While the Democratic Senators filibuster Governor Scott Walker's budget bill, the state Assembly is debating it. Tell me this Representative isn't expressing the anger most of us feel at the concerted effort of newly-elected right wing lawmakers to smash every value we hold dear, without debate.
I hope Mr. Hintz takes blood pressure medication, because I have to believe it was off the charts while he was giving his speech.
Unfortunately, there's no transcript available for this, but a transcript would not give you the full sense of how outraged this man is over how he was notified of the bill and how Republicans are steamrolling Democrats. It's quite cathartic to watch.

What I find shocking is the gulf, nay chasm between the vast amount of power that a Republican is given when they win an election compared to the tiny amount that a Democrat wins. Or is it just that Republicans over-reach and Democrats cede everything? PrezBO has certainly provided a fine example of how NOT to use his position to further his STATED agenda, though perhaps he's doing fine with this HIDDEN agenda of aiding and abetting the corporatists in every little thing that they want.

I know that dems and libs are up in arms, but what makes everyone think that this is not what the citizens (a majority) voted for and want to have happen in WI? The repubs did get a resounding majority of the vote so what is the basis for believing their pols are not honoring the peoples' will, atrocious as it may be?

The reaction of some who voted for the Rs is surprise that they'd come down so hard-line on unions, etc. That's not what they voted for.
To me, the election represented anger at just about everything. People are fed up and pissed off and they don't care who they're fed up and pissed of AT, so they vote for the new guy thinking at least they can be fed up and pissed off at different people and different things. Still, this is being seen by many as overreach, and lots of people can understand the consequences if this bill goes through. More importantly, it shows people just how bad republican governing can affect them in a simple to understand way. This is bad PR no matter how hard conservatives try to spin it.

But Obama and D.C. Democrats have let the rabid right get way out of hand. They should have been pushing back for the last 2 years against the republican right and against the blue dogs/3rd way Dems. That this little budget exercise many of the states are about to go thru with their newly elected Republican majorites will cause people to pull their heads out of their asses the next time there is an election. I could not agree more with everything that this guy says in his rant. This sort of backhanded and underhanded crap needs to stop on both sides.
Watching this though I can tell you that I felt exactly as he does when it became clear that the new healthcare law was going to pass. He complains about over a hundred pages and a week? Try a thousand pages and a shorter timeline. Just know that his rage and disappointment was felt by many millions of citizens when our government acted against our stated interests. If this is as unpopular as you all state in the forum these rules can be reinstated as a top priority when you retake the house and/or governorship.
I suspect that there is more in this bill than should be included, but we need to allow for majority and minority input, even if it is later voted down. I think that procedural rules need to be codified by a super-majority of all state houses and the congress. No more pointing the finger at the other side saying you did it back in '65 so I am going to mess with you now.
If we hadn't lost "free media" we wouldn't be overrun by brain dead FOX zombies.If your gonna be ignorant,your gonna get fucked!
