I think most of the nation took note of his 'suspending my campaign' and flying to D.C. to singlehandedly save the American economy and actually ending up almost destroying it. THAT is what they'll associate "erratic in crisis" with. It's hard to tell what really makes an impact on the average voter, but I think McCain's 'Mighty Mouse' act ("Here I Come To Save The Day!")caught the nation's attention.
I particularly like the fact that the ad characterizes McCain's campaign tactics as 'dishonorable'. It's definitely accurate and also manages to follow the Rovian strategy of attacking your opponents supposed strengths. I wouldn't be surprised to see 'outraged' surrogates out there reciting 'how dare you call War-Hero-John-McCain dishonorable!' talking points.
Well, all this really shows just how McCain "puts country first" and promises to "run an honorable campaign." In such a crisis, it is clear that McCain has no solution. Infact, he would just make this crisis worse as would follow in Bush's footsteps. He has no answers, so he is taking the low road.
Its kind of sad to see the once brave war hero turn to such low, cowardice, racist tactics to win an election. His recent smears against Obama and his pick of a completely inexperienced Sarah Palin all say something:
McCain: "I would rather win an election than do what's best for the American People."
What exactly is the brave and heroic part about bombing civilians and getting shot down and captured? I won't add in the part about cracking under toorture - some did, some didn't, and I probably would. But climbing into a plane and bombing women and children IS a choice.
Alright alright. So the war hero is probably just an inflated image. I mean after all, it certainly isn't heroic to drop your injured wife for a younger, richer one...
But, I still think its sad to see him take the low road and forever etch himself into the history books as "McSleazy."
It's easy to undertand this cowardice behavior . . . McCain was no hero. True he should be honored for serving his country as many did, but the hero status was inflated because his father was an Admiral in the Navy. Numerous enprisoned with him and released at the same time were "just released military that served their country" . . . John had political clout to create this image that eventually bought him a place in the Senate . . . No honor there!
I sure hope so.
Of course I'm not complaining. Just ideas from the peanut gallery.
[F5 did the same in the old system. It performs exactly as 'Refresh' did on the old system. That button refreshed the entire page as well. No difference there. Also, your browser has a refresh button. Exact. Same. Thing. :) Really-Sitemonitor]
I had heard about this advertising approach and thought that Obama was going to go all out negative. I thought this wasn't a good idea for him.
But this doesn't attack McCain at all. This attacks McCain's tactics. This makes all the difference.
Every day I realize more and more what a gentleman Barack Obama really is. America's honored place in the world just might have a chance to get some of it back.
Palin deserves a brutal smack-down for her Obama "pals around with terrorists" remark. Believe it or not, her teflon is quite thin. It's time for the Obama surrogates to go after Palin's "silliness" factor. It's a short distance between being a candidate for VP and being the subject of jokes at both cocktail parties and in the neighborhood bar.
Obama voted exactly the same way McCain did on this Wall Street bail-out (rip-off of the America public) and you are trying to perpetuate a perceived difference between he from McCain when it comes to finances. Who do you think you are fooling?
This would be hilarious, but in truth is sad. But it is necessary for those who become party clowns.
Take the gloves of now, Barack. It's okay to bring up the S&L scandal and Keating 5 when going after McCain. And while you're at it, start talking about Cindy's criminal drug seeking behavior.
Obama should put a muzzle on that lipstuck pitbull and bring up her husbands ties with radical group AIP, her crazy anti-Semitic witch pastors, tax fraud, and troopergate. The Obama camp should McCain's hasty choice another albatross necklace next to Bushy.
Sorry OT, but it appears comments are off on the Mel Martinez thread.
[The tech guys are still doing maintenance. Things will appear, disappear, turn off, turn on and go fast, then go slow. I wrote them about the comments being off, in case it's a mistake-Sitemonitor]
Who in hell wants to go back and find who commented on what? We have to scroll though the whole page. Danger, danger, this is not working. Why do I have to add 2+2 each time?
[Uh-that sounds like the old format to me. Wait until you see a couple of flame wars erupt, and they're all contained in their own little thread...ahhh. I can almost taste it-Sitemonitor]
I want to know when people are attacking my friends. by the way, I'm not sure I want to respond to Ron. He is "not verified". (What does that mean? Not verified. I'm not sure I like that.)
This is what I hoped the Obama campaign would do. I hope they did some huge buys in the media markets so this poisons the well against McCain's attack ads. Hopefully it'll work.
So the wolf killer is trying to link Obama to Ayers and using the word terrorist. It is about time to bring out the "Witch Doctor" card. And the "can't think of a newspaper" card. Over and over and over again.
Cool new layout. I actually liked the last one better as it looked more homemade or whatever. But I know changes are necessary when you grow and improve.
But Obama has to be on OFFENSE for October. If he goes into a prevent defense to protect his lead he will lose the game. I think this is a GREAT ad to start the week as it tells America what McCain intends to do so it'll be less effective when he does it.
Since McCain is getting dirty, someone should ask:
The word 'hero' is usually reserved for someone who has done something 'heroic'. Someone who has risked his own well-being for the benefit of someone else without expectation of a reward.
What have you 'done', not 'endured', but 'done' that could be described as heroic, not including the destruction of 4 or 5 U.S. fighter planes, a fire on the USS Forrestal that lasted for days and killed some 130+ sailors due to wet starting your engine [by some accounts], dumping your first wife for a millionairess, the 'Keating Five', your - at least partial - responsibility for the deregulation of financial institutions?
The sound bite of the day came from Obama in NC just minutes ago, talking about McCain. Referring to the McCain strategy to go negative, Obama said that's what you do "when you're out of touch, out of ideas, and running out of time." Brilliant!
The extremely erratic behavior of John McCain should be of significant concern to all Americans. We heard in George W Bush's campaigns he was going to be a bipartisan leader, but he ditched America's wishes and went on his own. McCain will do the same thing. It's a matter of record that as an elderly politician with years in Congress, he has not done one thing for middle America and he voted numerous times against American vets. (http://www.aflcio.org/issues/politics/unionve...)
He is desperately trying to use Bush's tactics to win an election, knowing full well he will follow in the exact same footsteps as his predecessor.
He scares me more than Bush, but not as much as Cheney.
This ad says it all and the american people have witnessed for themselves the totally erratic (mental problems anyone??) behavior of John McSchizo. This man has become downright frightening. Either it's mets to the brain from his primary lesion or it's senile dementia. Take your pick. Neither one is very savory when you realize that his #2 Sarah Sixpack ascends to the presidency who is even more stupid than George W. Bush.
At one time I could've lived with a mcgramp's presidency. But that time is long gone. He pretty much always voted with boosh, and his running mate clinches my concern. Candidates have always fought dirty, which is fine as long as it remain substantive.
Now though if mcgramps gains the controls of America, we'll all be tortured by the VC.
I think Obama is doing fine. We are worrying too much....What really matters now is making sure all the registered voters show up. I think Obama's ads get better and always focus the attacks to how they relate to the economy. The ayers thing really plays to the base but not to people who are worried about the economy. This is why Obama has a better strategy... it takes more leaps to determine the point McCain is trying to make...that Obama shouldn't be trusted. That's asking too much from a soundbite. We should all fallow Obama's strategy... Don't talk about Palin or read about her...you ignore her, it downplays her importance. Focus on telling people about Obama's economic plans and make sure people know they really need to get out and vote.

Are we still playing the "frist" game?
Sure, why not.
Being second with this new format ain't too tough either...
Interesting new setup you have here. I can't believe no one talked about Palin's arrogance and condescension on Thursday night.
It's a good ad. But it left me wondering what they meant by "erratic in crisis."
I mean I know what it means but to somebody who doesn't the ad just leaves you hanging.
I think a good follow up ad would give examples of McCain's erraticism.
I think most of the nation took note of his 'suspending my campaign' and flying to D.C. to singlehandedly save the American economy and actually ending up almost destroying it. What is the best way to "Refresh". On the old one there was a button for refreshing comments. Maybe it is here but I haven't found it yet?
F5
There is a dealy at the bottom of the page. I am trying to determine when that tab appears.
F5 is a total refresh, right...er... Correct? In the olden days only the comment would refresh and not the whole page. Correct?
Yeah, F5 (or Reload tab on Google toolbar) refreshes entire page, not only the Comments.
Maybe later?...
I sure hope so.
Of course I'm not complaining. Just ideas from the peanut gallery.

Obama needs to hit harder than this!! He needs to hit hard and often and LOW!! It is the only thing the idiots understand.
Hit him where it hurts.
Ouch!

She is extremely vindictive thou.
Attack her being be silly and they will turn that around as calling Joe Six Pack silly.
"smacking-down" palin should be done by voters by voting NO for palin.
as to what Obama should do, he's got lots of class and i don't want to see him lower himself to the smack-down level.
Normally I would agree with you but there's an old axiom that say "Nice guys finish last."
Somebody calls you a "pal of terrorists" and you turn the other cheek. Bless you.
Is the Alaska Independence Party the October surprise or something?
Are they leaving US?
I'll bring balloons, beer, and bullets.

Jeezus Christ, people.
You spelled Geezus wrong.
Its a little more complicated then that...
For what it is worth..
I boo'ed him at the rally I attended when he mentioned it.
Ahhh very good..
Obama's Judo is strong...
McCain has no working appendages left..
Larry Sinclair and his bullshit is next... know this.
Take the gloves of now, Barack. It's okay to bring up the S&L scandal and Keating 5 when going after McCain. And while you're at it, start talking about Cindy's criminal drug seeking behavior.

Yes they are off for some reason. I'm sure they are just working on the site and somehow turned off the comments. I'm still getting used to it too.
But it seems the topic has been mentioned...
Who in hell wants to go back and find who commented on what? We have to scroll though the whole page. Danger, danger, this is not working. Why do I have to add 2+2 each time?

I'm thinking I agree 100%.
Who's going to know if there is a flame war if you are way down the page from it?
I want to know when people are attacking my friends. by the way, I'm not sure I want to respond to Ron. He is "not verified". (What does that mean? Not verified. I'm not sure I like that.)
I don't know what it means either but I've been here for a long time.
Can you verify that? It looks like you cant.
One single boink huh?
I figure you guys boinked alot.
OUTSTANDING!
To the codemonkeys: Great job!!!

Nothing is better than clinging to guns and religion then good old-fashioned ugliness. Seriously, want to rouse the base? Ugly beats Jesus every time!
Obama should unleash the surrogates
like move on and the rest.

Seeing as Obama has given the nod to 527s, you think we should start one attacking McCain's character and Strength?
Like how he lost 5 planes, left his first trophy wife after she got hit by the ugly stick, or might launch a bunch of nukes on a whim and die?
Don't forget reporting on Palin's daughter's first bastard child too, Family woman? Fair game!
