The Gene Robinson prayer that no one wanted to broadcast
As Howie reports, no one can seem to figure out just who it was that thought it would be a good idea to omit Rev. Gene Robinson's invocation from the HBO broadcast of yesterday's inauguration event. AfterElton reports HBO is blaming the Obama transition team, while the Obama folks are saying it just slipped through the cracks.

The damned dude flapped his gums for 4:14. That is longer than any act that appeared on the show except Garth Brooks, and I regard "Shout" as plenty enough religion for any show. On any show Robinson would have been given the hook.

We regret the error in executing this plan – but are gratified that hundreds of thousands of people who gathered on the mall heard his eloquent prayer for our nation that was a fitting start to our event.
Update Leah McElrath Renna reports: "A PIC source reports that some clips from the Lincoln Memorial event, including Bishop Robinson's prayer, will be played on the Mall prior to the swearing in ceremony. In addition, there are reports that HBO will likely include the prayer in its re-broadcast of the event."

Can't everything Robinson prayed for the mythological bearded sky God to give Obama, Obama can simply find in himself? Shouldn't the prayer be simply that?

I've been uncomfortable with Obama, but considering the alternative, he was the Messiah. I am willing to see what he does, and hope all his rhetoric was not lip service. But to proclaim him a failure before he even takes office, smacks a bit of right-wing whining.

To me, that says a lot. Simple human error--not a slight or deliberate oversight.

i must be a demon or something because every time i hear a religious figure speak, my stomach convulses involuntarily. it does not matter if i agree with it or not, or if the statement shares my concerns, but asking god of anything is idiotic. god does what it wants. and also talking to an imaginary friend is idiotic, especially when asking the imaginary friend to protect our nation and president and solve all of the ailments of the world.

That was just stupid.
Government + the Federal Reserve = organized crime
...the sound problems. The whole first part of the prayer was inaudible and the crowd chanted "turn it up" over and over. It wasn't until the last part that they got the sound working. HBO also did not broadcast the unfortunate incident with the eagle, so I doubt there was any nefarious intent.
it's interesting that this got tagged Gay Rights but not Obama Inauguration or Barack Obama like Warren's invocation. was that a choice by crooks and liars to further marginalize it?
