Meryl Davis and Charlie White dazzled the judges at the Sochi Olympics to win America's first ever ice dance title -- but the personal chemistry was not immediately evident when they met as shy youngsters.

A spellbinding four minutes on the ice from the pair from Bloomfield, Michigan, was the culmination of 17 years of hard work as they broke their own world record score to seal gold with 195.52 points.
