C&L's Election Night Party: Obama!

I didn't mention that I was throwing a C&L Election Party because I didn't want to jinx Obama's chances (really), but I wanted to spend Tuesday night with bloggers, activists, friends and some of the people that have helped put C&L together. Susan Klos graciously let me use Big Time Pictures for the C&L Election Nite Party.
As I was driving to the studio to set up for the party, I must say that tears welled up in my eyes with joy. It's been a long road to this Nov. 4th. There was no official word yet about the results, but I was so proud of the work that the entire liberal blogosphere offered to help in its own way to try and bring Obama and a host of Congressional candidates a historic victory.
Howie Klein and Digby co-hosted the party and we watched it unfold together. We had about 60-70 people show up and it was a great night to celebrate. Everyone felt that Obama's victory was at hand after PA fell so early. I put on Fox News (everyone booed me) for a minute after OH was called for Obama and Carl Cameron gave a report to Hume. They both seemed like depressed zombies. Later on, Karl Rove was crying that Obama didn't give a clear vision of what changes he was going to bring. Please Karl, just crawl back to the rock you came out of and let this country heal.
As I waited to be interviewed by Abbi Tatton of CNN, word came in that Obama had officially won the election and again tears came pouring down my face with happiness. A sense of relief washed over me because I realized that the Lee Atwater playbook had finally failed the Republicans in a general election and the better person won the presidency and his name is Obama.
Here are some photos from the night:

Good job, now get back to work. New rules now, don't you agree.
Looks like a rough crowd. Hope funs had by all because you deserve it.
Of course Democrats have hotter chicks than Republicans anyway.
Republicans claim that liberal women are ugly(usually in the same breath they whine about liberal Hollywood stars), but everyone there looks pretty good.
Women who are open and easygoing (in other words those I can get along with) usually supersede any issues with their looks.
Wish I had been at that party. Too bad I live on the other side of the world.
Those are some smokin' hot ladies! And very intelligent too I'm sure. Beauty and brains, what a combo.
The brains only intensify the beauty; something you never get with hot repuke chicks.
You keep very good company. It was fantastic to put faces to my favorite bloggers (Digby and D-Day...YOU ROCK!!!! And I love skippy and Mike's Round Up!)
I second that. It is indeed great to see the faces of some of the very best in the blogosphere.
of you guys and gals. A fine looking crew indeed! Thanks, John, and cheers!
I found these tonight. Pretty cool:

I am again proud to be an American!
Great pics. Hope you all had a great time. Invite me next time!
Nice Pics...
Nice to see all of your beautiful faces...
Still going strong after this long and winding road to victory...
That's great----now I hope you all at least take a breather...
And savor this moment!...
This should be here not the music thread!
Say hi to D-day for me, I miss his posts around here!
mrs. skippy was also there, as was mrs. skippy's nephew keith. we all had a great time, topped off by the fact that obama won!
It would have been one hell of a downer party had Obama not won. :-)
Ya, a lynching party!
That's not D-Day at the top, it's Dante aka Hekebolos (and much less importantly it's Max and the MarginALIZED, but i don't care about that!) Great party, John - thanks for having it.
Anyone else ever notice that John has the same expression on his face in every picture. I swear he could be standing in a hurricane and it there would be that happy go lucky expression. LOL!
Four girls for one John?
Lemme know if they need tattoos,... ;)
Girls always have to wait in line for the john.
that I didn't take a lot of pictures. There are plenty more, but I haven't received them yet....
Yeah, god forbid you Jinx Obama:

Wish all C&L readers could have been there.
Beautiful, fucking beautiful!!! I sure wish I could have been there. We had a little celebration here at home. What a happy night it was!!! Thanks for sharing, Amato.
We also had and will have a few parties here in Tokyo.
Quite a few foreigners (non-Americans) like myself came to share their happiness with fellow liberals last Saturday in a crowded restaurant.
Also, Wednesday I was preparing the early afternoon news bulletin for the French service of Radio Japan when I learned Obama had won. When I announced the news live in the studio a few minutes later, I had trouble maintain my composure. People from various nationalities (including Iranian) who knew how I felt came to shake hands and congratulate me.
What a day!
Wow - Amato looks just like the guy who sold us our house alarm.
Does it work?
You're a lawyer, right?
What would happen if someone was charged with robbing your house,
And he asks for you to be his defense?
To spirit away all you conspirators on one swoop. :^)
Congrats to one and all! We Finally did it! Phew!
Now I'll sit back to let myself heal from having people pinch me.
Where's Nicole Belle, dangit? I LOVES me some Nicole -- she totally rocks.
I started working for change after Al Gore was robbed of the Presidency, and began by volunteering at the local Democratic Party HQ. But I really didn't get MAD until my fellow US Navy Vietnam Veteran John Kerry got mocked for his Purple Heart by the Republican PUKES in Boston in 2004. (I served in the Mekong Delta about 3 years after Kerry did, and I can tell you he deserved every medal he got.)
But John Amato, without you and Crooks and Liars, I couldn't have survived the last 4 years. You awoke me from my complacency. John...for all you did...thanks.
