Zach Carter is doing a bang up job covering the TPP donnybrook for Huffington Post. But he has a life outside of Fast Track, Brunei and the destruction the American middle class: a smoking' trio. Carter has a band, Brutalism, which is either named for the architectural movement of the same name or for the literary movement named for the architectural movement. Carter is based in DC and the band plays there and in NY and Boston from time to time. I hate DC and avoid it like the plague but now I want to book a flight there the next time Brutalism plays. Yes, they're my favorite new band, kind of reminds me of one of the first bands I ever signed, The Units. Both bands inhabit the space where a punk rock ethic meets smart lyrics and a good dance beat. If you like "Friday Night" (above), check out their YouTube video, New Empire.

If I was still the president of a record company I could tell you when their album was coming out. But I'm just a punter now, with a penchant for... brutal lyrics and melodic music.
