Worst Person in the World indeed: CBS sports analyst fantasizes about soldiers shooting liberal leaders

Last night on his "Worst Person in the World" segment, Keith Olbermann drew our attentions to the ostensibly "humorous" prose stylings of one David Feherty, a CBS golf analyst, in D Magazine recently:
From my own experience visiting troops in the Middle East, I can tell you this, though: despite how the conflict has been portrayed by our glorious media, if you gave any soldier a gun with two bullets in it, and he found himself in an elevator with Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Osama bin Laden, there's a good chance that Nancy Pelosi would get shot twice, and Harry Reid and Osama bin Laden would be strangled to death.
As Olbermann says:
Wow. Manages to threaten by proxy the lives of the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Majority Leader in the Senate, and smear the average soldier as a potential political assassin.
Yes, one wonders if all the right-wingers who got into an uproar over veterans being "smeared" as "potential terrorists" by Homeland Security over that bulletin about right-wing extremism will come running now to decry this actual insult to our nation's soldiers.
We won't be holding our breaths.
Feherty's most recent book, incidentally, is titled An Idiot For All Seasons. Indeed.

David Feherty is undoubtedly a POS.
It hit me at a slightly different angle. So many people wanted to scream that those "un-Amerkun libruls" were saying that our veterans were terrorists - instead of what the report actually said, that terrorist groups are targeting our veterans.
Now, one of those same people is saying that those same veterans would murder in the name of ideology. Apparently, it's not terrorism if it's their ideology.

...being truthful about comments he claims American soldiers made to him, but to repeat the comments, and to indeed make up, or repeat, a joke about it, directly reflects just how Mr. Feherty feels about the issue. Accordingly, he's the guy that should indeed be targeted...by the Feds, by CBS Network and by us. How about a joke to be used at some upcoming golf tournament: Hey Feherty, I've got three bullets and I see a foursome with you, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Osama Bin Ladin, who do I shoot? Let's just say I'd look forward to OBL standing trial.
By the way, just what is this guy's citizenship status? His Wikipedia includes no reference to whether or not he's joined us or is just here to drink whiskey and make bad jokes. It does say that he suffers from depression and alcoholism to 'cover up his inner demons'...guess we know what those are now.

Called CBS in NY 212-975-2900. Got a security guard. Gave me
another number which I didn't write down...doh! Got the
national news desk. They said call my local affiliate. Called KMOV
in St. Louis. Told him what Olbermann said, he didn't believe it.
Told him to go to C&L, which he did, I could hear the audio play over
the phone. He said, and I quote, "Wow!".

David Feherty is really funny and a very entertaining golf analyst, and i would not have expected him to tell a joke thats not only mean-spirited and hateful, but hackneyed (who here hasnt heard a variation of that joke)?

Defamation of the troops.
How or why does a 'golf analyst' visit troops in the Middle East? Why would troops in the Middle East want a visit from a 'golf analyst'? I am no fan of Pelosi and Reid but it does sound like a threat against their lives. Why isn't the DoJ, FBI or some law enforcement agency citing these whack-a-moles for sedition or something? Has the country sunk so low that inciting violence and even murder is acceptable?
Feherty is an interesting case. A self professed narcotic/alcohol addict who has cleaned up his life, his politics are not easy to pigeon hole. He is for the death penalty for pro-lifers and those against gay marriage, (said tongue firmly in cheek). He exadurates a lot in attempt to be funny. He was only reflecting what he felt was the feelings of the troops in Iraq. It was a poor choice of words, something we are all guilty of now and then. I say lighten up, no need to "Malkinize" this episode.

I only played golf in video game format through EA Sports' "Tiger Woods PGA Tour" franchise and it's the only way I became familiar with David Feherty. Not anymore. David's words here sank that ship. Neither he or his employers/contractors at CBS or EA will be enabled and rewarded any further by my wallet or positive word-of-mouth advertising because of his lose lips.
Feherty may be right, but not for the reason that he thinks. If I were soldier I would want Pelosi and Reid "retired" for continuing funding for the illegal war in Iraq that has killed over 300 times the number of people than the attack that was the excuse for starting it.
