In the simplest of pigeonholes, one could call Calgary Alberta's Chad VanGaalen a singer-songwriter and then call it a day.
His songs can be introspective. He often wears his heart on his sleeve and other times he spills his guts so, yeah, the title fits. Unlike many who have had the title bestowed on him before, there is not the completely pleasant and clap politely vibe that he gives off. It's a bit wobbly, a bit quirky and can be a bit messy at times. He's probably not going to be confused with the next James Taylor wanna be playing at the local coffee house.
