Sen. Jim Bunning's outrageous actions have put in jeopardy 400,000 Americans receiving unemployment benefits. ABC news tracked him down and asked for comment while he was entering an elevator. Apparently the elevator is part of his ROYAL infrastructure and he yelled at the reporters and flipped then the bird::

The exchange took place as Senator Bunning was getting into an elevator in the Hart Senate Office Building.

“Excuse me! This is a Senators only elevator!” Bunning thundered.

I tried again to ask his reasons for blocking the bill, Bunning said he already explained his reasons last Thursday, when he said he wanted the $10 billion cost of the bill to be paid for, rather than simply adding to the national debt.

“Excuse me!” he yelled. “I’ve got to go to the floor!”

As the doors closed, I asked Bunning if he is concerned about those losing their benefits.

He did not answer. This is all on-camera.

Senator Bunning was even more expressive before the cameras arrived, using a little sign language.

When Senate producer Z. Byron Wolf spotted Bunning exiting his office, Bunning said, “I’m not talking to anybody.” When Wolf asked him to stay and talk to our cameras, Bunning walked toward the elevator and shot the middle finger over his head.

He deserves to be voted into the Hall of Shame: Dirty Ballplayer, Dirty Senator.

I'm guessing his answer is, 'no'.

. . . while no one in the Senate could (or would) even slow down the Patriot Act. Again.

Many men to help the people, and ONE MAN to stop the effort in its tracks? This is disgusting. Mr. Bunning better have security near him when he's outside.

... was lucid today. He has been known to stand in that elevator and say, "Excuse me, this bathroom is for senators only."

I think he was in the ladies bathroom when he said, "excuse me but this elevator is for senators only". That's what I was told, anyway.
But, you could be correct.

As if he was in favor of any movement in the Senate. CREEP.

bunning = first class jacka*%* and a*!@%hole

It shows the kind of ingnorance Will usually does when writing about something he pretends to know as much about as politics, with the same bad results.

First, two of the pitchers mentioned were not of the 60's era. All four are or would be legitimate Hall of Famers (Clemens steroid abuse being a problem) based on their stats. Bunning got in only because he was a member of Congress via the so called Veteran's Committee. His colleagues never elected him due to a pretty mediocre won-lost record.

He may have gotten elected to Congress from Ky because pitchers spit good.

According to Baseball Almanac, Bunning is 10th on the career list of hit batsmen -- and that's including at least 2 knuckleballers (Hough & Wakefield). Throw out the knuckleballers and stats from games played before the modern era (1900), and Bunning moves up to 4th all-time.

Nice work, a$$h@le.

The only appropriate reply to Bunning's 'Senators only elevator' comment is to yell 'Tough sh*t', and to barrel in after him.

miss_kitty's picture

it's our taxes that keep that elevator running up and down, and he's an employed by the people paying those bills. He's obliged to answer questions as a senator, he's a public employee. He's not a fuckin baseball player anymore. Telling the press to get off is fine then.

The prick came pretty close getting physical. This ain't baseball, this is people trying to feed their children.

No matter how many times you request, I will not excuse you.

So my choice is between spineless and evil?

(the unemployed), then can't handle it when he's rightfully called on it.

You are pathetic, Bunning.

What a heartless f*ckhead? I know he's not running for re-election but how exactly is this playing in Kentucky? Does the majority of Kentuckians support what he's doing?

gump's picture

Kentucky, a Republican. He could bite the heads off of every puppy in the state and they'd still support him

Bunning is no different than (at least) half the senate. He needed a nap and was being cranky, that's all. I mean, it's not as though he could have shouted, "Get off my lawn"! is it?

gump's picture

Who would of known that we treat our politicians in such high regards as to give them a Royal Elevator. Some day the children of the parents who are forced to let their child go to sleep hungry tonight may be honored enough to ride this Royal Elevator. If not "Tough Shit".

The man was a great ball player but he's been striking out with the people. I seem to think he wouldn't be so arrogant if he wasn't planning on retiring. A word comes to mind, ASSHOLE.

When you're the most hated man in America there's no more reason to feign protocol. Republicsns can say what they want, whenever. Lie whenever. Act with outrageous hypocrisy and shameless partisanship. It sure pays to own the media!

Excuse me Senator, but who paid for that elevator? I believe we did.

republicanism/conservatism is a mental illness and it has almost killed America!
These people do not have the morals or the intelligence to make sound rational decisions. They should not be allowed to participate in government or any other position that allowes them to make decisions that effect others.
There is not one republican in the congress or the senate that deserves to be there. Not One!

In my experience, wishing harm on anyone including scum sucking conservatives usually get's your post deleted and you get a warning (at least I hope to make sure we're being fair). With that said. I totally agree.

...1960's. Major League baseball's most racist team, who ran off all of their African American players(most notably Richie Allen, later an American league MVP.)

The reason for Baseball's players being able to be free agents originates from a black player(Curt Flood) refusing to be traded to Bunning's racist Phillies.

gump's picture

They go together like peanut butter and jelly. Shoot first bitches. Bunning may not have originated from Philly but I'm sure he felt right at home during his playing days. I'm sure he thinks the only people collecting unemployment are the people of color. He's a coward, if he wasn't running again he wouldn't be taking this stand.

Doctors, patients, staff members feel pain of 21 percent Medicare cut

Doctors who treat Medicare patients said they continued appointments as usual Monday, despite a 21 percent cut in their reimbursement that went into effect because of a Congressional stalemate.

But if those Medicare cuts stick, all bets are off, doctors cautioned.
..
Each year since 2002, Medicare has been slated to automatically cut what doctors are paid, based on a formula called the sustainable growth rate. Each year, when those cuts were about to take effect, Congress has bent to industry pressure and undone the cuts, leaving them to pile up for another year.

But this year, seven years of Congressional avoidance has hit doctors all at once, because of a dramatic stance on the deficit taken by Republican Sen. Jim Bunning of Kentucky.
..
Protesting unchecked spending, Bunning refused last week to allow a vote on a $10 billion bill that lacked a mechanism to pay for it. In the process, his objections brought Medicare Part B reimbursements to the point of crisis. Medicare Advantage plans were not affected.

In the expectation that Congress will pass a fix quickly, a spokesperson for the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in Washington said the agency told its contractors to hold claims from March 1 for 10 days. But if Congress doesn't act by then, "we are constrained to follow the statute," and cut the payments, the agency spokeswoman said. "We have no choice."
..

When will government of the people, by the politicians, for the corporations perish from this Earth?

Not soon enough!

Fox News Alert's picture

I spoke with an office manager of a medical office who said that private insurers base their payments on what reimbursement rates are for Medicare. Stay tuned.

When I was a local reporter years ago, I also kept up at karate. So, physically threatening body language never got in the way of a task at hand. Both of those men were intentionally intimidating those reporters,. Though I admire the reporters steadfastness, they should have called these public servants out for their intimidation.

sorry...it's late .....

What, no republicans lurking here defending him or his actions???
I'm surprised a bit, come on, someone, defend him, take your pride in this man, isn't he great for your religion, I mean, political causes and stances.

Hate these republicans who now suddenly got the it's-not-funded religion, while mostly being hypocrites to it when it suits them. Also when in the very recent past (and even further past during the bush/cheney years), it was like everything was one big credit card spree spent with unfunded mandates and legislation that will burden future generations. Wonder what he's getting out of his stance? Other than proving even more so, especially now, enough republicans and their media supporters are rather insane and need good bowel movements.

Mutton Jeff's picture

I wonder when someone will begin reporting the pork-laden, unfunded bills that Bunning has voted for in the past, if any. Let's see his voting history and find out if his budgetary concerns are consistent or only come to the fore when the bill is aimed at helping people who are scraping by trying to feed their kids and keep the house.
