Security Guard Accused Of Terrorist Threats Against President Obama in New Jersey
This is going to happen more and more and more and I hope the Secret Service is making good money.
On the eve of the President's arrival in Newark, a private airport security guard is charged with making a terroristic threat against the commander-in-chief.
Police and secret service agents spent the day at Newark Liberty International Airport preparing for President Obama's arrival. It turns out one of the airport security guards is under arrest, charged with making terroristic threats against President Barack Obama.
As dozens of police gathered at the airport to protect the President, Port Authority police said they arrested 55-year-old John Breck for making what they say were disparaging and threatening remarks about President Obama.

According to Port Authority, Breck made the threatening remarks to a co-worker. They said a third party heard the comments and that person along with the co-worker reported it to police. Investigators said Breck gave police permission to search his home and they found 43 weapons, some of which are legal.

President Obama was in New York City on Tuesday applauding the efforts of the NYPD-FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force. He then attended a couple fundraisers to raise money for the Democratic party.
Obama will be in New Jersey on Wednesday to campaign for New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine. Air Force One is scheduled to land around 4:30 p.m.

I just asked my sister...Why the hell would anyone need 45 guns? Is he throwing them at the amimals he's hunting? By the way, I'm a woman who finds hunting disgusting. I'm sorry but, my idea of hunting is actually quite simple. The animal is not armed so the hunter should be unarmed as well. I know that's ridiculous but, that's my point. Many heads of cattle start their lives on small ranches and then get sold to feed lots. They don't start out in the feed lot, but do end up in the slaughterhouse. It's not any more fair than using a gun in a hunt.

Actually, early humans were more scavenger-gatherers. Hunting came a bit later. Now we have come full circle and many choose to scavenge and gather at McD's or DangerWay, but very few hunt.

A lot of people have an unstoppable desire to collect things. Could be guns, could be Precious Moments figurines, maybe pretty pressed Autumn leaves. You could ask the same "why the hell" question about any of these items, or pretty much any "collection" held by anybody.
Press releases like to emphasize the scariest things they can find about someone just to make a better story. When they come for me, my collection of vintage computers will be described in the most unseemly way. Remember the 80s? I'm not really sure why anyone cares that a security guard makes disparaging remarks about the president. I would assume that you could get almost any security guard to do that. They've taken the job because it gives them a sense of power, and they couldn't pass the police aptitude or psych exam. I know there's right-wing nuts out there, but I just dismiss any "Terrorist Plot Foiled" announcement out of hand these days. Gonna take me a long time to get over that.
Given that the job selects for power-seeking gun nuts, maybe a better question is: "Should all those security guards everywhere make us feel safer or more vulnerable?"

The key word to look out for is guns and similar devices.
A lot of times, these are cops supplementing their pay. Others are people who have received some nominal training somewhere, who work for menial wages. Still others are cop wannabes who for any number of reasons were refused entry or turned out of the police academy, SOMETIMES for psychological reasons.
