CNN's Jim Spellman on the teabaggers: There really is a dark undercurrent running through them
By John Amato Monday Sep 14, 2009 11:00amCNN's Jim Spellman has been following the teabagger express and he's reporting what bloggers and our readers already know. There is a dark fringe, a radical element that makes up the fabric of the teabagger party who believe in wild conspiracy theories and hate Obama because a black man won the election. They can't handle that Bush isn't in the White House. And wasn't it Bush who said that elections have consequences?
Spellman:...we saw handguns from time to time, but running through this subculture that's developed around these tea parties is a bit of a dark undercurrent. The bulk of the people are for lower taxes and less government control, but there really is an element that's go these kind of outlandish conspiracy theories about death camps and about this take over, people comparing President Obama to Hitler. It really is a sizable...It's not just a couple of people around the edges. One of the big questions will be if this movement go forward while maintaining this kind of element on the edges...
At least Spellman is willing to say the truth instead of trying to put a ribbon on it. This isn't something new. It's been around a long, long time, but before the media gave them a platform they only existed in the radical right militia meetings and dark alleys of the wicked. The media is main streaming them into right our homes. They will continue onward unfortunately for America.

I could toldja that!
It is an obvious truth but Spellman did a service by putting it out there on the mainstream. It counters the FOX attempt to view the movement as something positive.
I spent the weekend at the Renaissance Mayflower hotel in DC. The hotel was filled with these folks. It was odd --- these are the types of folks that you would expect to see at Holiday Inn express, but here they were at one of the more upscale hotels in the city. They were pretty pumped up. It's not really a political movement so much as it is a group of angry, fearful people celebrating their right to make noise.
The thread that binds them is the threat of revolution. They want to 'break free' from what they see is a threat to their freedom.
If there was any truth-in-advertising among these crazies, they would all hold-up the same sign: "White Entitlement Now!" Why do white bigots feel it's necessary to beat around the bush(Not W.)?
All that 'Barney Frank guy' needs is a, Goober of Mayberry hat, a pair of greasy overalls and a Chimp mask.

Maybe if they chandged their underwear occasionally?
... that they may as well cut their loses and invest in a new pair already.
they might as well swap 'em for thongs. The butt-string would be thinner, for one thing.
... the teabag clown show is like a nuclear reaction. Once it hits a certain critical mass, it proceeds to an explosion, and nothing less.
I don't know. I am deeply disturbed by what I am seeing lately. There is an insidiousness to this tea-bagger movement that seems to be completely and utterly devoid of decency and conscience. It seems to be bordering on psychopathology, where in the perpetrators not only commit these atrocious acts of decorum but also do not care about the ramifications at all and in fact take pride in these behaviors.
"Bury Obamacare with Kennedy"
individuals carrying guns at political rallies
And it seems to be catching on in places that have for the most part always been above this kind of juvenile antics.
Dick Cheney telling Patrick Leahy to "Go Fuck yourself";
Jim Wilson shouting "You lie!" in the middle of the president's address to Congress;
All these things on top of the willful ignorance exhibited by these same people is a frightening mix that if not stopped will lead to a much more disastrous conclusion. We are seeing a very different and very scary change in the way that we are "allowing" this type of behavior, and our media needs to grow a pair and point this out instead of seemingly "cheering it on."
Our country has become the Jerry Springer Show, with the addition of loaded guns.
This just keeps getting more and more ugly....and in my opinion more and more dangerous.
If only the protests against invading Iraq had gotten the media coverage these tea baggers are getting maybe history would be different today.
Don'tcha know
Dumber people tend to vote Democrat
You betcha.
don't forget all those elitist Democrats making these poor teabagging patriots look bad with their education and stuff!
Thanks ys! I needed a good laugh before heading out to milk the cows. Thinking of that should keep me chuckling for a while.
Try not to milk any bulls
Whether they like it or not, you'll not enjoy the results.
Bill Maher summed-up where we are in just four words.
it just got quiet when Cheney was making them feel satisfied. The way the media have been helping this grow, (and it's everybody, not just Fox) I'm really afraid that it's quietly gotten too big to stop. The teabaggers are just the noisy ones; it's the "brownbaggers" (the militias and Blackwater-types) that are likely to be the foot soldiers. God help us all if one of those guys gets a shot off at Obama, let alone hits him.
Her sign is bizarro world code for, "I poisoned 3 husbands and want to be
raped by a "Goober of Mayberry" in overalls.":

Mr. Obama - Enforce Bush's Patriot Act, Now!
there on Saturday...He said that what was being said on stage was NOT what he was hearing as he walked through the crowd...Spellman is correct..The movement was piggybacked by the crazies and the right wing nut -healthcare un-informed with a sinister air...He was quite taken back by the vitriol and deep belief of the lies of the propaganda machines!
It might help if they read this:
WALL STREET IS BETWEEN YOU AND YOUR DOCTOR NOW.
http://investing.businessweek.com/research/st...
Wall Street Banks hold these percentages of shares in Health Insurance giants and are increasing shares by the tens of millions
United 77.32%
WellPoint 79.04%
Aetna 79.45%
CIGNA Corp. 68.71%
Coventry Health 82.25%
Health Net Inc. 79.37%
Wall Street is the enemy. Can we afford another bailout for these people and their bonus structure!
OK, those figures are terrifying, thanks (I think) for posting that.
Jiminy R. Cricket, we ARE about to throw another supertanker full of taxpayer money at those Wall Street bonus junkies, and it's engineered, once again, by the same @ssholes.
New Zealand here I come...
Alice in Wonderland has a dark undercurrent. These "Teabagger" gatherings are dark all over. It has nothing to do with government spending and taxes-- they had no complaints when Bush was spending us into oblivion, and Obama's probably *lowered* taxes on most of these people.
These are racist idiots and political loons who've been mobilized by big money interests, which have been pushing for fascism in this country since before WW2.

Really, it's long past time to call this what it is: racism and facism - and NOT by Obama! (Don't you love it when Hannityoreillylimpballsbeck try and make it out that it's Obama who is the racist as they gather the segregationists around them and use their ever so unsubltle racial insults and threats?)
We really do have to push back, not violently, but openly and consistently - with facts. I know the facts won't convince the racists, they aren't interested in facts. It's the middle we have to go after.
The freaks are a very small, noisy minority. Like the bullies at your school. There may have been hundreds of kids at your school, but when the bullies get to run roughshod over everyone, it seems like they are the majority. They are not.
They need to be confronted and put in their place whenever they try and take over.
Hannity has been pulling that crap for years. Say it about the other guy, louder and longer. He's a racist pig out for only himself.
..yell louder! Be sure what you yell is the truth but yell louder! It would be nice if the MSM was on our side speaking loudly as well. By "on our side" I mean, TELLING THE TRUTH ABOUT SOME OF THIS PSHHT!
Similar to the Ugly American abroad in a foreign country rule, just speak English LOUDLY.
The result of an ignorant population.
The MSM is just *now* figuring out what we already know? I've been worried about these teabaggers for some time!
they are so desperate, they have to lie about how many showed up for the teabaggins...

I heard Rush say the might have been up to 2 million.
And he's a moran.
I heard this mornin, there were more like 70,000 people.
They can't count anymore than they are capable of critical thinking or deductive reasoning.
In fact, scratch a teabagger, and you'll find a fifth grade education gone to waste.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/...
And I wouldn't scratch a teabagger without a hazmat suit.
about the Dark Underbelly of the Left?
Here is video of myself and lNm training to counter the teabaggers. They don't dare air it.
(Our part starts 43 seconds or so in.)
Link?
LOL!
you'll see why I forgetted. You worked me pretty good. Mama shouln't have gone up side your head so hard.

Scratching a tea bagger would most likely result in a case of cooties and not just any cooties either.
I scratch my teabags all the time.
Civil unrest and all the premeditated bells and whistles that go with it. Blackwater, now XE, is getting ready and I notice Obama has renewed their contracts. Start picking out some cardboard boxes. They are just about to change the standard world currency from US dollars to some Chinese version. The United States is up for sale and most of the people residing in it are expendable and an irritation. If you are unemployed your are useless to the powers that be. It's funny how most of these so called teabaggers are out of work, uneducated, wingnut rednecks.
"Adopt-a-Wingnut" program.
Kind of like the Big Brother/Big Sister program but with goal of gently providing accurate information to woefully misinformed.
Weren't Gremlins from the Kremlin unscrewing the wing-nuts on WWII planes?

"The Southern Manifesto"
[From Congressional Record, 84th Congress Second Session. Vol. 102, part 4 (March 12, 1956). Washington, D.C.: Governmental Printing Office, 1956. 4459-4460.]
Excerpts:
DECLARATION OF CONSTITUTIONAL PRINCIPLES
"The unwarranted decision of the Supreme Court in the public school cases is now bearing the fruit always produced when men substitute naked power for established law.The Founding Fathers gave us a Constitution of checks and balances because they realized the inescapable lesson of history that no man or group of men can be safely entrusted with unlimited power. They framed this Constitution with its provisions for change by amendment in order to secure the fundamentals of government against the dangers of temporary popular passion or the personal predilections of public officeholders. We regard the decisions of the Supreme Court in the school cases as a clear abuse of judicial power. It climaxes a trend in the Federal Judiciary undertaking to legislate, in derogation of the authority of Congress, and to encroach upon the reserved rights of the States and the people..."
"...We decry the Supreme Court's encroachment on the rights reserved to the States and to the people, contrary to established law, and to the Constitution. We commend the motives of those States which have declared the intention to resist forced integration by any lawful means. We appeal to the States and people who are not directly affected by these decisions to consider the constitutional principles involved against the time when they too, on issues vital to them may be the victims of judicial encroachment...."

The sentiments expressed above are the genesis of the right wing's claim of "judicial activism" and their hatred for "liberals."
Yes, the right wing's philosophy have been cloaked in racism and disguised as states rights in their b.s. of giving more power back to the states.
From my cold dead hands, let the southern states secede and let America go back to the original 13 colonies and give the territories seized in America's wars back to Mexico and other nations.
Let America go back to its roots and yes, let's nullify all the inlcusion of the last 37 states as well. We in the northeast are tired of paying more in taxes to support the low-life's in places like Georgia and Alabama.
There are some wealthy people in places like Fairfield County in CT who pay more just in property taxes than whole towns of white people in some southern states and other similar places.
Often those yelling the loudest are full of themselves and do npt pay shitola compared to say what some Hollywood liberals pay in their taxes.
These same gun-totin jackoffs don't make enough money to be yacking about "how much they pay in taxes."
Man, I am so sick of these right wing whiners and right wing male bitches.
Some of these right wing "men" act vey bitchy in my opinion. These right wingers for all their macho bluster are also quite thin-skinned and make no sense at all.
These right wingers talk in riddles and make no sense at all even as to some in the dead-minded media claim logic is being had at any given moment. These right wingers say anything and justify anything at the same time contradicting a point just made. Their "logic" is full of riddles and talking nonsense.
Right wingers have some serious mental problems and some deep "manhood" issues. These right wingers are thin-skineed who hide behind their weapons because they know how inadequate they really are. I have seen much tougher women than many of the "men" who call themselves "conservatives."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Authoritarian_pe...
the bigot who taught Joe Wilson everything he knows about racism.
and sleeping with "the enemy".
These people have always been out there but keeping kinda quiet. Now they talk about the sleeping giant that has awakened. That giant is racism. Beck, Rush and others seem to have given them the go ahead to say all the things they have been feeling for years. They seem to be taunting the President and many of us to do something about it if we don't like what they are saying.
I can't just imagine what would have happened to someone if they had brought a gun to a bush speech, no matter where it was.
In a situation like this that just keeps sparking up, it's almost inevitable that someone will get hurt. I don't know if that will fan the flames or tamp them down.
If Hillary had been elected, I'm sure there would have been some pissing and moaning by the other side, but I can't see that it would have gotten this ugly and this insane. I doubt anyone would have asked to see her birth certificate.
They accused her of murdering Vince Foster when she was First Lady.
I know but that sort of thing was even going on during campaigning and it's so old and foolish I doubt it would get much traction today.
It is a pretty bleak reminder of what these folks pulled during Clinton's presidency.
Oh I remember those years and how ugly it always was, but I never feared for President Clinton's life. I always felt he would pull through all the shit they tried to stack on him and for the most part he did. This seems different some how. This seems more dangerous, more wide spread and more insane, if that's possible.
By nearly every measure.
See Atlantic Monthly:
I posted this on another thread yesterday, but I think it is very important-I would like to see the hard numbers go viral.
Rush Limbaugh was on Crossfire years ago before Nelson Mandela was freed, calling him-Mandela a terrorist just like his pal Dick Cheney had stated before.
When Ted Kennedy died, Dick Cheney said he respected Kennedy's service to America but they agreed on very little politically.
Yes, Ted Kennedy opposed apartheid in South Africa and Dick Cheney not only supported that racist government but belived Mandela should be imprisoned for in Cheney's words: "he-Mandela is a terrorist."
Yes, racism runs right through the red blooded veins of right wingers and their talk show host idiots of the week as well.
HR3200 explicitly states there's no funding for illegal aliens. But conservatives are arguing all over the place that verification of status has been voted down in Congress, yet I cannot seem to find a story on a non-conservative website saying this is the case. Are they making this stuff up too? I just can't seem to find proof of it.
I took a look over at a few right wing blogs & man there are some ignorant people in this country. I see buzz words like socialism & birthing & garbage.
That the Medicare plan will get folded into the public option, is there already a verification process for Medicare?
a proper ID. That whole issue is nothing but a diversionary excuse by the GOP, never mind that there will be plenty of checks regarding proper identification... but the illegals contribution to the overall healthcare cost is pretty much noise. Esp, when compared to the 30+ % overhead added by HMOs for no value added whatsoever.
Maybe we should also be requiring the HMOs to show proper identification? They are clearly a far larger part of the problem.... orders of magnitude really.
when a sizable portion of the country has sublimated their true racially-bigoted beliefs. They latch onto the most inconceivable conspiracies (death camps, forced vaccinations, etc.) because they don't want to be called a racist. (Seriously, who else would want to subvert the Constitution but a foreign-born, Muslim of mixed lineage, with brown skin? *rolling my eyes*)
They need the 'respectable' facade of being an activist, a patriotic protester, an outraged citizen, because in spite of it all, the social stigma of being perceived as a racist is unacceptable to them.
The best we can do is to keep up the pressure. Call it out for what it is! Think twice when you hear the defensive offense of calling YOU a racist for questioning their motives.
In other words any excuse is good enough for them to attack a black president just as long as they can avoid saying they are doing it because he's black. That's my feeling too. They think we can't see through their thin veneer?
A "National Defense Army", eh.
"and hate Obama because a black man won the election. They can't handle that Bush isn't in the White House"
How about a visual on that?
here they would try to hang me.
What these nutters really are is HATRIOTS!!!!!
... has it?
H, P... same difference. Them educrated peeps in the teabagging contingent have more important issues to worry their beautiful minds with....
I used to think that republican men were jealous of Clinton because the ladies liked him and he was attractive. Now I wonder if the republicans are jealous of Obama for the same reasons, plus he is black and still more popular than they are.
however, I always thought it was a bit of a kabuki play on all of us, esp. after seeing Clinton play golf with his BFF Bush Sr, and Mrs. Clinton laughing it up with Murdoch at some fund raisers during the campaign.
At some point, one just doesn't know what to think anymore.
I know Tyler those things bothered me too. With Clinton and Bush Sr. hanging out together I tried to write that off as just two older guys finding they had some things in common. But when Mrs. Clinton met with Murdoch and was yucking it up, I didn't know what to make of that.
I just think these right wing men like to bitch a lot. I think many of them may even feel they were born in the wrong body as well.
These right wing "men" use politics to be the right wing male bitches they are.
Susie Bright has a great take on these right wing "men," in her wonderful and humurous political book, "Sexual State of the Union" written in response to the Report on Pornography put out by Bill Bennett.
At the same time these right wing men say we live in a more "feminized" society and yell about how bad it has become, I swear to you, that I have met more masculine acting women who are equally feminine to the likes of Sean Hannity, Mike Weiner "Savage," Bill O'Reilly, Neal Boortz, Mark Levin and Glenn Beck. In my opinion, some of these so-called "macho" guys on the right act very feminine to me.
I'd like to point out that these Tea Parties actually started back around the time Ron Pauls presidential campaign kicked into high gear. Conservatives like me(and many liberals), who were incredibly disgruntled with Bush, and his warmongering, spending, and burning of the constitution took to the streets and wanted to makes ourselves clear that we wouldn't stand for it. The tea partys were a really positive atmosphere, without hatred, but merely standing for the constitution, and a belief in limited government. I think the Rally for the Republic was a great example of this.
So imagine my disgust 2 years later when I see these same people who were calling me a commie, a traitor, unamerican, terrorist, muslim, now attending these supposed tea partys and blabbering on about the constitution or their country when they spent the last 8 years absolutely revelling in Bush's destruction of the constitution, habeus corpus, and his wars of agression. Not only are they hypocrites, but these stupid republicans have given the rest of us a bad image by turning up to these rallys with their racist, mindless, hateful signs that have nothing to do with protesting government, and more to do with the fear of a black man in the white house.
I don't like what Obama's doing to this country, I didn't like what Bush was doing to this country even more, and I would of attended this rally had the racist, backwards, hatemonger republican, glenn-beck-watching drones not actually been the majority.
So what came first the chicken or the egg?
If you believe in evolution, then the egg had to come first because there were no chickens until humans selectively bred pheasants and quail. ;o}
a biracial child, but I do not believe that his screwing a pheasant had anything to do with the price of eggs.
Those eggs would be really really old and icky by now. Everyone knows that on day 12 god made chickens. He needed a rooster to wake him up every morning since he had so much stuff to keep making for his new science project experiment, earth.
A loony movement? wow.
Its funny how ever since the democrats took the white house you guys sound more and more like the neo-cons you spent 8 years standing against. Guess it was all partisan crap.
Even you must admit some of the 'featured' participants are rather loony. Like Tucker Carlson and Grover Norquist.
Tucker Carlson is a complete loser, but he's nowhere near the likes of the crazed racist beck fan you'd see at a modern tea party event.
Your so-called "tea party" movement is just more of the old 18th-Century laissez faire bullshit..."oo, gimme libertee or gimme that 'ol death". Lunatics, mentally disturbed, sub-educated, call it what you will...the vast majority of those who claim to belong to this movement couldn't think their way out of a paper bag. With a map. AND a GPS device.
Times have changed. Societies are larger, more complex, more interwoven. Economies are no longer local, or even national; they are global. You think you can go back to the "good 'ol days" of pre-Revolutionary America?
Dream on, bub.
The whole "Get with the times" argument was a favourite of the neo-cons. Habeus Corpus is supposedly "outdated" because it didnt cater for the War on Terror, so lets just ignore it and torture captives. After all, these are more "complex" times.
You could use that argument for anything. Free speech is outdated, because it doesn't cater for the politically correct society we live in. The second amendment is outdate because there are too many guns. Right to an attorney and a fair trail is outdated because 9/11 changed everything. Same old story.
This just proves though that there are those of us who actually love the principles that America was founded on (yes, with some imperfections) and those who seem to think progressive means to move outside the bounds of the constitution, not progress within it.. bub.
Your libertarian views are out of touch, and not because of the various "fluff" you just spouted. At the root of the libertarian worldview is that gov't should stay the heck out of every one's lives...not possible today. Not possible back then, either, but that didn't stop people from advocating it.
See, any society of diverse individuals NEEDS a strong government to balance the negative aspects of the human animal: greed, avarice, sloth, cruelty, deception, etc. No free-market can do it; the so-called free-market is run by humans, who are subject to the same "sins" that bedevil the rest of us.
Free speech, habeus corpus, gun ownership, fair trials and representation before the law, all are necessary to the functioning of a healthy, safe, productive society. But unfettered capitalism, free market-ism, de-regulation, and the rescinding of federal taxes are all outdated ideas; once we throw these away and realize that we need taxes, regulations, and a robust structure to our governing system, we'll move beyond the very ills that beset us now.
Unfettered capitalism is a result of government. This same government that protects these criminal CEO's from prosecution, and instead rewards them will trillions in bailouts so they can keep their job and pay themselves a nice fat bonus. A government that takes on lousy corporations debts but doesn't reap any of the profit?
That's not exactly the best sell for government. If government had stepped out the way, maybe these people would have been MORE responsible, realising that they could be held personally responsible for any criminal activities they'd engaged in, and frankly lost everything. Instead they know government will come running with a bailout, because they want to maintain this FAKE economy, thus holding us all hostage.
All government has done is delayed the next great depression and ensured when it arrives, it'll be far worse than anything we've ever seen. Each American family owes a share of over $180,000 debt.
Gosh, isn't big government awesome.
These teabaggers are a danger to our society and should not be ignored.
We need to confront them very very strongly. We need to fight them if we have to. They may only be 20% or so of the country, but they are a very vocal and actionable 20% that is influencing direction and policy.
No one should be afraid to confront these people and stand up for what you believe in.
We need to call them out continually with strong force on everything.
What they do is move the conversation so far to the right that they convince people to move a little in their direction which moves the center to the right.
A very good example is the appointment of Sotomayor. She was called an extremist. She is far from an extremist, but rather more right of center. This may impact the ability to appoint another truly left wing judge. Maybe Obama will think that given all the flack on Sotomayor I will stay with a safe pick next time.
Their calling Obama a socialist is another good example. Obama is not very left at all, he is actully probably more right of center. By calling him a socialist, it forces him to prove he is not a socialist, so there is movement to the right. Or people will freak out more if he truly does make a left leaning decision.
Same thing with healthcare. By calling a public option a government takeover, it makes a really good single payer system seem even more extreme and radical. Even though most conservative corporations like GM or Wal-Mart would actually favor a single-payer system.
They are moving the center to the right with all their extremist talk. Which really says something when the democrats and left just won a major landslide victory to take the country in a new direction.
What we need to is say fuck you to the 20%. We need to appoint a more radical left leaning supreme court judge next time. Say that we want a public option and also say that maybe it just might lead to a full single-payer system down the road. We should say we want a public option with a trigger that may turn the whole system into single payer if it does not work.
We need to say, yes, we like some "socialist" ideas. Whatever, socialism means. Yes there are things we can learn from the rest of the world. And if we want to talk to Venezuela, Iran or Cuba, fuck you we will.
We need to push through a very strong cap & trade bill, because we care about our children and yes there may be a cost, but we think it is worth it.
And if taxes have to go up to pay for the deficit then so be it, as we have to pay for all of these things and the BS that Bush wasted our money on.
etc. etc. etc.
Stop trying to understand these idiots and explain things to them and just grab a strong agenda and move forward. Fuck you and this is what we are doing whether you like it or not. Elections have consequences.
Just since Obama was nominated our country has gone downhill:
A Governor is chosen to run for Vice President despite the shameful parenting failure of an out of wedlock teen daughter.
A Governor issues an executive order for all teen girls to get vaccinated for sexually transmitted diseases.
A Governor abandons his post and flys off to another continent to pursue an extramarital affair.
Members of Congress feel free to have sex with their staff and pay off the family members with additional jobs and money.
Unruly mobs shout down people at public meetings and display weapons.
We have confessed junkies given free reign on radio and television fostering unrest by a wasted generation with too much time on its hands.
Imagine how bad this will get if we let these people get in charge.
Sex is the problem?
Sexual repression or Sex Addiction?
Sex is Sex.....it is only that when politicians talk about it, that conversation about sex diminishes multiple-fold.
Jeebus.
Montco Police Say White Supremacist Jailed for Threatening Attack on Facebook Page
Snip - On the list of stupidest all-time things to post online, a plot to commit mass murder ranks near the top. Yet 22-year-old James Gallagher, of Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania, failed to see the flaw in his plan when, via his Facebook page, he announced his intention to shoot up the entirety of nearby Springfield Township.
Just more proof that you really cannot fix stupid.
Oh yeah?:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0AeSf5QDEmQ
I'm not familiar with that movie. I don't have time right now to watch it. Does the town get shot up or have a similar premise to this PA kook?
To advertise the white supremest movement?
You could put stars and bars all over it and carry guns to your hearts' delight. You can even put a rocket launcher on othe roof!
Why doesn't CNN just do that? They have done it for the insane Tea Baggers, legitimizing their murderous ideas. Why not legitimize all murderous ideas carte blanche?
Oh I forgot. You already did this.
The media can stumble into an actual reporter on average of 1 a week. Last week it was calling the banning of the presidents speech stupid, what happened to real reporters? All they do now is read talking points or look at a web photos. And the “you lie” nut case, I only heard one actually take a stand that this guy was not only out of line but wrong too. No one else ever covered that part, they were too busy with what made him say it, emotion, yea that is it, no more reporting needed unless it is to trout out the bat crazy rightwing that supports him and give them all the airtime they need.
If you dared criticized Bush(on anything) these fuckers would have challenged your patriotism.
Absolute 100% racism...as well as any *********** who comes here to rationalize this sick hate.
{Edited, SiteMonitor}
I would have thought a more apt comparison would be to a nut roll. They're scattered throughout, not just around the edges.
It's not a revolution... It's evolution!
How many Teabagger/Teabirchers protesting believe in evolution, and how many don't? A good sign of where there heart and more importantly... mind is at. (The racism is a byproduct)
like a broken record and a crazy one at that, but I sure hope everyone here is at least thinking about getting ready. The Cons have pushed this country so close to civil war that it seems almost inevitable now. The Cons have been preparing for 30 years. Our side? Not so much.
The Repugs are very sore losers. So sore, that they want EVERYONE to lose. They will drag the entire country down with them. And the rest of the world will point and laugh as we sink.
Oh yeah, look at the crowd. Nothin' but white, white hoods and bald heads and a lot of fat ladies. They are racist. In fact, there's only one black guy in the whole racist group, Clayton somebody, who thinks Flush Limbaugh likes him. I just have to shake my head at that clown.
There is no under current. It's out of the water. The t-bag movement is only racist....ONLY RACIST! Quit acting like it isn't.

CNN still does not get it. Until they break away and start doing their job as reporting and not citing "TALKING POINTS" they will fail and take some good people down with them. Wise up CNN staff. Move on to an employer who will appreciate you.
By calling these teabaggers and protesters crazy we are only alienating them, and making them more determined. We should take a hard look at how Senator Franken handled the group of people who confronted him at his booth at the Minnesota State Fair. It might not work every time, but "a house divided against itself cannot stand," and the American people are divided more now then ever.
These people are being fed information from the right 24/7 and are being scared to death. Being afraid can make people do what they wouldn't ordinary do. I had to quit listening to AirAmerica and Ed Shultz because I went around all day with my stomach in knots. I would go so far to say that I was depressed most of the time also.
Anyway, these protesters are not going to go away after the healthcare bill is signed, they well just keep attacking everything the President and the Democratic Party does, the Republican Party will make sure of that. We Democrats, progressive, and liberals need a game plan and calling our neighbors crazy is not a plan.
Try doing this at a rally where they're all in a group.....won't work.
And don't forget your bullet proof vest.
armed with weapons and stupidity. Not a good mix. You can't reason with these people.
These people are truly pathetic and nothing Obama does or says is going to quelch their rage. These types of people will stay bitter and fearful as the country's demographics change from 75 percent white to less than 50 percent white in the years ahead. They'll cry for their lost special treatment as more people of color enter the workforce and take away jobs and positions that belonged to them in the 1950s and 60s.
Seriously, this is a very dangerous trend.
"Obama lied, Granny died"????
It's even based on "George Bush lied, they died" WHICH ACTUALLY WAS BASED ON THE TRUTH. To the tune of more than 5,000!!!
Propaganda ought to be held to the same standards of TRUTH that advertising is. If nothing is done, we will soon see just how dangerous these lies are to the public health.
5000 AMERICANS died
anywhere from 400,000 to 1.3 MILLION iraqi's have died.

Don't forget Katrina and 9/11.
UNDERCURRENT????!!!!
He said undercurrent right....sorry I had to watch the video again. I know this footage is edited, and liberal media conspiracy memes aside, but I think to support the theory that it's just an undercurrent, they would have included at least one sane person right?
I mean undercurrent implies that it's beneath the surface, or a minority of some kind.
had to watch it again.
the term undercurrent implies that it is beneath the surface or at least a minority. I did not see one sane person. I mean I know they edited it, but they should have had one just as an example of OVERcurrent or top current or whatever.
Ostensibly Left leaning CNN is actually trying to make these people look sane.
:(
I have a friend who's gay, small business owner and registered Republican. He continues to vote Repub
largely because he's bought into the "Democrats are anti-business" rhetoric. Yesterday I told him that if he continue to vote Republican, and they get back in power, he should be aware of what will come in the package: the whole bunch of wacko homophobes, paranoiacs, racists, Fundamentalists and homophobes.
Hope my point got through....
Bush? Am I missing some obscure pop culture reference here? Never heard of the guy.
Well, whatever. Everybody knows human history began on 21-jan-09. Everything you think you remember from before then was just a dream.
Is the woman at the 56 second mark the one of the women on the Franken clip from last week? I could be totally wrong, but if so...it would be a shame for Franken to spent all that time trying to find common ground, only to be called a communist
Sometimes I think people posting comments here are as bad as the people at this rally. The only thing that comes out of the mouths, of some of you, are the same kinds of hateful comments other side throws at us. You think you're right, and they think they are right, but you are all screaming so loudly at each other, you wouldn't see the truth is it hit you between the eyes.
What's the "truth?"
The extremists who now represent the loudest voices of the GOP are direct descendants of the John Birch Society. During the 1950's and early 60's , Birchers ranted and raved and spun conspiracy theories on a monthly basis. The difference being that most Republicans disavowed the Birchers as far right lunatics and they were marginalized. This new wave of crazies has been pandered to and encouraged by talk radio haters, Fox, the NRA and ultra-right wing blog sites. They have been encouraged and accepted by the mainstream GOP which has apparently decided to board the crazy train with them.
and racist. Hearing the lies and misinformation from these people is giving me a headache. And Fox News keeps feeding them and feeding them and feeding them.
Barney Frank must be copied in the style in which we talk to these people. No more respectful dialoge. Time to start saying quite simply - "You people are stupid". No back and forth about what is in the bill, just "you people are stupid". Say it often enough and the truth becomes true, just as a lie become true.
