December 28, 2014

So I couldn't find a "best of" list that included each of my top five for 2014. In no order:

Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) on the stand on Game of Thrones.

Alan Alda explodes (literally, best SFX use of cherry Jell-O this decade!) in front of James Spader in The Blacklist.

Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot (The Penguin) on Gotham. (above)

Bert Cooper (Robert Morse) dances off this mortal coil on Mad Men.

Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson find the killer and the meaning of life in True Detective.

Yes, I left out Boardwalk Empire, Hannibal, House of Cards, Scandal, Alpha House, The Walking Dead, Orange is the New Black, Girls, Veep, The Americans, Masters of Sex, The Roosevelts, Justified, Louie, Key and Peele, etc. etc. It's been a very good year for television and TV on demand.

What are your favorites of the past year? Open thread below...
