America Honors Leaders -- Not Politicians:
In this picture provided by the environmental group Greenpeace, Greenpeace climbers rappel down the face of Mount Rushmore National Memorial in Keystone, S.D. on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 to unfurl a banner that challenges President Obama to show leadership on global warming. Obama is at the G8 meeting in Italy to discuss the global warming crisis with other world leaders. A federal prosecutor says a dozen people were taken into custody on Wednesday after the incident.

I'm proud to be a "Progressive" but depressed at the thought of what the future holds for us.
Seems it will be our destiny to hold our collective noses throughout the rest of our lifetimes in this country.
The only hope of breathing "fresh air" will be to jump ship and join at least a MORE Progressive country...France?? Sure, I'd be living with a bunch of snobs who would shun my bad French but at least I'd finally get decent health care!
It's funny. Lately I've been encouraging my roommate to teach me French comments. "How do you say, 'That is beautiful?'" Etc. Ha!
America honors the 'Great Leader' as a propaganda tool in class subjugation.
are fucking corporate shills.
However, as for global warming there is precious little leadership anywhere to be seen.
H.R. 2454: 111th Congress 2009-2010
is a fraud. Instead of promoting an end to fossil fuels it reinforces their use. Carbon capture, carbon dioxide to be buried and dumped exactly where on this small ball of rock we are on. Mother Earth, it is a hoax.
Where are the proclamations for the massive conservation that we need to undertake?
Everyone knows what happened to Jimmy Carter when HE suggested sacrifice.
The worst thing that can happen to the earth's ecology is for the global economies to 'recover' to their previous excesses, and of course, in the area of excess the US is sans pareil.
Unfortunately, that is what the thrust of the 'developed' world seems to be attempting.
oxy moron!!!!!

Our pullback results in another accomplished mission. Dog-fighting raids across six states. Bush's spying program was extensive. Repug anti-stimulus fact checks. A Wisconsin town refuses to support the troop. Pelosi and the GOP don't care about black performers. Barry wants to cover up our war crimes in Afghanistan.
Bottled water needs more regulatin. Arnie don't care about the poor or disabled, while bailed-out banks don't want to bail out Cali. Bush also covered up our war crimes in Afghanistan. House Dems plan to make the rich do their part for America. (For now, anyway.)
I sure wish there were more good news, but I know we have to face it.
on dog fighting. Not sure if these are local arrests or ATF/FBI coordinated--the article doesn't state.)
Must be wonderful having your kid play little-league for a guy who's probably buying pizza for his team with the proceeds of the prior night's dog massacre at his place...

Most Americans don't believe humans responsible for climate change, study finds
49% - global climate change caused by human activity
36% - global climate change caused by natural changes
10% - no such thing as global climate change
05% - non-respondent
So: 51% did not agree that global climate change is caused by human activity.
part of the problem is that people arent wonks and dont do their own research...they listen to idiots like el druggo
A large percentage of Americans also believed Dubyas lies about WMD. Do you have a point at all?

BTW - Busch did a lot of screwing with the law to endanger civil rights, and eavesdrop on everyone. He also did a lot of bald face lying and chuckling, in a litany of crimes. huh.
hand it over to prosecutors now! what else?
Go up top to Alice X - Choms... link and you will see why there will NEVER be any prosecutors, war crimes tribunals or meaningful health care legislation passed. Here's the excellent article she posted. Read it and weep:

Greenpeace are, once again, spreading more nonsense jingoism. Why is everyone mad at the sun? Sure, it can get cranky or give us the cold shoulder every so often, but without it we wouldn't exist.
Oh, sure, some of you may say that if we didn't have this temperamental sun then some other hot star would save us! Well, you work with the sun you have, not the sun you wish you had.

about the health care plan I had the other night and here is the follow up.
I checked with the other doctors listed on the provider list and none of them were contracted with the insurance company. In reality, I was paying the premiums but had no coverage. This was a Medicare Advantage plan for those that may be on the same type of plan.
What I did today was contact Medicare and they finding that I was deceived allowed me to change back to the regular Medicare plan. If you are having the same type of problem, contact MEDICARE.
I'm not done with this insurance company. I plan to file more complaints and try to get a refund for the premiums paid since the providers they listed weren't contracted, therefore I wasn't covered. One friend of mine was on the same plan and they weren't paying the claims so I know how they operate. If we do get a public option, stay way from Evercare/Healthcare United.
You've probably already thought of your Dept. of Insurance, but you might even want to consider your state's Attorney General's office as well (depending on just how misleading these listings were).
got a call in to the Insurance comissioner's office. Waiting for a call back. The attorney general's office is next.
if you get far turn it over/inform your representative(s),insurance commissioner's office and the media. call and e-mail.
step at a time. Thanks.
Again, that's terrible. I did read your recent post. It appears America is lawless where profits are to be made. What the fuck has happened to your country?? Fake insurance policies, sub-prime mortgages, bailouts. Are there any laws protecting people left?
"NO." Laws are written by the corporations, for the corporations.
It's unfortunate for us that by law, corporations ARE people. That's how they get around many rules and regulations. They can even get protection from being discriminated against.
We are so screwed.
that if the corporations want people rights then they only can last as long as one productive persons average life, say 38 years, then they have to liquidate.
Excluding non profit corporations
and put in jail then? Seriously... if corporations ARE people, then do the laws that apply to people apply to corporations? And failing applying to corporations, do they apply to those guys running the corporations who get the big fat salaries and bonuses??
They'll do a load of heavy lifting for you, they have a lot of clout. I had to call them once, and they worked out well.
And try a U of W medical satellite. I'm sure they take all forms of fucked up insurance.

Give 'em hell. I hope this all turns out well for you. It sounds like a good start.
Good luck with this Ron... seriously, you've got a solid approach and this sort of crap from the insurers (can we even call them that when their intent is to take your money and provide you nothing for it?)... I'll call the pseudo-insurers or just plain frauds... AND this sort of crap from these frauds has to be exposed and beaten down. It's absurd that these idiots think we pay premiums for nothing. I've had my own fun with this one.
Go get 'em!!!

Bill Moyers looks at the influence of money and lobbying on health care reform efforts in Washington, D.C.
You can watch the entire segment online by go here. To see how callous the health insurance industry CEOs are go to minute 3:16 of the clip. http://www.pbs.org/moyers/journal/07102009/wa...
Over the past five years the companies — Assurant, Golden Rule and Wellpoint — had cancelled 20 thousand individual policies.
During a subcommittee hearing Michigan Congressman Bart Stupak asked their executives if they would change their ways after hearing testimony of a woman who was denied coverage for needing a double mastectomy immediately. Blue Cross and Blue Shield pre-certified her for the surgery and for a hospital stay. The Friday before she was to have my double mastectomy, Blue Cross and Blue Shield called her by telephone and told her that her chart was red flagged.
BILL MOYERS: Red flagged. The insurer used inadvertent omissions on her original application — data that had nothing to do with her current condition — as an excuse to cancel her health policy. Without that insurance she couldn't have the cancer surgery that she needed.
REP. BART STUPAK: Let me ask of our CEOs this question, starting with you Mr. Hamm, would you commit today that your company will never rescind another policy unless there was intentional fraud - fraudulent misrepresentation in the application?
DON HAMM: I would not commit to that.
REP. BART STUPAK: How about you Mr. Collins, would you commit to not to rescind any policy unless there is an intentional fraudulent misrepresentation?
RICHARD COLLINS: No, sir. We follow the state laws and regulations. And we would not stipulate to that. That's not consistent with each state's laws.
REP. BART STUPAK: How about you, Mr. Sassi, would you commit that your company will never rescind another policy unless there was an intentional fraud, misrepresentation?
BRIAN A. SASSI: No, I can't commit to that. The intentional standard is not the law of the land in the majority of states.
REP. JOE BARTON: Doesn't it bother you that people are going to die, because you insist on reviewing a policy that somebody took out in good faith and forgot to tell you that they were being treated for acne? Doesn't that bother you?
DON HAMM: Yes sir, it does. And we regret the necessity that that has to occur even a single time and we've made suggestions that would reform the system such that that would no longer be needed.
.. and this is AFTER the insurance company already approved the initial application AND took the person's money for months, perhaps years .. and then the person has a claim that is on the insurance company's red-alert list (gonna cost them some money) .. so then the insurance company "reviews" the person's original application and finds some excuse to cancel the policy ..
.. and it's standard practice and these CEOs admit and defend it ..
.. should be in prison on Racketeering Charges ..
Is there a lawyer out there who knows whether this behavior is fraudulent on the insurer's (perpetrator of the fraud) part? They insure you based on your application, take your money, then when you need what you paid for, they refuse you. In my mind that's fraud... isn't it?

Hooray for killing them over there! Gobama! Gobama! Yes we can! Excuse my sarcasm, but one would have thought that seeing as how Obomba is breaking so many of his election promises, that maybe Afghanistan and Pakistan would have been a no brainer promise to make considering. Nope. One promise the great orator intends to keep is to keep on killing. And Americans cheer for the "just" killings on most blogs. Disgusting. "Why do they hate us?" Um, stupidity for starters.

Ebay?~?
NEW YORK - As part of its turnaround plan, General Motors Corp. said Friday it plans to experiment with auctioning new cars on eBay, expanding on an existing partnership covering certified used vehicles on the online marketplace.
GM CEO Fritz Henderson said the company is working on an "innovative new partnership" with eBay Inc. to let consumers in California bid on vehicles as they would in a normal eBay auction or choose a "Buy it Now" option to purchase the car at a set price. Dealers would still distribute the cars.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/31855060/ns/busin...
How innovative. Not. Here's an idea GM. I know it's radical and all. But how about you make a decent vehicle once, with a reasonable price and reasonable repair costs? Now I know, that would be a complete 180 from your conventional thinking, but you should give it a damn try. The solution to GM's bankruptcy is massive downsizing and jobcuts, followed by trying to sell cars on Ebay? Good grief.
WASHINGTON - After a mass killing of hundreds, perhaps thousands, of Taliban prisoners of war by the forces of an American-backed warlord during the 2001 invasion of Afghanistan, Bush administration officials repeatedly discouraged efforts to investigate the episode, according to government officials and human rights organizations. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/31855711/ns/world...

Report: U.S. to block Iran sanctions at G8 summit
http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1097644.html
The same article says Obomba discarded direct talks, then goes on to say he is interested in...wait for it....renewed discussions! Hahahaha...and this is reporting?
...Has Obama shown leadership on much of anything? Seems like on every major issue, he refuses to stand up, do the right thing, which should be easy considering the support he garnered during his election.
I'm wondering too when he's gonna make good on all those nice promises he gave... before he was elected. This idea that he'll do what he can to keep abortions low (while he was chatting with the Pope) has me bothered too... isn't that something that should be a woman's decision? the woman who is pregnant??
Hey Mr. Obama... WTF????!!!
being a politician pays much better financially. Espescially if you get a gig as lobbyist when you step down.
they've got goin', huh?!
I'm glad Greenpeace said it out loud... we do honor heroes, not politicians!
Seems that somebody is sabotaging the audio, to make it unsettling/annoying to listen to.

No surprises but insightful.
Good luck with your fight!

look, i posted this earlier, but this will be the last time. i know how this site feels about what some call "conspiracy theory", so i'll keep this rant brief:
IT'S THE JOES, STUPID.
the JOES control EVERYTHING; therefore the JOES must shoulder ALL of the blame.
think about it:
WHO controls football? JOE montana, JOE namath, mean JOE green.
WHO controls entertainment? JOE pesci, JOE jackson, JOE jonas.
WHAT do your kids play with? g.i. JOE dolls.
the JOES have us all so thoroughly brainwashed into accepting their way of thinking, we now use expressions like "average JOE" or "JOE sixpack" where we once said "regular guy"; or "cup of JOE" in place of "mug of coffee".
(don't get me wrong; i know there are some good JOES out there. c&l's very own uncle JOE mccarthy and JOE h. come to mind. not all JOES are bad, but every bad person IS a JOE!)
I'm guessing Michael spent a good portion of his adult life trying to forget his dad.
And Graham Parker is still trying to forget the British Joe Jackson...
and if you re-read my previous statement, you will see that i did, in fact, identify JOE jackson as one of the fingers of the invisible JOE hand of hollywood. if i'm reading the tea leaves correctly, JOE jackson is the middle finger.
and yes, the JOES control england, all the way up to the queen's wardrobe.
Gotta toss my mom's new husband, also named Joe, on the list to make up for it; He's busy spending what's left of what my late father busted his balls to earn...
JOE wilson controls u.s. intelligence, JOE satriani controls sonic waves, & JOE the plumber is the grand wizard of the JOES.
on Mt. Rushmore is NOT COOL. Good message, way wrong place. That's called litter and graffiti, you pathetic losers.
I doubt they meant it to be permanent. It was timed along with a meeting taking place that would have a view.
I imagine if they hadn't been arrested, they would have rolled it up and taken it home.
"Defacing" is a pretty strong word - it's not like they used paint.
Seems like a lot of misplaced outrage, on your part and on Joe H's...
A lot of environmentalists hate the Mt. Rushmore sculpture, as it is a defacement of Nature to begin with.
