Great news about the 9/11 first responders!

Bin Laden is nothing if not predictable. He'd rather rumble with conservatives like him. They fall for his mind games.

Bin Laden is dead. He only becomes alive again prior to elections. He may be the messiah. Rise from the dead when the US has an election and it's Armagedden.

I thought about mentioning that too.

Bush would have had to call off his anti muslim, pro oil crusade. There were a few times when we could have captured/killed him, and choose not to. I mean, we couldn't actually invade Iraq if we'd already killed Bin Laden.

nwbrelic's picture

Faulty logic I'm sorry. Bush/Obama will never call off the crusades. His death would have been a well kept secret. In fact, it would be better for them if he is dead. No sudden surprises like having him suddenly show up to deny any involvement in terror. Besides, we all know that Bin Laden didn't have anything to do with 9/11 anyway.

Rich H's picture

Bush let all the Bin Ladens fly unmolested out of the U.S. after the attack. Who says OBL didn't have a front row seat to the carnage? Then theTaliban offers OBL to us and for some reason we turn them down. Then we let a great deal of Al Queda/Taliban fly out of some air base in Afghanistan while the whole world watches and our forces do absolutely nothing to stop,apprehend/kill them. Then there was the intel where OBL was spotted by a drone but the order was not to fire because the US didn't want to be accussed of killing innocents around him. Except most if not all of those with OBL were Al Queda.

Sure, we went after him hard. Didn't we?

nwbrelic's picture

That's just the point, they DIDN'T want to go after him in the first place. Out in the world he and the mythical terrorist group Al Qaeda can be used again and again as boogey men. Anytime the powers that be want to ramp up the fear another notch they trot out Osama and the gang of "terrorists" who couldn't put together a successful plot if their lives depended on it. Governments in trouble with voters for some infraction? Trot out a tape by Osama or some inept terrorist to botch an attack and voila, the focus is on terror instead of on the government. Works every time with out fail. Of course the media is in on the game so they just play right along.

Rich H's picture

I guess the difference is I think he's still kicking and you think (if I can presume) he's dead, but because of collateral damage or something along those lines. And, if he were dead, we're just not being told.

Makes perfect sense. I just think if he passed away it's because of his illness, not because we tracked him down.

Edwin's picture

nwbrelic's picture

Well, I'm sure that the CIA and special forces, Mossad and maybe MI6 have got some good plans all ready for the next "terrorist" attack. Their last one didn't quite give our owners all the power they want, the next attack will be the one to seal the deal. They can try to wipe Iran off the may and then make tons more money by having a nice war with Russia and China. The banksters can finance both sides again like the last 2 world wars. Oh the fun they'll have.

Edwin's picture

There is certainly an ongoing plan to keep China encircled (Japan, S Korea, defending Taiwan). They have influenced India (and you didn't even get the mangoes). Pakistan was to be an ally or be bombed back to the Stone Ages.

Afghanistan also borders China and they want to keep China away from the resource-rich former Soviet Republics of Central Asia, the Stans. Iran is problematic being between the American colonies of Iraq and Afghanistan, and they bloody hate them for the revolution and the American hostages in 79. .

Here's an interesting article I happened on today at OpEdNews.com.

19 Statistics Indicate Corporate America Has Destroyed America's Economy:

http://www.opednews.com/Diary/19-Statistics-I...

And here is an eleven year old who has a pretty good rap down regarding America's diet:

http://www.commondreams.org/video/2010/09/29-2

"The US has an army of 90,000 soldiers in Afghanistan and is spending $100bn a year, but has still been unable to defeat 20,000-25,000 Taliban who receive no pay at all." - Patrick Cockburn

Those are some grim (19) statistics, and looking to get worse, not better.

I liked this paragraph in the Harper's article:

The current GOP is truly a scary party, but if not for that it would be impossible to care about the midterm elections. When you’re reduced to rooting for soulless hacks like the current Senate majority leader—and he’s typical of today’s Democrats—you’ve lost something fundamental at the core of your humanity.

It's fully understandable why you'd feel burnt out. There's alot of us (or perhaps I'm speaking for myself) who showed that type of commitment and now are content to mill around the edges. Still hoping, but too cynical and too honest.

Take a break and relax, you'll feel better. And by the way, thanks for all your work.

Annaleigh, we all feel like that at times. I feel betrayed by Obama. But it is when we feel this way that we have to take a deep breath and keep pluggin' away. I'm not saying it's easy; far from it.

But we can't give up. We CAN lean on each other for support and encouragement. I've always enjoyed your comments, and hope you keep on posting.

Ignore people like Ron. It's a sign of HIS ignorance that he brings up age and/or maturity. I'm 51, and I'm heartened that 20-somethings such as yourself care enough to be engaged. It's a far cry from the selfish 20-somethings of Gen X, who only cared about themselves and making money. Hang in there. As the older folks die off, there will be a new birth of liberalism, as long as folks such as you stay involved. I'm optimistic that when I'm retired, I will be enjoying an even more diverse, more enlightened, more progressive America.

Keep the faith.

ron's picture

brought up age, I think it is ignorant of you to lay blame on me. I'm a very mature 66 and I just offered an apology for my earlier comment so, you need to show a little more maturity for a 51 year old.

Your initial comment was ignorant. But I am glad you apologized to Annaleigh. As is the case sometimes on these threads, I replied to her without reading through all the current replies. My bad.

But saying I need to show more maturity for a 51 year old is out of line. What part of my comment to her did you deem immature? Calling your initial response ignorant? I stand by that - it was. It's sad that your first response to Annaleigh was "grow up." It seemed she was reaching out, and you didn't help the situation, though you did recognize it later. Maybe we both learned something tonight.

We're on the same side here; let's hope we BOTH can encourage the younger folks to get/stay active in promoting progressive values.

As for any additional comments you may have, all I can say is, "I'm made of rubber and you're made of glue; whatever you say bounces off me and sticks to you. Nyeah, nyeah, nyeah." :)

Good night ron.

Grow up? Because someone questions The Pope Of Hope? In most of the things that really matter, Obama has either done nothing or actually made things worse. Everything that he's done is pure cosmetics. Paint a fresh new coat on an aging and decrepit house of cards and what do you have? A shiny disaster waiting to happen. Torture, war, spying, secretiveness, All the same or worse than before he started. Guantanamo? Up and running quite nicely thank you. Rendition? Shh don't tell anyone and they'll forget all about it. That pesky war in Afghanistan? Purring along quite nicely and thanks for all the heroin. Pakistan? They enjoy being bombed by unseen drones don't they? What's a wedding without a giant explosion or two? The economy? Hey, it's getting better and better all the time, if your name is listed in who's who of the super-rich that is. Jobs? Unemployment? Haven't those pesky poor people died yet?

"I sometimes wonder if that isn't the game plan: wear people down over time" , don't wonder about it Edwin , you are right .

Timjoebillybob's picture

I don't know how the people here in the USA can stand the nonsense at times. But even with the BS here, we can at least criticize the president without fear of legal action. Can you say the same where you are(the leader of the country your in that is, not the US president)? I won't bring up your home country, just the one your staying in at the moment.

Edwin's picture

That's not the point. America is the land of the free, etc., etc. You all have jobs (employment) --or many do, not all-- to do and that's why you have representative democracy in the form of a Republic, that's how the Social Contract works. They should be doing their jobs. They are not doing their jobs. They are working for corporations, not the people. Your government is rotten from the inside out. So, now, the onus is on you to do your job and watchdog theirs. That's not right. It's also not right that so many millions don't really participate at all. The few who do are overtaxed their energies and financial contributions. That's what Annaleigh is talking about (I think).

I think, technically, it is not OK to criticize the government here (on paper), but everyone does, all the time. What do you think the protests about American beef were about, where 200,000 flooded the main avenue (to the palace)? It wasn't about US beef, it was about the new president doing too much power grabbing. US beef imports just got the mob angry. It's because he wants to shove trade deals down the throats of people here. Citizens are not interested in free trade with America, the corporations are.

Protests go on here ALL THE TIME. More than anywhere I've ever seen.

Korea is new at democracy, and the people here are quite active. Unfortunately because of the years of military dictators and strong Confucian customs, it's not really polite to question one's superiors (ever). I am tired of the Reich wing , tired all of the insanity and I am tired of Fox news and the F'n tea baggers and on and on , honestly , it's wearing me down which is by their design , what they are trying to do , it's been two friggin years and we figure Obama nearly single handily should have turned this country into a liberal / progressive utopia by now ? Man , do I ever share your frustration and agony but we gotta get real and it is true , now is the worst time to abandon ship .The Reich wing are at war against the upper middle class on down , literally at war , and they literally do want to totally destroy this country ( Grover Norquist will be a happy man ) so they can then do what they want to do , turn it into an out right plutocracy and a kind of fascist state . There was 9 11 ( ever read the Project for the New American Century declaration ? ) , under Bush / Cheney the Republicans spent like there was no tomorrow sky rocketing the debt , Iraq and Afghanistan , on borrowed money from China , besides the fools hoped that we could install our puppet governments , control their oil and dominate in the region they wanted and want to bankrupt the treasury in order to get rid of all social programs that they despise ( one reason ) , they have sabotaged the Supreme Court , now a corporation is a person ! This person can pour all of the money they want to into any issue or candidates campaign they want to and do so anonymously . The economy melt down , deregulation , you tellin me they didn't know what they were doing and didn't see it coming ? The crooks made unimaginable fortunes , destroyed their own firms in the process and then get rewarded with a trillion bucks in bailouts , reimbursements for all their trouble ! Damn ! Add it all up , this is for real , as serious as a friggin heart attack , none of this is coincidence or an accident .They do not need we the people , they don't even need this country , the money being made by the Corporations and by Wall Street , by the multi millionaires and billionaires more and more is being made in over seas markets , not here , which is why they don't give a damn about us and this government is just a pain in their asses , we the people are a pain in their asses . It is madness but welcome to the world of the neoconservative Reich wing and a world where greed is a virtue ! We are the only ones putting up resistance , it looks like they are unstoppable but do we give it up and surrender now ? Trust me , I feel your pain but no , I am so tired of this shit but no , I don't want to just hand it all to the bastards . Look , I am a dumb cluck , this is not very eloquent , my writing skills etc suck , I am an older guy who's been in construction all of my life , too many years out of school , I can build your home but George Will I am not ( thank God ) , this is how I see it and how I'm feelin .Like I said you are not alone .

Tom Clements is the Green Party candidate.

His website: Tom Clements for Senate

From a talk he gave 2 weeks ago to the Greater Irmo Democratic Club:
Clements calls out Tea Party supporter DeMint on Social Security

He's stepped into the breach left by the nomination of Alvin Greene as the "Democrat".

Perfect opportunity to strengthen the Green Party, dump DeMint, and put a real progressive in the Senate.
