Bill O'Reilly must be feeling a bit sensitive these days about the ongoing mockery of his work over at Comedy Central in the form of Jon Stewart's Daily Show and Stephen Colbert's show, which is essentially a running parody of O'Reilly anyway.
Last night, he even deigned to respond -- first, to Stewart, with smug, self-serving BS, and then to Colbert by attempting comedy. Which, as you can see, might be funny to someone with long-term dementia, but otherwise ... well, Bill, don't quit your day job.
Actually, the self-serving crap was really quite funny:
O'Reilly: Like Mr. Stewart, we like to poke a little fun -- but we're not hateful. Unlike Jon, we give the entire story, because our audience wants that.
That gave me quite a chuckle.

If they get The Colbert Report in hell it sounds like a cool place. I don't have Comedy Central now, but thankfully when I die, I'll get to watch all my favorite shows!

So he wasn't your first choice for music. However, his show never made fun of people, pushed rethug thinking or any of sicko faux tv ideas.
He did concerts for USA and god. I don't have a problem with that. Would you listen to Welk or crap rap?

I read that about half the number of Faux watchers are counted from retirement home common rooms.
Getting the 75-95 demo is easy after lunch and meds.
They just wheel them in and park them in front of a TV that's always on Faux.
Conscious or not, if they have a pulse, they're technically a viewer.
I think putting our elders on icebergs and watching them drift away would be more humane.
If O'Reilly was seriously trying to make the point that Stewart and Colbert aren't funny...he achieved a funny by failing. It must be painfully boring to be Conservative...no wonder they're so angry.

that a lot of humor is based on pain and humiliation (consider the pratfall or pie-in-the-face) But the laughter is a defense against the sad/badness, it comes from a sense of empathy with the sufferer/comic.
Conservatives, wingnuts, Repugs, whatever they call themselves, obviously lack any vestige of empathy or humor. Their defense against bad things is to lash out in rage and hate. Torture and murder make as much sense to them as ROTFL to normal humans.
When I saw this last night, I knew it was a lame attempt on BillO's part to make some comedy....but I was really scratching my head.....damn, Bill....that wasn't funny at all. I don't get it.
Insannity also has been trying his hand at "comedy." He's got this segment on he calls "LI-BER-AL TRANS-LA-TION." I don't get it at all.....what's with the hyphenated words? It's just not funny at all.....it's in fact quite stupid. What is wrong with conservatives' and their minds?????? They don't think like we do. And, what I told BillO last night is, if he thinks he gives the "entire" story, why didn't he show the original ad coming from that anti-gay marriage group, the ad Stephen Colbert was making fun of? Colbert's ad was funny, but if you see that original ad, then Colbert's parody is even so much more funny.

I have a good friend who is an atheist. He's like Bill Maher and thinks that religion is purely superstition.
Some years ago, he married a divorced woman with 2 young girls. They are Catholic.
My friend likes to tell the story that when the youngest girl got confirmed, he attended the service, where former Archbishop Raymond Burke (extreme conservative) walked down the aisle at the end of mass, sprinkling holy water on people.
When the Archbishop came by my friend and sprinkled holy water on him, my friend said that he screamed out, "It burns, it burns!!!!!"
Cracks me up whenever I hear that story.
Now that guy has a REAL sense of humor.
Just out of curiosity, is he still married?

So is BillO being a journalist here ?
a journalist in situations where he senses a need for credibility (like on Letterman, in his 60 Minutes interview, to try to seperate himself from Limbaugh and other right-wing pundits).
But when he gets called out for saying something completely ridiculous, he defends his words by calling himself a commentator or an analyst with an opinion based show.
Basically BillO sticks his finger in the wind to allow the situation at hand to dictate what he calls himself. He has no credibility. He's a fraud.
I love it how conservatives can magically transform themselves (journalist or commentator?) according to the situation they are facing. kind of how like Dick Cheney switched to the Executive / Legislative Branches based on the situation at the moment.

ego maniac. Stewart aired proof showing BillO validating the tea party protests but trying to invalidate the Code Pink protest. BillO was outed as a big lying hypocrite and he can't handle it. BillO's response to Stewart was pure BS as he completely ignored the very clips that Stewart had aired (which was very telling of BillO as he knows Stewart had him dead to rights).
BillO's stabs at humor are typically bad but he fancies himself a sort of satirist anyway. Recall his "satire" about Coit Tower or read some of his columns for The Circle (student newspaper) at Marist College. He thinks he was being funny when in reality it was nothing more than bad writing and a bad sense of humor.
BillO really has no place to claim that he tells the entire story. There's so much evidence out there proving otherwise. Surely he's heard of Media Matters, Newshounds, Crooks & Liars, etc. who have facts showing the numerous times he's chose to leave out the the entire story? ROFLMAO!

Lets take a look at two 'current' types...

Dennis Miller - was 'anchor' of Weekend Update which he did a decent job with, then went on to play the lead in Tales from the Crypt's "Bordello of Blood" where he was upstaged by Angie Everhart & Corey Feldman in supporting roles. We won't reflect on the clusterf*ck of a season in which he attempted to be the color guy on Monday Night Football (colossal *fail* if there ever was one)
If I'm missing someone its because there aren't that many or they aren't that noteworthy....hey, no wonder the right wingnuts hate Hollywood & 'Secular Central'....
Honestly, the reason that con-servatives suck at comedy & satire, is they don't have a true understanding of it, and their entire world viewpoint is so narrow & misguided that they can't really understand the human condition, hence...comedy & satire are bizarre/unimportant concepts to them.
I don't consider Bob Hope (iconic) or some of the older 'well known' republican acts to be right wingnuts, because they were republicans back before the party died with Eisenhower...
BillO can never win when attempting to take on Stewart and/or Colbert, whether at their level or by claiming to take the high road.

The Daily Show and The Colbert Report are comedy shows, not news shows, and they don't purport to be "fair and balanced," although ironically they are frequently more so than anything on Faux News. In three months, Jon Stewart has already lampooned the Obama administration more than Faux News criticized the Bush administration in 8 years.
The real joke is that as O'Reilly is lauding his program for giving the "whole story" he selectively edits the daily show piece to make it look like Jon was single-mindedly focusing his attacks on fox, whereas the truth is that Jon indiscriminately attacked fox, cnn, and msnbc.
MSNBC primetime shows seems to have low ratings, but they provide more opportunities for watching their shows. MSNBC primetime shows are available an hour after the live show on thier website. MSNBC website is the most popular news website in the country (partly because they MSN links to them for news). MSNBC shows provide full podcasts on itunes and they are highly rated on itunes. Rachel Maddow Show, Countdown, and NBC Nightly news are in the top 20 video podcasts. MSNBC viewers tend to be younger, so there is a higher probability they watch entertainment shows during primetime and watch the news later on their TiVO or DVR or other places but live TV. Clips of their shows that have to do with the Obama Administration are also available on Hulu.
