Michael Steele's buffoonery knows no bounds, but I wonder if he's telling the truth this time or just trying to play the race card to save his job.

Republican National Committee (RNC) chairman Michael Steele, who is known for making controversial statements, on Sunday said that white Republicans are afraid of him.

Steele also took aim at some in his own party last week as well, saying that he would "come after" centrist Republicans who support healthcare reform.

The Republican chairman appeared on NewsOne's "Washington Watch" this weekend, a new Sunday political talk show aimed at a black audience. The host, Roland Martin, asked Steele how Republicans could reach out to black voters. Steele responded by talking about issues such as education, small business, jobs and the economy, The rest is in a partial transcript:

MARTIN: But your candidates got to talk to them. One of the criticisms I've always had is Republicans -- white Republicans -- have been scared of black folks.

STEELE: You're absolutely right. I mean I've been in the room and they've been scared of me. I'm like, "I'm on your side" and so I can imagine going out there and talking to someone like you, you know, [say] "I'll listen." And they're like "Well." Let me tell you. You saw in Christie and you saw in McDonnell a door open because they went in and engaged. McDonnell was very deliberate about spending...

MARTIN: Right.

STEELE: I mean, Sheila Johnson was on his team. I mean, that was a big deal. That's because he engaged her and she helped navigate him through that relationship.

Where are the black Congress members?

Michael Steele is saying that because of the color of his skin, his fellow Republicans are afraid of him. He is proving the point that we've been making for a long time. When you look at tea parties, they are predominantly white folks shouting down Obama's race and religion.

If the party Establishment is afraid of Steele, how is there any room for race relations to improve in this country---ever? This poll -- showing that Americans don't think Obama has improved race relations in the country -- first of all makes no sense: How is President Obama supposed to improve race relations when he has white supremacists, birthers, Oathers and militia members filling up the ranks the tea party brigades that are out there in full view of the American people and are smearing non-whites on a consistent basis? How is the president supposed to suddenly ease racial tensions when Republicans and mouthpieces like Fox News are promoting racial division, telling their audiences that the president is a radical black who hates white people? Why isn't Michael Steele using his position in the Republick Party to do something about it himself?

Like Gary Busey, Mike freaks out the Reps because he's just too real for them to handle.

Yeah. That's it...

AND THE TRUTH SHALL SET YOU FREE BROTHER STEELE!!!!!!!!!

"big black male" and mental images of the wife sneaking out behind his back for "get together's".

At least Republicans

There's somebody afraid of Michael Steele? For his "blackness"?...please...

His fellow Repukes are not judging him by the color of his skin, but the content of his brain - which seems to be very , very Mushy!

simply put
michael steele is just a moron
he let the gop brainwash and manipulate him
he only has the position he has because the
gop as usual are using whoever they can to
become acceptable in the American public's
favor.
michael steele is not smart enough to even
listen to all the hate and racism spoken
clearly in public by ALL THE GOP SENATORS AND REPREPS

No there afraid of rash

Have none of y'all never heard of calamine lotion, people?

their afraid of hash

.

i hope not

I never cease to be amazed at what passes for insightful political discussion in this country.

Citizens of dictatorships laugh at us.

maybe their response would be reduced to a subdued chuckle.

Superb!

"Citizens of dictatorships laugh at us."

Funny, sad and probably true.

...I'm raging black and you scare the fuck out of me...while making me LMAO.

I'm raging off-white, not a republican and I'm just glad he's on their side.

We're pissing ourselves out of uncontrollable laughter, not fear, Mike!

Seriously - white Republicans are afraid of Steele's malapropisms and white-boy jive-talk?

Give me a break.

After Steele finished his regular chore of popping the many fresh cysts off of Limbaugh's cavernous lumpy ass.

twisted

This recovering republican knows the terrain. My family is split right down the middle on Obama and his tormentors.

The GOP is filled with Racists.. and part of the reason they are afraid of Steele is because of the racial power he holds over the party.

Steele is clearly a beneficiary of the same affirmative action policies the right abhors. But who said the GOP has principles. They don't even get it... they advance Steele as a badge of racial tolerance and then berate him in private because they are hostage to racial politics.

Cognitive dissonance is pretty much what I see in the party. They hated George Bush because he was a poseur - they knew it, but elected him anyway... and look what happened.

Then, rather than bring Bush and Cheney up on War Crimes charges [which would have advanced the party numbers enormously] - the GOP defends the last 8 years!! -- AND redirects all it's aggression toward Obama - who really hasn't been much of a progressive the last 12 months!!

The whole response of the Right has been out of sync with events.

What kind of cream-puff would be afraid of Michael Steele? Have you ever watched the guy speak? He's pathetic! Seriously, the GOP should just make Gingrich the leader of their party as long as he'll do it. Newt Gingrich is a worthy opponent. Michael Steele comes off as a bootlicker.

They're just afraid of his skin color, not his party affiliation.

To understand Michael Steele, it helps (a bit) to know who's coaching him:

Satire video

(satire)

Oh that Michael Steele...he's so off the hook!

I can just see it - the "Notorious RNC." Remember, for one day the RNC had an area for young people to go to on their website labeled "What up?" LOL, gangsta, M, gangsta.

It sounds like Mr. Steele is giving the republicans an excuse to fire him.
He is a clown along with limbaugh, beck and palin.
When will republicans realize that they scare the rest of us, not with the truths they supposedly tell, but by the hate they represent?

Last saturday...More than 200 people gathered for the first public demonstration by African Americans against the Obama administration since his historic inauguration in January, and slammed the president for continuing what they described as Washington's "imperialist" agenda around the world.

continued...

Mickey Mouse! The "power" is in the hands of those with CASH MONEY. Where does everyone think they are here? This is Corporate America where money rules everything, remember? The corporatist and Wall Street paid for Obamas' election, PERIOD! Steele is just a counterpoint to Obama: typical reactionary rethug response:Dems got blackface, Rethugs need one too! Steele's bought and paid for as much as Obama. Get real folks..........both of them are powerless!

What/whoever gave you the idea that all African Americans voted for Obama?
Oh, yeah, that's right--Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity, Ailes, Murdoch, Hume, O'Reilly, Savage, Jones, etc.

The 200 AAs have as much of a right to assemble as the tea party folks.

Did you see signs of the president as Hitler, signs of the victims of the Holocaust, Obamacare signs, you're a racist signs, we want our country back signs, etc?

I think the R's have good reason to fear the Steele . . .

He is a GOP black caucus of one. . .

The R's have to live in fear. It alays has to be something.

Hey Michael,

Wake up! You're a frikkin ni...I mean, african american!

Jesus Christ on a stick! Do we have to draw you an effin PICTURE?

Don't try to hide it. We don't use that hateful term any more. We say "communist," "Marxist," or "fascist," but it means the same thing as that old word.

WE don't but the conservatards always have. I'm just mocking them.

after looking over both shoulders.

Keep up the boffo work, Mike! If you're somehow able to manage a turnaround for your party, I'm certain you'll be lauded with the highest praise the GOP has for a successful African American:

Magic Negro.

...despise this awful excuse for a black man more than they hate Obama.

.

As an African American female I can tell you that many of us find Steele to be a one man, modern day minstral show. This guy straight up coons for the Republican party. They obviously selected him to attract us, similar to the way McCain selected Palin to attract women. Both were epic failures. Steele is an embarrassment to us all both young and old. We are thrilled that he's shilling for the party of klan. They will never attract miniorites to their party. The Teabaggers have done more to turn off everyone including whites and I couldn't be more proud of many of you who are our true brothers and sisters in this fight for racial diversity. All of us, out number these racists morons. They're shrinking and they know it.

Another AA female who agrees with you.

Add me to the list. Steele is an embarrasment to us. He was given that job in spite of his obvious incompetence and is now trying to save his ass. We don't need the race baiters running both parties and it makes us look bad.

Michael, you're simply a counter-weight to Obama. A comically inaffective counterweight.

Is Steele just now realizing that hes the token negro of the GOP? The only reason they chose him is because the nation just elected Obama. He was set up to be ignored before even being appointed.

It's only a matter of time before Steele goes all Hasan on them. Put enough stress on anyone for long enough, make them betray core values and core identity, and eventually they'll break.

But, you know, that's an unfair comparison -- unfair to Major Hasan. Steele signed on a Republican Party that wouldn't have won a single national election since the Civil Rights Act unless thay had taken over, at that time, the segregationist franchise from the Democratic Party. Hasan signed up for USUHS, and with it a committment to serve in the Army until 2017, in 1997, when a person might have been foregiven for thinking that the US Army would never do "counterinsurgency" again, never again make war on a civilian population, least of all an Arab or Muslim population simply for being Arab and Muslim. But then we had 9/11, and it soon thereafter became everyone's patriotic duty to not even ask why we were invading Iraq just for being a Muslim country. And then we had folks like GEN Boykin explain it all to us as a Crusade that the Christian US was waging against Islam.

So maybe the Rethugs really don't have to worry about any sort of stress on Steele's conscience making him snap some day. He pretty clearly demonstrated that he isn't burdened by a conscience when he became a Republican. The same cannot be said about joining the Army, well, at least before it got back into counterinsurgency after renouncing it in the wake of Vietnam.

Steele, whatever you may say about him, had the balls to take the job, knowing what was in store for him. The GOP still believes that the election was carried by the black vote solely. We know that the election was carried by all the folks who didn't like Bush, his economic collapse, his payoff to the banks and Wall Street, and that the determining factor wasn't even the blacks, but they plus the disenchanted and the economically disenfranchised. The new depression turned many middle-class Americans of all colors into the New N-Words--unemployed, on food stamps, and as angry as any Watts rioter.

I make hillbilly, redneck, red state jokes upon myself. Steele makes black jokes, and is not racist thereby, but practicing the same self-deprecating humor common to oppressed groups since print and broadcast media have kept records of jokes.

He took the job a week or so after Obama got his own. If the GOP honchos are afraid of him because of his color, it's because he can recognize the shitstorm of racism which has hailed down upon Obama and Holder. It's because he's talking about education and the GOP wants the underclasses kept ignorant. Steele's hands may be tied now, but if the GOP continues their self-destructive ways, he may be able to make sufficient changes to bring moderate blacks into the party and give the Dems impetus to get honest.

... he just doesn't get it.

The right chose to use this stumblebum to prove that, just like Obama, black folk are inherently inept.

Batting .500 ain't too shabby.

scare any white person?

He scares the boogey man too.

Don't want to get racial on a brother, but you brought it up, so I'd just like to say that you are about a scary to white Republicans as Amos n' Andy.

Imagine: Scared of their own window dressing.
Were they scared of Clarence Thomas?

Where's this guy's orange wig and red ball nose. Seriously.

He does not scare me because he is black. He scares me because he is an African American pushing the talking points of racist wingnuts. So he is an idiot or he is ok with sleeping with the enemy, which would still make him an idiot.

The GOP is full of bigots, and even Steele--who knocks himself out to be as non-threatening to such people as possible--is 'way outside their comfort zone.

I feel kind of sorry for him. It must be horrible.

Poor Michael, only chosen to head the Repubs because Obama won the last election. The poor thing quickly learned that his party consists of two types of people: racist right wing southerners and Booble-pounding bigoted evangelical types. And guess what? Those two groups consist mainly of whites. Steele's admission that white Repubs have been afraid of him says it all. First, if he can read those vibes from those present he must be acutely aware of his being a token, a new kind of Uncle Tom. Second, "white Republicans" is tautological. What other kind of Republicans are there?

scares his reflection. But he makes the rest of us and his "colleagues" laugh heartily.

)O(

Now here's a scary black man:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2bTQcREbcyY

This moran scares me and I am black.

I am an African-american. I have come to realize that the Democrat party is driven by racism and bigotry. They have only profited financially by keeping us on a economic plantation of poor schools and welfare in order to buy votes over the years.

I understand how the Dixiecrats (who later became known as the Democrats) used racist jim crow laws to suppress us and create racial division between the lighter skin blacks and the darker skin Blacks. These same democrats are using the writings of an old slave owner to use race as a political tool to continue the slave mentality in all Americans in order to create division and mindless violent mobs.

Check this is the book out below:

"Breaking the Curse of Willie Lynch: The Science Of Slave Psychology"

Now Obama has community-organized blacks to beating up other blacks how do not trust in Obama's policies.

Now whites are the victims of the curse of Willie Lynch.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OM8VLGqRX7o

Democrats connection with Margret Sanger founder of Planned Parenthood who was a Hitler Sympathizer is solid evidence that the Democrat party has NAZI and supremacist tendencies.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kEja-1emRic

They call others racist in order to perpetuate racial division in America. Obama's paid bloggers tend to fabricate the news promoting a socialist agenda. They do not represent the majority of Americans.

Of course you are, dear.
