yawn.
bOReAC must need the hits.

I am not qualified to assess the quality of HuffPo's medical writers.
Therefore I determine if their daily medical articles are worth following if the quality of their celebrity coverage that day is up to snuff based on Diggs and Twitter mentions.

I save myself a lot of time and don't read any of it. I do sometimes look at the slideshows, and I look for news videos.

I don't think you'll find a legitimate science blog on the internet that doesn't hold Huffpo's tenuous grasp of science in contempt. Huffpo provides much hilarity to those grounded in reality and none of it is intentional.

This morning it seems the cable news channels are filled with stupid. Morning Joe's show had a doctor on who was explaing why health care reform is so very necessary and what it is now costing us to cover people without insurance in the long run. Mika and Pat Buchanan, thinking they are experts in the field, wouldn't shut the hell up and let the doctor make his case.

Fox and Friends had some guy, who said he was an astronaut, on who denied man's responsibility for global warming. He said it was too difficult for scientist to be able to model. Of course that's a hefty helping of horse manure.

Thank goodness for c-span and the possibility of hearing something worthwhile.

Is journalistically on par with The View, and twice as annoying.

Um

"This morning it seems the cable news channels are filled with stupid."

As opposed to . . .

delicious fruit, and nutritious food for thought, all of which pop has come to expect with her morning viewing.

Sounds very nice to me, especially if I would remember to hit the "off" button on tv before being served.

of the Sparkman case.
Didn't find one network covering it over the weekend.

Add Mt. Vernon to the list of places to avoid in the US.

based on a zip code change is interesting...especially the comments.

:p

Alice X posted a link last night to an article which revealed that 4 separate security cameras went blank just before the explosion at the Murrough building in Oklahoma. This was revealed through the freedom of information act.

The explanation of the FEDS? They were changing the tapes.

All the cameras started to roll again just after the explosion.

You can't make this stuff up!

Unless of course you're the government.

Very depressing and un-encouraging report on Afghanistan last night on 60 minutes.

Does anyone remember the week long fluff-campaign that CBS did in Afghanistan about a year ago with Katie Couric and Lara Logan? You knew it was all lies when they were reporting it. I can't even remember what they said but they said it was going pretty good.

the one that reported live on military ships launching of planes during Operation Iraqi Freedumb, that cheered them on as they took off? *smacking head* At least she could pretend to be an unbiased reporter. She looked/sounded more like a cheerleader without the pom poms.

:p

I was pretty disappointed with Lara over the Afghanistan report. I wasn't aware of here cheer leading early on in the war.

I have more respect for her than many journalist because she does place herself in life-threatening situations. But even those kinds of journalists can tow the propaganda line.

Good to hear from you cc. Hope all is well up North (or at least better than down here).

Up here is crappy. Our glorious leader says the recession is over! Praize Jeebus! Still no work, but the recession is over. Although I've seen a new glitch with our "stimulus" money. Seems all those shovel ready jobs decided to bid and receive the same amounts for work, but to hire temp employees through agencies at barely over minimum wage. Nice. My company is losing contractors hand over fist because my bosses refuse to pay that low a wage, knowing people cannot live on it. So, not alot of work. But we still have universal healthcare!

Woah now. Just WOAH. Homeopathy is a respected form of healing in our world. I personally know two docs, internist and surgeon, who use homeopathy and nutrition to treat core issues. While other docs use meds, these docs are able to get to the bottom line of cause for symptoms. Their intake app't are scheduled for about and hour and a half. Their care is personal and detailed. Their remedies have worked brilliantly for me, my friends and family. Many have been able to alleviate symptoms and ailments while leaving those expensive meds behind.
Just because you don't understand these alternates to modern alleopathic medecine, don't bring blanket judgement of 'quackery'.

From the naked capitalism art.:
"The Fed not only lost control, D’Arista asserts, but its policy actions have unintentionally become “pro-cyclical”–encouraging financial excesses instead of countering the extremes."

I sincerely doubt that anything the Fed has ever done has been 'unintentional'. The whole reason for creating it in the first place was to ensure that the banksters had total control over the monetary system - so they could control the flow of capital into their own coffers.

The Shakesville article is right - a little accountability would be a good thing. But, the foxes took over the hen house decades ago, and the remedies everyone suggests requires a Congress and Supreme Court that are not filled with corrupt, greedy, fascist, corporate-owned, pigs. How will we get that??

Amitola, I love your mind!

Seriously!

Though, I have no idea how we will get that.

I did observe this

the brain destroying pablum on the TV set.

people to be glued to a tube.

I had missed a post by Dr. Andrew Weil, M.D., in HuffPo the other day. It was called President Obama: Get Angry About Health Care Reform.

Here's a really revealing clip:

President Obama's Sept. 9th speech on health care reform to Congress was like a kindly doctor's first consultation with an overweight, one-pack-a-day patient who is still ambulatory and functional. The president was reasonable and restrained, pointing out that Congress needs to make a better choice, one that reflects the centrist view.

But it did not work because the president, a rare politician who seems essentially immune to political greed, misjudged how much insurance and pharmaceutical funding has corrupted both parties. The center, as it turned out, has moved so far right that it sits smack in the middle of a self-destructive kleptocracy. Congress has, via the Baucus bill, essentially told the president that "this pathetic performance is the best we can muster."

So far, watching the Senate Finance Committee mark up sessions, we see that PhARMA is being protected and will not have to lose more than the $80 million they already agreed to (and when I say "lose" I mean from their billions in profit) and the Insurance companies appear to be making big plans for the huge profits they'll make when the Public Option is diminished or dumped.

The idea of Obama getting angry about all this and pushing for what we really need... ie: a Public Option or, better still, a government mandated single-payer system (yeah, like that's going to happen)... could make the majority of Americans see the President we thought we had voted for.

So what are the odds?

Under The LobsterScope

Really, what's a few more years in prison when you're innocent? I hope those three cases lead to more.
