This is great news! Eric Holder will be an excellent AG. He'll have to muster up every talent he has to clean up after the Bush hordes.
Now hit the ground running and open the investigations into the Bush regime immediately.
and don't forget "Plamegate"!!!!!
Ask Questions. Demand Answers.
but will he "just want to look forward"?
I personally hope not...though the right will call it a witch hunt if he goes through with the investigations...but let them, they are irrelevant and lack credibility.
But Rove said he isn't a witch. Isn't that good enough?
Like Rumsfeld said, "You can't prove whether or not someone's a witch."
'e turned me into a newt!
Well, I got better.
more 'off the table'?
Uphold your god damn oath to the constitution. Foreign and Domestic Enemies. Or is this whole thing just a big old fraud.
Among domestic enemies, I count the financial terrorists who have wrecked the U.S. economy in order to feather their own nests. Let's start with guys like AIG's Cassano.
And how about these guys...
The 10 people most reponsible for the recession

It's a long list, actually. We are now seeing the results of by far the largest fraud ever perpetrated.
for blog
Tranche Warfare here. I have read it several times.
The largest fraud ever and we are giving vast amounts of money with little or no accountability and little or nothing to show.
We are heading dangerously close to a total economic collapse, but there will be a huge political imperative to yet again "paper" it over and kick the can down the road.
but I am concerned that he throws out the $600 trillion derivative number, calling them 'credit derivatives' but waits seven pages to differentiate Credit Default Swaps.
He doesn't establish a number on CDS. I doubt anyone knows for sure since they are unregulated but the number has been put at $50-60 trillion.
He waits ten pages to clarify the $600 trillion number as including benign instruments.
Not all derivatives are going bust and not all CDS will be triggered. Here Gretchen Morgenson puts the non offset CDS number at $15 trillion. That would be on top of the broken CDOs and enough to swamp our canoe but not $600 trillion. Bloomberg puts the worldwide derivative market at $683 trillion and I would think this would include every sort of futures contract there is.
This doesn't say that Lieber has got it wrong but he does himself a disservice by not taking greater care with these numbers.
Here is I comment I made about his article BEFORE I read it carefully. I link some other sources on these numbers.
I still think the article tends to be problematic because of this lack of clarity.
Let us hope his assessment of Holder's resume is incorrect as he states it thus:
Let us hope the robber barons ARE startled.
And that the public comes understand what James Lieber meant when he said:
The Government is quietly completing the scam!
That is what I said from day one.
Isn't he the guy who helped deep-six the Glass-Steagal act during the Clinton Administration that lead to deregulating the banks, lending institutions etc.?
And isn't he now back as the head of Obama's economic team?
What gives with this??
here.
Here is comment of yours I replied to.
Here is a another comment.
the first African American anything.
It is good but what does that say?
Let us have the first Attorney General in how long? That does their job, which is to enforce the laws.
I don't care what he looks like, if he enforces the laws against the powerful, he is my hero.
We have a long list of law breakers.
Bushco
Wall Street
War profiteers.
Mr. Holder has his work cut out for him.
Amish Goober?
A level of assholism exists that cannot be reached by the republican party. That is an unexpected yet hugely important theoretical finding.
Any protestant out there familiar with the doctrine of Total Depravity? I think it's been refuted.
Hire real investigators instead of political appointees by the Bush administration.

Am I surprised? Hell, no. If you follow politics at all these are Bush's noisemakers that don't bother reading the contents of bills and their end result for the people . . . these are the noisemakers that "rubber stamp" vote with the attitude "If Bushie wants it we'll vote yes. THESE ARE SHEEPLE!
Now get to work and put the previous administration in priison.
To move forward successfully one must clean up the past . . . there is no choice. If all the wrongs, broken laws, mis-use of power, broken treaties etc. are overlooked it makes this new administration complicit. DIG IN AND MAKE US PROUD TO BE AMERICANS AGAIN!
