I wonder if the scientists had any government funding voted against by conservatives and denounced by fundamentalists. My friends? This goat has no comment....

What does it do?

Why save this breed of goat? Just 'cause? Or does it have x-ray vision and superconducting hooves or just fart bannanas?

And who killed the last goat anyway? And whoever did, will they have to kill this one too since it is a clone? And keep killing with each new goat?

We might need to clone a person to take care of that.

Brad's picture

People concerned about endangered species were alarmed by this technology. It brought up concerns that you could justifiably eliminate a species because you could reintroduce it with clones.

I was thinking about storing some of my genes to be brought back later in case I kill myself.

Not me. I've had enough of this shit, and it's only going to get worse until we have a complete world breakdown and start over (in about 500 years). Besides, what's so exciting here anyway?

Well, thanks. Beleive or not, I'm not miserable or sad. I have had a pretty good life and lots of love, travel, friends, fun, etc., but...

I suppose I'm tired of the politicization of life, there's no sense of class or grace left in most people, and MOSTLY, we have started worshipping money and consumer goods, not the things that really matter.

But thanks for thinking of me.

I think I should have been born in a different time.

far left loon >.<

fastfeat's picture

I, like many people I'm sure, have thought that I should have been born at a different time. (Personally, I wish I could have been older during the late 60s to early 70s).

As I've gotten older though, I really think that things wouldn't have been any "better", as my perspective is really shaped by how I've been able romanticize those times as an "outsider", looking back at those times now.

As wiser people people have convinced me, got to make the best of the times in which we now live.

Good to see you back here. Hang in there, my friend...

...she's notably ignorant about science of any kind. Remember her mocking fruit fly research, in one of her campaign speeches? What a dolt.

I can't believe that the neocon sheep believe her long-after-the-fact excuses for her stupid inane responses to questions in interviews (Gibson, Couric), and her stupidity in speeches like that one. And her stupidity in being pranked in a phone call from a fake foreign leader.

Add all the examples like that up together, and the number of ethical and illegal things she's been involved in, in Alaska during her political career, and she's a national disaster hopefully never to happen.

I love it! I'm glad it still exists, even though its dead, and its so cute, even if it ends up being the last thing I see as it gnaws through my skull...

fastfeat's picture

what about genetic diversity within the species? I suspect that offspring (assuming that males and females are cloned and later bred) will have some serious deficiencies, typical of inbreeding.

If they weren't Republicans to begin with, they soon will be.

Interesting 10 page article by James Lieber from the Village Voice on what was the root and cause of the collapse, the seeds were planted in the late 80s.

Use the print article option to see the article as one webpage.

http://www.villagevoice.com/content/printVers...

To say the bailout hasn't worked so far is putting it mildly. Since the crisis broke, Washington's reaction has been chaotic, lenient to favorites, secretive, and staggeringly expensive. An estimated $7.36 trillion, more than double the total American outlay for World War II (even correcting for inflation), has been thrown at the problem, according to press reports. Along the way, banking, insurance, and car companies have been nationalized, and no one has been brought to justice.

Combined unemployment and underemployment (those who have stopped looking, and part-timers) runs at nearly 20 percent, the highest since 1945. Housing prices continue to hemorrhage—last fall's 18 percent drop could double. Holiday shopping fizzled: 160,000 stores closed last year, and 200,000 more are expected to shutter in '09. Some forecasts place eventual retail darkness at 25 percent. In 2008, the Dow dropped further—34 percent—than at any time since 1931. There is no sound sector in the economy; the only members of the 30 Dow Jones Industrials posting gains last year were Wal-Mart and McDonald's.

PLUS the above mentioned article tell about 75% of what one needs to know about what happened...

Some people never learn. Barry is ready to tackle health care reform. Freddie Mac plays the old Fox Guarding the hen-house trick. Give kids guns and they'll use them. The Dow's the lowest in 12 years. I seem to remember a Brit or Aussie Madoff who made that happen back then. Reid doesn't want to use the economic n-word around Obama, even though electoral-vote.com notes that Bush's Daddy bought out the bad banks, too. Hillary begs China not to stop buying our debt. Fertility clinics don't follow the rules. The AP repeats Republican talking points about the stimulus. UBS-Gate's going to take a while to be closed. The Navy and the Pentagon lie about Gitmo. Barry's transportation legacy? Forensic labs need more cash.

Almost brought a tear to my eye. :)

The beneficiaries of taxpayer charity will be highly concentrated in just five states - California, Nevada, Arizona, Florida and Michigan. That is not because the subsidized homeowners are poor (Californians with $700,000 mortgages are not poor), but because they took on too much debt, often by refinancing in risky ways to "cash out" thousands more than the original loan. Nearly all subprime loans were for refinancing, not buying a home.

but at a certain point, i understood the threshold had been crossed; where silence is no longer golden, it's betrayal.

This is a video from yesterday, Monday, Feb. 23, of Ann Coulter talking to Sean Hannity.

These people are sick.

Watch how Hannity and Coulter conveniently forget that it was the 8 years of the Bush administration, accelerating the failed policies of the Reagan/Bush years, that lead to the economic meltdown we find ourselves in today.

Watch how they criticize the policies of the new administration of only one month; policies just announced, not having had time to kick in and other policies that are still being worked out.

Watch how they giggle as they mock the current U.S. leadership.

Hannity calls his hit piece, “Day 35 of False Hopes and Loose Change.”

What is really going on here is that these governors are willing to put their own political ambitions ahead of the needs of the people of their state. All three of these gentlemen want to run for the Republican nomination in 2012, and they think that they will endear themselves to the GOP base by taking a hard line against the stimulus. If this means twisting the truth and hurting the unemployed in their states, so be it. Their position is based on cold political calculus, which may benefit them with Republicans, but would destroy them if any one of them were lucky enough to become the GOP nominee.

Most Americans said the president was trying to make good on his promise to bridge the partisan divide. About three-quarters, including 6 in 10 Republicans, said Mr. Obama had been trying to work with Republicans. But only 3 in 10 Americans said Republicans were doing the same.

"Dear President Obama": The President Reads 10 Letters a Day from the Public, With Policy Ramifications - http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2009/...
Monday through Friday the head of White House Correspondence delivers ten letters to be read by the President, choosing among letters that are broadly representative of the day’s news and issues; ones that are broadly representative of President’s intake of current mail, phone calls to the comment line, and faxes from citizens; and messages that are particularly compelling.
A president 'you can have a beer with' or a president 'that cares enough to read letters you send him'....not a tough choice...

CBS News Pick Claimed Democrats are Bad People - http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ira-forman/cbs-...
A decade ago, I debated Ballabon in New York. I represented the Democratic Jewish community while he spoke on behalf of Republican Jews. During the debate, Ballabon claimed that, after his most recent job in Washington, he became convinced that Democrats are inherently bad people and Republicans are fundamentally good people.
Well, I stopped watching them when they setup Dan Rather....and still don't....no one really should, there's no reason to....

'Liberal talk network Nova M Radio has filed for bankruptcy liquidation, according to the company's co-founders Anita and Sheldon Drobny. Established in 2006, Nova M had been struggling financially since last fall due to a weak ad market. To make matters worse, talk host Randi Rhodes disappeared from the network and its 34 affiliates last month.'

Since MSNBC mentioned looking for a 10 p.m. host to follow Rachel Maddow, the LA Times reports that two grass-roots campaigns have been flooding the network — as well as hitting Facebook and YouTube — in order to push liberal talkers Cenk Uygur, of "The Young Turks." and Air America's Sam Seder.

Republican hypocrisy: The 'nays' have it - http://www.tahoedailytribune.com/article/2009...
Ironically, these so-called tax cutters voted against the biggest tax cut in history. It’s typical of their historic partisan behavior of fomenting trouble that eventually requires the Democrats’ rescue. In 1932 Franklin Roosevelt was called to lead the way out of the Depression that began under Republican rule; in the 1990s it took Bill Clinton’s fiscal management to rescue an inherited economy in debt by $290 billion and turn it over to his successor with a $200-billion-plus surplus.
That morphed into a $1 trillion debt under Bush-Cheney, so last November Americans called in the Democratic cavalry.

If being cold means there's no such thing as global warming, does being full mean there's no such thing as world hunger?

I've also noticed some glitches here at Miami's 940WINZ-- three hour shows repeating the second hour of the program into the third hour time slots, programs ending 15 min early. Not sure what's up.

The animal shown in the picture is not the cloned goat.

If you read the article, you'll find out that the cloned animal died shortly after birth due to defects in its lungs.

I think the text of this post is misleading.

Exactly. I was going to say that the one reason I'd be against cloning is because it could revitalize the rethug ranks! Eek!
