J.D. Vance hasn't76 quite reached the Donald Trump level of the Liars League, but he’s certainly making a strong effort.
On Friday, Vance tried to hoodwink Americans about the crippling inflation his administration has thrust on so many of us.
“We’ve made a lot of progress. Inflation is way lower today than it was when we took office,” he lied. “It’s way lower today than it was at the peak of the Biden administration.”
Reality check: Not only has the inflation rate risen under Trump, but so has the more important consumer price index. It’s because of “businessman” Trump, his tariffs, and his stupid war with Iran.
Vance made his comments in Ohio, where 76% of likely voters recently rated the economy as fair or poor,
“There’s still a lot of work to do,” Vance acknowledged. But the only “work” on the horizon is more of the same. There has been no mention of ending the Trump tariffs or his no-end-in-sight Iran war. Instead, we’ve gotten a few ineffective tweaks designed to make President Billionaire look like he cares. “From beef to diesel, White House efforts to bring down prices — the top concern among midterm voters — have failed so far to pan out,” The Washington Post reported on September 28.
The real strategy seems to be persuading voters not to trust their own wallets. “Even as Trump takes short-term measures to try to bring down prices, he’s also telling his supporters that all is well with the economy,” The Post pointed out in a separate article. Naturally, Trump's officials are parroting the same BS to us, the people who pay their salaries.
“What I’d ask the American people, the people of Ohio is, do you want to double down on the policies that have the ship moving in the right direction?” Vance continued, “or do you want to go back to the policies that had the worst inflation prices in 50 years in the United States of America?”
If there was any real plan to “move the ship in the right direction,” Trump and his White House puppets would be touting it. Instead, they are trying to put lipstick on the pig of the economic harm they have already done, with no hint of a change in course, and gaslighting us into thinking it’s a pretty picture.
