I think that Pat's message would be clearer if he spoke in German and pointed at his all-white god in the sky.

Oh, and before I forget . . . Fuck you, Dick Cheney.

In my experience, the people who accuse others others for discrimination are generally very big discriminators themselves. They fear what they know so well, and don't want it directed toward their person.

I work for the Post Office and haven't had a white supervisor in well over ten years. Most of the craft people are white. It would be ludicrus to think there isn't racism going on.

But, that doesn't mean I don't think Pat Buchanan is a jerk and a racist. He certainly is. I think it's a little insulting for him to claim it's the 'working class' he cares about.

Just an observation from my life experience.

I don't know about your work place, but it sounds like it might be unfair. Why don't you ask about it. You have that right, don't you?

And file a discrimination suit if you feel they are being unjust. The Department of Labor has a division called the OFCCP (Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs). You can file a charge with them or with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). They are obligated to investigate if you file a charge. Go for it but make sure you have all of your facts in order.

Please keep Buchanan, Party Leader Limbaugh. President Newt, Lou Dobbs, Bill O Rielly, Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity, Glen Beck and all the rest of the GOP sideshow freaks in front of the camera and in front of the mic please! At least through 2010 and 2012 so we can pad our congressional majorities and re-elect Obama.

Did he really say that? AAHAAAHAAAHAAAAHAAAAA !
Yes, please keep these mental cases in front of the camera as long as possible. Especially Pat and Rush. They're the gift that keeps on giving.

I do have a lot of prejudice agaisnt the white-ass farts that voted for him and really its not so much that they are white but they are stupid white-assed fart. I do have a prejudice against stupid people.
I am a 60 yr old white southernman whose father once spanked him in public for drinking out of the colored only water fountain. I would not piss in Pat Buchannans mouth if his tounge was on fire. I supported and voted for Obama not because he was black but because he was the most qualified morally to lead

FastMovingCloud's picture

Way to overcome your environment. Many of us were raised with prejudices taught to us but the smart ones see past that. Also, Patty is largely responsible for us having eight years of GW BUSH. A lot of elderly Jewish voters cast a ballot for Buchanan in Florida in 2000? I damnly doubt it! The ballot was intentionally designed to fool the elderly and the uneducated. And, to a small degree, it worked. The rest was pure collusion between the Republican Party and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Supposedly the butterfly ballot in Florida was designed by a Democrat

why does anyone need to humor this old, dried up bigot any longer? They employed him to show the world just how f*cking stupid this country can be to nominate this idiot for any political party. Shit, we even had the lipstick pig a heart beat away from the White House.

"We are a nation of morons".....that is why I'm don't agree with people who say that we need to keep having the Buchanans, O'Reillys, Limbaughs, Cheneys, etc, etc. keep talking on teevee. The "morons" get brainwashed easily and will be told how to vote.

I, for one, am sick and tired of these assholes spewing their bullshit and do not believe that them continuing to get face time guarantees Obama another term.

How much more of Liz Cheney's spin will convince people that, "hey, she's right, her old man didn't really try to tie Saddam to 9/11. It's the media's fault!"

We need to hold these traitors accountable and knock down their spin/talking points whenever they arrise. And, no, Andrea Greenspan does not count as someone who will hold anyone accountable.

NoBuddy's picture

I don't see any form of the Republican party being better than the Democrats in the short or medium term. So, I think it's better with Pat, Newt, and Rush pandering to the base, and driving off everyone else, instead of Colin Powell, who, despite his Iraq failings would attract independents. Funny, a black man is probably their best Republican right now.

So, let them be the party of bigotry, rejection of science, and an adaption of a parallel reality. I don't see them growing their base with that approach.

an Irish lush or a Catholic bigot?

friendlyguy's picture

Buchanan is to my understanding half German by ancestry and part Irish and part English. Of late he self-identifies as Scots-Irish (as opposed to the Irish that tend to be Catholic). I never hear him mention the German background and interviewers seem to ignore that in favor of the Irish part.

He was born below the Mason-Dixon line. He identifies with his southern American ancestry. I see him as a Southerner.

I have no knowledge of his drinking habits.

There are bigots among all religions for your information.

FYI, your comment was bigoted.

Well at least Buchanan recognized one clear fact, every single one of the people who have ever voted for him (on purpose) are white.

Yeah Pat, only 7/9 of the court is white men! Don't you people realize how close to hopeless anarchy we are?

Buchanan/Botha 2012

Let's see. Republicans are anti science, anti environment, anti women, anti minorities, anti taxes except for the wealthy and out of control corporations (see above story about Countrywide posted here on C&L)

Republicans are Pro Christian (stay with me, this is where the irony comes in) pro life, pro death penalty, pro war, pro torture, pro deregulation for everything from the financial sector to the food we eat, the air we breathe and the water we drink.

Pro white male. Everyone else can go fuck themselves. Did I leave anything out?

I meant to say anti taxes for ONLY the wealthy and corporations. Sorry.

Pat Buchanan is a nut job. Shouldn't the old relic be retiring? Listening to a privileged old white guy whine about discrimination is beyond laughable. Poor old rich white guys. They've been so abused these last few years. For him to compare himself, or any other white guy, to what African Americans have been through in this country is truly disgusting.

Pete C.'s picture

Let me begin by saying I for one approve of Judge Sotomayor's nomination to the supreme court. However I find it interesting that all the fur is flying over her supposed racist remarks and support for "affirmative action". While I think this is just the flavor of the week for the internet and cable talk shows, the part I find disturbing, and virtually nobody I've heard on the subject has mentioned this, and I feel more damning bit of information is, her comments about a woman being more able to render proper legal opinions better than any man. Personally I have to believe that if any man were to make a statement like that he'd be pilloried about the nation.
Quite frankly if the right wing pundits were more than just a bunch of kneejerk reactionaries, I think they'd get a hell of alot more traction out labeling her a sexist than a racist and basically back their point up by saying what I just mentioned, that a man who has the temerity to mention his advantages over women at rendering correct judgments.
I reallize this post is at the end of the life of this article and will probably never be read, and I also realize that if it does I'll probably be the one getting roasted, so be it. However, until the people of this country realize it's human nature for the majority of the population to take advantage of a situation no matter their station in life, bigotry, nepotism, sexism, and all their relative disgusting actions and reactions will always rear their ugly heads. And until people stop letting their knees jerk and start really paying attention to what's being said we'll never get out of the quagmire. I raised my son to understand that it's one thing to do the right thing when in the public eye, the question is how do you live your life when nobodies looking.
Personally I find Pat B's opinion wrongheaded, if for only he has nothing to say about Sam Alito's mention of his ancestery as an attribute. In this case what's good for the gander should be good for the goose. However to summarily dismiss anything he say's as right wing drivel makes anything you say just as unimmpotant.
The irony I feel quite a people are missing on this subject is the guy she's supposed to replace when he was appointed was going to swing the court to the right, he had the opposite effect. With the recent mini flap over her supposed non oppinion of abortion we might find her working more for the right than the left.

the conversation. She did not say anything about "proper legal opinions." What she said was that she hoped that a Latina woman with the experiences of her life would make a better decision about certain issues than a white man without those same experiences. Parse the sentence. And men have been making statements like that throughout history. About women. Remember? And she was not referring to her advantages. She said experiences, like being a Latina woman in a racist society.
And everything Pat Buchanan says is treated like drivel, because he is one of the chief drivelers for the racist segment of this country. His choice, made freely by him. He is a national joke. I do appreciate what you taught your son. An excellent lesson. Parse the sentence. Break it down and truly understand what she said. Do not let others, even me, make you think a certain way.

Pukeanan same speech he used in front of the hooded KKK.

FastMovingCloud's picture

I could only make it through about 20 seconds of that mash-up of crapulence. YUK!

If Sotomayor and Buchanan were sitting on the court in a discrimination case who would have a deeper understanding of the pernicious effects of discrimination? Buchanan's bloviating proves her point that guys like him would have no clue in such a case.

Under the extreme right wing's logic that she is unqualified because she may have a broader understanding of the effects discrimination, no judge with an MBA, or Engineering or Physics Degree, or who has a family member with a disability should be on the bench because the judge would have a broader understanding of those issues in cases dealing with her or her area of expertise, and might bring that experience into play in deciding the case.

Pat B is and SOB. He has always been racist. Question is... why does MSNBC keep paying him?

Carol A.'s picture

MSNBC's strange relationship with Uncle Pat Buchanan needs to end. Buchanan's ugly personal attacks on Sonia Sotomayor is the last straw. As a regular viewer, I cannot stand to see Buchanan's frowning face, no less listen to his racist, misogynist, neo-conservative diabribes in that whiney old man voice. I change the channel.

Pat Buchanan is a neo-con throw back to the Nixon years, still blaming blacks, immigrants, hippies, abortionists, women and now Muslims for all of America's problems. American society has passed him and his supreme white patriarchal society by, yet MSNBC continues to air his views. Buchanan remains a strong supporter of phoney airhead Sarah Palin, while he disparages intelligent, experienced, accomplished Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor. Buchanan's attacks are personal, racist, sexist, and vile.

I urge everyone to join me in contacting GE's MSNBC to demand that they fire Pat Buchanan.
