Sam Seder has another superb episode of "That's Bullshit" featuring the fine folks attending GlennBeckapalooza last week. One of the more interesting interviewees opines that black people should love coming to Beck events and Tea Parties -- because, after all, when they do, they're fawned all over by white people eager to prove they're not racist.
Me? I'm with Sam and the flag vendor.
Meanwhile, Jason Easley at PoliticsUSA has evidence that Beck was wearing a bulletproof vest under his shirt that day. (I wondered about this myself at the time.)
That raises the question: Did Martin Luther King wear body armor on Aug. 28, 1964? Answer: No. Because he was about love, not fear.

Uh...yes...?

they are so brutally stupid, and yes, racist.
ain't too far off the marx.
You know these Beck events could be even more successful if they hired more Negroes.
Negroes who will agree to have their pictures taken with you so you can "prove" you're not racist.
Some of my best friends are hired Negroes.
"To me, truth is not some vague, foggy notion. Truth is real. And,
at the same time, unreal. Fiction and fact and everything in between,
plus some things I can't remember, all rolled into one big "thing."
This is truth, to me. "

I wish i could be there just to see teh stupid and laugh at them.

was wearing during that televised debate in 2000? Ya know, that big square thing on his back that bulged through his shirt?
“The greatest evildoers are those who don’t remember because they have never given thought to the matter, and, without remembrance, nothing can hold them back,”
maybe one of the best news shows out there (more news that fucx) - i kid you not. this week he compared beck to the tv clown Soupy Sales.

loved Seder scanning the crowd for African Americans.
I'm just superstitious enough to hedge my bets.
It's a funny concept, but learn how to record audio so that your good efforts aren't wasted.
i heard a caller on today's re-broadcast of randi rhodes say that on bleck's show before the palooza he actually made a comment about how he may not "make it", intimating that he may be killed (?), shades of MLK, of course... i can't watch/listen - does anyone know about that?
and, remember colbert the other night? "O MY GOD!!! BECK'S BLACKBOARD IS GOING TO KILL HIM!"
(paraphrasing mostly), after showing a clip of bleck proclaiming his and his car's good health in case "something happens" to him, his fans will know what/how...
he says the FBI wanted him to wear that vest - has that claim been validated? can it?
i heard it was his wife to wanted him to wear it...
guy's a real piece of work, for sure...
the re-broadcast was of last friday's show - the day before the bleck fest...
(hey, where's the edit feature?)
but wasn't it Harry S Truman that said , it most of been a jew that sold a .50cent sheet to the KKK for 20 bucks ? .
every time you throw a little mud , you lose a little ground .
You better be sure before you say crap like that.

Once again Sam Seder gets to the heart of the herd
I'd be wearing a bullet proof vest 24/7. Some 'fan' is bound to aim their 'second Amendment remedies' in his direction sooner or later. After all he is a Mormon leading a "Christian" political revival, sooner or later someone is going to decide that the fundamentalist/Mormon truce is over and one of those Southern Baptist, Christian Identity, or Third Waver dominionists is going to decide "Mormon" and "Muslim" don't sound all that different.
But you know ... that might not be a vest ... it could be his magic underwear showing through.

I have read on this blog people wishing him dead.
Beck is pure satire and comedy, and the perfect self advertisement for teh stupid.
Ditto for Sarah 'plank' Palin, walking talking examples to remind all sensible people to beware the morons, nobody sane on the left wishes them ill.
on the left. Nobody sane wishes them ill, but they have to worry about the crazies. But would you begrudge them the protection a bullet resistant vest offers?
You mean like preachers encouraging their flock to pray for Obama's death?

BTW... MLK gave his famous speech on August 28, 1963.

Or the 3,651 Secret service agents, snipers, local police, etc that were present? All amount to the same thing which is safety. Or at least a feeling or illusion of such.
There is a huge difference between the POTUS and a rodeo clown. Equating the security detail of the two is a blatant use of a false equivalence. A rodeo clown has a limited sphere of influence while a POTUS has global influence. There's also the fact that the rodeo clown constantly uses incendiary language about the other, and President Obama doesn't lower himself to even mention the name of the rodeo clown in spite of all of the lies/conspiracy theories that the clown creates and promotes about him.
Good piece Sam. Spelled whoops wrong though......................

thats the first time i seen that show and i just love it.thanks C and LIARS for showing it.
I doubt Glen Beck would need a bullet proof vest when he has God protecting him at all times. At a closer look you will probably find he is wearing little Bibles sewn together. Besides, it would take a silver bullet to take Glen down.
There is absolutely NO way I'd be caught African America while attending any of Beck's events after knowing that Beck has alienated almost every group in America and has smeared President Obama with his baseless claims and conspiracy theories. The AA posing for pictures with the signs "DO I Look Racist?" fails to realize that whether one is racist or not depends not upon what he/she looks like, but on the person's words/actions. I spent the first 17 years of my life under racism in America and have been subjected to racism in one form or another for the 57 years I've lived in the southern U.S.
People like the attendees at the Beckapalooza event are the same types that held signs and shouted racial epithets in 1967 at that very frightened 13 year old kid on her way into a middle school that the protesters considered to be "theirs" even though her parents were homeowners and paid taxes to support that school. I was that 13 year old kid. I don't hate Beck or any of the others who are playing the race card for all it's worth to gain an electoral advantage in November, but I make sure I always remember the behavior when I see it so that I can fight against it with ever fiber of my being. My experience growing up under segregation is the main reason I support all others in their struggle to secure their Constitutionally-guaranteed rights. Not having full access to one's Constitutionally-guaranteed rights leaves an indelible stain on not only those who are disenfranchised but on the whole country.
I think the right wing t-shirt industry puts something in the fabric that kills brain cells - the more you wear one, the stupider you get. Almost all of the teabagger are wearing a t-shirt with a slogan.
PS - this does not apply to t-shirts with rock bands on them (except Ted Nugent)
I don't think there was such a thing as bullet resistant body armor when King was alive.
