I have lived in this district for many years and have never met him. I have met most of the others that are lining up for the seat, but until a few weeks ago I had never heard of him. I like what I see but will have to see some more of him around the district and I would also like to know what are his goals for our district. We have some big problems here like other big city districts, like section 8 housing, mass transit issues, hate crimes are up (it is the gayest place between the Village and Castro street), and the mortgage mess is starting to hit hard here. I would also like to know why I should vote for him instead of Fiengholtz or any of the others.
Start with his book. I didn't know diddly about him either until I picked up his book, "Which Side are You On?", out of a marked-down bin at a bookstore. I bought it and couldn't put it down. Still have it handy in my library. There are very few books that describe the dismantling of the middle class; "Shock Doctrine" is one. This is another.
He was my choice for Sec. of Labor, if only for the reason that, as he states in his book, that the Dept. of Labor has never had someone that represented labor as Secretary. It's always an industry or anti-union politician. He makes the point that the Dept. of Labor is a contradiction in terms.

Just my 2 cents worth
