Raw Story reporter Matt Laslo recently got quite an admission from Alabama Senator and gubernatorial candidate Tommy Tuberville.
“I read very little," Tuberville said. "I want my own opinion, not somebody else's."
Tuberville soon proved he is as ignorant as he claimed. Asked about reporting that Vice President J.D. Vance was the leaker for the story that got Politico banned from the White House, Tuberville seemed to know nothing about Donald Trump’s latest and most consequential assault on the First Amendment.
"Did they ban Politico, too?" Tuberville reportedly asked Raw Story. "Who knows? I mean, hey, I've learned up here about 10 percent of it is fact. The other [90 percent] is not even close to reality. You know that. Everybody tries to get out there and make a name."
He also insisted, “There's no way Vance would do that.”
I don’t think you have to be much of a reader to know that’s exactly the kind of thing Vance would do. But the point is there’s a little thing called the U.S. Constitution that Tuberville swore to uphold and, presumably, to know its contents. Especially that part about the separation of powers and the Senate acting as a check on the executive branch.
Apparently, Tuberville thinks the Constitution counts for nothing next to his own uneducated opinion, too. Raw Story also asked him about the alarming report that a Kremlin-connected Russian oligarch financed Donald Trump Jr.’s wedding party for hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Tuberville could not have cared less. “I didn't see that," Tuberville responded. "I don't get into all that … I mean, no reason to talk about anything you don't know anything about.”
So where did Tuberville get his notion that furries have taken over airports?
