for two years and not having a passport until a year ago is not a great recommendation for stepping into the President's shoes should John McCain die in office. The woman just managed to discover Pennsylvania a couple of days ago. Do we want a woman who has not even seen much of her own country running it?
Gary @ 4:
totally disagree...she have tried to get a feather in her cap...but she was representing the sentiment of viewers and readers. it's more than a reasonable question. this guy was doing the usual answering a question without taking a breath. this is the only way to for her situation to deal witha guy like this he would NOT answer the question. we're asking about palin not obama.
what's less risky Biden or Palin stepping in as commander in chief if either president obama or mcCain couldn't after 06/09?
McCain's command experience: Despite losing 5 aircraft in 4 years, McCain (son of Admiral John McCain, then commander of all U.S. Forces in the Pacific) McCain receives 28 medals for 23 combat missions - more than one medal for each mission.
Sarah Palin's command experience: NO birth control for her promiscuous teenage daughters.
Contrary to what is being trumpeted by the
liberalcorporate media:Maj. Gen. Craig Campbell, adjutant general of the Alaska National Guard told the Associated Press on Sunday, "he and Palin play no role in national defense activities, even when they involve the Alaska National Guard. The entire operation is under federal control, and the governor is not briefed on situations."
But of course it doesn't do any good to print this here - this site has nowhere near the reach of Rush or Bill O or FOX.
i don't know what the gop
mensee in palin, she has dried up all my wet-dreams.
Karen @ 142:
