Registration is required to comment on open threads?
Good. I like to know (vicariously) who I'm blogging with.

Me

Me Me Me Me me :D

Hi

I'm watching that viedo you linked to over at the zoo. Back in a minute.

Because you're not just blogging with them. You're blogging with everyone they ever blogged with too.

4 all of you I have registered.
that's what for.

But I registered 30 minutes ago, and still couldn't comment -- or even see the form. Maybe there's a delay for cron schedule or something?

[Um -- You're logged in now. It must have been successful-Sitemonitor]

obviously, but when I first logged in I could not, or, as I said, even see the form. Thought you and other registrants might want to know there might be some slight delay.

perp claims to be racist against blacks, but won't be interviewed.

disgusting how bigoted and effed up people can be... WTF and when the hell are people gonna grow up?

When does the pork come in?

;)

The trolls are going to be in full attack mode in the days ahead.

after the SCOTUS absolved ACORN of wrong doing, and the arrest of that Republican electoral registration criminal Jacoby and his YFM scam.

Gives me a little hope.

What??? I didn't hear about this yet. What's up with this?

Are you sure about that? Are you referring to the SC decision regarding the voter registrations in Ohio?

If you are referring to the Ohio case, you have totally confused the issues. In that case, Ohio GOP was trying to force SoState Brunner to review all new registrations filed after 1/1/2008 by comparing to SS and BMV records. Not all registrations...only new ones. She did not want to do that and challenged their case in court.

Supreme Court didn't decide on merits, just said that GOP does not have standing to challenge rules.

Am I missing something, here? It seems that I can post, even though I don't think I am registered. Earlier, the comment form was simply missing altogether. Moreover, I don't see any area wherein I can register an account and/or log in!

But by the end of this week, you will be required to register in order to comment.

You should see at the very top right part of the page a link to "Login/Register"

everyone should have to register to be snarky.

McCain giving the Keynote speech at ACORN

That everything they say anymore is verified and recorded on the Internet. Maybe it ain't a big truck and is just a set of tubes, but it has all the stuff out there to prove your lying when you are.

Every Lie will be counted and then used to humiliate the fools that lie.

they don't care. Does GWB ever appear to care that he is constantly being "humiliated" by the truth???? NO, he just keeps on doing what he wants - a sociopath has no conscience.

And, they also know that the majority of Americans don't spend a lot of their time sorting through political blogs and alternative news sources to ensure they're getting the all of the facts about important issues. So, they just LIE with impunity.

That was before he was for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and finally Friday. He can't make his mind up between Saturday or Sunday !

My friends, it is a difficult intellectual decision.

After all, there is only ONE day from Saturday to Sunday, but, there are SIX days from Sunday to Saturday.

Please send this video to as many people as possible.

That you've instituted registration -- it will motivate me to comment here (where I read every day), since I won't have to wade through the spam and trollz.

Thanks, John, etal!

Trying some new things on the site, check it out:

Although, I'm very sad that I had to get rid of the "Very Bitter Hussein" part of my monniker. :(

I liked the "Very Bitter Ceci Hussein".

Ignore my above post(s). Delete them if you wish!

It turns out that I'm a hapless-yet-lovable luddite. I've figured out how to register now, all by myself. Like a big boy!

And yet your handle remains stubbornly black. You maverick you.

For those of you with comcast out there, it's an option OnDemand under free movies. At least as of yesterday, when I was watching it. Great film.

Interesting, I didnt think anything was free with Comcast. Thanks for the tip.

Ha, yes, well "Free" as in part of the overcharging for their services anyways. :-)

Oregon targets the homeless...

Heartbreak...this is about the Muslim soldier (that Powell referenced) who died.

http://tpzoo.wordpress.com/2008/10/19/heartbr...

on MTP this morning gave me new respect for the man.

Finally, a high-ranking repub who has the courage to step forward and call out the racism and hatred his party espouses.

What he said about the Muslim soldier was especially moving.

and the man knelt with head hung low next to his finacee grave, heartbreaking.

Now maybe people will understand why Cindy Sheenan was so upset and mad, and decided to do something to call out the insanity of the war(s).

This is why beloved GWB and Bushco censored and criminalized anybody taking photographs of the war dead or their coffins, reality bites and has political blowback.
They prefer the American people to be like mushrooms, kept in the dark and fed shit.

It broke my heart that people have to suffer so. I can't even begin to imagine what it is like to lose a loved one in that fashion.

That's the thing about losing a loved one in a violent fashion. And for those of us with an MIA experience, there is never any closure; I don't have a headstone to cry on. Here's what I must do instead: "When You Comin' Home, Daddy?"

I will perform this for any group that requests it within reasonable driving distance (or even unreasonable, if costs are covered.) --MaryK

Although I have mixed feelings about his record, I do think he did the right thing today. As people were saying all day, his endorsement gave McCain a slap in the face.

There is no better measure of the health or sickness of our society than the way we treat and/or view the homeless.

Ditto for Britain and most other countries.
If there's no profit in it or a way of scamming something people don't care.

Humanity in general is pretty selfish and short sighted.

...nothing more.

This should work now...

?

Were you meat? You seem to have evolved into a higher plane.

I just wanted to announce that I have a new blog.

Please stop by The Political Megaphone if you have a chance. Meaningful comments are welcome. Trolls aren't.

Done with the Blog Whorage. Now I'm back to being my old self. ;)

Nice blog, Ceci..........:)

eom

Good job!!

I also like The Zoo..........:)

Most appreciated!

If you noticed, your blog, The Zoo, is on the blogroll.

That's so cool! THANKS!

Do you read www.thefieldnegro.com ? You should add him to your blogroll, too. I love his blog.

via The Angry Black Woman. He comments there from time to time. But, I haven't had a chance to visit his blog yet. Now, you've given me an opportunity to truly visit.

But you can be sure that he'll be there on the blogroll, because I've enjoyed what he had to say on The Angry Black Woman.

Thank you for reminding me about him.

And, Ms. Joanne, no problem about putting your blog on the blogroll. Your blog is spectacular. Everyone should read it. :D

He gives me a perspective I don't have (obviously, as a 49 year old white woman) and I think he's funnier than hell.

He bet - a long time ago - that there was no way Obama could win...his bet was that he would take a run down Broad St in Phila in the raw...he keeps making comments about having to exercise now that it looks like Obama is in the bag.

Has me in stitches that man does. He is a very talented writer.

So, I know whatever he writes it's going to be good.:)

As for running the raw, I hope he doesn't get caught--especially if it's cold during that time, lol. ;)

I shall visit often :)

It's not fancy, but I wanted a place to write extended thoughts on politics, current events and other sorts of news. I decided after a while to get back to blogging.

I think that the events warrant it. This is not a time to stay silent.

I bookmarked ya! Will be by to comment! :)

I appreciate you visiting my blog. Please do comment when you can.

Again, thanks for visiting. I loved what you had to say. :)

testing 1-2-3.......is this thing on? Go Amato!

I think I did it right.

I post anonymously because I look at this site at work and really cant keep the cookies saved. I really wish you guys wouldnt go to registered only, that would remove a lot of my comments. Though most of my comments are usually technical corrections to transcripts of your videos...

The problem is the multitudes of anonymii who post here. Some nice, some bestial trolls. It's hell figuring out if your slanging the right anonymous.

I am registered. Assuming that I don't get purged (again (happened to me in 2000)), I am registered.

My site, (((Billy))) The Atheist (http://iambilly.wordpress.com) does not require registration. Thpppt!

Bill the Cat? Welcome Billy, their are many non theist here.

I just call it "Non-Delusional"

Unfortunately, you're forced to resort to logins.

It seems the honour system didn't work and trolls kept coming. But then, the republicans have no honour.

Having to register..........

I understand why, but good gracious, I practically had to hand over my first born just to get a new driver's license (after driving for 35 years in this state).........

This interesting article from Reuters.

Banks and dealers' overall direct borrowings from the Fed averaged a record $437.53 billion per day in the week ended October 15, topping the previous week's $420.16 billion per day.

They go on to say the previous week they borrowed a mere $99B per day...
If that 437B figure is for a five day period that means Wall Street and assorted banks got a TWO TRILLION DOLLAR handout !

So what was the bullshit figure of $700B they waffled about, they went three times above that in a heartbeat...

Anybody who has been watching the DOW, FTSE and other stock markets has seen the ups and downs, with the general trend downhill like ski ramp, money gets pumped into them, they have a two day holiday and all is sweetness then it crashes, then they obviously beg for more money and get it, REPEAT.

The article says on page two that the Treasury is selling bonds to finance the loans, so that prob lowers the value and earning power of gov bonds and makes them worthless as a haven of last resort for small investors and pension funds.

we are fucked.

and running. :( Is that why the market keeps on fluctuating from day to day?

But how much of all this new funny money is being siphoned off to enrich the corps.
Bonuses of $38 Billion in fall 2007 for the Wall Street corps, now they are talking $70 Billion in bonuses and mega salarys for fall 2008 :O

If gov becomes the majority shareholder in some bank/corp then a 100,000 salary cap makes sense, which is being done in the UK and other places I believe.
These people scammed the guts and profits out of their financial companies over the years, they can survive on 100K salary for a year or three on their savings.

Some WS connected pundits might suggest that the WS people might leave in droves and go elsewhere, let them try, there cant be much mega payed work out there for them, normal companies would be wary of hiring people with their track record of failure and blindness.

At about the same time as the bailout, the Federal Reserve also printed up several hundred millions of new funny money, and pumped it into the economy. Thereby devaluing all the other dollars out there.

I was looking for the right example - couldn't find it, but this is close enough to cover the issues:

"Justice Steven's opinion for the Court note that arguments favoring
the ratification of the Constitution advanced in the Federalist Papers
were published under fictitious names. Justice Stevens said "quite
apart from any threat of persecution, an advocate may believe her
ideas will be more persuasive if her readers are unaware of her
identity. Anonymity thereby provides a way for a writer who may be
personally unpopular to ensure that readers will not prejudge her
message simply because they do not like its proponent." Stevens
concluded "Under our Constitution, anonymous pamphleteering is not a
pernicious, fraudulent practice, but an honorable tradition of
advocacy and of dissent. Anonymity is a shield from the tyranny of
the majority. "

In a surprising and somewhat strained opinion, Justice Scalia wrote in
dissent that he could "imagine no reason why an anonymous leaflet is
any more honorable, as a general matter, than an anonymous phone call
or an anonymous letter. It facilitates wrong by eliminating
accountability, which is ordinarily the very purpose of the
anonymity."

I realize that the above applies to public policies, not the activities of a privately owned website. However, I think it alludes to some material concerns. I already use a unique moniker, accompanied with an email address that is constructed like a password. Further registration requirements would necessarily require the site to post a privacy policy that indicated that an endeavor to minimize subpoenable server logs and so forth was being undertaken. The site should indicate that retention of logs are being minimized, unlike Google, for example. Absent that, I'll be unable to register.

That is too bad. Especially in light of the fact that, with the new format, Mr Amato kindly retired his knee-capping team and now you merely get swat on the nose with a rolled up newspaper if you step out of line. You seem to have very curious reasons for silencing your own voice. To each his own.

[We're still here. Signed, the KneeCappers]

*swat*

...just testing the newspaper out. No harm to real NoBuddys...

you're just a bad-assed person, just bad assed. :-)

LOL - Keep me safe!

I am sure all US forums or blogs have to keep records for three or six months or suffer some Federal penalty.
We are allowed to scream and shout but they like to know what we said x number of months ago.

Yep, but can you point me to the policy on this site?

I'd like to know what I said x number of days ago never mind months.

I'd like to remember what I had for breakfast!

Done.

:)

cool!

Great scene from a great film.

I'm not really a Hip Hop fan, but I really like this video --- the music and the seamless manner it samples Obama's 2004 DNC keynote address.

Thanks for the link, Karen. That was tight and positive.

Rightwingers hate positivity and creativity like this because all they know how to do is shit all over everything.

Excellent video and music. Thanks, Karen.

John McCain is an expert on socialism. I heard him say he believes in "wealth creation." It's important to understand that "wealth creation" is synonymous with "marriage to a wealthy beer heiress." That way, you let somebody else do all the hard work and when you marry her, she "spreads the wealth around." That makes you wealthy and able to pass judgment on who and what are and aren't socialists and socialism.

John McCain: fighting socialism by marrying a wealthy beer heiress. What courage! What a man! What an American! What an American hero!

And I'm pretty sure that McCain would think that registering at C&L is just one more form of socialism.

Basically scamming and extorting every last penny they can from the poor people, when the poor people became really poor, they moved their sights onto the middle classes.

should watch this movie...and some of the other Frank Capra's as well! My absolute favorite!

How dare they be made in Hollywood?

Psyche.
hehe.

Hope she loses her seat. She has caused her opponent to gain hundreds of thousands in Campaign funds.

Your own BB?

missed the drift

gave me a good laugh.

They will soon be circling the bowl.

mornin' y'all!

the thought bubbles are so much prettier when you're registered.

name truncation test.

The story of Psyche and Eros was strangely erotic.

Obviously in the myth they were some kind of lovers, but in the illustrations she'd be this gorgeous woman, and he looked to be about 3 or 4.

There are more things to be concerned about than registering, such as:
http://www.wvgazette.com/News/200810170676

whazzup!

He deserves a job on Faux.

At first I thought you ment this L'il Bill.

Hahaha, that kid is great.

Good idea. Now we can read all views without waisting time stamping out neocon lies. We all can think about how to undo all the damage bushco has done to this country. I won't really rest until Nov.4th,but I sure feel good about now. If any of us has a good idea, let it be heard. Thank you C&L and the good people commenting here. 'with liberty and justice for all'......now where have I heard that before? Our founding fathers(and mothers)were smart and allowed for CHANGE, so change we will. (getting down off my soap box..lol)

is to create some sort of uniformity here. I would hope not. I'd miss some of my favorite trolls like good old Chris. If that happens this place could soon become deadly dull. I'm assuming it's about getting more control over the more toxic elements. I've got to have someone to argue with besides Cernig. I agree with him too much anyway.

Can we still keep the Donation Policy if registered posters turn out to be trolls.

Oh, well, I'll do it again if it's necessary. Will we have to do it everytime we want to comment?

[You aren't registered. Click the register button in the upper left right corner of the page. And no you won't have to do it every time-Sitemonitor]

Next time, just log in with the name and password and you're good to go.

Don't you mean the right hand corner?

[Yes. I get those two mixed up-Sitemonitor]

My favorite part of Obama's inevitable win (I will be voting for him, but I guess in New York, it doesn't matter anyway) is that I'll never have to hear about America being racist again. The supposed establishment who supposedly holds down minorities would have obviously done such a thing with Obama if they could have. But, obviously, they can't.

So no more "America is racist". No more affirmative action. No more race baiting. No more Sharpton. No more worthless BS distractions. We can finally get back to "best person for the job:. No more quotas. No more exceptions.

From now on, we realize that America is not racist and the best person will get the job - just like Obama - clearly the best person for the job - has established.

November 4 will be a great great day for America.
