American Jihad:
"Mr. Gabler offers no solution to this state of affairs, thereby implying that there is none, and that in itself is terrifying." → Evolution

The Greatest Show on Earth: The Evidence for Evolution:

(38 customer reviews) By John W. Loftus,
The antidote to that kind of ignorant thinking is this present work, which presents "the positive evidence that evolution is a fact" (p.6). Many bishops and theologians embrace evolution as a fact, even if some of them accept it begrudgingly.

I have the solution to too much company influence over legislation.
Boycott some of those companies en masse and make them get it
for us. Yes, we will need to get at least 100,000 people to act on
these. With these actions you can help limit corporate power.

See our web site at http://DEMOCRATZ.ORG

Nelson Peltz is an American businessman and a billionaire. He is the CEO of Wendy's/Arby's Group,

Rather disturbing, but not all that surprising. Brown has always been a "maverick" in a good way, refusing to be pigeonholed. I'm guessing that the "anti-crime/anti-gang" voices are getting more ear time now that he's AG.

This is why its perverted and sick, and will destroy us all.

Buell Crushing Good (unsold) Motorcycles into Cubes.

Maybe raise some money for charity and preserved good working motorcycles for people to ride and enjoy. Surely theres better tax breaks for a company if they offload product in some charity auction rather than mere destroying the product of people's labor.

The corporate mindset is sick and twisted, destroy rather than create and preserve.

I've got the same beef with disabling all the engines in the "cash for clunker" vehicles. Sure, they may not have been the most efficient engines, but they could have been used to upgrade/replace engines for those who have older cars they need just to survive.

Not everybody has $20,000+ for a brand spanking new car (we dont work for GOV large and small), but then again poor people struggling to hang onto their aprox $10 per hour jobs are invisible to Washington, they simply do not see us.

In my case I either car, cycle to work in the spring summer fall (six mile round trip), winter time its impossible to not use the car to travel to work here in MN, the snow and the killing cold makes cars unavoidable. There is no public transport.

I have a 20 year old clunker in reasonable condition, it runs and stops and does 30 miles per week tops. My wife has the good car in the family, kids and all the other stuff etc.

So guess what happens now and in the future that 'clunkers' are rare or priced beyond a poor persons wallet.

I suppose with jobs becoming scarce it doesn't really matter any more...

Science and engineering raised humanity out of the swamp, greed and accountants will put us back there.

Back to your original comment about tax breaks. If there's one thing that Obama should be doing right now, IMHO, is have the best and brightest look for ways to change tax codes from some of the egregious ones of bushco to help stimulate the economy. We could quickly get solar panels, better insulation, smaller/efficient cars, etc--with tax breaks that could be implemented quickly.

Why this isn't being done, dunno....

The War on Language by Chris Hedges

How do you respond to "Islam is the solution" or "Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior"? How do you converse with someone who justifies the war in Iraq-as Christopher Hitchens does-with the tautology that we have to "kill them over there so they do not kill us over here"?...

...I think one should first take into consideration a few facts, before portraying Hitchens simple explanation of "kill them over there so they do not kill us over here", with a descriptive word such as tautology.

1) Islam is the official state religion, and no law may be enacted or enforced that violates the "undisputed" teachings of Islam.

2) He is an atheist

3) He currently lives in Washington, D.C.

I myself would prefer, we be proactive instead of reactive when it comes to islamic fundamentalist. Fortunately our official law derived from the Constitution, affords us the benefit of having a minor or limited amount of fundamentalist(s) contingent on one theological belief, albeit they're quite capable of inflicting similar injury for what they deem as wicked...and have done just that.

One can stand idle and wait with a good heart for a problem to arise or take the steps to necessary to preclude high blood-pressure, bypass surgery or even a heart attack. The alternative is to abstain and ignore the likelihood, in hopes that it will never happen. The important thing to diagnose, is what fuels such a disease as fundamentalism. The only cure I see, I've stated above in my first comment, "evolution will", absent nuclear ruin... I remain optimistically in favor of evolution though. :)

The Invention of Lying is a good film, but be warned that that review is full of spoilers and gives away major plot points.
