House Speaker Nancy Pelosi this week vowed to begin a congressional investigation into what caused the financial crash of 2008
i have no confidence in either pelosi nor this investigation to do anything but to hold a series of toothless investigations that are intended to put a stamp of approval on the status quo, and declare the crash a relic of the past. in other words, it will be a white wash.
will pelosi really point her finger at the financialization of the economy, the financial deregulation, the rampant corruption on wall street and DC, as sources of the crash while the democratic party is getting truckloads of cash from the financial community? i think not.
prove me wrong pelosi, please. i will eat crow happily.
While we in Illinois have a LOT of politicians to deal with please DON'T give us Bachman also.
She's from Minnesota!
the house speaker nancy pelosi wants a congressional hearing on what caused the financial crash in 2008. this will be somewhat like the Pecora Commission in the 30's. i say get on with it. some of us have a basic understanding of what happened. i say look to wallStreet then policy makers. also investigate
TAX havens. then have this information presented to the public at a basic USA today newspaper understanding/level. this financial crisis is much bigger than foreclosures of residential homes. it was crooked rating agencies, manipulating hedge funds and an insurance giant in the financial instrument game. trying to put primary blame on people who tooks mortgages is ridiculous/propaganda. wallStreet wanted those
"ninja and liar" loans they were like cheap firewood. then investors would essentially bet on those loans
and "insure' their bets. it's basically been a large gambling casino. this financial crisis is WHY the current economic crisis is NOT a garden variety recession. i want joe and jane america to know the truth.
"basic USA today understanding level" See Elizabeth Warren on The Daily Show - she makes perfect sense and makes it easy to understand.
Two American journalists jailed in North Korea:
Even North Korea scoffs at us for our human rights abuses.
And for those who would try to say it’s an unfair comparison:
And, one more fun fact: Did you know we have the same judicial system as Iran for our foreign prisoners?
...about the treatment that Bybee and Bradbury okayed is that it was chosen specifically because it seems less harmful than the popular conception of torture. The thing is, though, that standing for two or three days straight can cause heart and kidney failure, and days without sleep can lead to psychosis and death. Just as debilitating as thumbscrews, and just as useless for getting good information out of a detainee.
.....Michelle Bachman is Minnesota's only Senate representative. I'm still amazed she was elected in the first place.
not a Senator.
And regardless of (because of?) her craziness, her fundraising is through the roof:
Bachmann leads political money chase
"Bachman took in more than $300,000 during the first three months of the year and had nearly a quarter-million dollars in the bank as of the end of March..."
According to the good folks at TPM:
"At first glance it looks like most of it came from Minnesota, but she also received donations from all across the country: New York, Arizona, Maryland, Texas, Virginia, California, Colorado, New Jersey and elsewhere."
Somebody is willing to finance the insanity.
Bybee's memo is a doozy, and I'm glad it's brining him to greater attention.
This clown is a judge? Wow, I hope I and anybody I care about ever has to appear before him. Makes Judge Roy Bean look soft on crime.

Kneepads Nancy is going to find out what happened??? Seriously??? Anyone believe that anything more than a strongly worded letter is coming out of this?? hahahaha what a joke Nancy is, she sets womans liberation behind centuries. DINO, COMPLICIT DEMS nervous about the obvious. The Klepocracy hand-in-jowl with the BUSHCRIMEFAMILY, all the people who get real news, not propaganda know who/how the FINANCIAL MELTDOWN happened and they know by whom. Americans have been dumbed down to this sad state of incest and 'favors'.
