Huh? Hirsh seems confused about who has the Clinton obsession
What is Michael Hirsh drinking?
Writes Michael Hirsh:
For the last few days, the blogosphere has been ablaze with speculation about the kind of damage Hillary Clinton could do to the Obama presidency if she becomes secretary of state.
Of course, for the last few days there's been comparatively little speculation within the blogosphere about what kind of "damage" Hillary Clinton could to the Obama presidency. It's been the mainstream media that's played up the "damage" angle and been childishly obsessed with pushing the "soap opera" angle of the story.
For the most part, lib bloggers have been treating the story seriously, like adults. We're still waiting for the Beltway pundits to catch up.
We've been writing much more about Lieberman if he actually bothered to read more than one blog. And if Hirsh wants to talk about damage being done, how about he take a good hard look at what the traditional media has done to our country?
As noted, we have no particular view on Hillary Clinton as Sec of State. But we do have a reaction to the pundit corps’ renewed Clinton/Gore-loathing: Things have reached the point where these sad life-forms are “objectively anti-American.” The nation is in a set of major messes; a new president is trying to pick the people he thinks will serve him best in a difficult time. But so what? Even in such a perilous time, the loonier members of the Dowd-Matthews axis can’t quit their Clinton-loathing. Nothing will keep them from this vast pleasure, the one pleasure of their sad lives.
It’s almost like they loathe the country itself. In the past, they’ve done astounding harm to that country through their aggressive Clinton/Gore-trashing -- especially when they worked so hard to put George Bush where he is. But even now, they refuse to abandon their childish games. Nothing will ever make them stop. They care about little else.
They did their very best to elect George Bush in 2000 and it took a stolen election to get it done. But then again, this is the traditional media we're talking about.

But I have seen the TPM, HP, CNN, MSNBC, the usual Clinton haters, still attacking the Clintons.
Cons are taking their "thumpin" as well as "progressives" taking the return of the Clinton team.
Sore losers and sore winners.
Geez.
With everything that is going on, Hillary and Bill are the headline news. Dow's dropping, automakers dying, middle class barely surviving. And we are subjected to this onslaught of crap. Jeez!
I thought (certain right-wing denizens of) the blogosphere thought Obama made a big mistake by picking Biden instead of Clinton??? Now they think she'll do damage as "mere" Sec. of State? The Neocon rollercoaster is about to leap off its tracks, or jump the shark, or explode or something. They're nutz. They need to get a grip, if it's not too late for that.
...frame it one way when either the opposite is true or some other completely unrelated version of the story is true. Usually, their motivation is simple: status-quo. Check my take on how the media tries to constantly tie the market drop to baillouts or lackthereof...
Main stream media in general, and the "news" in particular, have dumbed down over the years so much that they can no longer remember how to deliver straight news. Added to the mix is the celebrity mania and gossip columnist type of reporting.
Don't know how much soap it sells, but the idiots in Podunk don't buy soap but they sure think the news should be entertaining.
Clinton is treated as a celebrity and therefore everything Clinton is news. And with news on 24/7 what they don't know they make up.
The media is trying to create drama like some sort of tv show. They have entertainment mixed in with "news" right now because no white woman is missing and no starlet is doing anything worth mentioning.
The only thing that I question is why someone like Pat Buchanan is championing Hillary for SOS. I've heard other repubs make similar statements. I don't think they are doing this because they deeply believe in her capabilities, so why are they doing it?
Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.
imho, most of the time people like Buchanan just want to stay "viable" and so talk about the same thing everyone else is talking about just to stay in the public eye. Mostly, tv "news" is one subject talked about to death. A herd mentality sets in and I swear, if a comet hit earth they would continue to talk about Clinton because everyone else is. I don't know, guess I'm not making much sense myself.
I remember I guess it was last week, when the all the "news" folks were all a buzz about the appointment of Rahm Emmanuel -
every single stinkin' news anchor and analyst, on every station and cable outlet, from sun-up to day's end, said exectly the same thing about him >>>> "he knows how Washington works, he gets things done, but he's known to have Sharp Elbows!!"
That's why I generally tun off the TV and come here - I still get the news, better analysis (well, sometimes) and have fun reading/writing comments at the same time.

But is it the right move? Personally, I'd rather see her challenge Harry Reid. I'd like to see anyone challenge Harry Reid.
He is just saying this crap so he can see his name in print on Crooks and Liars.
All MSM employees: REMINDER! 'Slant the news to the right or lose your jobs. Selling ADVERTISING is all we care about. We don't care how you do it.
and the MSM willingly complies with mindless fluff and gossip designed to distract the hoipolloi from focussing on the real issues.
When you read through the story, he talks about the "blogosphere," and then goes on to quote the following well known bloggers: "...Scott Helman of The Boston Globe...", Dick Morris, and George Stephanopolous.
What a complete joke of journalism that is. When this guy gets to hell, Mencken will piss on him from on high.
Yes,kind'a like the GOP throwing around all these "anti-American" smears while at the same time despising everything that makes America a Democracy. They tend to *cOuGh* um.."project" just a smidge.

This is truth, to me. "

I don't know what else to say. I have written about excess Clinton bashing throughout this election. The influence by the media was questionably illegal. Every since the primaries, lead by MSNBC, the MSM attacked Hillary Clinton with a daily drum beat of bashing that took the form of a additional campaign opponent. This broke Clinton even though she raised a record amount of funds throughout her campaign.
I look at the above as facts, not speculation, and as it unfolded, it was attributed to bad campaigning by the same media commentators trashing her on a daily bases. Smartly, the media pulled this shit during the Democratic primaries to take advantage of the natural campaign wedge already being played out by the process of picking a candidate to represent their Party. Clearly, Clinton had to fight Barack Obama and the MSM. Both had a endless flow of cash Clinton would never work in her favor. Added to that was the fact Obama was in a unique form of realizing his true potential. The deck was truly not in her favor, yet the stuff from the MSM should not of been there in the amount it was.
It was truly nice to see John Amato wrote about this. Even though the Clintons did all they could to get Obama elected, there are strong anti Clinton feelings coming from Democrats who are unable to see any good in Clintons. As a initial Clinton supporter, the Clintons made it easy for me to be a number one Obama supporter. As I write, I am listening to MSNBC bashing her by framing her bid to be Secretary of State by creating phony stories about her not wanting the job or saying Obama was forced to give it to her. Every time her name is in the news, the commentators at MSNBC go crazy with bashing everything Clinton. Frankly, I am tired of it.
