It's time for a DADT Blog Swarm
I'm in. It's time that DADT is abolished for good.
Besides us, these blogs are also participating: Pam Spaulding, Pam's House Blend, Michelangelo Signorile, Sirius OutQ & the Gist, Markos Moulitsas, DailyKos. Andy Towle, TowleRoad, Joe Jervis, Joe My God, Bil Browning & Phil Reese, Bilerico, Taylor Marsh, TaylorMarsh.com, David Mixner, DavidMixner.com, and Dan Savage, Slog
We need leadership from the White House to get the repeal of DADT. The President can include repeal language in the Defense budget he sends to Capitol Hill. There's still time for that. In addition, Servicemembers United have crafted a repeal plan that would meet the needs of all the key players. If Obama wants the repeal in his budget, the Senate Armed Services Chair, Carl Levin, can include the language in his Committee's Defense Authorization bill. That way, the repeal can be moved in a way that doesn't require overcoming a 60-vote filibuster. It can be done. It should be done.

Who proceeded to persecute Clinton as if he were gay the remainder of his Presidency.

People should not have to lie about who they are to defend their country. It's all just an excuse to allow bigotry and hate. A gay American can die in service to their country the same way a straight soldier can. And I hope the gay soldier's spouse receives the same benefits and honor given to the spouse of a straight soldier who gave their life. Their sexual preference has nothing to do with their job.
I agree with equal rights for everyone.
Accept people for what they are.
Ty for the link

It's NOT a "preference". That implies a choice. STOP USING THAT RW MEME!
My brother is gay so stuff the right wing meme… and chill the f**** out I am not public enemy number 1.
Orientation better??? Ok
Straight, gay, bi, transgender, whatever…
We are all able to make choices and decide who or whom we want in our lives as friends, partners or just mutual acquaintances.
Live & let live….

Then why to you use the offensive term? And stuff yourself, as I am gay, my brother too. It is NOT a cbhoice, never was, never will be. So stuff your terminolgy and grow the eff up.
I agree that it isn't a 'choice' in the purest sense of the meaning. However, when arguing the matter with other less enlightened and they throw out the 'choice' card, I reply with "Who cares if it's merely a choice?"
Freedom and liberty is about making your own choices and living, more or less, as one desires. It should not matter one bit if one 'chooses' to behave as a homosexual or manifests the real deal. The possible or real ulterior motives, socialization, psychology, and biology are completely irrelevant to the argument of LGBT rights.
sign an executive order
the dems are gonna lose congress next election no matter what happens
Agreed, I say go for broke, repeal DADT, pass universal single payer healthcare, ram the whole "commie pinko socialist" liberal agenda down their throats and then let the thugs have to spend there terms trying to unravel it all.
it's beyond time.
Some day, we'll look back with astonishment that any form of a communication gap was tolerated in the military:
DADT
(satire)
The reason DADT will NEVER be repealed is because the upper and middle management in the military are either Christian Fundamentalists themselves or worry that many 'good' Christian Americans might avoid military service knowing that gays and lesbians can openly serve.
Which leads to the obvious question: Do Fundamentalist Christians serve in the military to defend our borders or the Bible?
