Walker Pulls An Early April Fools Prank

Wisconsin has been overcome with the stench of the GOP's flopsweat. Wisconsin's presidential primary is coming up in just over a week, on April 5th, and already the candidates from both parties have been flocking to our once great state.

The GOTea Party has decided to make Wisconsin a battle line to stop Trump. Most of the state leaders have come out to endorse Ted "Casanova" Cruz despite his Cuban Mistress Crisis. Radio squawkers have been beating the drum for Cruz, giving him lots of free air time. Dark money front groups have been sending out anti-Trump mailers. Right wing propagandists and bloggers have been working overtime to promote Cruz, even to the point of telling people not to vote for Ohio Governor John Kasich for fear that will take votes away from Cruz and allow Trump to win the state.

But leave it to Scott Walker to make the battle for the party go from the hilarious to the utterly absurd.

On Friday, Walker, when asked about the presidential race that he had to drop out of after only ten weeks, had this to say:

If the Republican Party finds itself with an open convention in July, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker believes the nominee may not be Donald Trump, Ted Cruz or John Kasich.

"I think if it’s an open convention, it’s very likely it would be someone who’s not currently running," Walker told reporters Thursday. "I mean, who knows. The one thing I qualify — it’s like the qualifications you see on those ads you see for car dealerships. I think any of us who comment on this election have to qualify that almost every prediction’s been off, so it’s hard to predict anything."

Forbes took it as to mean that Walker was alluding to him becoming the GOP nominee if Trump is unable to lock up the nomination.

While the idea that such a flop as Walker could become the nominee is laughable to many, there should be a level of concern about this happening.

The GOP convention will be run jointly by the head of the GOP, Reince Priebus, and Lyin' Paul Ryan. We already know that Priebus is not above breaking the rules to help out his old chum Walker. And Ryan and Walker have been long time friends.

In other words, the thought that Priebus and Ryan would follow their dark money overlords wishes to manipulate the convention and eventual nominee is entirely plausible. Whether that nominee would be Walker is a bit more far fetched but still possible.

The other thing to consider, however, is that Ryan himself appears to be jockeying himself into a new position. He has been making himself much more visible and has made a number of statements that are clearly aimed at Trump's foolishness. Oh sure, Ryan has been denying any interest in being the presidential candidate for his party, but he said the same thing about being Speaker of the House.

Regardless of whether Walker's April Fools prank has any merit to it, this whole three ring circus makes it worthwhile to stock up on popcorn.
