Say goodbye to "Freedom's Watch"
By John Amato Tuesday Dec 09, 2008 9:00amGood night and good luck, Ari Fleischer.
Freedom’s Watch, the 501 (c4) organization heavily funded by Las Vegas Sands Corp. Chairman Sheldon Adelson and hyped as the conservative answer to MoveOn.org, is shutting its doors. Ed Patru, Vice President of Communications for Freedom’s Watch, said in an interview that the organization would be effectively ceasing its operations at the end of the year.
Freedom’s Watch launched in the summer of 2007 with a splash, launching a $15 million nationwide ad campaign supporting President Bush’s troop escalation in Iraq and announcing a staff roster that read like a who’s who of the Washington Republican establishment, including former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer and Bradley Blakeman, a former deputy assistant to President Bush. Rumors circulated that the organization would spend as much as $200 million in the course of the 2008 election cycle...read on
With all your help, Blue America took them head on. Blue America vs Freedom's Watch
Chris Cilliza of the Washington Post wrote this today:
We don't want Karl Rove to pick off the good progressives who are already running in 2008, so we're putting robocalls into their districts to counter the deceptive ones created by Freedom's Watch," explained Jane Hamsher, the founder of Firedoglake and a member of Blue America.
John Amato, founder of Crooks and Liars, added: "[Freedom's Watch is] blaming Democrats for the outrageous gas prices we now see all across America, ... which is actually the product of almost eight years of Republican control."

Couldn't have put that any better myself. And good riddance. I myself am not fond of MoveOn, I feel they go too far sometimes. But it's good to see sleaziness getting its just reward.
BREAKING NEWS
Illinois Governor Arrested for trying to sell Obama's Senate seat!!
Obama clean, others implicated!
They've turned out the lights and rolled up the astroturf.
So are republicans responsible for the gas problem I have with 7-11 nachos?
The shorter our memory about these Chekists, the sooner we'll see them back in the halls of power. The money and influence is just too shiny for them to ignore.
they have quite the orwellian knack for naming their organizations and initiatives. "freedom's watch", bwahahahaha, yay, right.
and why is it that the vast majority of rightwing "grassroots" efforts are started, funded, led by, and controlled by members of the ruling class, and seem nearly void of any populist content? (rhetorical question)
if you go to las vegas: NEVER gamble at the sands. you would only be putting a down payment on your own personal cage.
Are we supposed to take that name as something serious? They take that name and if they did win, we would be watching our freedoms disappearing.
ha
is "freedom's" watch going to issue a final statement about gas prices? now that we have seen gas prices fall dramatically should we expect to see a blurb to the extent that "Freedom's Watch is thanking Democrats for the reasonable gas prices we now see all across America"?
it is an equally ridiculous claim, but i think "freedom's" watch should at least be consistent in their idiocy.
that the Repignicans stole Freedom's watch - along with Freedom's wallet and credit cards...
you're funny.
My daughter worked for Sands Corp. this summer, she's 18, a college
freshman and sweetly naive about the work world. I could write a book
about the underhanded and probably illegal things that they do to their employees. Adelson deserves everything he's reaping. The
company actively discriminates, and I'm hard pressed to believe
that doesn't begin anywhere else but at the top.
:)
Oh, tears of sadness are running down my face.
Don't believe for a second that these slimy bags of fuck won't rear their ugly heads again. You can't keep a nauseating, toxic substance down.
I guess watching freedom is a bit more complicated than they anticipated.
They can now go back to their previous venture, Watching Hookers.
Just ask Scotty McClellan.
But at least McClellan came clean (to a certain degree). Fleischer and Perino are truly evil, lying pieces of crap with no redeeming social value whatsoever.
"But at least McClellan came clean (to a certain degree)."
As a weasel, not a whistleblower. The most he could tell us was what everyone already knew. Nothing that evokes a gasp, only "duh"s.
Perino is yummy.
I'd tap that.
... is a vapid piece of eye-candy not worth the time.
in women and in post.

Good news! Well done!
Thrilled. It couldn't of happen to a nicer group of trolls.
Conservative freedom watches are rather awkward
It's hard to strap a sundial onto your wrist
And they don't work at night.
... if you don't have your reading glasses on, the gnomon on the sundial pokes you in the eye.
Conservatives have a very odd view on what a grassroots organization is.
They think grassroots organizations are just like any of their other right-wing operations; funded by big money, with a top-down hierarchical structure with people issuing orders to loyal foot soldiers who never, ever, question what they're told. They just don't get it.
"Patru, the Freedom’s Watch spokesman, declined to state how much the organization spent but said it was at least $30 million, the minimum figure Freedom’s Watch is required to report."
And that doesn't include the millions of dollars they each pocketed.
It's the Republican way.
The reason these Republican grassroots organizations fail is because the Republicans have become the party of "let them eat cake". "Grassroots" are the regular people of the country. The Republicans couldn't identify an average USian if they dropped over dead in their laps. They just don't get that there are poor people in this country, and people dying for lack of health care, and smart kids that don't go to college because they can't afford it.
They just cannot comprehend the simple fact that there are USians who suffer and do without through no fault of their own. Look at how they refer to the poor: "welfare queens", etc. As if anyone was ever living high off the hog on welfare. Oh, $3 a day in food stamps! I'll never have to work again!
Isn't NORML a grassroots operations?
(No not that kitten who annoys Garfield.)
What a bunch of cowards. Obviously, Ari "people should watch what they say" Fleischer and his buddies have already surrendered to the wave of socialism that is taking over the country. I'll bet they've all found ways to steal from the various bailouts.
I am thrilled at the deceit felt by the idiots who gave these idiots money. Couldn't happen to a more deserving bunch of folks.
:-)
Ta-ta Freedom Watch. You notice the Re-cons always have these corney patriotic names. That are always act opposite of that name ?
Example: "Swift Boats For Truth" " Heritage Foundation"..
The story is out that the Con's want there own version of Howard Dean's 50 state strategy. Go figure< after bashing him all this time for it.
Jeb Bush to the rescue?
Takes a lickin' and keeps on twitchin'.
Job well done.
There is a little more to the story of this company going broke, though.
It seems the Sands has overdrawn their credit line to invest in China and the project is killing their bottom line:

Another GOP fake grass roots organization (read: corporate shills) goes down in flames.
Who needs to curry favor with these weasels any more? Obama and the DLC goons are where the influence is at now baby. Ari Fleisher? Pffft. Who's he going to get you a meeting with? The chimp?
The money has left the building, these BushCo underlings are going to have to go out and get real jobs now.
Oh, good luck with that.
