Clock is Ticking as McCain Campaign Hides Palin from the Press
By Jon Perr Thursday Sep 04, 2008 8:00am
On the same day Barack Obama met with the conservative water carrier Bill O'Reilly on Fox News, the McCain campaign made it clear that Sarah Palin won't be talking to any of the media any time soon.
In a jaw-dropping appearance on MSNBC Thursday, McCain aide Nicole Wallace told Time's Jay Carney that the press wouldn't get a chance to take shots at the hockey mom turned McCain running mate.
According to Nicole Wallace of the McCain campaign, the American people don't care whether Sarah Palin can answer specific questions about foreign and domestic policy. According to Wallace -- in an appearance I did with her this morning on Joe Scarborough's show -- the American people will learn all they need to know (and all they deserve to know) from Palin's scripted speeches and choreographed appearances on the campaign trail and in campaign ads.
Given the highly combustible mixture that is Palin's reed-thin resume, radical right-wing agenda and mushrooming portfolio of scandals, Team McCain's effort to field the first stealth vice presidential candidate in history comes as no surprise.
But for conservatives so found of countdowns and ticking clocks, the question now is: when will "Disappearing Palin" meet the press? Apparently, "Sarahcoulda," but won't talk to the media.
The clock is ticking.

One of the many questions I want answered - What books did you want banned from Wasilla's library, and why?
What is Sarah afraid of? I thought she was a pit bull? More like a PUSSYcat
The Talibangelicals have, for the first time, truly one of their own with a straight line to the White House and Dick Cheney's all powerful, unaccountable "Fourth Branch of Government" office, and they are not about to let that be derailed by the Satanic homosexual secular big city media.
Why would they want to hide their newly-born star ? The new face of the Republican Party ? The pit bull with a tampon ?
btw...
I did not see the speech last night (US OPEN!), but my buddy tells me they had videos of the planes hitting the WTC towers just before McSame came out !!!
Please someone tell me they didnt really do this.
How well will the McCain message: "The Republicans are coming to save you from the Republicans" message resonate with America?
The would-be Emperor's new clothes ... except he KNOWS there is nothing there.
If can't face Mr Carney how can you stand up to 'nasty' men like Putin, Ahmedinejad(I know thats wrong) and the like.
And why are (R)'s voices soooo annoying, their pitch and tone is awful.
Joe was actually supporting our chance to vet her and he said later on this morning that the RNC was a DUD!
C. Hussein Jr. @ 4:
Oh Yeah they did! They called it a tribute to the victims of 9/11!
After McSame snooze of a speech...they need Palin out there...she might be the only one with a pulse...i liked what jon stewart said last night.."the republican party is the only party that can get us out of the mess..the REPUBLICAN party made"..lol
"According to Nicole Wallace of the McCain campaign, the American people don’t care whether Sarah Palin can answer specific questions about foreign and domestic policy."
That is outrageous and the Obama campaign deserves to lose if they don't take advantage of this. If there is audio or video of this from Jay Carney, I'd love to see/hear it.
Wow.
Still using 911 for their own agenda...and you thought we were getting rid of Bush...lol
Well if he can't use his lipstick-ed up pit bull, what good is she? If he has to keep her in a cage, how's she gonna protect him?
I heard something about this yesterday but I thought I misunderstood what they had said. My first reaction after reading this post was, Holy Shit, are they making her a Prisoner of Society or a POS
surfjac @ 8:
Wallace -- what a shill 'WHO CARES????'
She's the reason people don't watch 'news' programs anymore.
Anyone wanting to stay informed learns to read and goes online.
And don't forget: mcshame knows where Osama is and he will get him! He isn't going to tell anyone else this secret but elect him and he will get Osama. Every time this man opens his mouth he sounds more and more insane.
lol just realized I was so stunned by the first sentence there that I missed the second sentence which says this was on Scarborough.
Wow...
I sure as hell want to hear her answer questions, a shit load of them.
They were OBSESSED with getting Obama on BillO, but "who cares" if she can talk to the media?
What a bunch of whores!
I know most people don't give a damn what Canadians think, but these people, especially Mrs Hitler(with her book banning) scare the hell out of me.
Does this mean that if grandpa simpson and mrs hitler get in there's going to be a special fire dept(farenheit 451) to handle the book burning?
Bet the repugs are sorry they have agreed to the debate now. Is Ifill feeding her the questions so she can study up on the answers while she is in seclusion?
liberAL @ 15:
Reminds me any Simpsons episode where Homer's fantasizing with the little 'thought balloon' above his head. McCain seems to be living in his own little fantasy world.
I knew this was coming.....a few days ago, in response to reporters' question, McCain told them to read his book. A couple of days ago, he threw a hissy fit and cancelled his appearance on CNN with Larry King. Then the GOP message of the librul media was bad and spreads lies spread like wildfire. Now Palin won't be answering questions.
I'm sorry, but this sucks. These damned repugs are pushing Palin as having more "experience" than Obama and Biden; let's see that experience in action. How is someone who probably never even heard of Azerbaijan until last week going to actually go to Azerbaijan to meet with foreign leaders to try to stop a war?
Oh, I forgot.....Azerbaijan is close to Alaska.
Oh, and by the way, from the AP:
"The jobless rate jumped to 6.1 percent in August, from 5.7 percent in July. And, employers cut payrolls for the eighth month in a row. Job losses in June and July turned out to be much deeper. The economy lost a whopping 100,000 jobs in June and another 60,000 in July, according to revised figures. Previously, the government reported job losses at 51,000 in each of those months.
The latest snapshot was worse than economists were forecasting. They were predicting payrolls would drop by around 75,000 in August and the jobless rate to tick up a notch, to 5.8 percent. The grim news comes as the race for the White House kicks into high gear. The economy's troubles are Americans' top worry."
Well, I guess I don't believe the AP because they are part of that "librual media" and spread lies.
The McCain campaign's stall tactic isn't going to last forever. Palin will eventually have to face hard questions on national security, foreign policy and the economy at some point and when she does everyone will know that she knows nothing. Its only a matter of time.
It's a little surprising that the person tasked as a senior communications adviser to the GOP nominee doesn't understand the role of the fourth estate. Ms. Wallace, here it is: The press acts as a surrogate for the American people, asking the questions that we don't get to ask.
Allowing Palin to meet with Mr. Carney is not a favor to him personally, it is the obligation of any candidate for high office. It is part of the vetting process (which the McCain campaign obviously sucks at!).
Did Ms. Wallace learn her skills in the "Harriet Miers Ostrich School" of vetting? Just stick your head in the sand, let it all swirl around you, and hope for the best?
That they have such open and hostile disrespect for the office of the presidency (and the rights of the American people to be informed) is just about the most unpatriotic display I have ever seen.
Hey, it takes time to indoctrinate a new member of the team. Even John McCain doesn't seem to adhere to what they want him to say half the time.
Is this the strategy - first attack the liberal, biased media elites, then withhold Palin from their scrutiny because all they would do is mean to her? Have I got it? I thought McCain said, "We don't hide from history; we make history." What kind of history is she going to make in hiding? I don't get it.
JonAtWork @ 18:
Olbermann can start using the '24' clock now too!
Ignore the MSM at your own risk Mrs Palin, but when you carp about them misstating your posistions on anything, you will only have yourself to blame.
This is a little off topic but I just got it from a friend: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v235/wannajumpmyscooter/JesusPilate.jpg
Also, hiding her won't matter much when she has to debate Biden. She might have some canned responses there, but he'll probably rip her to shreds.
I'm sure we'll hear about how harsh he was on her. We already heard that with Obama on McCain, although I felt most of that paled in comparison to how McCain's friends went on about Obama... and in some ways, McCain basically trying to steal the slogans and thoughts of Obama and the Democratic party is even more insulting to begin with.
surfjac @ 8:
You think this might mean they're finally owning up to their responsibility/complicity in their destruction and the deaths of all those people? McShitstain certainly bears some responsibility for some of the chickens that came home to roost that day...
Naaaaaah...who am I trying to kid...
There probably are many who don't care. How many?
Someone ask her about the corrupt corporate takeover of our government.
Enquiring minds want to know IF Palin had an affair with her husbands former business partner?
Shocked! The McCain campaign has run out of convention days to use as a reason to avoid all of the media's questions.
She accused Hillary of whining. Now she herself is hiding. Yeah, she's tough alright.
What a shrill voice she has. She thinks it was all good with the speech without mentioning that it was written for her. Those are NOT her thoughts per se. I don't think they will get away with this for long. The media is waking up to a small degree and I hope they keep pushing this point.
Tony @ 30:
Biden will be under strict instructions to treat her gently. There was some kind of poll on some program or other last night which recorded that 57% of respondents (all "Murkin" voters) believe the Lord's Plunger Handle Up The Ass of Democracy is MORE qualified to be Veep than Biden is. Also, that her choice of styles for her glasses had become the latest accessory fad, overnight selling out in NYC and DC...
We are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO fucked.
Oh Oh Another Cheney clone. Can't stand exposure to the light.
Mommy, Mommy there's a Puppet on TV
What people forget is that pitbulls are not naturally aggressive creatures... they have to be taught that way.
A dog by any other name...
Oh the hypocrisy makes my head explode. "Who cares" if Palin speaks to and gets interviewed by the media? VOTERS. Can you imagine if Obama refused to get interviewed? I guess being a reformer means you don’t have to answer tough questions about anything. With the shit hole Bush has dug for us and for Palin to refuse to talk and tell us her world views, its very telling about the qualifications of this stunt casted VP pick. It’s outrageous
This McCain fan says she have never seen a family get treated so poorly by the media. She must have been in coma for the Bush era. First of all McCain broke the Bristol getting knocked up story and I guess they must think the media should ignore this story, yeah lets forget about the fact that Palin is running for VP and preached abstinence.
This McCain fan has never seen a family get attack like this before because her party was the one doing the attacking and destroying peoples lives. McCain picked Palin to get attention and now he’s got it, ha ha
She has to run back to Alaska to clear this mess up. I wonder how much money they are going to pay this guy to shut up?
Brad Hanson - Sarah Palin’s other lover and…a city council member?
September 5, 2008
Rumor has it that Mr. Brad Hanson, the man that has spilled the beans on his affair with Sarah Palin to The Enquirer is now a member of the Palmer City Council. He was married at the time when he was alleged to be with Palin.
Hey, it's distasteful and dubious, but The National Enquirer was partially right on John Edwards, so here it is:
ST. PAUL, Minn. | John McCain’s campaign is denying a tabloid report that vice president candidate Sarah Palin had an extramarital affair.
The National Enquirer wrote in its edition dated Sept. 15 that Palin had an affair with a business associate of her husband, Todd Palin. He discovered the infidelity and dissolved the business, the article said. It attributed the allegation only to “an enemy” of the Alaska governor.
SApeaking of choice, did you just about fall over with mirth when Sam Bee, on TDSWJS last night, captured the evasions of the GOPuke revellers as they tried to avoid saying "choice?"
Fuukin Comedy GOLD!
"According to Nicole Wallace of the McCain campaign, the American people don’t care whether Sarah Palin can answer specific questions about foreign and domestic policy."
Maybe there are some people in America that care little about Palin's lack of experience on foreign policy and national security issues. However, there are those foreign leaders who do care about such matters and they will be very interested in what she does or does not know. When she eventually opens her mouth it will become very apparent to them that she knows nothing. They will then see her as easy pickings when she eventually has to deal with them at some point.
Wow....totally shows the lack of faith they have in her to speak for herself.
So are the debates with Biden all cancelled now? I hope that Biden demands that they go on whether Secretive Sarah shows up or not. I think the point needs to be made that she’s refusing to participate in some of the most basic exercises in democratic elections.
The McCain people are going to do what they learned with Bush, put her in front of a hand selected "town hall metting" and claim that she is talking directly to the American people without the media filter. We will be subjected to questions about how hard is it to be such a beautiful woman with some many kids, can you give us a great moose stew recipie, and do you love Jesus or your husband more. Mrs Palin is not ready for prime time, hell she isn't ready for the test pattern at 3AM, so I am not stunned by this. Smoke and mirrors, that should be the repug slogan.
woody, tokin librul @ 36:
Dear GOD!
Why are Americans such fucking sheep?
Nicole Wallace has been a major irritant on "Morning Joe" and elsewhere, and yes her voice went up two octaves in faux outrage. I'm surprised she didn't spill her coffee.
But "the media did something to Sarah Palin's family" she hasn't seen before, in her lifetime? Sure we have. It's the celebrity angle, if we can push it that way. Think Britney Spears. Equate one celebrity with the nation's newest "celebrity". Make it tabloid.
But zooming out a bit, it's such a theater. Palin and McCain as victims. Yet somehow, braving the director's chair in the teeth of the TV set.
I think the R strategy is to limit access to Palin (like McCain's less frequent interviews on the Straight-to-Hell Bus) in order to 1) whet appetite and get better behavior from the press and 2) plow the field of "victim" at the same time.
It's up to the press to stick to their guns, attempt the interviews, and not give in to "better treatment" aka softball questions. We'll see.
Somebody opined a couple days ago that Palin is an orchestrated distraction to take the heat off of John McKeating. Uncle McFester chose Palin BECAUSE of her problems and those of her family.
I think that is probably correct, and it smacks of the kind of opportunism that is first nature to the amoral John McCain.
Sarah Palin and her unfortunate family will absorb the punishment while McSame is free from unwanted scrutiny about:
Being the go-to guy for Charles Keating in the Keating Five ripoff.
His sealed military records
His hotdog flashy flyboy ****-up that caused a disaster on the USS Forrestal
His skirt chasing infidelity
Questionable real estate-for-legislation deals
Being wrong about Iraq from before day one
Now everybody's attention is focused on Mrs Mooseburger.
Convenient, eh?
woody, tokin librul @ 42:
That was fuckin hilarious...that girl at the end of the segment was truly an idiot.
Why didn't McCain just appoint a sock puppet as his VP nominee?
Referring to Senator Barack Obama, the Democratic nominee, Mr. Trippi added, “All Obama has to do is say, ‘Bush-McCain, Bush-McCain.’ ”
BUSH MCCAIN BUSH MCCAIN BUSH MCCAIN BUSH MCCAIN BUSH MCCAIN
There has never been any substance to the GOP. Look at Dubya who was treated with kid gloves most of the time. Why would he be so out of pace with the American people 82% think we are on the wrong track.
I guess what good for the GOP is good for the nation, after all the GOP did not ask Palin any questions!
This whole Brittany Spears/Paris Hilton/Jerry Springer Show V.P. pick circus sickens me.
When they think she is ready she will answer questions but it will be questions posed to her by the hosts of shows only on FOX. I'll bet big bucks on that.
Palin parades her daughter before the cameras for the world to stare at but is afraid to present herself for review.
Ms Palin is suffering from mono and may not be available for interviews for the next several weeks.
are they going to let the pit bull off her leash for the debates or is she going stiff the citizenry on that too?
How are we suppose to know where she stand if she will not talk to the press. Are they afraid that she will say something that they do not approve of or will she let the truth slip how they really don't care about the american people and are really into this for the money. They can talk all they want about be for the people, but just look at their record. They cut everything that will help us and give money to the corps. Mccain was going on about how we should not get help if our house is in foreclosure because we can't make the payment. But what happens when the banks get in trouble because of their greed, the republicans are the first ones to hand them money. Talk about a double standard.
I want to hear what they are going to do for me, I don't hear one word on how they are going to fix the economy, what they are going to do for education, employment. All they do is talk about how bad or good things are depending on who they are talking to. One speech we are not doing good, the next speech we are doing good. They need to make up their mind either we are or we aren't. Talk about flip flopping. They have mastered it. And of course they are always taken out of context, even when you are playing the whole speech. And catch them. The American people need to wake up and smell the roses. Again the republican party does not care about you or me, all that matters to them is how much money they can make for the corporations and lobbiest.
Vice Presidential debate, Oct. 2.
Even considering how little these heavily scripted events resemble a true debate, it should be more than entertaining.
Sarah Barrack-Uda? What kind of terrorist name is that, anyway?
Maybe for some unknown reason she will have to withdraw from the veep debate. Something like one of her children is "ill".
Cheney has her at his undisclosed secure location.
If they keep Palin from the media the media will search just that much harder into her background.
surfjac @ 13:

They ought to keep Tom Ridge away from the press. Last night after the speech he called John McCann, John Bush. I swear I hope someone post the video on the internet.
Nona Yabiz @ 61:
Yikes, she's a Muslim and a terrorist, no wonder she's in hiding. Are they hiding her in her sleeper cell. Hope she has a cot and stuff in the cell.
Oh I forgot to point out that McBain was NOT wearing his Flag lapel pin last night...
Why does he hate America?
They've probably got lawyers with cash paying off all possible sources of scandal in Alaska right about now.
She actually IS from a Moose-slum country.
NorwoodWoman@26: Yep, you are correct. And be reminded, McLamebrain said
during his 911/POW "talk" last night that his administration would have total and
complete transprancy. What a bunch of BS..."Hiding" Palin is not in keeping with
his LIE.
By the way, somehow I managed to watch McLamebrain's entire "talk"..and in my
humble opinion, it was the most ridiculous, mundane, uninteresting talk I have ever
witness from a Presidential candidate. He is, or should be, a complete embarrasement to the Repug Party. Anyone, with any sense or an IQ above 100,
will totally discount him as a serious candidate.
Kind of OT but Krugman has an excellent column up on NYTimes on the politics of resentment.
A good read indeed!
1e47Kansaskowboy @ 65:
LOL it was up on youtube last night.
Thank Dog for the internet.
Pretty obvious after McSame went down in flames last night that they have to get Palin out there carrying McCain on her back.
liberalNmoderation @ 67:
Consider his voting record on Veterans' Affairs and ask "why does he hate the troops?"
If you have an opportunity to read the editorial in The Nation, you will understand the GOP convention in a nutshell, from the scramble away from the word republican itself (just can't seem to capitalize it, just don't believe its a proper noun) to the bullshit that McCain is now trying to pitch. It comes down to the old fart being nothing more of the same. Look at his actions not his words. He has willingly been part of the problem he now tries to distance himself from for the last 30 years. We know how to destroy the mantra they are trying desparately to fit within. Unfortunately, with a willing "liberal media" its going to take much more effort than it rightfully (no pun intended) should.
if mccain actually wins this election, i am boycotting republicans in every aspect of my personal and professional life....friends, family, clients....i don't care....no more phone calls, no more holidays, that's it...
this is bizarre...they are in some other, irrational, fact deprived world.....if they pull this off somehow, they deserve scorn and alienation.....
to willfully hand this country back to republicans, after these last 8 years, is simply unforgivable, considering the stakes, considering the record and the consequences...
The democrats need to label Palin as a liar.
The convention speech was full of whoppers. She was a commercial fisherman, so I guess she knows a good fish story.
"Sarah Palin tells whoppers." That needs to be the theme.
The fact that John McSame doesn't think that the american people need to discover how the individual "a heartbeat (or a chemotherapy session, as the case may be) from the Presidency" thinks is absolutely "unconscionable" and the american people need to rise up against this form of tyranny. How dare McCain underestimate the intelligence of the populace in this way? How dare Mr. McCain in his attempt to "stop the Sarahcoulda bleeding" decide that the american people who are actualling "hiring these candidates to do a job" would be so easily fooled?
After all, we are the "employers" and we have every right to conduct an "employment interview" which often includes having the applicant discuss his background. Are you kidding me here? We're paying the salary and we get no time for questions? We're paying the salary and she goes and hides from us? We all know well what happens when we intentionally fail to disclose material facts in our resume to our future employer, don't we? We definitely DON'T GET THE JOB. This is an experience every working american has had in his/her lifetime. If you don't deliver the goods to the employer, you're SOL. McCain is making damn sure that Palin recedes into the woodwork so he's, quite overtly, sabotaging not only her Veep candidacy but his own in one fell swoop.
The pundits are weighing in about his boring speech last night which had no tangible plans for our future and now he's not permitting the american public from conducting it's own "employment interview" with Palin. I'd say he's, as predictable, dabbling in self-destructive behavior right now. I'd say he's showing more about what he really thinks about Middle Class america by this totally "elitist move". I'd say that he, himself, doesn't believe that Sarah Coulda is right for the job.
If you fail to show for the interview, you're chances of being hired are slim to none.

Palin * McCain - The People's EMPLOYMENT INTERVIEW That Wasn't!
It's time for the Dems to bring back the guy in a chicken suit, used during Clinton/Gore's first campaign. Have the "chicken" follow McCain around to every one of his appearances, holding up a sign that says, "WHERE'S SARAH?" This is a legitimate issue for the Dems -- if Palin is such hot stuff, how come they won't let her talk to the press without handlers? Hammer on it from now until November, if that's what it takes.
#49 EXACTLY!!! It's like McCain if trying to put a CONE OF SILENCE around his messes, dontcha think?
It's beyond offensive that he can lie and cheat at the simplest of rules...e.g. the ego-driven Rick Warren fiasco, and it just evaporates into thin air.
COUNTRY FIRST MY HANGING CHAD!!
Palin is now a known "liar" and McSame "hates the troops" - wow! What a campaign platform. Add to that the underestimation of the american public to conduct an employment interview on Palin via the press (a scrutiny we extend to male and female alike in our political process) and his obvious belief that they are definitely not "public servants" who are hired by the american people. How elitist and ignorant can one get? But in typical McSabateur style, McCain blows it again and shoots himself in the foot.
As I've repeated all week long, Obama and Biden need do nothing whatsoever. Their coffers will fill by the mere stupdity of John McCain; they will overflow due to the obvious reckless of John McSame. They can and have taken the high road. Now send out Hillary to complete the job! She's due in Florida next week and she will show little Sarah how women in politics do the job. No damn wonder McCain's quaking about putting Palin out in public.
As far as "hiding Palin from the press", just ask yourself honestly: WWYD? No doubt about it - with no real resume to go on, this woman is a sitting duck. She's the egomaniac sitting in the employment agency who believes that a bouffant hairdo and some heavy eyeliner and a wink and a nod will get her the job. How totally she has underestimated her future employer - The american people. How totally!
You've got to be sh!tting me! WTF is wrong with these people on the Right.
Ncole Wallace sounds like she is answering to a bunch of 12 year old listeners. It boggles my mind to think that this women is a paid McCain aide and really tells you all you need to know about the Republican candidate.
This morning I tried to listen to McCain's speech but I couldn't do it. That cadence he speaks in just lulls my mind and the first thing I feel is sleepy.
He reads his speeches like a grandfather reading to a little kid. It's unbearable. Plus that strange grin that creeps up on his face each time he believes he has delivered an applause line, is just strange.
This is crazy! Now we are expected not to question Palin? Do they honestly think Americans are going to fall for that? You know what. Go ahead, hide her. That will go over REAL well.
woody, tokin librul @ 42:
That was sweet, kind of like Fonzarelli trying to say "I was wrong."
That's so right wing. Pout about the liberal media and take their toys and go home. Who's to blame for the media frenzy over Palin? McCain is. You pick a total unknown and that's what happens. Of course the media is going to go out looking for anything they can find. More power to them.
19 months of going through Obama's qualifications is not enough but 0 days of going through Palin's is? Is that the message here?
This plays to the narrow view the McCain camp wants before the election and in a way boxes the "enemy press" and Dems in a corner. By not mentioning Palin, McCains adviors are hoping (and it will probably come to pass) that with more voters asking the question "why have you not questioned Palin", it paints Dems and the press as the enemy that will not leave Palin alone. In essence they will argue that the election is about McCain and Obama while playing her up before the debate with Biden and right before the election.
This is a common tatic and again, it will be met with limited success in the form of voters that believe she is being unfairly targeted. My suggestion is for a Obama supporter to put to together a video package for the press to utilize that paints the Republicans as beating the press over the head to get information on Obama. This would essentially quell the talk on the right and steal the thunder...it puts them in a corner, either admit you unfairly attacked Obama in the press or Palin has something to hide. It may sound like that would not work, but the probability of the McCain responding by putting Palin out before the debate would be higher.
There is more out there to find, reporters must dig deeper...I believe there is supportable material that the backstory is much worse than what has been told. If the press relents and backs off, McCain has won and no message from Obama will resonate with some voters.
I can't believe McCain was in front of a green screen! Is he so out of touch that he does't know Colbert will probably skewer him?
Well, if she won't sit down with the media, then I guess we should have someone that looks alot like her (like Tina Fey?) pretend to be her and do a mock interview. Maybe that would bring her out of the woodwork.
They must be spending 15 hours a day water boarding coached canned responses into her head when they do grace the reporters to allow the "choosen one" to speak to them.
wxgeek @ 86:
The people on the right have always BEEN wrong.
When I am talking to potential voters on the street and show them the documents from the PDF files in Alaska where on September 2 Sarah Palin actually had the audacity to "file ethics charges against herself", they look at me as if I'm an alien. This is true. They are in such shock and disbelief because of the illogical nature of such a fact. Even when they view the legal document involved, their typical reaction is "come on now - you must be joshing me". Then when the rationale behind such a devious move (obstruction of justice) is made known, they shake their heads and say "so what else is new?". They leave in disbelief but with a copy of this document in their hands to show to everyone they know.
This is the height of amateurish chicanery that it's downright ludicrous. Sarah Palin filing ethics charges against herself. Wow! She's not even in office and she's abusing power now - what can we expect from her in the future? I shudder to imagine.
If anyone wants the PDF versions of ALL the documents filed in this deceptive move, I will post the link in my next comment. It's an amazing tool to inform people about her character and the lengths Camp McCain will go to attempt to obstruct justice.

If she runs for president in 2012 she can run on the slogan, "No one's paler than palin."
Here's the link to all of the Palin documents so copy and distribute to help others get to know her. And since she refuses to come out of hiding now, these are the kinds of things we have to use to formulate our impression of Palin.
Here 'tis! Enjoy and circulate!

Even Conservatives were not so inspired by McCain. Altough they will still support him. Palin though, she is their Messiah.
first she has to take a week off for training by bush administration officials. then she will know what she thinks.
the only people focusing on her family is the repubes, as clssic smoke screen tactic to keep the conversation on how unfairly poor palin and her family has been treated. i have no heard the press talk about it unless they are repeating repube talking points. if these trick and gimicks work this time around, our country is truely broken.

“Buck Funnies For Jeesus!”
Sarah Palin isn't feeling very secure, smug, sarcastic or popular right now as well she shouldn't be. She's hiding from the public and we can all understand why.
Go to the Anchorage Daily News page for the pdf's on her latest shenanigan. This woman appears to be one huge female shenanigan and I fear that she's taken the women's rights movement back a century. I cannot believe this is happening.
Copy the pdf files and have fun with the people on the street. After all, if she's too scared to talk to the people who will employ her, she doesn't deserve to get the job. Now we have to do the job for McCain.....a job which he didn't feel worthy of the time to do for us.
@ 47, lNm asks: Dear GOD!
Why are Americans such fucking sheep?
Because that is how the school system is designed. The vast majority of USers have been carefully 'trained' by their school experiences to avoid critical thought at all costs. This has been official US Education policy since Nixon and the boys looked down on the US furor on campuses in the period '68-72 and saw the students protesting there had been schooled in traditional rhetorical arts and logic. That all changed, forthwith, and the emphasis shifted.
Primarily, today, the vast bulk of the USer schools--exceptiing those catering to the leites and the wealthy--train students to be nothing but compliant consumers of corporate propaganda, silent dupes of consumerism, trapped in empty desires, conditioned by marketing strategies to ignore--if ever they stop to discover--their best interests...

One of the many questions I want answered - What books did you want banned from Wasilla’s library, and why?
Biology, physiscs. chemistry. You know, the works of the devil and the evil libruls.
I think there is a two pronged approach by using this tactic. The first and most obvious is to shield Palin form difficult questions on foreign policy and national security which are two issues that she knows nothing about. The second is to reign in Palin so that McCain can resume his space in the spotlight. For weeks now, Palin has overshadowed McCain and he has to reverse that trend.

Don't forget, she's white, too. Makes a BEEEEG difference. You can trust white people. But those kneegrows are SCARY!
These people are so unintelligent. I honestly think they really can't process the truth. Is it environmental, the media. My father said intellegence was a gift. I guess he is right.
I was just musing....can you imagine being trapped as a delegate at the RNC with more damning evidence of the lunacy of these two individuals springing up with each news cycle? I'm sure they were more than ready to leave last night. It has to be like wearing a "team tee" to a collegiate football game with the score set at 56-10 and having to walk past the opponent's cheering section and trying to dive out of the stadium unscathed. I've been in that position and it feels pretty horrible. Here they are in their full GOP garb being laughed out of town. It can't feel good at all.
Add to that the fact that their temperamental, loose canon candidate has just gotten himself into yet another pissing contest with the american media. Wow. The gifts which keep on giving, eh? Short fuses can be so easily manipulated into exposure and "Pale resumes" crumble under the scutiny of the political microscope...that will be the synopsis of this RNC convention.

'The Grin' was a cue to the audience to applause ... there was an uncomfortable 3 to 4 second delay between 'The Grin' and the audience's response.
The amazing thing for all of the obvious pandering to the american female we can now conclude that having a vagina may be, in fact, THE only thing we have in common with Sarah Palin. Goes to show that political stunts eventually blow up in your face and putting lipstick on a pig doesn't work. Never did/never will.
"Hide in Palin Sight" ...?
Listen to me sheeple:
IF McCain wins in November, I predict he will serve only a short time and then resign for reasons of health. Sarah Palin
will then step into the job she was picked for from the very beginning. I am convinced it is NOT McCain who is running for president, it is Sarah Palin who is running for president with McCain as her front.
Hiding Palin from the media's questions is like a heavyweight boxing champion dodging an up and coming challenger. However, at some point the heavyweight boxer has to enter the ring and defend his title against the challenger who the champ knows is vastly superior. Palin is a paper champion VP pick. Its only a matter of time before she has to climb in the ring to defend it.
sophya@119, I, like many women, was offended. After learning about her record. I was pissed! The audacity that McCin showed is very telling. He honestly thinks women are that stupid. Unreal.
Clock is Ticking as McCain Campaign Hides Palin from the Press
I'm sure mcgramps is full of nervous tics right now.
PD@105: What I really am having a difficult time comprehending is that we, the
voters, will be casting a vote for the President(Obama or McCain), and yet it
sure appears to me that the neocons/religious zealots/conservative right wing
group think that their vote is for Palin... Just does not add up people. WHO do
you think will best serve YOUR interests...Obama or McCain? That is sooooooo
easy to answer (OBAMA)

Sarah 'Stalin' Palin.
Read that elsewhere, but it's a good.
this isn't going to sit well with Independents.

Shouldn't sit well with anyone who possesses a brain.
"The basis of our governments being the opinion of the people, the very first object should be to keep that right; and were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter. But I should mean that every man should receive those papers and be capable of reading them." --Thomas Jefferson to Edward Carrington, 1787. ME 6:57

"Who cares"? We the American people care you ignorant, decietful, fascist bitch.
What I really loved was Wallace throwing in an off-handed, "who cares? I'm going back to sleep".....
That's right sheep, Nicole says just go back to sleep....they don't even hide it anymore....
You know I just want to know what kind of lipstick does a pig wear? Er, I meant pitbull.
They are putting the friggin chip into her brain right now, wiring up the misfiring circuits and she will be good to go for Fox News. Do you think O'Reilly will be as rude to her as he was to Obama? I am really so enraged that I have been a bear, albeit live one, to be around.
What we really need is a really good graphic artist to do a Where's Palin poster (a la Where's Waldo) featuring all those republican scandals. Well this year's scandals anyway. Don't want to make the challenge impossible.
these are times I wish Tim Russert was still around, bring on Palin on MEET THE PRESS.
R.I.P. Tim Russert
looks like they are going to set her up as another Cheney (without the power). The vice president appears to now be exempt from any kind of public scrutiny. Palin is just following in his footsteps. I'm sure if the government had its way, all public servants, by law, would be immune from any media interaction. Then the ruling class can finish up its agenda of removing the last crumbs of public interface with them and their lackeys.
It may take a few more cycles of Republican dismantlement, but I'm sure a few reporters will be happy when all their job consists of is cutting and pasting whatever sugar coated lies the government sends them. Oh, wait, that's already happening.
remember the final scene of 'The Warriors' when the bad guy bumped two coke bottles together as they drove through Coney Island.
"Sarah Paliiiiin, come out to playyyyyyyyeeeeee!"
It was cynical when Rove took a alcoholic failure with a good last name and drug him to the top. But this ambitious harpy being propped up by the Orwellian messengers treason. Why not an animated figure? Mr Clean? Theres a powerful image to counterweigh the party of corruption and amorality.
More on Sarah Polin
Many Republicans, and others, have praised the decision by Governor Palin to carry her baby to term despite knowledge of its Down's Syndrome. And they have praised her pregnant unmarried 17 year-old daughter on her decision to have her baby.
Should not they also realize that, if Sarah Palin has her way, such decisions could not be made? The government will have already decided for the woman.
No wonder that one of my daughters has referred to Ms Palin as a "folksy feminine fascist".
Sarah Palin for VP
I wish that she were a liberal Democrat, so that I could root for her and vote for her. She is likeable. charming, and attractive enough to be referred to by some as McCain's "trophy vice".
But her political and social views are intolerable. In addition to her opposition to a woman's right to choose, she denies that humans cause the global warming that threatens Alaska's polar bears, supports the teaching in schools of creationism and abstinence-only sex education. And she wants oil drilling in the Anwr National Wildlife Refuge.
Early in Palin's mayoralty, she wanted to impose book banning on the town library and tried to fire the librarian who resisted. Now, that's scary.
McCain Picks Palin as VP Nominee
McCain did manage to step on the buzz from Obama's stirring closing ceremony speech. Palin-Biden seems a clear mismatch but perhaps not since she is such a charmer
Since Palin was a feisty and successful point guard, maybe she and Obama should go one-on-one.

Figaro @ 121:
That might be a bit of a stretch, but what makes me nervous is that if they're elected then she will be running as top bill on 2012, by then she'll be a rottweiler in lipstick.
my apologies to all rottweilers.
Figaro @ 121:
I am not into conspiracy theories but if they wanted to bring out Obama as the Manchurian candidate they certainly set it up here. I mean they admitted they wrote the speech for her I heard it live w. my own ears. Really we need to stop comparing Obama to Palin and start comparing Palin to Biden- Those combinations bring out the striking differences. And what Cindy's 300,000 anti-elitist outfit. ohhh are all the poor women gonna run out and get that and wear it w. their Palin glassess?
Even if Palin surfaces a week from now with a sudden, unaccountable expertise in various subjects, wouldn't that smell fishy? Wouldn't the media wonder aloud where her knowledge came from?
Fact is, Sarah Palin has no record of knowing the names of foreign leaders, the locations of their countries, and so on ad infinitum. Sarah Palin's knowledge of the world consists mainly of what she learned in school, in church and in Alaskan politics. That's a pretty shallow pool of knowledge, and it will become quite obvious before November.
Palin wondered publicly what a vice president is supposed to do. Not much, historically. But the vice president of the United States of America has to demonstrate sufficient knowledge of the world, political expertise, personal connections and worldly wisdom to become an effective president.
Tragically should she become vice president, Palin's career so far reveals that she has ruthless ambition, an eagerness to run things to her liking and a narrow, religiously bigoted moral perspective. Aside from that, what I have seen of her indicates a catastrophic lack of the knowledge and wisdom needed to be a president of this nation.
"Country First?" How incredibly, tragically untrue! McCain's VP decision is clearly a pander to the religious right, and allowing them to choose his VP without any careful vetting indicates an attitude by McCain that puts ambition before all other considerations, including his country. Whatever dubious claims to integrity John McCain might have had, he has now dumped them as thoroughly as he did his first wife. John McCain's character is as empty as his smile.
.
But Palin is studying on the plane right now!! She'll be studying and going over McCain's policies (after the RNC, we're still have no fucking clue what they are). It's another republican with training wheels.
Look at Obama, he's walking back into the lions den going face to face with "journalist" (hahahah, right) Orally. He's got other gigs next week as well.

I agree with you. If America is this stupid (strike three, yer outta here!), then I want a divorce from my countrymen. I will not speak to them, acknowledge them, say hello to their children, etc. That includes family, even my father. If they choose a corrupt, inept, greedy, warmongering criminal party that wants to keep me as a second class citizen, then I hope they die very slowly and burn in hell forever.
The idea that she "spoke to the American people" by reading a speech written for her by a team of speechwriters, read from a teleprompter is ridiculous. Sure, she delivered it with passion, but that's not equivalent to answering questions or having a conversation with anyone, much less the American People.
Mongo Like Candy @ 128:
I hope you are both right.

Here's a thought. Is it possible that the Republicans are actually trying to lose? When George Bush took office, the American economy was on the upswing and the Federal government boasted a budget surplus. Now, our economy is circling the rim and the deficit is bigger than it's ever been. Our standing in the world is diminished to the point where foreigners are more interested in the outcome of this election than many Americans are.
Is it not possible that the Republicans want to lose and let the Democrats clean up their mess and refill the coffers so they can plunder a recovered country again in 8 to 12 years when no one remembers the Bush years anymore?
Not qualified as a VP or a candidate.....
Already, even before possibly being elected to the highest offices in the land, McCain and Palin are saying "We are not accountable." Just imagine what would happen if the were to get elected.
http://www.boston.com/ae/music/blog/2008/09/heart_to_mccain.html
Turns out Baracuda might not be such a good thing. According to the group that wrote the song that the RNC played last night in support of Sarah Palin:
"Sarah Palin's views and values in NO WAY represent us as American women. We ask that our song 'Barracuda' no longer be used to promote her image. The song 'Barracuda' was written in the late 70s as a scathing rant against the soulless, corporate nature of the music business, particularly for women. (The 'barracuda' represented the business.) While Heart did not and would not authorize the use of their song at the RNC, there's irony in Republican strategists' choice to make use of it there."
SteamRanger @ 146:
I've thought of that...but if they are trying to lose...
and they win...then America will prove to the entire world how stupid we truly are.
