Jeb Bush will not run for Senate
By John Amato Tuesday Jan 06, 2009 5:00pmFormer Florida Gov. Jeb Bush will not run for the open Senate seat of Sen. Mel Martinez, he announced in a statement released moments ago.
"After thoughtful consideration, I have decided not to run for the United States Senate in 2010," said Bush. "While the opportunity to serve my state and country during these turbulent and dynamic times is compelling, now is not the right time to return to elected office."
Bush's decision robs Republicans of a top-tier recruit who would have immediately been favored to hold Martinez's seat. Without Bush in the race, Republicans are almost certain to play host to a crowded and competitive primary.
The announcement comes after 48 hours of rampant rumors among the Florida political community that Bush had decided not to make the race.
Finally a decision we can all back from the Bush family tree.

By not running for the Senate, Jebby has pretty much also taken 2012 off the table, as he will have not held public office in over 6 years by then.
I think that makes 2016 as equally unlikely. :)
I wish that were true, but keep in mind that the Chimp won his 2nd term.....I still cannot figure that one out. If repugs would vote for GW, first and second times, I think they would vote for Jeb, even after 6 years out of office (and if he changes his name!)

My bet is that he has accepted that because of W's maladministration and because the history of the Bush Crime Family is so well know now, thanks to the intertubes, that hopes for Bush political dynasty have come to an end. There aren't going to be anymore Bushes in political office, including their offerings for the upcoming generation, Pierce. They are going to continue, instead, parasitizing the Nation from the background, as part of a shadow government of self-appointed "elites". Or so they hope.
There's more money to me made in a shady deal elsewhere you can be sure.

Gossip I got from an addict's spouse is that Rep Connie Mack is another heroinista or has them in the close family, and he wants Jeb's seat. Are Floridians mentally capable of finding, funding and enfranchising any power bloc or lobby other than mind-deadening amateur pharmaceuticals?
