Jennifer Granholm was quite a successful governor, one of the finest in Michigan's history. She had to bring the state through the most horrific recession in a few generations. She unfortunately, termed out as Governor just before the abysmal and disastrous Tea Party wave from Hell inundated this nation. That was the same wave which brought Michigan unimaginable suffering in the form of Rick Snyder, in late 2010.

It would be unfair to call it self-imposed, as Snyder's victory four years later was the work of massive cheating and dishonest election practices like severe voter suppression. Michigan, like Brownback's Kansas, is exactly what happens when government-hating, incompetent, corporatist egomaniacs serve their plutocratic donors at the expense of society's most vulnerable, poor and marginalized.

Disgraceful and disgusting, yet this is the result of Republicans conning this nation into voting for them. The incompetent malevolence of Snyder is even more pronounced when you compare him to the capable administration that preceded him.

Unsurprisingly, Michigan’s median household income was on the rise during the Granholm administration (2007 – 2011) and only began its downward trend during the Snyder administration.

But I digress. Jennifer Granholm is a terrific fighter and advocate for democracy and is one of the possible contenders for DNC Chair. And her attack dog persona was one of the highlights of the fourth, historic night of the 2016 Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.

Here's a few highlights from Governor Granholm's speech, especially the attack dog part that was carefully crafted to get under the thin-skinned Apricot Hellbeast that the GOP has nominated for U.S. President.

But we were also determined to build industries of the future. We said we wanted advanced manufacturing. We wanted new jobs. We started the hard process of moving in that direction. And then, in 2008, we elected a Democratic President for us to work with. And you know what he did?

He saved the American auto industry. And then that renewed auto industry paid America back in full.

Then, she went off on the Drümpenführer and laid into him pretty good.

One candidate for President gets that. And one candidate, as Joe Biden said last night, doesn't have a clue.

Now, last week, we heard Trump's hopeless vision of our country. Then he said: "I alone can fix it."

Imagine Donald Trump's version of the Constitution: "I, the person, in order to form a more perfect union…"

Or, centuries later, "I, shall overcome."

Or, "Ask not what I can do for my country, ask what my country can do for me!"

Donald: You're so vain, you probably think this speech is about you.

Here's what I know: WE have to stop Donald Trump!

You're damned right we do.

Granholm can't run for POTUS as she was born in Canada, and since she's a Democrat, our rules actually apply to her; unlike Ted Cruz, whose citizenship is apparently not a concern for Republicans. Yes, the same ones who still question President Obama's birth certificate, don't seem to worry about trivial Constitutional issues like that.

But that's a matter for a later date when, once again, we will have to contend with the likes of Tailgunner Ted Cruz, whose political ambitions are far from over. For now, let's enjoy the fact that within 100 years of granting women suffrage, we have a woman running for U.S. President.
