LOL So, according to you the folks in St Peters are hoosiers, not rednecks. Then pray tell, what do you call the folks in Cave Springs and Lake St Louis?
(One would assume that the residents of Dardenne Prairie are prairie dogs?)
If you are so intelligent and not a "red-neck", and a former union organizer then maybe you'd would also be smart enough to use the correct acronym for the United Food and Commercial Workers union, dumbass.
I live in St. Charles, MO which is a neighbor to St. Peters - both in St. Charles County, MO. It is a very conservative area. HOWEVER, I would argue that comments like the one above is not only unnecessary but inaccurate. I have several neighbors who are McCain/Palin supporters and are thoughtful, informed people. Their philosophies differ greatly from mine. Let us not insult those who disagree with us by hurling ad hominem attacks that do nothing to move forward our discourse, and are generally inaccurate. Signs for both tickets are disappearing all over my neighborhood - I bring mine in at night to avoid problems. My guess is that sign stealing and sign vandalism is not unique to St. Peters, MO. So, with all due respect, can we please stop lowering ourselves through hateful, divisive discourse? We are supposed to be PROGRESSIVE after all.
Eh, if that's the worst they do, we should be happy.
Vandalizing signs is small potatoes. Heck, driving to work this morning I found myself fighting the urge to detour onto my neighbors lawn to flatten his McCain signs. Tomorrow may be a different story.
So far so good with my Obama signs,
I lost count of how many Kerry signs I had, they
never lasted past a couple of days,I live in the Ohio really RED
section, but So far the Obama signs have lasted a week!
We keep teasing our die-hard republican friends by telling them we are going to sneak over one night and put an Obama sign in their yard. Then all their fellow republican neighbors will see it on their way to work the next morning. If we did that, our friends would probably be asked to move out of the neighborhood. It's almost that bad in the area they live in, lots of big money and big money is always a grand friend of Republicans.
I'm going to say this is no big deal. Obviously, it would be better if both sides respected the opposition's property, but that's not going to happen. It's worth calling attention to it, but I have no doubt that both sides are likely to do this kind of thing. (Burning is not a good idea.)
Whenever I see a McCain/Palin sign I want to shred it, but I don't. After eight years of lawless Republican incompetence the idea of McCain as president is horrifying and my natural impulse is to destroy McCain campaign materials.
Of course, I believe in freedom of expression and that includes the right of people to display signs supporting incompetent mavericks and dishonorable morons.
My advice: don't destroy stuff the other guy puts up and don't don't freak out when the other guy's supporters wreck your stuff.
A virtually all-white party(and proud of it) that calls themselves "Christians" yet supports a murderous Pre-emptive war. A party that speaks endlessly of spreading freedom worldwide all while they intimidate and suppress the rights of their fellow citizens whom they disagree with. The foundation of the Republican party is rooted in hatred and hypocrisy.
The Nation is thankfully passing this evil party by.
And who the hell sent around that Anthrax to people before the passage of the Patriot Act. Let's get to the bottom of some of this shit and stand up for our Country again.
Rig up a web cam on the sign. Link it to the internet. The world can act as security. If the dumb punks try that stunt again, their faces get plastered all over the internet.

Well folks... Looks like this little hate match McCain, Palin and the rightwing rant radio assholes have been striking for the last 15 years or so has finally ignited in a big way..... Shit is going to get out of hand and someone is going to get hurt or die over it all before it's over I fear... And it's the republicans and their handlers fault for stirring this cultural shitstorm up.... Everyone knows it and no amount of after the fact damage control is going to sweep it back under the rug... The blood if any, will ultimately be on the RNC's and the McCain/Palin campaigns hands....
On the other hand, if not now, then when will we as a nation finally settle all this civil rights/60s' unrest/ all the rest of the old scores left over and festering for... well in some cases since the LBJ great society of the 60's, in some cases since the FDR new deal of the 30's and in some cases since the freakin civil war....
Don't believe that last? Then explain why one can purchase a t-shirt all over the south indicating the civil war is merely at half-time..... Explain why some fight tooth and nail to include the old stars and bars of the failed confederacy onto state flags all over the south. One can take this Ohio small town northern white trash transplant to Cali to task over all this... But it's the bigotted trailor trash rednecks in the so-called midwest 'heartland', far west rural 'badlands' and down south below the Mason/Dixon line who buy into this shit and continue to beat it into the ground.. not me. I'm just recognizing it for what it is.. and maybe calling this devil by name.... But if not me, then who.............JD
This is the chickens finally coming home to roost. Congratulations to the people who are surprised by this. For a lot of people of color, we've had to put up with this ugliness our entire lives.
And then, we had to put up with people who claimed what we experienced was "nothing" and "should be ignored".
I wonder now if these actions will be taken as "race bait" and a "distraction"?
Good news for me. My husband just walked in the door with two Obama yard signs. So in the morning I will proudly display one in my front yard. I'll probably bring it in at night for a while.
This person has a different situation, as their signs were stolen twice. Her 16 year old son set up a camera in their house and a cam site for everyone to watch the sign. People all over the world watch this sign. In Australia and England they watch it at night and comment on the site. CNN and their local news have done stories on this. This started from a commenter on Mudflats. http://www.ustream.tv/channel/obama-sign-cctv-1
It's only a matter of time before the right wing scum starts burning or lynching Obama in effigy. If I ever caught one of these fascists trying to deface my Obama sign, which is proudly on my front yard, they'd leave with a mouthfull of broken teeth...
That's awful- Right wing scum in Toronto tried to *MURDER* Obama supporters? American right wingers are that way, but I'm shocked that would happen in Canada, I didn't think you had our problem of right wing psychopaths.
The whole world s undergoing a paradigm shift. It's happened before, like when countries all over the world moved away from slave-based economies, that was pretty bloody and brutal.
There are two distinct world-views going on here. One is patriarchal, fear-based, sees external threats everywhere, militaristic, theocratic, nationalistic and jingoistic. These are your one percenters, as in, if there is a one percent chance we'll be attacked, we have the right to attack anyone, anytime. Vigilante justice is acceptable, even heroic.
These are the, "My God is bigger than your god", people.
The economies of such a worldview are, by necessity, based on endless war.
The other worldview is more wholistic, not fear-based, forward looking, cooperative and committed to the Rule of Law. We believe in the Rule of Law for everyone so that the framework for a cooperative society can function - for everyone, not just the rich and powerful. We believe mutual problems can be solved mutually, and that not every part of our society should be based on a profit motive. Profit is good, creativity is good, mutual benefit is good. Hope is good. Irrational fear for the sake of fear is the ultimate wastefulness.
A country run on irrational fear will waste all it's resources, including it's human resources, on fighting illusions.
The economies of this world view are based on self-sustaining communities which provide the foundation for creativity and profit that is not based solely on war.
Most of the world is ready to make this paradigm shift, the countries and groups fighting it look increasingly bizarre and anachronistic to the rest of us. But the fear-mongers are desperate at the thought of losing control. They literally fear it will be the end of their world.
This level of hatred is certainly alive and well but that's true in every nation. We are lucky to be in a nation that allows free speech and if instead of suppresing these stories we should flood the spotlight on them. I'm glad that most of today's mainstream media is paying attention to all of the hate speak because good citizens will see through the hypocrisy and in that private moment called voting they will do what's good for the country and perhaps humanity.
And while we are in the curious/crime fighting mood, let's work on getting to the bottom of some more mysterious anomalies as well. Like the Election Fraud that has occurred on private software machines over the last elections. The Federal Reserve corporation that is gaining in power and who owns it. The questions many family members still have regarding terrorism in this country how their loved ones got killed. The unbelievable threats of Anthrax sent to prominent members of Congress prior to controversial constitution changing legislation such as the Patriot Act. Etc Etc. We are mature enough and wise enough to handle it. Do what you can.

Chesterfield is so Republican you can't imagine. The fun thing this time is that I have never, and I mean never, seen so many Democratic signs as I am seeing this year. I've lived here for over 20 years and knew about 4 Democratic families in a subdivision of 300 homes. Lots of company this time, though.
People in Chesterfield are a little further up the food chain than the St. Peter's crowd. They wouldn't burn your sign. They'd just cut you dead at the supermarket from now on.
And others are being stolen - I heard this on Stephanie Miller's show. When I got my Obama/Biden sticker for my car I bought three in case of vandalism. They came today and it's raining - will get it on ASAP.
Remember - these people can be dangerous. The days of and around the election are going to be horrible. They're angry, hateful, bullying thugs - and it will boil down to the fact that the entire re-THUG-lic party is going to throw a horrific collective tantrum. They might be provocative and aggressive. (remember the florida "recount") It might get violent - this is what they hope for. Be ready for it. NO VIOLENCE!!
Re-thug-lics -- the party of immature, voraciously rapacious, despotic, doughy white, cowardly, aggressively angry, bigots, racists, perverts, xenophobes, pedophiles, murderers, war criminals, homophobes, misogynists, self-hating women, fetid wombs and consummate chronic liars.
*
There's a huge difference between wanting to run over someone's yard sign or steal it and actually setting one on fire. Are we sinking that low that we want to hurt other people because of their political affiliation. I can't wait for my Obama t-shirt to come in the mail. Wonder if those cowards will do something to a lady wearing a t-shirt.
Even here in Blue Portland Oregon, we have seen many sign thefts (and as above, some fool even burned a McCain sign--we don't like that in our tolerant city), so I put my Obama sign behind my locked iron gate. I am sorry to say I am a native Missourian.........the home of Harry Truman. What used to be a reliably Democratic state has over the last 20 years turned blood red. Yet another reason I will not be returning to my home state anytime soon. Harry must be spinning in his grave.

Shocking? Hardly. Gutless? Yes. Like the cretin who posted '******' here a hundred times yesterday,This is what will happen. Take a breath and be calm. Like Obama. Soon. Soon.
Forget the sign burning. That was one stupid, hateful asshat. This country has bigger problems to deal with.
The election of Senator Obama to the White House will do a LOT for breaking this bigotry that sickens this nation. Finally, we will have a man of color who is the leader of this "free nation", and all the bigots and racists can see that the sky won't fall when a person of color is in charge. No, they won't come hunting your "white women".
We are a nation of morons, but the election of Obama/Biden will take us forward away from these sorts of sick mentalities that reign THICK in certain parts of the nation, and through out ALL of this nation.
Central PA, had Obama signs way outnumbering the McCain signs a few weeks ago, but now most Obama signs have disapeared. Tons of McCain signs have appeared. They stole my idea I was gonna go and snag all the McCain signs burn em in a barrel while I recorded it then post it to the internet, that would've been fun. I don't do it even tho I want to, guess that's what makes me more democrat than republican respect for stupidity.
I am a Democrat like Kucinich A KUCINICH democrat.

Oh, come on now. Two incidents in the same subdivision? Not a trend, could be a just a few kids who don't get it. I look at the kinda stuff I did as a bored kid, not a statement, maybe just a few kids.
A few kids already indoctrinated in hate by their parents??? Why didn't they burn the McCain sign across the street. The hatred continues: it's spawned.
There was a news report yesterday that someone threw a molotov cocktail at a McCain billboard in Portland(?) and burned a nearby house so this is not exclusive to the right.
It is so nice to know Americans are sticking up for our country by suppressing our Constitutional Rights, not only inside the government but outside the law. [Also]
I just can't wait until the Brown Shirts for Jesus take over in the name of God and by his will so we can all have the same freedoms (none). [Also]
Palin can't wait to lead them to victory over our fellow terrorist citizens. [Also] And put them all where our signs used to be. [Also]
I passed a yard the other day with two Democratic signs up and just as I was wondering where their Obama sign was, I saw a big hand-painted sign that said, "SOME JOE SIX-PACK STOLE MY OBAMA SIGN".
Perfect! Meet the stupidity with humor and still show the support AND send a message!
I would love to see anyone who had a sign burned put up an even bigger hand-painted sign that said, "SOME JOE SIX-PACK WITH MATCHES BURNED MY OBAMA SIGN".

run a motel near Tampa. I can't deal with moron customers. But. My wife uses a great method. Kill em with kindness. Just out-polite them,out-smile them and out-think them. Just hold on folks, and it will be over.
If it were my sign burnt down to the ground, I'd get a new one and coat it with chemicals so next time they came around and tried to set it on fire, they'd get a giant fireball and would most likely have to perform a stop-drop-and-roll. ;) You play with fire, and you suffer the consequences!
A few years ago, I supported an openly gay man running for County Commissioner. He was personally canvassing my neighborhood one day and asked if I'd host a yard sign. I agreed, no problem.
Here's what happened next.
The sign was trampled a few days in a row. No problem I thought, probably just rowdy kids waking home from school.
A few days later, I return home from work to find the sign wadded up on my front porch, which has been smeared with dog feces.
I live in Oklahoma City and apparently, this is normal bible-belt behavior.
Consequently I am not hosting an Obama sign.
No telling how the "good christians" on my block would react.
ever been to Cincinnati? I lived there for about 2 years and there are people there on either side of the river who pride themselves on not ever crossing to the other side. Those dummies are still fighting the civil war. I was so glad to get out.
eh the place blows. the weather sucks (either too hot or too cold) and I can't think of another place where drivers are crazier. I saw people leave their cars running unattended in the street to go get donuts and coffee. It's like a little piece of hell.
I just know what happened at my house and that I have an anonymous, deranged asshole for a neighbor, whom I suspect also has repressed homosexual tendencies.

Yeah, St. Peters... What can you say, other than it's close to Dardenne Prarie, the hometown of Megan Meier, a teenager who took her own life after a myspace prank was pulled on her by an (adult) neighbor.
On the bright side, I live in So. St. Louis City, where there is some sort of Obama sign every ten feet!
We had two young men set fire to someones McCain/Palin yard sign(yes it was a big sign), here in Portland, Oregon. Certainly not a racist issue. They were caught and are going to be doing some serious time. I suspect that their lives are ruined because they didn't feel that this person should be displaying thier opinion. We are supposed to be a country for respecting another persons opinion. I also was the victim of someone stealing our Obama sign. We luckly found it two blocks down the street. Just sad.
Interesting contrast, St. Peters, Missouri police dismissing setting fire
to signs as petty vandalism. When McCain signs were stolen in Illinois
last September, an area newspaper reported the act to be "punishable by
up to three years in prison and fines up to $25,000."
Unless I've overlooked a law in this regard, about the only means to cast
theft of yard signs valued below $300 as a Class 4 Felony in Illinois would
be to maintain that they are government property.
I moved out to this 'burb from St. Louis county 2-1/2 years ago. Big mistake. Huge.
While there are lots of good and smart people here in St. Peters, the vast majority of them are intolerant, one-issue (pro-life) voters, who urban-sprawled their way west to flee that "element" in St. Louis. Just ask what happened when they wanted to bring light rail to St. Charles county from St. Louis.
If you're looking for the 26% of Americans who are satisfied with President Bush's performance, you'll find them all here. In St. Peters, MO.

have possibly the WORST congressman in the entire House, Todd Akin. The joke in our family is that he really died several years ago, but that they have his voice on voicemail and St. Charles County will continue to elect him forever. Utterly worthless representative.I'm just glad that there is a river between me and St. Charles (St. Peter's), Missouri
Does anyone know where I can get a free Obama/Biden sign or bumper sticker? I'm a student at MTSU w/no cash and the last time people were here campaigning, they packed up and left before I could get out of my last class!
I can name zero times when Obama voters destroyed property in the name of Barack. They may destroy your sign (which is illegal to do, last time I checked), but they can't stop you from voting your choice.
I'm not impressed by these sign stories. We've had them in every election since 2000 from both sides of the aisle. I suspect there's real hostility against the Democrats, since this is a red state, but just the same it could be punk kids trying to create trouble. They'll put swatikas on property, probably without understanding their significance, and enjoy the reaction

Scores and scores of Obama/Biden signs have been destroyed in Omaha as well. To add insult to injury, my ruined Obama sign was replaced by a McCain/Palin sign. Win or lose, the Republican party extremist thugs always resort to dirty tricks. The heirs of Lee Atwater are alive and well, to the detriment of our local communities.
If we all set our Obama signs on fire at the same time synchronized across the country, it would be visible from space. Might be a good thing to do when he wins.
I live on the other side of the state in a conservative suburb of Kansas City. My yard sign was pulled down one night and torn in two and thrown in the street. A neighbor girl (of mixed race coincidentally) returned the sign the next morning before she got on the bus - and my wife and I taped it back together and stuck it back in our yard. Our Frankensign is still ther
This is a suburb of St. Louis across the Missouri River in St. Charles county. Its predominately white, upper middle class with a couple of mega churches and big auto dealers. The county was historically a rural area, but has undergone tremendous growth in the last 20 years. The power structure still clings to their rural politics.
Not surprising for one of the more bizarre counties in Missouri. Lots of strange things happen there.
It's important to document these criminal incidents, no doubt, but wow, what a bland video! The close-up shots of the metal sign frame with the melted plastic remnants were just pointless. I think 30 seconds of burnt-sign documentation and 30 seconds of commentary about it would have sufficed to make the point. For one thing, I highly doubt this is the only place this sort of thing is happening.
..and one of the last things we talked about was Barack Obama. She was
concerned about his skin pigmentation and expressed some worry that he
would be a 'blacks first' president if elected. I reminded her that he is
half-white (not that it ought to matter in this day and age) and also
gratuitously reminded her that he is not a Muslim either, which
I would find problematic if it was true, but it's not. Knowing that he is
a devout Christian is problematic enough for me, in any case.
Just do what I do. Hook up some alligator clamps to the sign and surround it with cheap razor wire. Then put up a sign next to it saying it's hooked up to an electric line.
If anyone gets hurt touching it (and I HAVE found blood on the razor wire and on the sign) it's not my problem, they were trespassing on my property, trying to steal my property, and it's tough luck for them.
Also, posting a sign saying that every sign stolen= more money for the campaign does the trick.

If anyone says anything or does anything anti-Obama it must be a hate crime. So if it was a McCain sign burnt would it be a hate crime?
It was probably teenagers acting out and not even worth mentioning.
I do my best to understand and be empathetic toward my fellow man, but this is just one thing I'll never understand.
Such hatred; where does it come from?
This tactic of stoking fear and hate is now SOP for the McCain/Palin campaign: http://brainrageblog.blogspot.com/2008/10/som...
My second Obama sign is in my window.
I was the first one I know of in Elmhurst Il to set one out and it disappeared the next day.
Now there are hundreds..............
Eh...
I've been tempted to drive over a few McCain/Palin signs on my way home from work too.
Someone trashed the ones along US1 in my area. This is why I think a lot of people aren't putting Obama bumper stickers or magnets on their cars.
We were going to put up an Obama yard sign in our yard but they were out of them. Just got a call yesterday saying they had more available.
I would put up another sign, and whoever came to burn it would leave with an ass full of shotgun lead!!!
Who could have ever predicted that angry, hateful, racist right wingers would resort to violence to make their point?
I had my tires slashed twice for having an IMPEACH BUSH bumper sticker on it. Lovely people, aren't they?
In 1996, I had a Clinton/Gore sign on my car. It was part of a local campaign I was working on, and I had the local candidate's sign as well.
I was followed around by some thugs who kept throwing rocks at my car as I drove.
I added an "Insured by Smith and Wesson" sticker to my Impeach Bush, etc. stickers. No vandalism yet. And yes, I would shoot the bastards.
In 2008 people with McCain stickers got their cars Keyed in the post office employee parking. Was that racist?
was on the news last night, mccain't sign, they caught the guys, fire was very close to house.
has spoken.
To paraphrase Jon Stewart, once you've created Frankenstein, you can't be surprised when he tears your lab to shit.
And to repeat myself. There will be blood.
On MacBeth's hands. I mean McCain's hands.
Old fool. Stick to your meds and your homes and your shrill heiress trull. The nation doesn't need your staggering maverickiness.
Heh, they've got nothing on this "Christian" university in Oregon.
WATCH THIS THEN SEND IT TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW!!!!!!!

"Whenever I see a McCain/Palin sign I want to shred it, but I don't."
Do you notice any difference in your approach, and that of the six-packers?????
They should of burnt that hat he's wearing.
You buy a hat like that do you get a free bowl of soup with it?
Oh! But it looks good on you though!
-Rodney Dangerfield
A virtually all-white party(and proud of it) that calls themselves "Christians" yet supports a murderous Pre-emptive war. A party that speaks endlessly of spreading freedom worldwide all while they intimidate and suppress the rights of their fellow citizens whom they disagree with. The foundation of the Republican party is rooted in hatred and hypocrisy.
The Nation is thankfully passing this evil party by.
eom
And who the hell sent around that Anthrax to people before the passage of the Patriot Act. Let's get to the bottom of some of this shit and stand up for our Country again.
Good men don't stand around while evil occurs.

It would be courteous to the publisher of this blog if you occasionally posted something that wasn't pure blog whoring.
Rig up a web cam on the sign. Link it to the internet. The world can act as security. If the dumb punks try that stunt again, their faces get plastered all over the internet.
exactly what these folks did. caught the culprit in the act:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJQQaWReMYc
Check out some disturbingly honest feedback from the heartland:http://brainrageblog.blogspot.com/2008/10/he-thinks-us-white-people-are-trash.html
Damn, that's hard to watch. Can't we just 'nuke' the "heartland" of this country? Please? It's a festering cancer that needs to be excised.
I'm a little surprised I still have mine in the yard.
Want to bet your conscience on that?
Considering I read about a McCain sign burning down this morning
Pair arrested after McCain sign torched in Sellwood
If I ever caught one of these fascists trying to deface my Obama sign, which is proudly on my front yard, they'd leave with a mouthfull of broken teeth...
in Oregon I believe a cut out of Obama was hung from a tree in a noose. Bunch of college kids did it.
Some people who had Liberal signs on their lawns in Toronto actually had the brake lines cut in their cars by some whacko. Hate exists everywhere.
But then, of course, they're nuts.
I hope you're right.
They should be held accountable for inciting violence, vandalism and the violation of our freedom of speech.
We better nip this kind of shit in the bud or we will find ourselves looking like sarejevo
I live in St. Peters MO, and the reason I don't have an Obama sign is I know our home would get vandalized...
This is were modern America and bible belt clash head on, and without a doubt the weirdest state in the union.
These gentlemen have my respect, but to the guy who put his in his window... don't be surprised if your window gets broken
Obama 08!
We must never let them forget, if we do, we've failed.
http://www.ronnierayjenkins.com/topics/deathi...
Looks like the sign was large, but was not a billboard. No house was involved but the right wing sure is making hay out of it.
(The power of Google.)
[Also]
I fully expect more of this to happen in the coming days, sadly.
But also, I was extremely impressed by the choice of music toback up the video. Emergency Broadcast Network. Nice stuff. :)
Not surprising, I live 5 minutes away from this. I will be putting up my sign tonight. Bring it on, Rednecks!
hoosiers, don't you? Have no idea why we call rednecks "hoosiers" in the St. Louis area.
(News: Nov. 5) It started with yard signs, then crosses. Now America is burning. Thanks GOP and all you Joe-six-packs.
McCain and Palin created this anger. Now, he has to witness the aftermath.
Let this be his legacy.
Bedwetting Reslugs are seething that McBush and his ignorant sidekick are losing.
No telling how the "good christians" on my block would react.
man, i really am glad I'm not in Okie-dumb anymore...
Never before in my life did I meet so many narrow-minded, mean-sprited, xenophobic assholes in one small place...
Funny how Norman is considered a "liberal bastion" in this backwards-assed state. I went to school down there and did not feel the liberation.
I've got to get out of here.
Beam me up!
ever been to Cincinnati? I lived there for about 2 years and there are people there on either side of the river who pride themselves on not ever crossing to the other side. Those dummies are still fighting the civil war. I was so glad to get out.
But I will add Cinci to my list of cities to avoid.
One good thing I can think of though, I think Adrian Belew is from Cincinatti.
eh the place blows. the weather sucks (either too hot or too cold) and I can't think of another place where drivers are crazier. I saw people leave their cars running unattended in the street to go get donuts and coffee. It's like a little piece of hell.
How many lefties have vandalized Bush signs over the last 8 years? That too was called 'hate' by the right.
It is wrong no matter who does it or to whom.
I don't know. How many?
I just know what happened at my house and that I have an anonymous, deranged asshole for a neighbor, whom I suspect also has repressed homosexual tendencies.
the economy where they are right now, I'd be willing to bet you that just as many neocons would like to vandalize a Bush sign as "lefties", friend.
Yeah, St.
When McCain signs were stolen in Illinois
last September, an area newspaper reported the act to be "punishable by
up to three years in prison and fines up to $25,000."
http://www.sj-r.com/breaking/x418864611/Polit...
Unless I've overlooked a law in this regard, about the only means to cast
theft of yard signs valued below $300 as a Class 4 Felony in Illinois would
be to maintain that they are government property.
The Obama sign in front of my house was slashed a few nights ago. It's still legible, so it stays put until November.
Made OPB radio around here yesterday or the day before.
I do think that the zombies of the right do it (sign theft/sabotage) more often, but unfortunately, there are some on our side who do it to.
A shame. We absolutely kill them on ideas. Why do we need to go there?
Does anyone know where I can get a free Obama/Biden sign or bumper sticker? I'm a student at MTSU w/no cash and the last time people were here campaigning, they packed up and left before I could get out of my last class!
{ Deleted, I can't allow that comment. Sorry. Please do not advocate any type of violence here. SiteMonitor}
Whereas here in Northern VA, a whole strip of Obama signs (that are on the highway curbside) are rolled over by someone overnight.
I can name zero times when Obama voters destroyed property in the name of Barack. They may destroy your sign (which is illegal to do, last time I checked), but they can't stop you from voting your choice.
Common/Sense '08
I'm not impressed by these sign stories. We've had them in every election since 2000 from both sides of the aisle. I suspect there's real hostility against the Democrats, since this is a red state, but just the same it could be punk kids trying to create trouble. They'll put swatikas on property, probably without understanding their significance, and enjoy the reaction
)O(
"My widdle sign was burnt."
Good gawd...grow some testicles will ya, Boyz?
Scores and scores of Obama/Biden signs have been destroyed in Omaha as well. To add insult to injury, my ruined Obama sign was replaced by a McCain/Palin sign. Win or lose, the Republican party extremist thugs always resort to dirty tricks. The heirs of Lee Atwater are alive and well, to the detriment of our local communities.
Sorry site monitor - that was a bit out of line. I'll "stick" to the idea of surveillance cams! I have no sympathy for individuals that vandalize!
When the family went back to Obamaland to get another sign, the workers told them they'd been advising people to take their signs in at night.
What the hell is wrong with people? I'm thinking that burning things in people's yards might be symbolic (sorry if I'm repeating...)
Videotape the vandals and put them on Youtube.
The beginings of Nineteen Thirty six. History lesson. "How Hitler Came To Power"!?
RNC headquarters have been attacked around the country also...
Yeah, but they deserve it!
(Just kidding)
If we all set our Obama signs on fire at the same time synchronized across the country, it would be visible from space. Might be a good thing to do when he wins.
Vandalism only results in more $$ for Obama!!!

thanks for playing!
My son lives in St. Peters and proudly has his Obama-Biden sign in his front yard, right in the middle of a GOP-heaven neighborhood.
We proudly display our O/B bumper sticker a few miles away.
We don't run scared.
If some nutjob tries to burn something on my lawn, they'd be, *ahem* toast.
When I lived in St. Louis County, I used to refer to the more bigoted neoconservative types in St. Charles County as 'obergruppenHoosiers.'
..and one of the last things we talked about was Barack Obama. She was
concerned about his skin pigmentation and expressed some worry that he
would be a 'blacks first' president if elected.
