The video above is just a tiny snippet of Rios's ranting and raving about being arrested for drunk driving. The full-length video of his arrest and subsequent booking is nearly 75 minutes long, and can be viewed here. Rios did not seem to grasp the concept of "Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law" as he kept on digging a bigger hole for himself. And since he's a Republican of course he also serves on a panel that handles law enforcement legislation on the House Judiciary Committee.

When asked for his license and registration, Rios tried to give the officers his business card. At one point he told officers, “You guys are going to regret picking on me because you don't know who (profanity) I am."

He also was cited for having an open container of alcohol in his vehicle.

Rios worked for Ted Cruz for a couple of years in Washington before moving to North Dakota. He's a first-term state rep, and assumed office in Dec. 2022.

A North Dakota politician told police they’d “regret picking on him” and threatened to call the state’s attorney general during his racist and homophobic rant as he was arrested for drunk driving after a Christmas party last Friday.

Rep. Nico Rios, a Williston Republican lawmaker, was arrested and charged with DUI and refusing to provide a chemical test, according to the Bismarck Tribune.

He was pulled over when officers noticed the pol failing to stay in his lane which prompted Rios to become “verbally abusive, homophobic, racially abusive and discriminatory,” according to an arrest record obtained by the outlet.

Rios was captured on bodycam footage trying to pass off his business card when asked by the officers for his license and registration during the stop.

The lawmaker was put through a field sobriety test and refused to take a breathalyzer test, telling officers he only lived two blocks away from where he was pulled over.

“You guys are going to regret picking on me because you don’t know who f–k I am,” Rios told the officers.

And what else did this stalwart, upstanding citizen and public servant have to say for himself? Well, the obligatory racist and homophobic rants that his kind seem to specialize in. From the Bismark Tribune:

Rios at one point unsuccessfully asked Welch to turn off his body camera. While Rios was being driven to jail, he repeatedly used profanities, and made comments about the officer being born in England and about people born outside America becoming law enforcement officers.

"You're arresting me for driving home, and people are coming to your country and raping your women, as you know," he said at one point after stating that refugees are taking over England. “And I’m the (profanity) bad guy?”

Rios told Welch “You're ruining my life so you can (profanity) make a paycheck," and directed homophobic slurs at him.

Rios let it be known that he's disappointed in himself and swears it won't happen again.
