As many of you already know, I look after my mother, who's uninsured, and has been very stubborn about even getting care in an emergency because she worries about the bills... I've been trying for sometime to get her a doctor. I haven't made much progress convincing her to let me find her a good doctor, and to try and get some of her physical health concerns looked at.
But I have talked her into letting me do some feeling around my old mental health clinic (it's a community clinic and handles mostly indigent patients and those who are in crisis mode/newly diagnosed) to learn about her payment options so that she can see my former shrink and possibly my former therapist for what I strongly believe is clinical depression. She's been having these troubles for years, and it's about time something was done.
I promised I wouldn't schedule an appointment for her right away, but if I am able to work something out with the clinic sliding scale wise, that may be what I need to convince her to go.
And if that works out, she may be open to letting me feel around for general practioner who will accept a sliding scale and take care of her physical issues...

she was basically my caregiver for years of bipolar and PTSD issues.
Hopefully this is a good sign that she can eventually get to a doctor somehow...
