Oh, man, is Meghan McCain ever asking for it:

In an appearance on ABC's The View, Meghan McCain also took issue with a number of recent statements from Sarah Palin, criticizing the former Alaska governor for defending Rush Limbaugh's use of the word "retard" and for suggesting that President Obama launch a war against Iran in order to win a second term.

McCain described Former Republican congressman Tom Tancredo's call for a literacy test for voters as "innate racism."

McCain obviously also has issues with Palin, but it was Tancredo's speech -- in which he thanked God that McCain's father lost the election -- that stuck in her craw:

"It's innate racism, and I think it's why young people are turned off by this movement," McCain retorted on The View.

"I'm sorry, but revolutions start with young people, not 65 year old people talking about literacy tests and people who can't say the word 'vote' in English," McCain added.

McCain, a self-described "progressive Republican," criticized Palin's assertion that President Obama could get himself re-elected to a second term if he launched a war against Iran.

"You should never go to war unless its the absolute last circumstance," McCain said.

As for Palin's defense of Rush Limbaugh for using the word "retard" after calling for White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel's resignation over the same word last week, McCain said it was a symbol of "exactly what is wrong with politics today.

"We can't placate and say Democrats can say one thing and Republicans can say another thing," she said.

McCain added that the rhetoric coming from the Tea Party movement and from Republicans like Palin "will continue to turn off young voters, and anybody who says different is smoking something."

Why, if she only watched Fox News, McCain would know that America loves this movement and it's full of revolutionary fervor and all kinds of vim and vigor and pep!

Translation: Intraparty heretics like Meghan McCain are political roadkill. Like her dad.

As if her support for her pop is somehow reasonable?

She is nearly as bad as Palin.

"Translation: Intraparty heretics like Meghan McCain are political roadkill. Like her dad."

Let's hope so.

I loved it when she had her as* handed to her on the Maher show (but not by Bill who was too busy checking her out).

youre all being far to hard on her.

if I have to listen to republican group think, I'll take meaghan over Dick Cheney's-pant suit wearing daughter any day of the week....

Most young people do ---listen to her --she is doing the work for dems instead of being a 'r party' person...

She told the truth---DEMS SHOULD LISTEN AND BLACKOUT EVERY MENTION OF THE DIVERSION THE REPUBS ARE PUSHING..When they -'tp's- and the quitter' get more ink than a lying Congress person --our values are being run by the republicans!!!

If she is unhappy with Sarah, she can thank her dad, who thought women were so shallow and stupid that they would vote for any woman no matter the issue.
So Meghan say "Thanks Dad" for a job well done.

in the tire swing in Sedona with Daddy that she missed all those years while he was in DC serving his country first by keeping those terrorists off our national lawn.

leader Limpball's, er, ring...

From what I have heard, and mind you its just rumors, Mr. Limbaugh doesn't like girls Ms. McCain's age. When he visits the Dominican Republic, with prescription Viagra not in his name, it is rumored that he prefers girls, shall we say, pure as the driven snow who have yet to come into age?

On the other note, I wish Ms. McCain had spoken up during the campaign. Maybe Arizona would have gone for President Obama as well.

...

That is a filthy lie about Mr. Limbaugh. You should be ashamed of yourself.

He doesn't go anywhere near girls when he's in the DR.

I haven't heard those words since I read ads in some 1950s True Confessions magazines. They're euphemisms for impotence remedies (pre-Viagra).

Seems to fit here.

Vim, vigor and vip. If you had a pair you would have remembered.

.

If you look up "vim" in the dictionary, the definition is "vigor."

(Fun Facts to Know and Tell)

Now That would be funny interesting!

Hell?

Or maybe they could mud-wrestle.

I saw her on ABC on Sunday. She needs to lose the Valley Girl diction and syntax. And hold her head still! It is very distracting. And, I hate to say it, but her grasp of the issues isn't very deep. She keeps repeating "The Republican Party" and "The Movement." What, exactly, does that mean?

Well, Repugs ARE Number 2!

is a movement, a bowel movement, she couldn't be more succinct!

amazingly, she speaks exactly like most of the gals from that state...including a former gf of mine

i find it cute

and she hates the teabaggers and sp

so bully for her

Vim, vigor, vip & vapid.

Today's lesson brought to you by the letter V.

I find it difficult to fault children who try to stand up for their parents. I can give McCain's daughter a bit of slack, since at least on this occasion she is making some sense. Now Dick Cheney's daughter is the spawn of Satan, so that doesn't count.

Satan called. He's not happy that you believe that Liz Cheney is the "Spawn of Satan". He says that he has higher morals than that.

she's doing a better job at trying to salvage the family name than her father is.

She's unpolished, young and somewhat inept but her attitude is a Hell of a lot better than her seniors are.

Well young people fight & die in revolutions, but they usually are started by the 65-ers

Why exactly is the opinion of a child of an actor, I mean statesman relevant to anyone? Seriously, who the f--k is she anyway? Why the hell is her opinion presented to me on TV as if it means anything more to me than someone in a bar? ; or the local park?

Your opinions and ideas matter! Not theirs! Be and live around your family, your friends, neighbors, STOP DEFINING YOUR LIFE ACCORDING TO THE GLOWING BOX!!

As for my neighbors: they have a huge US flag on a big pole day and night, rain, snow or sunshine. It's shockingly ragged, but that's OK because they're Repugs. They had McCain-Palin signs all over their yard.

My family?- well my brothers are Limbaugh admirers who still blame all our country's problems on "Illegals" "Liberals" and "Welfare Mothers". Really.

My friends opinions on politics: "I don't pay attention to politics, they're all crooks!"

KWillow - as a veteran I would be interested to know if your neighbor is a veteran. It has been my experience that, nine times out of ten, that knuckleheads like that usually aren't. After 9/11 our neighbor's son, who was about nineteen, drove around with two U.S. flags flying from the back of his pickup. I asked him when he was joining up. He looked at me like I was crazy. Those flags were tattered and ratty in no time. When I pointed out to him that it was against flag etiquette he again looked at me like I was crazy. "Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel." Samuel Johnson 18th century British political writer.

but Veterans usually show more respect for the flag. It beats me how people who claim to love the Flag, and want burning it to be a Federal Crime, don't try to take care of their flags. Ragged flags on car antennas, flags left up all night, or sewn on someone's jacket.

I was tempted to ring his doorbell & point out he was practically desecrating the flag, but sanity returned to me.

My Dad, who died last June, had a US flag saved from the Guadalcanal offensive, I think (definitely the Pacific Theater) He was a landing barge pilot or is it captain? Anyway, my memory's fuzzy, but I think he said a Marine gave it to him. He kept it folded and put away, though, as it wasn't suitable to put up. I suspect he flew it on 9/11.

Everyone remember when Peggy Noonan said that Obama was just some young, brash guy who's essentially getting in over his head? She makes it sound like you're not allowed to be President unless you're in the age-group most likely to have a stroke (and, thus, allow certain Alaskan religious zealots to take their place.) Honestly, even though Meghan's a Republican, she's at least being honest about the Tea Party's undercurrent of racial tension straight-up racism.

I'd say it's about time young people got up and kicked the old politicians out of office. And I'm not talking about young people their 40s or even mid-30s. Get fresh blood in there, when their idealism is still strong and not stamped out by corporate money or disillusionment with the system, and they'll change things.

What I don't understand is why they are not more mad at the cause of their anger? The conservatives the so called republicans have made a total mess of almost everything, yet they want to blame the only people wanting to help them and fix things. It is just insanity!
republicanism/conservatism is a mental illness!

Because they lost the 2009 elections, that's why. I highly doubt there's a single left-winger in the Tea Party, especially when you consider how they're turning Sarah Palin into their figurehead.

...

"You know why they're mad?"

No specific reason - just be absolutely sure it IS NOT because a younger man of color is President. (/snark)

-our corporation loving, anti-union Gov has really worked them over, probably all their lives. Being poorly educated, or read, they don't have the information on who exactly is behind their screwing over.

The corporate media, which is way, WAY too powerful (and is NOT a Free Press!), especially FoxScrews, is trying to channel these people's rage towards the usual suspects: immigrants (legal or un-), minorities, and Democrats/Liberals. We know none of these groups are responsible for the plight of the tea-baggers, but they've been skillfully indoctrinated to fear and hate the very people who are trying to help them.

And of course there are the crazys, the Haters and Bigots, and NeoFascists (who are not Liberal!)

People who are poorly educated and read should recognize that they are poorly educated and that they have no idea what they're talking about on complicated issues like these.

ignorant people don't know they're ignorant, which is why they stay ignorant.

It also explains why rich republicans can feed their ignorance as an election technique. See 'elitist' &c.

I'll admit that I'm becoming a bit of a Meghan McCain fan. While I don't understand what on earth she's still doing as a Republican (maybe some education on the issues would change that), I like that she's not insane, and makes quite a bit of sense at times.

And all the crap that that Coultergeist and Ingraham gave her (very high school and stupid of them), makes me respect her more.

and other closet progressives are hoping that they can reform the party from the inside out

good luck to them

for bringing that woman out of Alaskan obscurity and onto the national stage. He unleashed a monster and now Meghan is having to go and try to clean up daddy's mess. Impossible at this point as Ms. Palin believes her own press and in the power of her speaking engagement paychecks--a combination that is giving her delusions even greater than the ones she had to begin with.

Yes, Senator, you did this and there you sit there in D.C. denying the rest of us health care and every other way to help out the average American--keep towing the party line, John.

Pretty sure most of her support was from the RNC bosses who compared McCane's strengths (or lack thereof) to his target voters, all using Ted Stevens' intertube contraption. When Stevens' contraption ran out of whale oil one night, Palin just happened to be in the neighborhood with some Wasilla meth, racing snowmobiles, and enough firepower to bag a beluga from land. The rest is, well, just rumour...

good one

Cue the screeching of a thousand flying blue wingnut monkeys in 3... 2... 1...

"We can't placate and say Democrats can say one thing and Republicans can say another thing," she said.

PLACATE is a verb. Here's yet another misuse of our language such that it confuses instead of edifying.

... although not very gracefully. It's simply not the right word for that sentence.

Well, hey, her primary language is Valleygirlese.

Your in-house editor and writer,

BID

Take that you Tea fuddy duddies...

appear to be more typical of Generation Y than James O'Keefe or Carrie Prejean. Every study or survey I've read shows that we are much more tolerant other races/ethnic groups and sexual orientations than many in older generations are.

Yes, placate is a verb... and she used it as one. She said "we can't placate," = "we can't do this action." How did she misuse the language? Not seeing it.

CAN I POINT OUT A COUPLE OF "that's what she saids"?

"is Meghan McCain ever asking for it"

"that stuck in her craw"

sorry, i hope no one gets bent out of shape about these.

Whoa ! Move over Sarah Palin ! On second thought , no , Meghan has too much sense , isn't dumb enough . A progressive Republican ? what the hell is that ?

"McCain, a self-described "progressive Republican,"

Believe it or not,the Conservative Party in Canada used to be called the "Progressive Conservative Party" before Stephen Harper took over.

Meghan needs to loosen up a tad and end her condemnation on us who truly do enjoy smoking something. It's 2010 Meghan, expand thy mind dear, life is far too short for such unknowledgeable comments.

"..and anybody who says different is smoking something."

erm..tea?

totally

it's off to the lsd camp for me for retraining.

"You should never go to war unless its the absolute last circumstance," McCain said.

**********************************************************

I can't be the only one, surely, who finds it a little odd that she would say this -- unless she's hoping that voters have very short memories. Let's remember that Daddy Dear was Mr. Bomb-Bomb-Bomb, Bomb-Bomb Iran...

She's clearly not her dad. And her self-description as a progressive Republican isn't as oxymoronic as it might sound. It was a fairly progressive Republican president who ended slavery, a fairly progressive Republican who established the national parks system, and a fairly progressive Republican who warned against the encroachments of the military-industrial-complex.

...isn't it?

I'm a lifelong Democrat, but I could actually see myself voting for a Republican like Teddy. Eisenhower, I don't know about...if I'd been alive then, I think I'd have been more inclined to vote for Adlai Stevenson because there was a lot of wisdom in what he had to say.

is beautiful and smart. How the hell did she come from John?

... the father? Eh, not so much.

KWillow - your Dad was what in my time was called a Combat Craft Captain. Dangerous job. Especially at Guadalcanal. God bless him. I wish him smooth sailing and a following sea. I agree wtih you about not confronting people about flags. No point in it.

Anyone in command of a vessel on the water is rightfully called captain, no matter their rank or shore side status.

A 'pilot' on the water is a person who has specific knowledge of the waters to be navigated and advises the captain.

And I agree w/ NavSpec, rough job, major kudos.

who is this woman? is she a liberal blogger or feminist? why do we care what she says?

I lived under communists, socialists and capitalists. I am political refugee, highly educated, including history.
I have never, ever in my life seen such a stupidity and lack of basic knowledge of history and total lack of judgment and common sense as I see here. I cannot believe that such a self-conceited, stupid and brainwashed individual as without doubt M. McCain is, deserves such an attention after that shameful and infantile performance, including behavior lacking any trace of grace and vocabulary she certainly should improve and fast. She has no slightest idea what socialism is and that's somewhat embarrassing for someone who tries to address it. I shall not waste my time to analyze this total nonsense. I'm writing this on behalf of those who lost their lives in fight against it. She was right on one point, revolution is done by young people. But it depends what kind of revolution. One can free nation, another could take it to hell. As far as I know all revolutions in socialists countries under communist government were fought by students AGAINST socialism!!! Not for it. So what she tried to push so ardently was total opposite and she should perhaps go home and study history a bit, so next time when she takes her doubtful "stand" at least in the eyes of those who are educated and know the truth she shall not end up as an total idiot. No words for those who stand by her...
