[Excerpted from Millions.]

I knew this was going to come out of Utah as soon as I heard the announcement that Jon Huntsman was going to China. I emailed Howie about it.

Ben Smith:

This, from the blog of a Utah State Rep. Craig Frank, may not be quite what Huntsman and Obama were thinking:

This is a big deal for the Governor, Utah, the United States, and…the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS).

Although the LDS church’s missionary program has an ecclesiastical presence throughout many parts of the world, the countries with the largest population bases (China and India) are not currently open to the church’s missionary efforts. Huntsman served his LDS mission as a 19 year old young man in the Taiwan Taipei Mission in the early 1980’s. He has since been back to the Far East on a number of occasions. Huntsman not only takes to China his political acumen but also a lifetime of membership in the LDS church. This should bode well for the LDS church’s mission to spread the gospel throughout the world, since all members of the LDS faith are under divine mandate to…”Go ye therefore, and teach all nations…” (Matt 28:19)

Huntsman’s ambassadorship not only puts him in an excellent position to address US-China relations, it puts him in an even better position to teach the gospel…in Mandarin.

The blog has since been scrubbed, GOP 12 reports, but it lives on on Google.

Is it country first or the LDS for Jon? Maybe Huntsman will receive a special eternal gift if he converts at least fifty people while being in China per year. You never know.

I don't get it. Why don't they just convert all the Chicoms after they've died?

Cheney only shot a buddy in the face. Why does it seem like Obama is determined to repeatedly shoot himself in the foot?

Huntsman is a good guy...I actually live in Utah and all progressives here are lamenting the fact that Huntsman is leaving. On the other hand, all Republicans are ecstatic.

Huntsman is Republican in name only...He eased the liquor laws in Utah, he sought protections for Gays in UT, he accepted the bailout funds when all other republicans were refusing them.

He waited till his second term, and started dropping bombshells on republicans, and they are so mad at him right now, and happy to get rid of him.

This is the reason he is not seeking a third term....the republicans in Utah won't allow him to run for a third term. They'll pull the same stunt on him that they pulled on Specter

thanks.

[Comment Deleted By Administration For Violation Of Terms Of Service]

Obama should be responsible not just for what Reverend Wright said but what every member of the church said? Is the problem his appointment of a Republican Governor as ambassador? Is the problem his appointment of a Mormon?

No

So what if he is a Mormon? He's not going to be out converting Chinese citizens. I'm not a fan of the LDS church at all. As a matter of fact Glen Beck is the typical Mormon douche bag. So there you go.

or that idiots in the Utah Legislature who are Mormon are implying action on his behalf?

)O(

I was raised a Mormon.

Now I'm Wiccae/Discordian/Church of the Sub-Genius.

But I want to be initiated Rastafarian.

LOL

Me Too!

)O(

You're a Mormon?

if beck is typical, then that makes
all lds members misogynists, liars and
assholes.

still a lying sack of dog mess.

I think this means that some dumb ass state representative (Craig Frank) thinks this is a great opportunity to spread his church's message on the country's expense report. He apparently has no clue regarding the separation of church and state and has no problem blogging about it to the rest of the world.

I don't see where any blame was directed at Obama or Huntsman.

immediately above it. Sorry.

Maybe its in the part where John Amato writes:

Is it country first or the LDS for Jon? Maybe Huntsman will receive a special eternal gift if he converts at least fifty people while being in China per year. You never know.

It just went down for a little while on his blogs most popular day because he forgot to pay the bills. Specifically the bill for his domain name I think. I live in Utah County, not in his district, but right next to it, and occasional comment on his blog.

Hey

I grew up in Carbon County.

There is only one thing I hate more than the Dutch........and that's a Mormon.

above.

I've been here a long time. Used to go by BrokenArrow until someone else claimed, but never used that handle.

I object to your comment. First, the word hate is toxic, period. Just saying, if this is an attempt at humor, it's not working for me, and I'm probably not alone on that call.

I don't think he REALLY hates the Dutch. ;)

)O(

Luddite.

But I have never destroyed any labor saving devices!

)O(

You must've had a lot of painful deliveries than.

one time, I ate a 5lb block of velveeta...and lemme tell ya...droppin the kids off at the pool was quite painful indeed!
Left the paint peelin too.
oh yeah.

You don't understand .......I hate the Dutch.

(Get a sense of humor.)

However, Dominique van Hulst is yummy.

I think its Austin Powers 3, the one with Beyonce.

.....@ Billy

)O(

i hate belgians. how bout you?

not to be bigoted and racist, I hate everyone equally.

Equal opportunity hater.

I do try to avoid the word "hate" in my posts. It's extremely violent and telling of your true mind (unless joking, but still.) I truly don't hate anyone. Some people piss me off, but I don't hate them. I disagree with them, would like to see them in court, I'd like to see them reprimanded, but I don't hate them. (for the record)

)O(
)O(

Are there ANY goddamn politicians that don't have the stench of religion all over them?
I'm fuckin sick of these bible thumpin assholes spreadin their cult on my dime.
WTF?!

In God We Trust.

Ingot Wet Rust.

You have a dime? Well, aren't you Mr. Big Shot.

Fancy Pants.

braggin!
I'm sure other people here have shiny dimes too!

... several silver dimes. Not sure if they have IGWT on 'em.

The NEW MR. Fancypants!
LOL!

we sustituted worhipful words instead.

Canadian dimes say, "Whatever, eh." Right under the Queen.

...all cut from the same cloth. All about greed - for wealth, but mostly for Control.

The religionistas use the pols and the pols use the religionistas to keep the peons in their place. Who has more control than Gawd?....for Gawd's sake? And S/He never seems to mind being used for any nefarious purpose....under gawd.

)O(

Do priets prattle?

and they also pontificate and prevaricate!!

and worst of all, proselytize.

Is that what they call molestation these days?

you learn new vocabulary every day if you try hard.

)O(

;)

that's a given.
But anyone else?

D - CA

Never heard of him...I'll have to check him out.

You are correct. The stench of religion is ofter removed by UFO sightings mixed with the odor of Shirley McClain's dog fur laden
clothing.

HA!

That's funny!

who shops at the same grocery store in Santa Fe with Irma.

)O(

I thought she accepted cash only.

with religion? Isn't that what the liberals and the ACLU are for? Freedom of religion or lack of? Or only for the religions or lack of that you approve of?

Religion IMHO, is the WORST thing humans ever came up with.
Religious people, especially from the proselytizing brands of religion can't seem to leave people alone.
They constantly meddle in politics and peoples personal lives and they haven't the right.
And personally, I think anyone that needs religion is weak minded, and does not have a fully developed brain. I mean, really think about any religion, and the worship of any deity objectively, and you might come to the same conclusion as myself...belief in a deity is primitive.

when I say your position on religion does not need clarifying, I know if from some of your previous posts. Not saying your right or wrong, but what gives you the right to impose your beliefs on others? Or to judge them by their beliefs?

And non religious people meddle in politics and peoples lives as much as the religious. In a local park in my home town there was a cross with a eternal flame dedicated to the fallen of ww1 and 2, paid for by private donations with a trust fund to pay for the flame. Atheists sued the town with the help of the ACLU and rather then spend the money the town backed down and it was removed. This memorial had been standing for 40 years. How did it effect the atheists? It didn't. They felt it was unfair. Honestly give me a friggen break, it was a memorial to honor the fallen veterans the majority of which were christian, if they wanted to add a star of david or other religious or non religious symbol to the display at their expense, fine but why sue to take down the memorial?

We all judge people by their beliefs, all the time. Think about it.

Religion has no place in the town square. It is private and should stay private. I do object to it being 'in my face'. The answer is to not do it. Keep it private. They can re-erect that cross in a church yard. Why did they insist the cross must be displayed in public?

people by their actions, and honestly how does a cross that has been their for 35-40 years honoring our fallen soldiers effect you. You are not forced to look, or pray, its just there, if you wanted to put a non-religious icon next to it I wouldn't have a problem, but why force that one to be taken down? Same with the ACLU filing lawsuits about the 10 commandments on a courthouse wall that has been there for who knows how long, who does it honestly hurt? Suing hurts more people, it takes taxpayer money to defend the lawsuit, or if they choose not to fight it, it still takes taxpayer money to remove and repair where it was.

I'm trying to even the playing field. I think all organized religion should be banned, but that's just me...it will never happen, but that's how strongly I'm against it.
Organized religion in this country is far to cozy with politics, and vice versa.
I to judge people by their actions TJBB...and most religious people I know act like total hypocrites.
When a religious group starts trying to involve themselves in my personal life, by swaying politicians to attempt to legislate morality, that makes me see red.
I know where the fuckin churches are, if I wanna go and give some charlatan my hard earned money....and if I wanna find god, I don't need to go to church.
Religion is a racket.
Biggest scam in the history of humanity.
That said...I think the ACLU should not have made them take that cross down.
But us atheists/agnostics get pissed when religious folks ASSUME that everyone believes as they do, and condemn them if they don't. They don't consider other peoples belief or lack thereof, and get defensive when non-believers stand up for their rights.

with you on some points, in theory at least. And I'm not trying to be a smart ass but how do justify these two comments taken together?

"I think all organized religion should be banned, but that's just me"
"But us atheists/agnostics get pissed when religious folks ASSUME that everyone believes as they do, and condemn them if they don't. They don't consider other peoples belief or lack thereof, and get defensive when non-believers stand up for their rights."

You believe that organized religion should be banned, but don't want others beliefs to infringe on yours. And you think that religious people are hypocrites? Let me change that last quote around a bit for you, and tell me what you think of it.

"But us religious folks get pissed when atheists/agnostics ASSUME that everyone believes as they do, and condemn them if they don't. They don't consider other peoples belief, and get defensive when believers stand up for their rights."

On my list of things driving me crazy today, this guy's religion is not one of them.

)O(

Then they're not trying hard enough.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OyoJ-S7SEVo

This is hard enough for me.

Lets get physical.

By the way, Ys, the red petals and chubbiness made that presentation quite erotic for me.

that is getting hard but....

Along with the 'Except For' version of the Bible, which preaches Christ's message of love and peace except for terrorists, I mean except for terrorists and gays, oops, except for terrorists, gays, liberals and ...

... we now have the 'Except For' version of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Which puts forth the principles of freedom of religion except for any religion other than Jeebus Krikey's Old-Time Revival.

Sheesh.

I liked it better when Congresscritters were drunkards and adulterers.

Sorry I missed that change. Must have been quite a display of DT's.

... Christian hypocrites.

)O(

Speaking of pedophilia

Are there priests who can't cant?

Oh,

they can cant alright, and they can decant, too!! But I wouldn't be supping from that common cup....these days.

)O(

Uh neither. It's about making money. Doesn't matter if you can afford it or not "gimme your money and ye shall be saved."

is a very poor money manager, he's constantly broke...yet people continue to give him/her/it/them money.

for the Lord . .while I live in my 15,000 sq ft Utah Mansion.

Praise the Lord!!!!!!!!!

huntsman is somewhat interesting. he's the governor of a very red state. he has a high approval rating yet he's a moderate. from what i understand he's a breath of fresh air for democrats that live in utah. he will be missed by democrats of that state. i don't know much about the mormon church and i'm not really very interested. i've been around and met some mormons since moving out west. this is a broad brush statement but they seem only interested in themselves/their own.

I grew up in northern Arizona and they grow them very conservative there. We had some of our fellow Mormon classmates refuse to come to high school reunions because OMG people were drinking liquor there. One of my friends told me a story about her brother, who moved his family to Utah for a job. The Mormon soccer moms would let his son car pool with them until found out he wasn't Mormon and wasn't going to become Mormon. Don't even get me started on their policy toward brown/black people. The day they actually place a church elder that's a woman or a black/brown person then they might actually have credibility.

Having said all of that, I have a very dear friend who is a very good Mormon, we went to nursing school together. He's a great guy who counts as his friends people like me and other assorted heathens like new-age healers, etc. He's pretty open to other's views, but I never could get him to drink a coffee!!!

)O(

I volunteer to be practiced on by the Maternity Nursing School!

pregnant women or laboring women, I would probably yell at them and it would be too tense, but I'll see what I can do for you.

Surely you can find video of the Maternity Nursing School??

)O(

Yeah but they all look like cows

And Amy Winehouse.

then I shalt expand my empire to include a Yacht and second home on Golf Course.

Praise the Lord!

to its original condition. Unless I've got a weird cache issue going on here, simply going to the front page of www.underthedome.org will allow you to scroll down and read the exact same entry as in the Google cache version.

but of the three blondes, I am still partial to the chubby one with the petals. Wendy O. went on to give birth to the power forward for the Denver Nuggets and I don't mind ladies with sex toys, but violins are a bit much and the guy taking the fox off to do the nasty was more offensive than Uncle Ernie.

This months eternal gift: A Toaster oven!

that's the same gift for converting people to "teh gay"

stay with it mitt....

or Temple Briefs?

out in the rural areas of china,
those holy shorts are going to be very
inconvenient standing over an open hole
in those public free-standing toilets.

hard to decide which hand to use for those
more intimate moments over the hole

)O(

Temple thongs?

I'm sure everyone involved understands, China would send him packing in a Peking minute if he tried proselytizing.

But in all seriousness shouldn't we wait to see if he does any missionary work while serving as ambassador?

If he serves his post and doesn't get his state duties crossed with his religious duties, I see no problem.

)O(

Spreading the gospel in Mandarin?

And isn't a mandarin an orange?

And isn't an orange a fruit?

So he's a fruity Mormon?

)O(

And if your cross (so to speak) a Canadian Mandarin Duck with a Mandarin Orange, you'll have Duck A'La Orange.

does this mean they'll reel you back in?

)O(

You know what the answer to that is, John. Having descended from founding Mormons, I know that the crazy resides at the core of their very being...

)O(

How else can you explain me?

but Mormons are very far from having a monopoly on crazy-core.

It's a two-state race between Minnesota and South Carolina for having a monopoly on crazy.

Funny!

Hi God,

Sorry to bother you, but could you have a word with your followers?

Thanks.

PS

If you could take a harder line on Satan worshipers like Darth Cheney, that would be great too.

That would too obvious. Cheney belongs to a death cult, like Shiva or possibly Ares.

Satanism is about living your life to the fullest without remorse or hindrance. A true Satanist would never allow himself to be hidden in a bunker.

I admit this is not my area of expertise. I'm also not very knowledgeable on the details of the various sky fairies.

John,

I can understand having issues with the church of LDS right now considering Prop 8, but this isn't Huntsman with whom you have a beef. This Frank guy is imposing his ideas on Huntsman (and Obama) - and he's a wack-job, so this isn't really a surprise.

Lovely.

The Christian converts in Korea, are total fucking whackjobs. They're frightening. (see post below)

Every time I see Church os LDS, I think Church of LSD (which seems pretty cool), and then that's all I can think about, until I realize it's the Mormons.

I think ambassadors are not sent abroad to proselytize. And, if that's what he's planning to do, he shouldn't go. That does not represent the USA well, his FIRST duty.

These nutjobs roam the streets of Seoul 24/7. I don't know if they're LSDers, but they all wear black pants and white shirts, and look very dorky. I do know they are American missionaries; tons of 'em here.

believing it's both their right as Christians and obligation to God to badger non-Evangelicals in every sector of society and government, now the Mormons are getting in on the game... *sigh*

I'm a former Mormon,a Utahn, a liberal, and a fan of Jon Huntsman. I would rather have a more progressive governor, but in comparison to the primates we have in our legislature, Huntsman is a gift. He is a fair-minded, pragmatic governor. He understands the world well, and I think he respects people different from himself (he was essential in reforming Utah's crazy liquor laws--which still need reforming.)

Having said that, the Mormons who write these types of things do not realize how stupid they sound, and how badly they are marginalizing themselves and hurting their own cause. I got to the point to where I couldn't stand being around my own kind, and ended up having to leave--and I'm glad that I did.
