The GOP sure knows its base, you gotta hand it to them. A little digging by Govgap.com reveals that www.votefortheMILF.com links directly back to JohnMcCain.com, then on to Sarah Palin's page and a video message.

I think this is like prostitution. They are prostituting Sarah Palin for votes. And that fits right into the condescending behavior of the McCain campaign of putting this woman out there to get women voters. Only now, they're trying to use her sexuality as a selling point.

That's not what you get if you do a tracert johnmccain.com, you get 64.203.107.149 as the ip being traced to. I know there are lots of snarky things that can be done by hotshots on the internet but until somebody does a better job of explaining why the two domains both point at the same IP address I'm going to assume they're both controlled by the same entity.

Yes but I think Crooks and Liars needs to be fair and not throw up guess work here. The domain registration is secured by GoDaddy, anyone could own this domain. It wouldn't take much work to look up McCain's website IP and point a DNS host record you owned to point to their site. If McCain isn't using host headers in his site then his home page would respond to any domain that pointed at it. No doubt they added a redirecting page to their web server. This could easily be a prank aimed at McCain.

Not really GoDaddy is in Phoenix. Look I'm no McCain fan but this is likely a prank, that is a secured registration. I should know I own a dozen secured GoDaddy sites that are masked by Domains By Proxy. I think McCain's webmaster doesn't know or didn't think about using host headers to limit which domains their web server will respond to. The redirector to google is just a few lines of code in a web page on McCain's web server. They'll be fighting alosing battle with that approach unless they employ host headers.

If it didn't all match then it would be redirecting to the same website. That's why every time you load "crooksandliars.com" you always end up at the same web server IP address. If you didn't that's called "being on a different website".

As has been pointed out numerous times, Domains By Proxy is a service used by lots and lots of people. As for registering "within 36 hours" -- well, duh; whenever some new meme appears in the news, people rush to register related domain names. For example, do a whois on client9.com and you'll see it was registered on March 10, when the Spitzer scandal came out.
